My experience with Beacon Electric did not start off well but, in the end, Beacon came through and made it end well—and to my satisfaction. I scheduled an appointment for the afternoon of 11/3 to have a pendant light installed over a kitchen island and have a foyer chandelier removed and replaced with a new chandelier. I called that morning to confirm that I was on the schedule. Despite receiving assurances that the workers were on the way, they were not able to show up until about 7PM that evening. Clearly there was a miscommunication. When the workers arrived, they were pleasant and apologized for the misunderstanding. They quickly provided an estimate of cost for the work and suggested adding recess lights to kitchen to complement the pendant light. However, given the late hour, I had to rearrange my schedule and take an additional day off from work to have the job completed. Once the business manager was made aware of my issue, he called to apologize and ask how he could fix the problem. I suggested discounting the cost of the recess lights, we agreed upon a satisfactory amount, and the work was scheduled for Friday, 11/7. This time the workers called about a half hour before the appointment to confirm they were on the way, they arrived on time, and promptly completed the work as agreed. This was my second experience with Beacon Electric (the first was stellar!) and, despite the mishap, I would not hesitate to contact them again. The take-away here is that Beacon Electric is run by humans and they’re not infallible but, if they make a mistake, they will admit it and work with you to fix it.

They were friendly, knowledgeable, answered all my questions and really worked hard to put me at ease. I only didn't go with them due to price which was about $1100 more expensive than another Angie's list contractor. However, I will definitely give them another opportunity to compete for any future work due to their professionalism.

The electrician was very pleasant and helpful initially and explained what he would do. Well of course, I didn't have an existing switch and wiring in place (there was a wall switch) so that was going to be extra and the lights I already had in the house didn't match what he had so that was going to cost extra too. By the time he was done quoting me the price had doubled. I was also offered a free electrical inspection. His partner went down to the basement unescorted and took the cover off of my electrical box and "surprise" found a loose wire. That's very dangerous and it will cost me $100 to screw it back in place. My husband was home at the time and took one look at the guy and told him to leave. We asked them both to leave and haven't called them back. The whole thing left us a little angry and the electrician seemed more worried about how we'd review him on Angies List than how angry we were. Wouldn't do business with him again.

It was super easy to schedule a day and time that was convenient for me. Steve did a excellent job! He called to say he was on the way. On time. Very professional and knowledgeable. Covered floors and surfaces. No dust or trash left behind. Great experience! The recessesed lights look fantastic and added much needed light to our kitchen. So glad we did it.

I purchased the $99 whole house electrical safety inspection special the company was offering on Angie's List and when I called the company to schedule the inspection I specifically told the scheduler that I had purchased the special because I was having a problem with the bedroom lights flickering and I wanted to identify the source. She said OK and she would make a note of that for the technician to check when he arrived. When the technician arrived two weeks later he stated that the diagnosing of the lights flickering problem was not covered by the electrical safety inspection and that I would have to pay an extra $175 if I wanted him to diagnose the flickering problem. At the conclusion of his inspection he found no safety problems but did recommend that I purchase a $350 whole house circuit breaker. I feel like I was victimized by the classic bait and switch. 10/23/2014 update Beacon contacted me and admitted a mix up had occurred with the service technician and gave full refund on my $99 coupon. They are true professionals!

Carlos removed the existing ceiling fan and assembled and installed the new fan and light fixture. A professional from start to finish. It took two weeks to get the appointment, although part of that time was my availability. Also, I sent a message to the vendor asking two questions. I received a canned response that showed it was clear my message was not read.

Beacon had done some prior work for us at a reasonable cost, and very well done. I had an emergency and had no power in certain areas of the house, and no phone line. I have a family member that needs access to a landline phone. Beacon found a way to re-route their day and got someone to my home, fixed everything and gave us an estimate on some much needed work to be done. Based on all our experiences with them, we went ahead and signed the estimate. Work to be done soon. We recommend them. No drama, no fuss, just plain old good work at a reasonable cost.

This experience has been a calamity from start to finish. On the first visit, to make an estimate, there were key pieces of the estimate missing. I had to pester Beacon to get a full estimate. When I did, it was double the amount of the coupon! (Yes, there were some extras I had requested, but other fees had been "hidden" until the final estimate was received. I requested a second estimate and this one was far more reasonable. I decided, despite misgivings, to go ahead. When they came to do the install on the agreed-upon price, they did not actually make an installation! Instead, they installed two lights: the one in the coupon and another one they encouraged me to evaluate. Classic bait and switch. I told them I would be happy to look at the new light, since it was brighter and I would need fewer of them. For all I knew, the price would be a wash. So I requested a third estimate for this new configuration. I never received it. Furthermore, the installer was neither friendly nor professional. This last tactic was too much for me and I decided to cancel the coupon. I would not recommend Beacon to Angie's List members since they are unprofessional and always just skimming the edge of being underhanded.

It was good. They were prompt, clean, professional, and did a good job. He did upsell, but we probably needed it. We would use them again in a heartbeat and have recommended them.

The service went very well. I purchased a property with some electrical issues and some outlets did not work. They were able trouble shoot the issues and repair the outlets. One electrician came out and completed the job within the 2 hour time frame. He was courteous and knowledgeable. They were also professional and I had no problem scheduling the deal.

They did a terrific job installing the panel. We are very pleased with their work. They have been easy for us to work with. We will be using them for more electrical services.

They could not do the work, because so much other work needed done to bring everything up to code first.

If you are interested in installing a generator this is the only company to use. These guys seem like they could install a home generator in their sleep. Their price was great, service was fantastic, and they even give you their personal cell phone number AFTER the installation to call anytime with questions. Not only that but they took about 45 minutes answering questions from me initially. Bottom line, you are an idiot not to use these people if you are considering a generator. They are probably great at other things too but this is all I did with them.

They are doing the electrical. They are very personable and do very good work. We have used them about three times.

It was great! Our home is nearly 40 years old and some of the outlets were very loose, the plugs didn't stay in. I called and the work was scheduled at a convenient time for me within a week or so of my call. The technician arrived on time and got right to work. I'd already marked which outlets we wanted to replace. He was finished in under 2 hours, no mess, he took all the old parts with him. I was also happy to see he was someone with experience, I had kind of expected we would get some trainee who was just learning to do the job. I would love for them to offer this again so we can do the rest of the outlets in our home!

They actually honored a quote that was a year old! Stephen did the work and he was very careful and did and excellent job.

Initital estimate was scheduled on a timely basis and the electrician arrived within the arranged window. He did an excellent job explaining the scope of work and presenting the estimate. The work was completed the following week. Again the electrician arrived on time and was extremely efficient in completing the work as described. I would highly recommend using Beacon.

We had a 40-year-old electrical panel that we had been informed was a fire hazard. We called several electricians to get estimates for replacement. Beacon's representative arrived punctually to give us an estimate. Knew exactly what our issue was and gave us an informal estimate on the spot and a formal one the same day by email. Beacon's electrician arrived promptly on the day of service and finished replacing the panel well before the eight-hour time estimate we had been given. He also checked the outside electrical connections to make sure they were safe. When the county inspector came out afterwards to inspect the panel and connections, he said the electrician had done a "perfect" job. Beacon handled the scheduling for Miss Utility and the county inspection. We did not have to do a thing. The price quoted to us was about $100 higher than the next highest estimate we received, however it was well worth it. There was some drywall damage that happened during the panel work, but the fact that this would occur was fully disclosed to us at the time of the informal estimate. The damage is not extensive and can be easily fixed. All in all, we are very happy with the service provided by Beacon.

Beacon is my go to for any electrical needs. I moved into a very old house in need of some electrical care and have had Stephen out on multiple occasions for various jobs. Stephen and Beacon are top notch in terms of quality, professional, price, communicative and punctual...everything I ask for in a contractor

Beacon was great! I needed a cable jack installed in my living room. The line had to be fished through the walls and ceiling to get it where I wanted it. Heidi in the front office was very on top of everything, helpful, and friendly. Carlos was super professional, responsive to my needs, and explained what he was doing along the way, which I really appreciated. He did a great job.

Contracted with Beacon last summer to do a 200 amp panel upgrade on my single family home. I also asked them to install recessed lighting in 2 rooms of the house as well. The recessed lighting all turned out very well. Unfortunately, the panel upgrade was done very sloppily and when the city inspector came to the property, identified that the contractor had not bonded the new panel as required. He also noted that the new meter which had been installed, but not yet connected by the power company, was left completely open and not sealed. The power company called when they came out the next day to inspect the site and noted the same deficiency and insisted that the contractor come and seal the meter so that debris, birds, squirrels etc couldn't get into it and cause an issue for the installers that would eventually come out and connect the new meter. After some run around, Beacon came back out (another day off work for me) and bonded the items, but again, forgot to seal up the meter. Another upset call later, they came and sealed it up. Very frustrating. Eventually, all was fixed. My only reprise was that the manager who ended up coming out to bond everything the first guy didn't do, stated that he would give me a reduced rate on future work and install a surge protector at no cost, when I had more work done. Fast forward to this week, when I needed a hot tub 220 outlet installed. Of course I called Beacon since they'd said they would happily come out to try and satisfy us due to the previous experience. We already had 3 quotes from other A listed Angie's List electricians with 200-400 A reviews, so figured Beacon would at least match, if not beat the other competitors. Wow, was I wrong. Their price match policy says that they ONLY price match other providers with 600+ A reviews. Basically, since there are only 2 other companies with that many reviews, they don't price match. They came in at $2000, $800 higher than the other estimates. The thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the initial conversation I had with the President of the company Bob, and his subsequent emails. When I first contracted with him, he used a lot of scare tactics talking about other companies and how they'd be the best, etc. If you've had this guy to your house, you'll recognize the language as soon as you hear it. Well, sure enough when I forwarded him his competitors quotes for the work, he did the same scare tactic, saying that things were "serious red flags," etc. Absolutely ridiculous. I know people in this part of the country are used to paying higher prices than other areas, but scaring people to use your company and over-promising and under-delivering is NOT a good way to do business.

Denise and Heidi at Beacon were very customer focused and understood our needs right from the beginning. Denise was able to empathize with our not so successful search for the right electrician for the small job we had and set up the appointment with no "minimum" fee for a quote. The other 2 unnamed electrical companies (also members of Angie's List) required minimum amounts to be able to quote a price for the job. Heidi called to confirm our appointment 24 hours prior to the scheduled time. Carlos arrived promptly, was knowledgeable about our needs and gave us a quote. He came on time and finished promptly and was IMMACULATE in his work. We will have more electrical projects in the future. I am the Director of Catering at a Hilton Hotel in the area and will certainly recommend Beacon for electrical projects here; as well as for the other 12 properties in the area owned and managed by the same group that owns our hotel.

Found them to be over priced in comparison to the other highly qualified “A” rated professional on Angie’s list in the area.
