I purchased a 7k watt generator off an Angies List Deal. Since the crew was coming out, I also wanted my main house panel replaced. The team came out and walked through the steps they needed to complete to finish the work. It took two days to complete with no issues. The guys even worked in the cold and rain (I really expected them to pack it up but they stuck it out). Once the generator was installed, they coordinated with the gas plumber to install the line and then worked with the county to get everything inspected. I like them so much, I had them come out again for a different repair.

Technicians showed up on time. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. They took the time to explain to educate us, explain our options, and the benefits and drawbacks of each course of action.

Provider responded promptly to schedule work and arrived on time; they did an excellent job of scheduled work and also provided an estimate for additional electrical work. Estimate for additional work was reasonable, and extra work was completed. All work was outstanding and all provider employees were professional and courteous. I would use this provider again and would certainly recommend to family, friends, and neighbors.

Our experience with them was very good. The gentleman that they sent was exceedingly conscientious and hard working. He explained exactly what they did by showing us and I liked that. He was great. The price seemed very fair to me. We do need them to do some more stuff.

They responded quickly, were very respectful when talking with me on the phone. Too bad they did not service my area they sounded like a great company to use.

I have no complaints about the work that was done. I am not happy with the owner because he refuses to give me the 5500 credit that I was told I would receive. He gave me a credit of 3500 and now he is saying that I owe him. I just want the 5500 credit that I was promised to me. I'm really disappointed with this process he keeps sending me a bill stating that I owe him money. I don't want my money back I just want him to honor the credit. I would like for Angie's List to resolve this manner for me.

The process was fairly simple. I bought the deal online and scheduled an appointment. The electrician was on time and did a good job installing and cleaning after him. I checked the roof after he left and it looked good. One issue though is that the electrician told me he set the thermostat at 75F which means it will be running almost all the time from spring to winter and he was fine with that idea. The recommended value is around 100 F and an electrician should know better. No big deal since I can easily change it but there are folks who may not know how to do that.

I purchased the Big Deal - $119 for 2 hours of electrical work. It took almost exactly 2 hours to perform the work. We wanted a basic track light installed over our island in the kitchen. This should have been an easy job (that we could do ourselves), but the junction box had way more wires coming into it than it should have had, and it was wired for a dual switch... but there was only one switch. Our house had been flipped, so who knows what kind of electrical work was done to cut cost. We needed an electrician to do the re-wiring for a single switch, so I bought the Big Deal. When I called Beacon to set up the appointment, the person that answered was courteous and helpful and worked with me to find the best time for the electrician to come out. When I gave my information, she was able to see my Big Deal purchase in the system - which made it easy on me, I didn't have to look up the order number or print my receipt. Beacon called me the day before the appointment to confirm; then again about 30 minutes prior to arrival. The electrician re-wired the connection to a single switch without any problem. The junction box for the island light was located off-center from where the light needed to hang, so the electrician cut a hole in the correct location and was able to fish the wire through the ceiling to the new hole. This kept us from having to repair the drywall afterwards. After the wiring was done, he installed the light - including the three globes for the pendants. The electrician showed up within the specified window of time, reviewed everything thoroughly with me before doing the work, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. He also made sure that I was pleased with exactly how the pendants were hanging, and that I felt everything was level. I very much appreciated this since it's the type of thing I tend to be OCD about! The job we had done was fairly simple and straightforward, but I would definitely have Beacon Electrical back again if we needed further work done.

I made an appointment with Beacon Electrical Services for an estimate due to the consistent excellent reviews they have received on Angie's List. I was given a four hour window.. First, Jesse called and said he would be there shortly, which was at the beginning of the window time. I was very pleased. He spent a lot of time explaining and offering many options trying to accommodate my needs and finances. Jesse's professionalism was probably one of the best I've encountered in a very long time. Although I know nothing about electricity or generators except turning on a light switch, I was amazed at how hard Jesse worked to explain and make a plan that would be suitable. In my first career, I spent a great deal of time in customer service. I have taught customer service to first contact employees up to and including the corporate level. I will definitely choose Beacon Electric and work with Jesse to complete the work for a portable electric generator. In addition to his customer service skills, he is obviously very knowledgeable. Attending to customers' needs is lacking in so many businesses today. Jesse, who represents Beacon Electric, has restored my belief. I look forward to working with Jesse and Beacon Electric.

Installation went extremely well. The technicians were friendly, professional, timely and knowledgeable from start to finish. I will use this company for all electrical work in the future.

Purchased this on the Angie's Big Deal. Bob (the owner) came to the house about 6 months later when I was READY to do the upgrade. He inspected our entire house and recommended several repairs which the electrician would do at the time of the upgrade. The initial electrician did a less than satisfactory job. He had some personal issues which impacted on his job performance and was let go. Some of his work did not meet code requirements. The owner immediately rectified the problem. We had to have the county inspector out twice. On the initial inspection, he pointed out several things which were incorrect or not to code (done by the original installer). I called Beacon and they were very responsive to fixing those issues pointed out. Most of these issues had to deal with interpretation of the electrical codes but in the end, the inspector is always right. Beacon was responsive and made every effort to satisfy us. Would I use them again? YES. Bob is easy to deal with, the office staff excellent and responsive. Their technicians were simply superb.

Took a while for the Mechanic to show up at the scheduled time. Overall I am satisfied.

Two electricians arrived on time! Quickly grasped the work that needed to be done. They rewired, worked quickly, and didn't try to drag out the job. Great two professionals they sent to our house!

I had purchased one of the Big Deals: 2 hours electrical service for $119. Beacon sent 2 electricians who installed a new light, removed and replaced a dimmer switch, changed an outlet that was controlled by a switch, and then replaced an outlet in the garage that had been overloaded/burned out from using an incorrect extension cord. Additional cost came from having them install a whole house surge protector in the electrical panel. They explained everything they did, and we were completely satisified.

I purchased the big deal for four recessed lights, but I actually needed six so I paid the difference. Beacon Electrical was very professional and they showed up precisely on time. They were careful to cover everything in the bedroom to minimize the dust getting everywhere and they cleaned up well afterwards. Very happy with the service.

We purchased an Angies List Big Deal for $3899 for a 7KW generator, transfer switch, permit and installation from Beacon Electrical Services on a last-minute whim on August 29th 2012, soon after the derecho in the Northern Virginia area which knocked out our power for approx 3 days. The "Deal" was for a 7KW, but we had not done any research yet to determine what size generator would fit our needs. Having buyers remorse since I had purchased on a whim, I contacted Beacon Electrical the next day and spoke with "Dee", who advised us that, if we found that a 7KW would not work for us, we could get a refund through Angies List, or Beacon could put the coupon toward a larger unit. Knowing that the Big Deal coupon was valid until Feb 15, 2013, we took our time with trying to figure out what we wanted to have powered. When we finally decided to focus on getting the ball rolling, we contacted Bob Hanifin, and he came to our home the next day. Based on what we told him we wanted to power, he advised us a 20KW would be the minimum size necessary; the 7KW for $3899 would not be sufficient. He sent us an estimate for the 20KW generator via email the next day. The price for a 20KW was $11,260, including a 200 amp transfer switch, permit, installation, and pea gravel base. Wow... huge jump in cost! So, we delayed once again in making a decision, knowing that we'd also have to pay for a propane tank, regardless of what size generator we got. Unfortunately, we delayed so long in making a decision to go with the 20KW, that Hurricane Sandy occurred, and the availability of 20KW Generacs was nill, and it would be several months before one would be available. We finally signed the contract for a 20KW Generac on Nov 13, 2012, for $11,260, and were told it would probably be February before it could be delivered. The generator was delivered on Mar 11, 2012 (delay was not Beacon's fault), and installed by Victor and Jesse on 13 and 14 Mar. They arrived as scheduled, and called to let me know they were on their way. A friend, my husband and I had already gone through the house and figured out what circuits powered what (our electrical panels were poorly labeled and incorrect), and we prioritized what circuits we wanted, and marked the circuits with colored tape, indicating the priority. This is how we told Victor and Jesse what circuits we wanted powered. Victor and Jesse worked professionally, and well together, and there were no language barrier issues between them/us, which was great because we ask a lot of questions. They dug out an area and created a pea gravel base, and installed the generator right where we wanted it. We have TWO 200-amp electrical panels, and only ONE could be powered by the transfer switch, so they had to move several circuits from one box to the other so that the transfer switch was connected to just one electrical panel. The installation process took 2 full days, which was the estimated time they said it would take. We then had to wait for the propane installation (another company did this), which took a few weeks to finish/complete due to weather. Victor and Jimmy tested the generator on April 17, 2013, and all worked great. They contacted me to let me know they were on their way, and arrived as scheduled. Dee notified us by email that the Fairfax County inspection would be on Apr 18th. All passed. We decided to sign a 1 year service contract for $225, and Beacon found a couple of existing breakers that would not pass code, and replaced them for $140, and added 2 more breakers for another $140, so our generator cost actually totalled $11,765. The whole experience with Beacon was a delight ("A" for everything), with a couple of exceptions.... Early in the process, we were sending emails to Bob with questions. He was extremely busy, and did not respond to them, so we found it was better to call him on his cell. In our many conversations with him, he was extremely patient, professional and helpful. The other issue was with a wire that was not tightened securely in the panel on Mar 13th or 14th... Our GFCI tripped late one night afterward, and we called a neighbor to see if he could figure out why it tripped. He pulled the panel cover off, and that's when we saw that it was arcing/sparking. He tightened it for us. Despite these 2 issues, we highly recommend Beacon Electrical, and look forward to having them service our generator for us on a yearly basis.

I received an email from Angie's list for a deal for 2 hours of electrical work for $119.00 from Beacon Electric. After checking the reviews for Beacon Electrical Services and finding they had very good comments I purchased the deal and was contacted that day by Dee. She asked what electrical services I needed and we exchanged emails, text messages and I sent pictures of where I wanted to replace the fixtures. Dee was very prompt and pleasant to work with. She made my appointment and I was able to get a window of what time the workers would be at our house. Victor called me the day of the appointmenet ahead of time to let me know they were close to getting to the house. Both Victor and Jimmy were very professional and did a great job. They kept me informed and made sure everything worked perfectly before they left. I already have an estimate for more work for Beacon to do in the near future. I would highly recommend Victor and Jimmy and Beacon Electric.

We purchased an Angie's list deal for $1000. We knew there would be extra costs due to the size of the job (although I cannot imagine a house small enough to be served by the offered deal). We also asked for some other small jobs to be added on, so the extra expense was not unexpected. The service people were very nice, but disorganized and because of the amount of time it took them to complete the work, they did not do part of the service offered (inspecting outlets throughout the house). They seemed competent, but inexperienced. No major complaints--just not a super experience.

Technician explained the approach and clarified that drywall repair was not included. Did a thorough job in ensuring proper placement of lights in dining area but when he was not successful - was honest about it and explained why. We re-arranged the lights to the hallway and he was able to complete installs for all 8 with just 2 drywall holes.

The crew arrived shortly after the 8 am scheduled start time and finished about 2 pm. The work went well. I was kept interested and informed. I marveled at how much faster they were able to install outlets than I am.

It was a disappointing experience, given the fact that I communicated the fact that the work would be performed in a condominium. The tech stated that the new exhaust fan had the air flow coming out the side and the existing exhaust fan has it coming out the top. The tech from the first estimate I received from Walls Electric stated the new fixture would fit (I did not use Walls because of the price). As a non-professional I thought the problem could be overcome with flexible vent pipe but Beacon Electric did not agree. I will continue to look for an electrical contractor that can do the job correctly at a reasonable price.

Overall, Beacon Electric did a great job. They were on time, professional and they were exceptionally clean. They had to fish some wires and cut out some dry wall, but they cleaned up and left no evidence of dust, etc.

I'm sure this is a great company and has great servcie based on many positive comments left by Angie's list members. However, I called the company and also sent an email requesting a quote or an appointment and explained the work I wanted done (replace aluminum wiring in my house) and I haven't heard back. It's been 10 days, so they receive a D in responsiveness from me. I'll try another company.

They were fabulous, they did the best work, and now we have these beautiful recessed lights thanks to them.

Very good experience. I had a new service panel installed and got an estimate for a whole home generator. On the panel installation there was one minor issue discovered after the electrician had left. I left a voice message after hours. Within 10 minutes, Bob, the owner, called me back. They worked with me to get someone back out the next day that would fit my schedule and the problem was quickly resolved. Not the cheapest, but good value!e
