I made an appointment without difficulty, and the technician Jesse managed to come to the house ahead of schedule. I confirmed the cost of the service with the technician and was surprised to learn that the office's explanation of rates differed from the technician's explanation. Nevertheless, I went ahead with the appointment, and Jesse, knowing my unease with the quoted price, worked quickly to diagnose and fix the problem. He was curtious, explained what he was doing, and even fixed another smaller issue that was not part of my initial request. Later that night when I discovered the outside plugs did not work, I immediately called the office, who relayed my message to Jesse. Jesse returned my call less than one hour later at 7pm on a Friday night, offered a simple fix (which worked), and offered to come to my house that night or the next day if the situation was not resolved. I was very pleased with Jesse and Beacon Electric and will use them again in the future.

Overall it went very well. The tech was knowledgable, kept me up to speed on progress and did a great job. As with most jobs you do on a house, don't assume that the initial price will be the final price. There is only so much that can be ascertained with a quick look and no open walls. Since I didn't do competitive bids I can't compare costs. I think it was a fair price for excellent work.

I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal for Beacon Electric for 4 recess lights for $499 for my children's playroom in my basement. Before they arrived I determined that I would need 6 lights instead of the 4 in the room and they added the two additional recess lights for $145 each which is a price that I have found in DC to be pretty standard. At my request they also removed a horrific looking set of track lights for $185. While that price seemed a bit high, it was high enough to make me hesitate in asking them to go ahead and get them out of my sight. The electricians were courteous, professional, and very efficient. Jimmy explained the entire job to me before they started, in the middle when it was revealed that the studs did not run in the same direction as they do in an adjoining unfinished area, and when he noticed that due to duct work the lights could not be perfectly spaced, and once again at the completion of the job. I was quite satisfied with the service that I received and I can at least highly recommend Jimmy the electrician if not the company as a whole, even though the entire experience from the time that I contacted their office was very positive!!!

I needed an electrician to come and help with a DIY project that I had begun but wanted to make certain was done up to code and safely. Steven and Jimmy from Beacon Electrical were fantastic and did great work. They were not patronizing about the portion of the work that I had already done, but gave kind corrections where needed and great advice and encouragement for when I expand the project later on down the road. They were very punctual, very courteous, and hard working. I highly recommend this company.

They just recommend that we change the smoke alarms and nothing else needed to be done. The tech was very nice, attentive and responsive.

It went very well from first call, scheduling, phone conversations with the electrician to completing the actual work. The nice thing with Beacon was that the office put me in touch with the electrician who would be doing the work. Victor was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. He patiently answered my questions and set my expectations about what could reasonably be completed within the time frame. I was able to ensure the parts (fan, smoke detector, circuit breaker) I supplied were sufficient for Beacon to complete the work and they had everything else to maximize the actual work time without running to Home Depot..... something I learned from reading other Angie's List reviews. On the appointed day, Victor called ahead and arrived promptly at the appointed time. Both Victor & Miguel wore booties and were careful bringing in their equipment and the long ladder required to reach the 12 feet ceiling. They also laid down plastic sheeting around the work area. Miguel started on the fan while Victor checked out the circuit breaker. It turned out that the circuit breaker did not need replacing after all as it was just a tripped GFI. The circuit breaker was my "lay-person's misdiagnosis" of power outlets not working. Trouble-shooting is not part of the Big Deal but as Victor was able to locate & reset the tripped GFI rather quickly, he said it was FOC (free of charge)! I greatly appreciated that! In addition to replacing the one smoke detector, Victor also interconnected that to two other smoke detectors that I replaced earlier (again my bad, for not connecting the 'orange' wire). He then tested to make sure all three sounded as they should. After Miguel completed the fan & fan switch installation, he tested and showed how the controls worked. He also tidied up and move the furniture back to its original position. I am very pleased with this particular Big Deal. Prior Deals did not work out well, either with scheduling or other limitations with scope of work or materials offered. Not only did Victor & Miguel do a terrific job, they also schooled me in the basics - which I greatly appreciate. Will definitely call Beacon again.

The Beacon Electric team of Steve and Jimmy arrived ahead of schedule, (they called first to make sure it was OK to come early)put on their shoe booties at the front door and then asked me exactly what the problem(s) were. They went right to work and fixed the two outlets that had been giving us problems and were fast, knowledgeable and VERY POLITE, cleaned up after themselves very nicely (including hand vac the small wallboard cuttings that fell on the floor). I have already scheduled a revisit to install pendants over my kitchen island and to do a complete electrical check of our home (house is 22 years old). Great working with these guys.

I first had Beacon Electrical in to install bathroom lighting that I had purchased. I was pleased with their work so I purchased the $499 deal for four recessed lights. I asked that Steven and Jimmy, who had done the first job, come back and they did a wonderful job. They ripped out my old florescent light and installed the 4 new recessed lights in my kitchen in no time. Steven recommended putting them on a dimmer and it makes such a difference. The lighting is great! It looks fantastic and they hauled away my old big ceiling light and cleaned up so you couldn't even tell they had been there. I plan to have them back to install more lights in the near future.

Bob Hanifin (owner) and Victor Figueroa (project manager/installer) were very easy to work with and both did an excellent job of explaining the work being done. Victor was thoroughly professional in his approach to the work and completed the jobs within the time frame proposed. I would use Beacon Electrical Services for my future electrical needs without hesitation.

Beadon Electic found that my electric panel was out of code when performing a survey after installing a new attic fan late last summer. They told me that there was a current Angie's List discount for that service. I agreed to have it done. When someone came to do the work, he found that the original survey was incorrect and he did not have all the supplies needed to perform the work. Beacon would cover the additional material cost. This put the task at the end of the line so to speak. It was several weeks later that the second visit occurred. The job included more than an hour of exterior work to replace the cut off box. It started to rain, so that day's work was cancelled. It was rescheduled (again) for several weeks later. That was the day that Hurricane Sandy come through. Back to the end of the line. During these waits, the supplies were stored in my outdoor shed. Finally a worker showed up on a dry day. The work went quite smoothly. A second worker came came to help run the connector from the outdoor switch to the panel location. It took most of the day, but power was turned back on in time for dinner. The work easily passed Virginia code inspection and the inspector complemented the quality of the work.. The only lesson from this is that if you have work done by a highly rated (and deservedly so) contractor, you probably cannot count on having it done immediately, because there won't be extra capacity to deal with unforeseen delays. I discussed this with the owner of Beacon Electric, and he says he doesn't know of a solution. It is a side effect of being in high demand. I agree and would not hesitate to use Beacon again, and hope for the best.

Outstanding experience! Victor and his associate were great at communication and were on time and efficient! We had no problem scheduling a time for installation and they asked us to select which circuits we wanted to include ahead of time. There were additional charges for the gas company and we opted for several upgrades. They did a great job and came back twice to be sure everything worked perfectly and we knew how to operate the generator correctly and maintain it. I couldn't have been more pleased!

This was a deal posted on Angie's List for Beacon Electrical Services. The deal reduced the prize of 2 hours of labor from $278 to $119, a 57% savings. I thought it was a good deal so I signed up for it. A day or two later Beacon Electrical contacted me through email and we agreed on a date for the work to be performed. On the agreed upon day of service, two electricians showed up on time. We talked over what I needed done and they quickly got to work. They worked as a team and moved with a purpose. They installed 3 exterior electrical sockets and another inside the garage. At the completion of their work they showed me the final product and I could see that they used quality materials and had completed a top notch job. They ensured I was satisfied with the job before they left. Both electricians were competent and professional. I highly recommend them and will definitely hire them again. Ed Miranda

Beacon Electrical did a great job. We had to have some updates completed in our house and some other things fixed. They came and gave us their estimate. All of the jobs were completed in 2 days. They even kept the cost below the estimate. All of the staff we interacted with were great.

I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end! The person who answered the phone and scheduled the work was very friendly and professional and worked with my schedule. Steven called ahead of time and was at my house (with my happy agreement) an hour an a half early! Steven and Miguel did a fantastic job. They were very good about putting up plastic to protect cabinets and floors and keep the dust from the rest of the house. They were professional and knowledgeable and came up with quick solutions when faced with unforeseen circumstances. My house was built in 1940. Steven was helpful in explaining the process and what needed to be done. Miguel even crawled into the space over my kitchen to find a better solution!! I was amazed at how quickly they did the job and how clean the kitchen (and rest of the house) was after they completed the job. I love my recessed lights!!!.....and would highly recommend Beacon Electrc and Steven and Miguel.

Victor, the team lead, was very proactive, contacting me approximately a week before the work was to be done. He was very patient on the phone and asked the right questions in order to get the information he needed to perform the job. Victor explained what was needed and the various options that were available to me. Here's a good one -- Beacon will purchase all supplies and charge the customer cost, no mark ups. I exercised this option and it saved me loads of time and ensured I had the proper material. Victor and Jimmy arrived right on time as coordinated. Victor and Jimmy introduced themselves and immediately started surveying the job. They were extremely efficient, explained their services, surveyed the task, and immediately started the job. They did not waste a second, ensured they understood my expectations, and went right to work. They tackled an extremely difficult job and made it look easy. The construction of the house compounded their task, but they easily overcame all obstacles. The job was done quickly and they stayed on task. Victor and Jimmy were extremely friendly, displayed the highest level of professionalism, and kept me informed on what was happening. I was extremely satisfied with the services Victor and Jimmy provided. They stayed on task, were extremely cordial, and again, demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. I would highly recommend them for any electrical services and would definitely use them in the future. Fantastic job, outstanding guys, and great company -- they are more than worthy of being an Angie's List provider. Job well done, extremely satisfied customer. The technicians called the day before my scheduled appointment and told me a 2-hour window in which they would arrive. The morning of my appointment, they called again about 20 minutes before they got to my house. They arrived right on time, at the beginning of the window they told me, and worked diligently the entire time. They were very polite, wore shoe covers when inside the house, and explained to me exactly what they were going to do before they did it. They also gave me advice on various options for adding lighting in multiple rooms of my house and explained to me which options would have the most/least drywall damage as well as the prices for those lighting options. When they were finished, they performed a complimentary whole-house outlet safety inspection. They did all of this in about one hour. They were very professional and helpful - I would definitely use this company again.

I knew with an Angie's List deal I would be subject to further solicitation the day of the service - and I was right. Soft sell, not too bad. Installer worked quickly, did not notify me of additional costs for 3" segments of wire which significantly increased cost of outlet upgrade. He agreed to re-install bathroom light fixture over the sink for an agreed-upon price, but did not identify any installlation challenges and quickly left before I could see he had installed it off-center with an exposed hole in the sheet rock. I am reserving judgement on Beacon, but would give the installer a D-.

We bought an attic fan to help cool our upstairs. The company arrived on time. The employees offered me an opportunity to buy a better fan with a lifetime warranty (as opposed to the special offer item with a limited warranty). They did the work quickly, even though they had to go out and buy a part they didn't have with them. After they left I found some parts that were left behind and areas where they didn't clean up. So apart from that i was pleased with the experience.

From the owner to Jesse the electrical lead to the gas line installer, it all went smoothly. Very clear on pricing and options. First class work which easily passed both inspections. Generator installation and testing great. New panel and receptacles all work well. Recommend the firm highly with special kudos to Jesse. And you'll save alot of money with Angie's deals.

We purchased a house fan to blow out all the heat from our attic and it was an easy experience. The guys came in, offered me a stronger fan to pay extra for on the spot and installed it with no issues. They cleaned up after themselves too!

The Big Deal was for a new electric panel for $1,999, but we needed a bit more than that. Over about a five-month period, Bob Hanifin and crews led by Victor Figueroa brought our electrical service into the 21st century, replacing the old screw-in fuse panel with a modern circuit breaker panel and, among other things, installing GFCI sockets near the kitchen sink and in the first-floor powder room, and running a new line to the basement workbench. Victor and his guys proved to be expert, professional and good- humored. Their work was exemplary, with attention paid to detail both inside the house and outside. Outside proved to be the main frustration, as the main service cable ran through a screen porch that was added on some years ago – a clear code violation that had not been mentioned when the porch was built. Finding a new way to run the cable proved to be frustratingly difficult, given the impediments faced by Dominion Power. Ultimately, after some creative thinking and a good deal of effort by Dominion Customer Projects Designer Brandon Arnold, a path was devised. After that, it was just a case of timing; a sort of intricate dance involving Dominion’s crews and Beacon’s. Through it all, Bob Hanifin and his guys were timely, pro-active and unfailingly professional. Of course, just as great athletes can occasionally stumble, we had a bit of a misstep that needed repair. To his credit, Bob immediately stepped up without question, paying for an outside craftsman to handle the repair and make things right. In the end, the guys at Beacon Electric did an excellent job, despite having to field some curveballs. Their work was done in an expeditious, professional manner, obviously aimed at making sure the customer was pleased. I can heartily recommend Bob Hanifin and the people of Beacon Electric.

Beacon Electrical Services offered a Big Deal for two hours of work for $119. The service tech came on time, handled the work we had identified (primarily removing and replacing outdoor light fixtures by the front door as well as dealing with a short in some outdoor lighting) professionally and efficiently, was courteous, took care not to track dirt into the house, and cleaned up fully after performing the work. We would be happy to have him work here again. It also should be said that, although Beacon does work in Maryland, this special deal was not originally intended for customers outside of Virginia. Due to some confusion regarding the posting on Angie's List, that restriction was not noted. Because of that Beacon said it would honor the deal even though we live in Maryland. It did so to our great satisfaction.

The contractors arrived very punctually and completed the job in record time. They were couteous and thoughtful throughout the whole job and did everything in their power to make this a pleasant experience for my parents and me. The workmanship was excellent and the job has passed inspection by the county and is performing perfectly. I'm very, very satisfied with this company and the men they have working for them. The office staff is great to work with as well!
