I hired Chris to clean out my dryer vent as it had not been done in years. He was very professional and thorough. He did a fantastic job. Will definitely use him in the future as I have other things that I need help with.

Chris and Kristen Merritt of Merritt Homes LLC are second to none when it comes to providing superior service to their customers. I highly recommend them! Due to negligence on the part of the builder that built by house, an incorrect furnace unit was installed in my home that was grossly under equipped to handle the heating and cooling load for the area that it was installed to heat and cool (40K BTU unit for 3200 sq. ft. of living space). Over the past six years, Ive hired three different HVAC companies to repair the undersized unit, as it would shut off and fail to come back on (until very recently I was not aware that the unit was undersized). Each of those three companies failed to diagnose the issue at hand and charged me for repairs that only temporarily resolved the issue for several months but inevitably reappeared.  I finally asked Chris Merritt, the owner of Merritt Homes LLC, to come out to replace the undersized furnace unit. Chris arrived promptly on the day and time that we agreed upon. He immediately recognized that the unit was woefully inadequate for the space and had been overburdened as a result. I was  impressed with his knowledge and candor, and the quote for the replacement of the furnace and AC unit was more than competitive and fair. In fact, the price he quoted for labor and install was significantly lower than two of the larger HVAC companies that I also had provide quotes to me on the very same day. I was immediately clear to me that he is an honest man and his concern for his customers is absolutely genuine. It was an easy choice for me when I hired him to complete the replacement job. After hiring him, Chris quickly scheduled a time to come out (in less than a week, on the day that I requested) and arrived promptly at the time that he said he would. He worked efficiently throughout the day and within a few hours both the furnace and AC were completely installed and functional. He was thorough and took the time to explain and show me exactly what he had done. Even after I had paid him for a job well done, he went above and beyond his responsibilities. The original builder asked for a written statement from the HVAC contractor who installed the new unit. In less than 4 hours, Chris had typed up a comprehensive and detailed description of what caused the furnace issue and provided it to me to in turn provide to the builder. All of the accolades that Chris receives from me in the review are well earned. He is thorough, dependable, and efficient from the very beginning of providing a quote all the way through to the completion of the job (and beyond)! He is an absolute pleasure to work with and I would strongly recommend his company to anyone who is looking to hire an HVAC contractor. If you are wary of the larger companies and prefer a company that emphasizes customer service and care, provides exceptional workmanship, and will go the extra mile for you, Merritt Homes is the way to go!  

Merritt Homes has serviced both my air conditioning and heating units. Chris and Kristen are very personable polite and prompt. Last spring Chris serviced my air conditioning unit to make sure it was running properly. He then came out this fall and did some work on my furnace. He took the time to explain what was needed on the furnace and then replaced my filters.

We have been using AND recommending Chris for a few years. Total professional..honest and he exceeds expectations. That is very rare in this day and time. I can't say enough about he and Mrs. Merritt.

While this most recent repair was to replace a non-functioning & leaking disposer, I would not hesitate to contact Merritt Homes for various other residential repairs. I predominantly rely on Chris for all my HVAC services because he identified & resolved issues (before they caused further headaches) with my system that were left unattended by the last HVAC service company that I had used. He has also done minor electrical work that was necessary. I always refer my neighbors to call Chris for any repairs they have. I highly recommend Merritt Homes for all your needs !!

Our first experience with Merritt Homes was absolutely outstanding. The owner, Chris, demonstrated his experience, expertise and integrity from the start. His analysis of our HVAC air flow, design problem was spot on and he recommended workable solutions at an extremely reasonable cost. The air flow and balanced temperature throughout our home is now the best it has been in many years. In addition, Chris identified and repaired poor workmanship (done by others) in order to extend the life of our system. We plan to use Merritt Homes from now on for all of our HVAC maintenance and repairs. And, itâ s very nice to do business with a local New Kent County company.

From the wonderful lady Kristen who helped me get on their schedule and answer my questions, to when the technician Chris called prior to arrival. Chris took a look at multiple concerns in our home and not only did he educate us on our house, but he gave us options to get the repair fixed, so we could decide based on our budget what worked for us. We were so impressed with his quality and professional work ethic, that we had him maintenance our heating system and replace an old water heater in the garage before he left. This company is the best and unlike large box companies, who only want to take advantage of the customers in our area. Merritt Homes is an AMAZING company! We had 3 other companies come out to give us a price quote, to replace our whole HVAC system. Merritt Homes price and customer service beat the other companies. Chris Merritt was so helpful and answered all our questions. We would definitely recommend Merritt Homes to anyone, you will not be disappointed!

Scheduled a appointment quickly after initial phone call and showed up early. Made the repairs and gave a written detailed description for a house closing. Highly recommend them and will call them first with any plumbing issues.

They are the best when it comes to exceptional customer service. They do what they say they will do. I called them on Monday Memorial Day Holiday. I spoke with Kristen who was very friendly and showed genuine concern for my situation. She advised me that Chris would arrive within 2 hours and he did, just as Kristen said he would. He diagnosed the problem. He let me know I needed a new air conditioning unit. He got to work right away ripping out the old unit. Chris worked diligently for 2-3 hours. He let me know he would return the next day to put a new unit in which he did, all in less than 3 hours. I was able to go to work when he left. In addition to this Chris called me personally the following day to find out if my air conditioning unit was working properly. I was completely blown away by the service that I had received. It doesn't get better than this. Chris was professional, knowledgeable and ensured I knew exactly what I needed. This is what exceptional customer service is all about! WOW!

Great experience (rare when dealing with contractors) - Rich came to my home and quoted replacing both outside hose bibs. Rich was very professional and explained what he was going to do and why. Showed me that I had cutoff valves for both hose bibs that I did not know existed. Pricing was reasonable and service was top notch. Job completed quickly and neatly. Rich screwed the hose bibs to the brick (as they should be) even thought the ones installed with the house were not. As I told Rich when he departed - nice to know I now have a plumber that I trust that I can call when needed. Would use them again for sure!

Job was done quickly and well.

Plumber showed on time but without part to be replaced. Took ~ 1.5 hours to get back with part and another ~1.5 hours to install it. Total parts came to just under $500. Total bill was just over $1,000. I consider $500 for 1.5 hours of actual work an excessive labor charge. I will not use this contractor nor Home Advisor again.
