They came by yesterday and accessed what needed to be done. They provided me with a quote which was way more than the deal I had purchased. I asked for the break down and I did not receive that. I decided to cancel the service.

I bought a big deal from Beacon Electrical Services for an electrical panel upgrade a couple of years ago but for various reasons, I did not schedule the services and the deal had expired. I contacted the provider and spoke with Heidi, explained the situation, and confirmed that although the deal had expired, the funds already paid would be used toward the current work. Heidi was very friendly and confirmed this without question and set up an appointment for someone to come to my house for an estimate. Victor and Manuel called about 45 minutes prior to arrival and arrived exactly on time. Both were very professional and friendly. We discussed the work I was considering. Victor said that they were going to honor the big deal price. (They not only honored the amount paid previously but also honored the big deal price, even though it had expired.) I had several other things I wanted completed and Victor and Manuel were very helpful explaining my options. They provided me with an estimate and they are trying to set up a time to complete the work in the next couple of days. I had another contractor who arrived at the same time and they were very accommodating with their time when I was talking with him. I am very impressed with the quality of service I have received and will provide an additional review when the work is completed.

They were on time, professional. They very nice. They took care not track in dirt, they put on the booties. They took down the fan and packaged it up. They did the install very nicely. I asked for a second opinion on my breaker box. They told me it would need to be brought up to code and quoted a price of about $500. Tony and Victor did an excellent job; I would give them A+++. I will have them come back and replace the outlets in the spring.

They were fine. It went very smoothly.

Two people came out and it took them about two hours. Basically they are the only guys that do that. They were supposed to come back for something else but they completely forgot.

Victor, from Beacon Electrical Services, came to our home on January 26th to give an estimate for the work we wanted. He came exactly on time, listened to everything I had to say, and answered all my questions. He explained how they would do the job and explained how he worked out the estimate, which was within our budget. He then told me about the company and their employees, emphasizing how customer service was their top priority. He did an excellent job. His professionalism and thoroughness were outstanding. He made me feel that the company really wanted to do this job. I was really impressed with Victor and decided we would go with Beacon after meeting him. Francis and his crew arrived a little over a week later. The job took several hours. At several times during the day, Victor would show me what they had completed, how the work was going and what remained to be done. He kept me informed, step-by-step, of the progress, making sure I was satisfied wit the work. When the job was completed, they did a superior job of cleaning up. The quality of the work was excellent. I highly recommend Beacon Electrical. From beginning to end, everyone was professional, courteous, and went out of their way to make sure I was happy with everything. We will definitely use Beacon Electrical Services for any future electrical needs.

We bought an angie's list deal through this company. They were very honest. They told us that if we upgraded to what was stated in the deal that it would be more money and shared the cost with us. The lights look great and have never had any problems with them. We are very satisfied!

The electrician was absolutely great! They gave me a report in a timely fashion. I felt the price was reasonable.

Update: Within 48 hours after my original review I got a phone call from the Beacon Electric Office Manager. Due to my work schedule it was a couple days before I could return the call. When I did, the Office Manager apologized for my original experience and said that was not the kind of service Beacon expects of itself. I was offered a significant discount and a time and date of my choosing if I would consider giving Beacon another shot. I know that no one (or no company) is ever perfect, so I agreed and we set a date of this morning at 8:00 for Beacon to return to do the job. The two electricians arrived promptly at 8:00. They were very professional and did their work in such a way as to not disturb my working from home. They replaced both light fixtures and made the adjustments I asked for. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves, taking away all of the packing materials. They put the old fixtures in my garage so we could donate them to Habitat for Humanity. They replaced the electric box for the 20 foot foyer fixture because the original builders grade box was not rated to hold the weight that either the old or new fixture put on it. The new box is much sturdier, so I have no fear that the light will fall when we move it for dusting. They also advised me that I should change my upstairs smoke detector because the plastic has turned beige from aging. He told me the color change is a good indicator of needing replacement. I'll buy and install the new detector myself this weekend. After an unfortunate start Beacon turned my experience around and hit it out of the park. I am completely satisfied with the work they did, and I will definitely keep them on my list for future electrical jobs. I appreciate that they were willing to admit their original error and step up to make it right. As a result, I am basing my grade of their work on today's experience and disregarding the first time as an anomaly. Based on positive reviews on Angie's List I took a chance and contacted Beacon to replace two hanging light fixtures. I very clearly and specifically told them that one of them was approximately 20 feet above our foyer. The service was scheduled for between noon and 4:00pm today. I got a call from Beacon at 2:30 telling me that the electrician was finishing a job in Woodbridge and would head to my house after that. At 4:00 I called Beacon and asked where the electrician was. They returned my call and told me that the job had run long and the electrician would be on his way soon. They asked if he could come by late. I said okay, and about 20 minutes later got a call from the electrician that he was on his way. I described the job and he told me that he couldn't replace a 20 foot fixture. That's a two person job. I advised him I had figured that, which is why I was very particular about it when I made the original call. He said he might be able to replace the other fixture but the foyer fixture would have to be scheduled when two people could come. He told me all their people were on a big job and he was the only one out on other calls today. While waiting I took the opportunity to call Beacon and lodge a complaint. I was told I'd be called back. I was not. He arrived at 5:00pm. By that time there was no way I was going to let any work be done, so I just asked that he give me an estimate. He spoke knowledgeably and what he said made sense. The quote he gave me seemed pricey, but I'm willing to pay higher for high quality work. Beacon needs to understand that the first time they are called to do a job they are auditioning for work beyond that first job. Beacon failed badly in this case. Now I'll be doing what I should have done from the start and I'll call a few companies in for estimates. The situation with one of the lights is not safe. That's why I wanted it done today. Now I'll have to cross my fingers and hope nothing happens while I try to figure out who should be my electrician going forward. Beacon has a very big hole to climb out of if they want to make it onto the list for consideration. Their only saving grace is that I was teleworking today. If I had had to take a day off for this I would have been furious.

The service was good, they did everything they had to do with the service. The staff and owner were extremely nice and knowledgeable. I would tell a friend to talk to the owner if needing work done. What stood out the most was the friendly nature of the owner. He sits down with you and takes time to explain what his company can do for you.

They replaced outside lights and fixed a light switch. It was fine. It was simple and they did a good job.

They arrived on time. I thought they were very expensive almost twice the next quote I got. I felt they were trying to up sell a lot of things by adding unnecessary items. They gave me inaccurate quote it stated twelve lights and it needed sixteen. I responded to them and asked them to correct this and they never responded back.

They are absolutely fantastic organization. We had a very complicated installation because of the gas company but they're extremely professional and very proactive. Jessie was the electrician and he is absolutely superb. Don was the gas installer and he was good in dividing a way to stall a gas line without doing any internal damage to the drywall. The company was very responsive and I would give them the highest recommendation. We had a very critical situation.

Victor arrived a few hours after we called Beacon. It was after hours but he showed no sign of impatience or need to get done in a hurry. He all kinds of tests and diagnosed our problem. He did a temporary fix and said he'd be back next day. He gave us a price and said they'd call to make sure we'd be home. We had a family emergency the next day and were unable to have the work done until two weeks later. We explained to the receptionist our problem and they were very understanding. After we returned home two weeks later, we called and next day Victor showed up to complete the work. While doing so he said he smelled burning plastic. He investigated and found a socket in my kids room near where he was working had been arcing and the wires were badly scorched. He repaired this also while he was there and probably saved us from a dangerous situation. He also cautioned that we should have our other sockets checked and replaced. He gave us a price to do this and change out all of the other sockets. This is the second time we used Beacon and the second time we were very pleased with them and especially with Victor. The owner called us to check how everything went and if we were happy. Not many companies do that nowadays. It's very refreshing and service oriented.

It was okay. The lights were installed and we're pretty happy. I don't know if we're kind of wowed. I guess it was what as advertised. The men came in and they were working. It was good enough work. The initial deal had one style of recess for the thing that goes in before the lamp. We didn't like it so we purchased four additional. We purchased something that was a little bit better. The lights are still working. What we didn't do and I guess that was not part of the deal, the finishing job. When they left here, there was some hole in the ceiling. We didn't actually sort of complete the work, aesthetically speaking. Whatever damage was done in the ceiling as a result of the installation was not part of the deal. That's the only outstanding thing from that project. The work was fine but the reset style I didn't think was impressive. I wasn't here but I don't think my wife was very impressed with that person. The quality is good. I would give it more research before I use them again.

They were great and very responsive. We had to take picture and set to them to avoid paying for onsite inspection and we did a conference call with them. The two gentlemen that came did a neat job and were very professional. We asked if they could move it just a little bit and they accommodated that. We were very impressed with those two gentlemen. We got a unit which was in the big deal. We took pictures so they know that they unit would be far from the propane gas tank. They were very nice and double checked everything. They delivered what they advertise and they did a clean job. They were very helpful and wanted to make sure we were happy. The two nice and professional gentlemen was Frank and Victor.

Had an issue where my spare bedroom lights were flickering and I had that "burning smell" in the air. Called beacon around 8:00am and spoke to a receptionist. She advised a tech would be dispatched between 10:00am and 2:00pm. Got a call from the tech (Francis) who said he was on his way and would be here at 10. He actually was at my house at 9:50am, so that was a plus. Francis did a detailed inspection (about 2 hours) then presented a list of options. Initially he tried to sell me a new breaker panel since I have a FPE. I know FPE's are dangerous because he is the third electrician to tell me that; however, that's not what I called about. I declined the breaker panel replacement and we negotiated the price for the work that I had initially called for. He said he would troubleshoot my issue, but couldn't make any promises due to my FPE breaker panel. Francis troubleshoot the circuit in question and he found the issue to be a semi melted outlet half way through the circuit. Francis took the time to explain to me the outlet had the hot and neutral wires reversed on the outlet and the screws were loose, so that was what caused my issue. He replaced a total of 6 outlets and now my lights work great. For the work performed, I think the price was fair.

Fine. They inspected the electrical system.

Very well. At the first visit the technician was to do the whole-house review ($99 special - very good deal); he also spent about 2 hours trouble-shooting the dead outlet, but ultimately could not locate the source of the problem. He did not charge me for anything that visit ($99 was prepaid) since he was ultimately unable to locate the problem, and he said upon the return trip to install the can lights they would trace the problematic outlet. Another technician returned on December 5th to install the can lights; that technician was able to trace the problem to another GFI that we did not know about; he also resolved the issue with my other GFI, and got my coach and deck lights and outlets on again. He did not have the sensor on hand; I called back to remind them that he had promised to return (we didn't have to be home) to replace the outside sensor on the coach light. Beacon sent someone out immediately to replace the sensor. The sensor had not been on the invoice - that's how it was forgotten, but Beacon did not charge me for the sensor or the extra visit. I would estimate the technicians worked at my house (in all 3 visits together) for about 10 hours. The $2000 covered everything - all materials (can lights, switches, and assorted supplies) and labor. I felt I got a good deal, and their work is beautiful. They also cleaned up behind themselves exceptionally well - no dust or debris left behind at all. The can lights are beautiful, all the outlets are in working order, my coach and deck lights are back on, and my coach light turns itself on and off again with the sunlight sensor. I'm very pleased with their work and will definitely use them again. In fact, I plan to call them back in the spring to replace my smoke detectors.

THIS COMPANY USES SCARE TACTICS TO PRICE GOUGE YOU. MOVE ON TO ANOTHER PROVIDER. I usually never leave reviews. I chose to contact this company because of the # of positive reviews but I feel like these have to be tempered with the reality of how this company practices its trade. We awoke on Jan 1 with an faint odor emanating from what we thought was our electrical panel. We shut off some breakers and I started calling some providers. Called Beacon, spoke to a pleasant receptionist, said I would get a return call in an hour. One hour later, no call. So I called again, was told the same thing, up to another hour. Finally got a call about 2 hours after my first call. Tech was on the way. The technician came in, assessed the panel, said there were some breakers overheating, they should probably be replaced. Simple enough. Went to his van to draw up an estimate and came back 20 min later. Gave me a presentation about how his company was great, highly ranked on Angie's List , all their work is backed by a 5 year warranty. My wife and I listened patiently. Then he gave us option A- replacing the 5 breakers and checking the outlets and switches on the affected, with a 90 day warranty in excess of $2800 or option B- the same as option A but replacing all the switches an outlets on the second level for $4600. The estimate was price gouging at its finest. He said things like, I'm sure you want to keep your family safe, your house is so beautiful I'd hate to have anything happen to it, the people who installed your panel are known for cutting corners and I'm sure there's something wrong with it. At this point my wife and I began to ask questions about the price, scope of services quoted etc., he even admitted it was a bit high. But he couldn't really answer why we went from 5 breakers to a quote that included replacing (not just checking, but actually replacing) all the swithes and outlets on the affected level. He basically admitted that it didn't need to be done and he kept insinuating there are problems in the system and that the original company must have cut corners He started asking about how much I thought was fair but at this point I was in no mood to negotiate with a company that simply saw my issue as an avenue to mislead me into paying THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for a repair that I would estimate at hunderds. I even asked him to break it down by labor and cost of materials and the Option A came up to $1700. Then why are you quoting me $2800? Mind you that's at the quoted hourly rate of $400/hr. Um....did you say $400/hour? The tech was pleasant, don't get me wrong. I felt that he was trying his best. But I think there was a lot of fear mongering going on. We have a large house, and I think the presumption that we 'could afford it' was probably happening as well. Finally, I think implying that another company did shoddy work is unprofessional, especially when there was no evidence of anything shoddy to speak of. He even used words like 'it's probably just marginally up to code". Really? Meeting code is binary it meets or doesn't meet code. What is 'marginally' up to code? The clincher, second opinion from Root electric on 1/2/15. Bill came out, did a much more throurouh assessment and essentially said he saw no reason to rush into any replacements and that the panel looked fine. He also vouched and touted the reputation of the company that installed they panel and said they did a nice job. Talk about professional. That will now be my go to electrical company. He texted back and forth with me, gave me peace of mind that we could see if the problem manifests again. IF it does need repair I won't be calling Beacon.

When I called the first time, the person took very little information from me and never called me back. I waited a week and called back and spoke to Heidi, who handled things immediately. Steve came out and gave us a quote and we were able to schedule the recessed lighting installation the next week. Vince did the service (we requested a non-smoker) and was very efficient and then lights look excellent! The job took less time then estimated. We would definitely use Beacon Electrical again.

I had gone through several estimates and Beacon Electrical had the best offer. They came out and waited for the NOVEC employee in the pouring rain, for the power to be turned off before the replacement. They gave us 10 minutes notice prior to us losing power so that we could turn off various appliances. The box was replaced within an hour and they contacted the county inspector to ensure the work was done up to code. Once the inspection was done, they contacted NOVEC to turn back on the power. The whole service was done in less than 3 hours which was fantastic. Other contractors quoted us 8-24 hours that our power would remain off and 3 times as much in cost. Beacon Electrical was professional and easy to deal with. They worked with us and gave us the best possible service. I plan on hiring them to do many other projects that we have to do.

When they guy came out he said that we did not need the panel swap out and he did other electrical work instead. We were pleased with them. They got the job done in a day and a half and the cleanup was fine.

The company arrived on time and was very professional. The work was completed in a timely manner and they cleaned up at the work was completed. I plan to use them again.

He worked with me to discuss all the possibilities on how the job could be done and we came up with an agreement of what was the best way to tackle the job. After agreement he got to work and finished the job to satisfaction.
