It did not go well. I don't fault him for the dozen holes in the ceiling as he tried to find space for the recessed lights. I do fault him for moving the central fixture 3 inches to the right, so it's now visibly off-center. A very cheery person promised to come out and look at it--and fix it, I hoped--but that's the last I've heard from the company. More concerning, we got a "free" inspection of our outlets and service panel. Again, a previous contractor had done a shoddy job of installing the outlets. But we were told we needed our entire panel of circuit breakers replaced; that the circuits were not sufficient for what they were carrying,l and that it would cost $3-5,000 to replace and it should be done soon, since it was a fire hazard.I found this extremely troubling, since the panel had been inspected twice. Last month, we had a pipe burst. I took the opportunity to have the panel chekced by the master electrician who was working on the insurance claim. He told me the panel was fine; if the circuits were overloaded, they'd have tripped repeatedly--something that doesn't happen. I'm left with one of two choices: either the electrician was trying to drum up buisness, or he doesn't know his trade. In either case, I will not use this company again,

It went very well, from start to finish. It was so pleasant to deal with what appears to be a competent, honest, company which follows through.

They were great. They were the nicest and most professional people I have worked with. I would have them return in a heartbeat.

We have zero complaints. Bob gave us a reasonable estimate for the job and stuck to it. Victor, who did most of the work, was prompt, professional, and always cheerful. He was careful to check with us at every stage of the work and make sure we were happy with the progress. We had a problem with short circuting near the end of the project, and Victor was able to track it down to crossed wires in a panel installed by a prior contractor. He's a sharp electrician. We definitely will use Beacon Electrical again.

Victor and Luis are the best technicians from any company that I have ever worked with. Polite, professional and very personable. they covered everything in the rooms with plastic, wore booties on their feet and left the house as clean as they found it. They recessed lights in the living room are absolutely beautiful. The new light fixture in the master bedroom makes it look as if the room had been upgraded. The free electrical inspection pointed out several things we need to take care of very soon. There was absolutely no pressure from Victor to commit to the work immediately. He pointed out they wanted us to be aware of issues and take care of them whether it was his company or other bids were obtained. The discounted rates he gave us for Angie's list brought the work price down to an amount we can work with.

We were very pleased with Beacon's electrician and helper, Victor and Lewis. They came to install four recessed lights in our den. Victor made excellent suggestions for the exact placement of the lights and then they got to work, after first covering the floor and furniture with drop cloths and plastic sheeting. They were very pleasant, worked fast, and when they left, everything was back in place and clean and the floor had been vacuumed. Bob Hanifin had come out a couple weeks before to survey the job and did a thorough electrical inspection, making several useful suggestions, and provided an estimate We had taken advantage of a $399 coupon but the actual cost was higher because we upgraded the fixtures and asked for changes in the configuration of the wiring in the room. We were very pleased with the look of the upgraded fixtures. We are quite satisfied with the entire experience.

Job went very well. Bob scheduled the estimate visit with me and gave me a very fair estimate and is clearly very knowledgeable. In fact, he gave me some tips that actually cut down the "to-do" list I had - very nice! Once the job was scheduled, Victor showed up on time and was very professional and also knowledgeable. He not only did the job efficiently and effectively, but he also gave me tips on ensuring that our renovation work is done properly with regard to the outlets, etc. He set up protective tarps, wore booties over his shoes, and cleaned up the area very well afterward. I would definitely have these people in to do work again and actually plan to when it's time to replace my panel.

Very pleased with the overall project. Making the appointment went smoothly, arrived on time, worked clean and professionally, reviewed all aspects of the work to be completed, then provided a walk through answereing any questions.

I got to know about them through their site. They came out in November, and gave a quote for $2300. The gentleman was very nice. I wanted to be there because my mother is older, and I worry about people not treating her well, but after I met this gentleman I had no worries. I did not meet the other guy because I did not stick around when he went through the basement, so with both of the guys we had very good experience. The estimates are maybe off each other by a couple of $100, so it is pretty comparable. They did not work on anything, because it was a quote. I don’t know anything about the electrical work, so I don’t know about the pricing. He was on time; generally he was here when he said he would be here. I am not sure if I am going to use them because it is not up to me, it will be up to my mother. It is just for working in her house and she has worked with each person she came through.

Bob came and gave an estimate which detailed all the added expenses of replacing the electrical panel. He was very professional and informative. The appointment to do the work was scheduled and had to be rescheduled twice, once by me and once by Beacon. For each rescheduling Beacon was very accommodating to my schedule. Victor arrived on time but was only aware of the electrical panel replacement and not the additional things Bob and I had agreed upon. He immediately called in help and Luis arrived promptly to work on the other things while Victor replaced the panel. As is certainly usually the case, certain problems became apparent but Victor was excellent at problem solving. The work took longer than expected but Victor and Luis kept me informed and pleasantly answered all my questions throughout the day, reassuring me that I would get power back before they left for the day. I do feel I got excellent service for a good price. I rated the price with a B because there was one glitch concerning the estimate vs. the final expense which was partly my misunderstanding and partly an omission by Bob but we worked it out and I was generally satisfied with the result. I would definitely hire them again. I must give Victor and Luis an extra shout out for their professional demeanor and all around good attitudes.

I appreciated how iterative the process was. Eventhough we had mapped out where each light would be placed, before each hole was cut, I was re-consulted. They were extremely professional, took their time, and cleaned up! My only gripe is that I bought a "deal" and expected to pay around $400.00. With the upselling and all of the things not included (per the fine print), I ended up paying double. I would use them again, but will never again buy an Angie's List deal -- it was not really a deal at all.

Bob Hanifin was very personable and knowledgeable while walking us through the estimate and completing the electrical inspection. He took the time to understand what we wanted accomplished and what our concerns were. His proposal was done electronically and on the spot and spelled out everything that they were going to do. Victor and Luis showed up promptly and stayed late to complete the job in one day. The quality of the work was impeccable and they left the place cleaner than it was when they started. They genuinely cared about the quality of the work and their prices were lower than some of the other estimates we recieved. Our new panel area is now safer, cleaner, more organized and up to modern standards and code. We even had power during the project. I work from home and needed access to my computer and internet and they faciliated that. We will be working with them again to do the electrical work for our upcoming renovation project. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the work they did.

Met Bob initiallyl to discuss the entire project and any additional work that would need to be done. Bob was personable, honest and professional. Victor and Jimmy were on time, professional. Because of Victor's experience and abiility to be proactive the job was done efficiently and accurately. They were very mindful of my property and left it exactly the way they found it! (It's not often that you will find that kind of conscientious behavior in a contractor.) I also appreciate how they utilize modern technology and are very connected. It really speeds things up and adds to the overall experience. I would recommend Beacon Electric to anyone needing electrical services. Thank you Bob for you and your teams good work.

They are in the process of getting started with the work in a couple of weeks, but they were excellent in terms of responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism.

The experience was great. The guys were personable and very professional. They wore booties and vacuumed when finished. They also were careful not to let my three dogs run out the front door as the electricians came and went. I was able to leave them to accomplish their work while I worked at home.

I have a very large recreation room which was lighted only by lamps. This was not nearly enough. I have no experience in recessed lighting plans. When Bob arrived for the estimate, we were able to have a very good conversation of the best way to set up the lighting. Bob listened to exactly what I wanted and walked me through the best way to see that through. I felt very comfortable telling him when I wasn't comfortable with certain things and he took great care to address them properly. Victor and Jimmy actually did the installation and repairs and they were very professional. They did a great job and everything was done according to the vision that Bob and I had created during the estimation phase. After they finished, they took great care in cleaning up after themselves. Once complete, the room was as clean as it was before they started their work. Great experience overall and I will use Beacon electrical services in the future.

We put them all on the big deal, and they came out to do the stuff. They still have to come and do the service, but they came and scoped everything out. We just have to pull the trigger on the service date. We bought a big deal for them as we liked them. They had come out here and looked at what they have to run and everything. We just have to schedule the actual service date now. I would hire this company.

From start to finish I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with and the work done by Beacon Electrical Services. Bob Hanifin, the owner, worked very hard to get me to schedule my appointment which I so appreciated, more than he could know. On the day of service I received a call 1/2 hour before our appointment, confirming our 8am start time and that the team would be on-time. Victor and Jimmy arrived right on time, had all of their equipment and tools plus drop cloths and booties so not to track around dirt, and after reviewing with me the scheduled work and asking and answering questions, got right to work. The scheduled work was completed plus some extra electrical work based on the electrical inspection. Reccomendations were provided for future jobs as well. Victor and Jimmy were great. They understood the quirky and old elcectrical system in my condo, and both went out of their way to keep my informed during the different stages of work. Their work was professional, efficient, and trustworthy. My condo is also very tiny and they didn't mind having me puttering around under the feet while they worked.When the work was finished they reviewed the work done and the reccomendations, cleaned up after themselves and went on their way.

This experience had a rough start, but given how it ended I will say that there are many businesses out there - big and small alike - that need to take a page from Bob's book on customer service. Beacon was my first pick of electricians from Angie's List, so I called them up. There were initially some communication issues on Bob's end (the owner) around scheduling the appointment, which is why the only grade here that isn't an A is on responsiveness - but to be fair, Bob did say that he is in the process of acquiring some help to coordinate all his inbound calls and scheduling. That will be the final cog to put in place to say this is a shining example of a company that others truly need to look up to. Once Bob realized that I had slipped through the cracks, he went completely out of his way to make up for it. He had his stellar technicians Victor and Jimmy come out that same day to do the work and he also gave a generous discount on the work. Victor and Jimmy were outstanding; they were clearly passionate about their company, were very professional and courteous, and walked me through all the work they would be doing before they did it. I was interested in watching them wire the breaker box (just for my own education) and Victor patiently explained everything he was doing as he was doing it. They were extremely efficient and finished in just a little over an hour. I was also impressed that they utilize the latest technologies for their billing and invoicing - none of that carbon paper nonsense. Once they left, Bob gave me another call to make sure that I was satisfied and again he profusely apologized for the communication oversight. In this day and age so many companies have really lost touch with the art of customer service, so it's truly refreshing to see that Beacon is starting to rewrite the book. My wife and I have plans to finish our basement and do some other remodeling projects, and I can say without a single doubt that Beacon will be the only electrician I will call for those projects.

They are clean and professional as well as friendly and prompt. I would recommend them to others.

I signed up for the deal for four recessed lights for $499 that included a complimentary electrical inspection. The technicians, Victor and Jimmy, called to let me know their ETA and were right on time. The examined the area where the lights were to be installed and made recommendations based on items in the room that needed to be worked around (ceiling fan, duct work, etc.). The were extremely professional and friendly, and their work was excellent. They covered all furniture and surfaces in the room before they began the work. They were very efficient and finished within a couple hours. They cleaned up after they finished the installation, and I did not find any debris left behind. The lighting looks great and makes a very big impact in the room. They then repaired a non-functioning electrical outlet as I requested, and performed the electrical inspection. Victor made recommendations on other issues that he believes should be resolved. They followed up with a quote for the additional work for my review. Overall, this was a great experience and I look forward to working with Beacon Electrical Services in the future, and would be very happy to have Victor and Jimmy back to perform the work.

I have used Beacon Electric twice now- in oct 2011 and January 2012. It was a pleasure working with them from start to finish. They were very responsive, prompt and exceptionally courteous. The electrician Victor took care to ensure he left nothing to clean up on both occasions and freely answered my questions, explaining what he was going to do and ensuring that everything was as I wanted. The whole house electrical inspection discovered some electrical issues that my recent home inspection had not brought up. I will definitely be using them in the future.

We used the special offer that was running on them. We were very pleased with their services. We spent about $2300 on their services. We will use their services again in the future. In fact we want to install some recessed lights in our kitchen and so we will use them again. They had put that on the original invoice but it was around the holidays and we didn’t want to do it then.

The two technicians called to inform me they were on their way and arrived in a timely manner. They diagnosed the problem right away and gave me an estimate. They were careful not tear up my lawn and cleaned when they finished. They also took pictures of the botched original job that was done when my home was built and e-mailed them to me. I was very impressed with their knowledge and professionalism and the ease in which they handled such a big job. Their boss even called later to make sure i was happy with the work. I will definitely use this company again.

The master electrician (Jeff) arrived on time both days and after a walk through went right to work. He kept me informed of the irregularities as he found them, made numerous corrections and worked around problems as needed. He replaced almost all of the outlets and switches on the first day. The next day he came out to replace the box and finish the outlets. He had some difficulty installing the new box, due to some modifications that had been made on the other side of the wall during the kitchen remodel. The new box was bigger than the old one but he managed to get the box installed and put in a temporary support. He was meticulous in his work and cleaned up after himself. There were some holes left in the wall that were needed to get the new box in that needed to be fixed later. Bob worked with my schedule and sent out a carpenter the next Friday to fix the support issue and the holes in the wall. Then I realized that one of the switches had been missed and then the living room fan suport pole broke in half leaving the motor and blades dangling by it's wires. I called Bob and he sent Victor (and an apprentice?) out to replace the fan and do the last switch at a reasonable price. All of the agreed upon work has now been completed to my satisfaction. Over all I was very pleased with their service. They were prompt, professional, accomodating and informative. I have no complaints. .
