Hydro-Tech Irrigation Co

Hydro-Tech designed and installed an irrigation system, promising 100% coverage of lawn and beds. However, since installation, there has been an unwatered strip right in front of our front door. Despite our repeated complaints and their repeated promises, Hydro-Tech has never fixed the problem (which would require installing extra sprinkler heads). Then, this spring, Hydro-Tech charged me for a trip they never made. When I called to ask about the charge, the owner (I presume it was the owner, since a regular manager would never get so snotty with a customer) was rude and snotty. I paid their bill, but will not do business with them in the future.

An excellent experience, called ahead, showed up right on time, got the job done and submitted a fair and reasonable bill. It does not get much better than that.

We shortlisted Hydrotech out of 5 companies which gave us estimates. They were the most reasonable price wise and also most established in this business. They satisfied all our requests and did not charge extras for bringing the pipe under the driveway. (Other companies charged $500 extra for that). The only thing -- our beautiful lawn was damaged, as we had been warned. I called Hydrotech to complain about it and two guys came next day and tried to repair the damage. It hasn't helped much, unfortunately and we still have bold patches. I guess the lawn company needs to deal with it now. The system is working very well. After every day watering we switched to every other day as they advised.

Andy was very prompt and responsive. He got started on the job as soon as I told him we chose to go with Hydro Tech even before the deposit check and contract got to him in the mail. We were having new sod and trees put in at the same time and I needed the irritgation company and landscaper to coordinate. This did not go well, but I blame the landscaper for poor communication with both me and Hydro Tech. Andy and his team multiple times went out of their way to get to my house whenever I called and said the landscaper did a piece of the work. The landscaper also tore out an extra section of grass that was not supposed to be done and Andy added on another zone at the last minute to compensate for this. One of the technicians also came out to check the heads and give me a tutorial on how to program the sprinklers. I was very worried about getting this right because we had new sod and were about to go on vacation so we wouldn't be there to know if something wasn't working right. Overall, the project (landscaping and irrigation) was a bit stressful, but that was due to the landscaper. Andy made sure everything went ok and without him I'm sure it would have been a worse experience. I gave the price a "B" rating because I thought it was a fair price. I only give and "A" for price if I think I am getting a GREAT value.

Tech was very punctual, knowledgeable and pleasant. He performed all of his work within an hour, involving five separate sprinkler heads. Work was neatly done, with sod replaced around re-located heads. They had been recommended by a neighbor, and were excellent in all that they performed. Had all necessary parts on his truck. Checked the entire system when complete.

It went well. I was happy with their services.

One of 5 companies that bid on the job, 4 were from Angie's list, Hydrotech was also recommended by the landscaping company. Very prompt response to the request for bid, professional discussion of what I was trying to do and the need for potential future expansion. Not inexpensive given the size of the job, but extremely competitive bid. They worked extremely well in coordinating with the landscaping company and clearly coordinated efforts and timing. Larry did a thorough job in explaining the system. Admittedly we've just gone through tropical storm Andrea and more thunderstorms so have not had to 'stress test' the system but seems to be working exactly as designed. Have signed up for the annual maintenance/spring/fall program. Definitely worth the investment.

Upon submitting my very favorable review of Hydro-Tech to Angie's List, which included the mention of a persistent "hammer Knocking" sound that we had been experiencing since the system was installed, I was contacted by members of upper management in Hydro-Tech. I was showered with apologies and was promptly scheduled for a service call. The repair crew from Hydro-tech showed up on time and quickly installed a Hammer Resistor which has completely rectified our Hammer Knocking dilemma. Great job once again to Hydro-tech and their outstanding personnel base!!

The service was good. However, the company came out to provide spring diagnostic and turn on service 2 weeks previously and I would have expected them to find these issues at that time. I also was surprised that I had to pay the full price (including the service charge cost) because they should have discovered these issues when they were out the first time. I have used Hydro Tech for over 8 years and is the first year I have had these issues.

The technician that showed up for the spring turn-on needs to go back to lawn sprinkler/irrigation system school. I firmly believe he was only going through the motions about being here and made up a bunch of nonsense that needed to get fixed. I have two manifolds and neither are the 4 valve variety he said we needed to replac. Additionally, because our control panel was not the type he was use to seeing, he deemed it in-op. Would not recommend this guy ever showing up again. During the follow-up visit, the company sent Brad A. as the lead technician. What a big difference. Brad was very professional about what he was doing, explaining the issues he discovered, and needed to be repaired/replaced and what didn't. Brad discovered some issues that the first technician did not note, and explained that, although the manifolds were older and not the type that Hydro-Tech normally uses, the were operating just fine. Ditto with the control panel. His motto was if it's not broke, don't fix it. For the reasons stated above, I gave the company a C overall. I would have rated them higher, but the first technician should not be allowed to provide services or quotes for this company. I would give the initial technician an F and Brad an A. The company, when you can get on their schedule, is very punctual, often times arriving early. Their pricing is fair, however, based on what their technician found during the spring turn-on, I probably shouldn't have had to pay the 108.00 for the visit considering almost everything he wrote down was incorrect. I was more than happy to pay the rate and for the items after Brad completed his tasks. I will try them again, and hope the outcome will be more in line with the second visit this year, and not the first.

Outstanding service from start to finish! Andy, Chris, and the installation crew were superb. Andy conducted a very thorough assessment of my sprinkler needs and was the only one of 4 other company representatives that recommended an alternative method to connecting the inside plumbing to the exterior side of my house (as opposed to the front) for both practical and cosmetic reasons. The installation crew was equally impressive. They were professional, courteous and efficient. They finished the job in one day. Lastly, my follow-up inspection was icing on the cake. Chris performed a diagnosis of my entire system in less than 15 minutes. He made minor adjustments to a few sprinkler heads, provided a very extensive tutorial of the control panel, and programmed 3 different ways for me to care of my lawn based on his overall assessment and experience. The total price was slightly higher than the other 4 companies, but well worth it. I will definitely recommend this company to my friends and neighbors!

This company was recommended by the company that we had chosen to do some tree and lawn work for us. Andrew Briddell was our consultant. He was accommodating in setting up a time to meet with us that fit my husband's work schedule. The proposal was put in writing for us to sign. We put down a 35% deposit, with the rest of the payment due after completion of the project. Mr. Briddell was very up front that with it being the spring season, it would probably be about 4 weeks before they would be able to complete our installation. It was completed well within that time frame. The price was not cheap, but it was in the neighborhood of what we had expected to pay. The system installation was just completed today. The crew showed up just as we expected at 7:30 a.m. and worked steadily through the morning and early part of the afternoon. They were very polite and kept us informed with what was happening with the water supply as they proceeded. By late afternoon we had a functioning sprinkler system. Our yard is full of large rocks. They pulled up several large rocks from the ground and transported all of them to a rock pile that we had already formed near the edge of our yard. By the time they left, you could hardly tell that any work had been done in the yard minus a few barren spots near where the actual trenches were cut.

the rep i spoke to took the time to answer all my questions and they really seemed to have the expertise to handle my questions and the job. the cost was more than i expected and so this project has been shelved for now.

Overall excellent from estimate to completion. They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the highest either. They were the most outgoing with information and customer education. Would strongly reommend.

These are early days, but so far no complaints, and I complain about EVERYTHING (seriously). Prompt professional, got the job done with almost no damage to the lawn, it was fascinating to watch. Didn't even cut my FIOS Cable!! We got 3 estimates, they were the least expensive to boot! Do not hesitate.

I was very impressed with Hydro-Tech. From the sales process to the installation day they were great to work with. For a number of years I avoided having a sprinkler system installed because I didn't want to deal with a torn up yard and landscaping beds - but after meeting with Andy and talking through the process (and him answering a long string of additional questions) I took the plunge. The install was completed in one day and included front and backyard and a number of landscaping beds. The job foreman walked through the details the morning of the install and we made a few tweaks and changes before the crew was off and running. The crew not only worked outside but also did work inside for the water supply connection and shut-off. They were efficient, paid attention to landscape plantings (vs just digging through whatever was in their way) and overall were very neat. At the end of the install day it was hard to tell that they were actually there. Most of the job was done by hand; what they dug up they put back just like they found it - including grass, plantings, etc. So, from beginning to end it was a job well done. Overall, Hydro-Tech offers an incredible value - they were slightly higher ($$) than the others I received quotes from but well worth it - with work like this it's definitely about the firm's experience and associated value - I received top notch service the few extra dollars spent on the front end has no doubt saved me on the back end with not having to fuss around with lawn repair and a sloppy job.

The work was done in one day. For the few issues that occurred, they were promptly corrected.

They take care of my sprinkler system. They are okay. Winterization is a simple job, so I don't have much comment besides they came over and did the job. I would suggest others to use them. I wasn't there at home, so I really didn't interact with them.

Overall, Hydro-Tech deserves a very good rating. As stated above with the exception of the knocking sound in the system and the pricing increases, which in this day should probably be expected, we are pretty satisfied with the work Hydro-Tech has provided.

They've always given us good service although I think they're kind of pricey. They're usually fine and I haven't had any problems with their punctuality or their professionalism. I do have kind of a little conflict with them at the moment because someone called in for service at a property I own, but I wasn't the person who called. They went over and serviced it based on somebody else that I don't know. They're billing me for it and I didn't ask for the service. I thought it would've been taken care of, but it honestly haven't and I'm not sure where we stand at the moment.

We got off to a rocky start because the first salesman was a problem for me. First, he had someone call 10 min before his scheduled appt. to cancel. The next appt he made and it was fine, but he never called back or sent an estimate and I was never told by the company why that happened although they apologized. But I have never heard back from that salesman to this day. There may be a reasonable explanation but I never got it. Because the company had received so many excellent comments, I decided to let them send another saleman. Everything from that point on was fine and I would say was excellent. The next salesman was knowledgable and gave a timely reply. The team that came to put in the system was extremely good to work with. I watched them closely and found them to be deligent and professional in every way. It was clear to me from watching them that they knew there jobs. Aside from the first saleman (and I understand that most people would have not given them a second chance), every aspect of my contact with the company was excellent. The C for responsiveness and overall B experience is due to the first salesman. I guess that makes me a kind soul!

I rated this company as a "B" because the design of the system caused flooding in one spot. We had to bring this problem to their attention. They willingly changed out some heads but we won't know if the system is watering correctly until next spring. I would have expected them to notice this problem. Knowing that we had a difficult area, we should have requested an irrigation plan before they started to dig. It might have brought up the flooding problem. .

overall experience was very very good. they arrived literally before 8am and were ready to go. i felt bad bc the day before was around 70 degrees and unfortunately this day was cold and windy. nonetheless, they banged through the job and i how have a state of the art sprinkler system. very high quality materials, the control box is super easy to use, they did a good job expl to me and even gave us a DVD. i was a tad worried as around noon i peered outside and my lawn looked like a war zone but they did a good job putting everything back together. before they left, they tested the sysem and cleaned up, even washing my driveway down. Andrew the owner does a real good job communicating and is very prompt in his emails/ calls back to you. these guys must be good, as they have won some serious business around the reston/ herndon area and I can see why. cheers

They were fine. I had an old system there is always stuff to need to be done.

All work was performed as planned. Crew completed work in one day. Minor sprinler head adjustments and system winterization completed as scheduled. They were a little pricer compared to the two other competitors I received quotes from, but do provide a responsive and professional service.
