Services we offer
Animal house sitting, boarding, waste removal and veterinarian.
I have used Laurel's services for 2 years now. She was referred to me by another pet sitter in the area. Laurel is a trained Vet Tech and is very good at what she does and how she takes care of the animals in her care. She is compassionate and caring. When I would call to check on my pet, Laurel responded promptly. While she charges slightly more than some other area pet sitters, being she is a licensed Vet Tech, that makes it worth the difference in price knowing that if an emergency does arise, Laurel is skilled in knowing how to handle the emergency.
Description of Work: Laurel provided over night in home pet sitting services for my Yorkshire Terrier. In addition, she watched over my house while I was gone, taking care of putting out the trash; bringing in the mail, etc.

I wanted to elaborate on some of the details from my initial review, and the service Laurel provides to me and my very precious girl, my puppy, Katniss. The first time I had Laurel come over, Katniss was about nine/ten weeks old. I was so incredibly nervous about leaving Katniss the first time - going back to work. That said, on Laurel's first visit, I received a wonderful surprise on my phone - a picture of Katniss outside and a note letting me that everything went well. I thought that was an incredibly kind and thoughtful gesture. This extra step on Laurel's part gave me a peace of mind that I cannot describe. Since then Laurel has stopped by to care for Katniss a few more times. Sometimes I will send Laurel a text to check in, and she responds right away letting me know that everything went well. We love Laurel, and will continue to use her services. I can tell that taking care of Katniss is not just a job to her.
Description of Work: Play, walk and feed my puppy.

We relatively recently moved to the south side from the short pump area, therefore, needed to find a new pet sitter for our cat. Ideally, I was looking to establish fairly regular, long term services. Initially, upon meeting Laurel, I had a very good vibe and felt that she had a necessary combination of keen instincts, good experience, and a warm personality. Given that we were still establishing care with a new pet sitter, I opted not to give Laurel a 4 digit ADT pin code, but instead decided that I would arm/disarm the security system from my phone remotely when I was certain she had left the house for the day. By doing so, I was able to essentially see what time she had come/left the house on the first weekend. We had contracted for a 30 minute visit each day (and were paying accordingly), I assumed the time spent at the house would reflect this. Upon looking at the ADT system (times doors open/close) after the first weekend, Laurel had come 18 and 19 mins, shorter than 30 minutes and somewhat concerning, but I thought I would discuss it further with her later if this proved to be a pattern. On the 2nd weekend, my remote access ADT system indicated that she visited for 18 and then 11 minutes. To be honest, I was fairly frustrated and disappointed in what I believe was substandard, dishonest services. I contacted Laurel to seek clarification, esp for the 11 minute visit (for which she took our method of payment). Initially, she sounded slightly caught off guard/defensive and indicated that if pets are not playful, she will usually cut the visit short accordingly. The problem is, she had just finished telling me how playful our cat was (which she is and can likely play for 60 mins straight upon being left alone for any chunk of time. We did have a calm conversation, but I indicated that I found the shotty time frames dishonest and unprofessional, and against the rationale for getting services for my cat. Upon hanging up, Laurel called me back and stated that she felt very badly, therefore, did not want to deposit the checks we rendered for payment. We agreed that she would take the first check, but would return the 2nd one. I value integrity and honesty. As a result, I would have been fine with her saying/leaving a note indicating that she was running short on those days, esp on the day of the 11 minute visit; I would have respected her honestly and very likely would have strenghtened my trust. However, if a professional pet sitter tells me and charges for a 30 min visit, but only comes for 11, I find this problematic.
Description of Work: Provided cat/pet sitting services on 4 separate weekend days.

Very impressed with Laurel....she was on time for our appt., has a great background including work as a Vet Technician, and seemed passionate about her business and animals. In addition, she was concerned I didn't have enough kitty litter, called me, and then was going to go get it on her own...but we were able to connect and I told her where it was. I felt 100% comfortable with her in my home and with my little 'girl'--Spanky...would recommend her highly!
Description of Work: Laurel came and took care of my cat Spanky from 7-3 to 7-6... brought in the mail and paper....

I had to rush out of town and called Laurel for this late notice dog sitting/walk. She responded immediately by phone and text (if you prefer). This was the second time I used Laurel. She is very personable and immediately bonded with our older dogs. She has worked in a Vet's office, can give meds and knows what to do for emergencies. We will be using her again.
Description of Work: This was a last minute deal where I had to run out of town. Laurel responded quickly! She sat with them and took them on a short walk.

Laurel is a Vet Tech with vast experience with all kinds of animals. She has walked my dog Leo on a regular basis when I am out of town, and when I have been ill and unable to walk him since I adopted him from the SPCA in May 2012 and found her through an ad at Kroger. She is extremely professional and my very shy, fearful dog responded positively right away to her gentleness and comfort being around dogs. Laurel will take him for as log a walk as I request and always fits me into her schedule even in emergency situations. It feels good to know my beloved dog is in capable hands when I am out of town, She is a great resource for discussing my concerns about my dog. See above

I love how she is available via e-mail or text for me to check in with her about updates on my dog and schedule changes I may need. I know Laurel cares about my dog and his well being and is attentive to his habits and reports back to me about how he did when I was away and follows my directions for his routine explicitly. And her rates are very reasonable!

I emailed Laurel and asked if she had availability during the next week to come to our house and check on our cat. Laurel quickly wrote back and said she could do it! We set up a time to meet a couple days later, and Laurel arrived right on time. She took diligent notes and had great questions about our cat to make sure she would be able to entertain her and take care of her while we were gone. During the first visit, she sent us a picture and said things went well! We texted throughout the week, and it was such a relief to know that our cat was in good hands. We will definitely get in touch with her again when we travel!
Description of Work: Laurel stopped by for 4 visits, 30 min. each, to feed our cat, clean the litter box, and water some plants while we were on vacation. A few days before our trip, she stopped by to chat and find out how she could help us out while we were out of town.
