Zippy Shell Storage and Moving

I recently moved from VA to DC but needed to store furnishings from a one-bedroom apartment for 2 months. I am incredibly grateful to Bill from Zippy Shell VA and his team of excellent movers for helping me get that done and at a very reasonable price. Way better price than other storage/movers!! The four men who helped me move were efficient, very courteous, and extremely hard working. Even in 90 degree heat! They moved me out in one hour and packed the zippy cargo like pros. Bill was always easy to reach and very helpful when I had questions. I highly recommend this company and look forward to working with them again when I move into my new place. Thanks for everything!

This was the 2nd time I've used Zippy Shell and we have had good success both times. Bill Shannon was responsive to my emails and followed through on what he said would be done. If there's anything I'd recommend to improve, it'd be narrowing the time of day forecasting for the trailer delivery / pickup, I'd use Zippy Shell again if I need off site storage in the future.

It went perfect! They delivered the containers as scheduled. I needed another one and was not talked in to any one bigger or more than needed. Fabulous communication and storage. They provide help loading containers and unloading if needed. Highly Recommend.

Great experience! Scheduling with Bob the owner was easy. All costs were explained upfront - nothing hidden. The guys that showed up were on time, friendly, and hard working. I get stressed out when I move and this team made it very stress free and easy. Highly recommend!!!

Service was amazing. On the front end, I asked for one unit. A few days before delivery of the unit, I realized I needed a second unit. On short notice, they were able to arrange for delivery of both units, placed in the driveway exactly where I wanted them. Then, on the back end, we were not sure whether we wanted (or could handle) delivery of both units. They were very patient with us as we planned the re-entry of our Household effects into the new place. In the end, we took delivery of each unit, one week apart. Again, they were very accommodating. Professional, flexible, efficient, and customer service oriented. Outstanding service!

We had a great experience with Zippy Shell. I contacted 6 moving/storage companies and they were the most reasonably priced, responsive and were flexible to my needs. The movers were professional, quick and paid attention to detail with much of our fragile furniture and boxes.

My ZippyShell experience was a great one! From the first time I contact Bill, he was incredibly helpful and flexible in terms of timing and availability. We were beginning the process of selling our home and used a portable shell to de-clutter. Drop off and pick up were flawless and easy to schedule. Once we sold the house, we contacted Bill again to schedule a full scale move. Again, availability and flexibility were top notch, but what made the experience even greater were the actual movers. They arrived on time, and were very cautious moving things around without damaging the walls and floors. These guys worked hard! They moved us out of our house in 4 hours and we were on to the new house. Upon arriving, they discovered that the truck would not be able to get up the driveway. Any normal person would have been frustrated and feel defeated, but the crew, Caesar, Carlos, Mario and Raheem worked together to create a assembly line and get everything up the driveway and never once complained about the additional work. These guys were awesome, friendly, and again, very cautious about making sure not to damage walls and floors. We had some large items which could not fit down the stairs to the basement and they warned us ahead of time that they would damage the walls if they tried. Just an example of how much they cared about making sure we were happy and our home was treated with care. I really cannot stress how great of a team these guys were and how hard they worked. Overall a great experience. My only suggestion is that Zippyshell get some larger clearance trucks in their fleet. The truck they used was not a traditional large moving truck, but more like a race car trailer as it did not have much ground clearance. For most moves, this would more than suffice, but if you have a steep driveway, the truck will not be able to climb it. Because of this, the truck had to be parked at the end of our long driveway which added a considerable amount of time to our move, which of course meant additional expense. Again, over all a great experience and the crew were just a great group of guys who worked really hard. I would absolutely hire Zippyshell again! Final thought, don’t foret to tip the movers! These guys work so hard and deserve every penny they make! Thanks Zippyshell!

We needed to temporarily store items to stage and sell our home. Zippy Shells came on time and left the storage pod parked in front of our house for 3 days. We arranged for it to be delivered a couple of months later when movers came to pack up all of our things. Zippy Shells changed their times slightly to allow for more overlap between their pod coming back to us and the movers coming, so that the moving company had adequate time to unload and pack everything up. Zippy Shells worked perfectly for our needs! You should know that they give only 24 hours to unpack your pod, compared to 2-3 days to load it up. So, you have to plan accordingly.

Very well. The return delivery was delayed. They really hit the back of the net when they provided a two man crew to assist moving the furniture back into our home.

Very organized and the move was very smooth. For future moving or storage needs will definitely hire Zippy shell.

The storage unit arrived exactly when they said it would, and they were flexible with us on when they came back to take the loaded unit away which helped us greatly. Once they delivered the unit back to us at our new home, they helped us unload it, being careful to ensure that every box went to the exact correct location. They were quick and very professional. Couldn't recommend them more.

Everything went perfectly. All our interactions with Zippy Shell were very courteous, friendly, and highly professional. Bill worked with me on the scheduling to adjust for some changing circumstances. The container was delivered on time and picked up as scheduled both on the initial delivery days (when we filled the container) and the return day (for us to empty the contents.) In each case, the trailer was parked exactly where we requested. I'd definitely recommend Zippy Shell and would use again when the need arises.

The first stage went very well. I spoke with Bill Shannon, the manager of the Chantilly office, via phone and he gave me an estimate for the loading and storage fee for one shell. He did not do an onsite visit to estimate but based his estimate on experience of storing the items and boxes as I described to him. His estimate turned out to be spot on and the crew was wonderful in making everything fit into the storage shell. The shell went away and was stored at a very reasonable rate at their Chantilly location. The second phase was the actually final moving of all the rest of our house hold furniture and goods. Again, he estimated the cost over the phone and his 28 foot van held all of our remaining items. The crew was wonderful on moving day but they could not control the weather. It rained the entire time they were loading in Herndon and then when we got to Cross Junction there was already 5 inches of snow and it was still snowing the entire time they were unloading. It was a heroic effort with the rain and snow. God bless them all.. It was a long day. They started at about 8:30 AM and did not finish until about 6:30 PM. They remained cheerful and professional for the entire day.

My only complaint was that they could have been more generous in giving us a reprieve from a late charge. We were on automatic credit card payment and VISA required us to change our card. Zippy did not notify me when the card got declined [tho they claim that they gave me call, no message or record of a call on my phone],. When the VISA was again declined a month later and Zippy emailed me, I immediately contacted them with the new credit card #. They agreed to waive the first month's late charge [$35?], but not for the 2nd one saying that once the card is denied, there is an immediate late charge. As a business owner myself, I think that goodwill is worth $35 considering I paid them ~ $1500 in total services. As for the services, we were extremely happy. Armando and Carlos, who did the drop off and unload back into the house, were fantastic.

They were easy to schedule delivery and I just had to load the trailer and they took it to a temperature controlled facility for the duration. All my stuff returned intact and nothing was found broken. I also enjoyed the personal connections with the reps rather than a larger company. Easy to ask questions over email. Would use again but don't plan to remodel anymore!

Bill and team are amazing to work with. They are super responsive and are always looking to go above and beyond. Our parents were downsizing and they made the move very easy. Will definitely use them again given the opportunity. Thank you!!

They were very responsive, very easy to work with, and all of our things were kept safe and sound in storage. Had also done some research and price wise they were very competitive. Would really recommend if you are looking for convenient storage.

The move went great! More than exceeded our expectations! The movers came right on time, wrapped the breakable items in moving blankets and the rest of the furniture in plastic wrap. They packed the zippy shell quickly and efficiently and moved our stuff into the apartment. They were so efficient that it was less than 3 hours total, including a 1 hour drive! We were delighted!

I loaded the container with 1 other person after the container arrived. Setting up the move was a challenge because where I was planning to move and where they were going to store was not what I originally asked for but they corrected it in a timely manner. I stored for 3 months while correcting identity theft and credit issues. I visited the location to put items in and staff was very helpful and the storage was clean and secure.

They were very professional and responsive to our needs. Their prices were more competitive to others offering similar services. Only downside would be that information didn't seem to flow that well as we had to confirm several times regarding drop off. I guess it's better to confirm rather than getting it wrong, then again if you have it in writing and can't deliver, maybe there is room for improvement.
