One thing that I wasn't too pleased with is I noticed some of the areas didn't get clean well. I have an cat, and my carpet is an stain master. The stain is suppose to come out. Some of the area where the kitty lays, and  where the body oils are at. Some areas weren't as clean. The traffic areas weren't as clean. I think they need to spend more time on the detail. They were punctual and here on time. They responded to any questions that I had. They were here on time, and put the things on their feet. To not track up the carpet. Some companies do and some don't.

The initial response by Servicemaster was acceptable. They responded the same day and took measures to dry out the home and remove debris as part of the initial remediation process. As this damage occurred during the closing day of the home purchase (no kidding), we had roughly 2 weeks before we had to move from our apartment and into the home. Given our situation, we wanted the work done as quickly as possible. Servicemaster told us they would strive to restore the home in the 14 days, but of course said this was no guarantee. We accepted this. While we were disappointed with this situation, we also saw the silver-lining with upgrading some of the appliances, flooring, etc. This is where things went awry. Servicemaster struggled to provide the insurance company with estimates so they could issue those funds. Servicemaster stopped work on a variety of occasions claiming they could not continue work without additional funds, although no timeline for payment was expected when work began. Working with insurance companies, Servicemaster ought to have known it can take weeks for funds to be issued as part of the claim. The 14 days turned into more than 6 weeks, and numerous challenges arose: They ordered the wrong cabinets (style and size), they would show up to work at odd hours (in the middle of the night), and they were generally unresponsive. Similarly, Servicemaster subcontracted the work to carpenters and painters who had a variety of schedule conflicts. Owing to this, as well as the frequent work stoppages, mold grew behind the original kitchen counters when they should have been removed at the time of the incident. We lived in the house with the mold for weeks. I was forced to call Servicemaster corporate, and they were less than helpful. I don't know if they ever resolved my complaint, but it was an altogether awful experience. Although the work was completed (for the most part and not without a lot of pressure) and the quality was fair, I would never work with them again. They may be good responding to emergency damage situations, but do not count on them for any home restoration.

to be fair, the service itself is ok except the price. I was first told to be around $2000. then bumped up to $3500 after the work was completed. fight and negotiation got it down to $3000. still feel frustrated after the repetitive argument. definitely would not use them again.

I contacted Brian at ServiceMaster on Tuesday morning to inquire about cleaning up water damage in my basement. He was very professional and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. Everything went like clockwork. He was punctual and the cleanup took less time than I had anticipated. He removed the ruined carpet and padding along with drywall along one wall. He arrived promptly the following Monday morning to pick up the fans that had been drying out my basement for most of the past week. While I honestly can't speak to the competitiveness of the price (this job ended up being covered by insurance, hence my choice not to rate price), I do believe they are fair and in line with what you would expect to pay for this type of service. Based on my experience with ServiceMaster Falls Church/McLean, not only would I use them again, but I would also recommend them to friends and neighbors.
