Fabulous! I've been going there for 6 years now. The ladies that work at the front desk are always friendly and courteous. I've never had any issues with anybody there. I don't have trouble making appointments with them.

My appointment went very well as usual. I've been going to Shapes for over 5 years and have always been satisfied. I have had haircuts/coloring, pedicures, brow waxing, facials and massages over the years and have always been pleased with the services.

The environment is probably one of the best spa environments I have been in.  It was very peaceful.  The staff was great, friendly and punctual.  It was a great spa experience.  The quality of the service was good.

I've been going to Shapes for hair cuts for many years, but this is the first time I tried their Signature Facial. It was absolutely wonderful! It was a very relaxing hour-long service that included cleansing, exfoliating, and extraction. I felt great afterward and my face is still glowing several days later. This was my first facial ever and I now I think I'll make it a monthly thing!

I also had a spa manicure and pedicure that weren't quite as impressive. I would have expected more massaging and pampering since these were the pricier "spa" services. I felt like my feet barely had any time soaking in the water.

Fortunately, Shapes was offering all three services at a 25 percent discount the weekend I visited. This made the pricing very reasonable. I would have been happy to pay full price for the facial, but the nail services seem overpriced for what you get.

Overall, I recommend trying Shapes, especially if you are lucky enough to get a discount!

I have been going to Shapes for the past 8 years for mostly massages and once for a facial.  I have seen several different massage therapists over the years and they have all been really good.  They ask if the pressure is right and if you have areas of concern.  They keep the lights low and do not try to chat with you during the massage unless you want to.  I always feel relaxed and taken care of after I leave.

The whole experience was fabulous. I originally scheduled my appointment with another stylist but when I arrived I was promptly told that stylist was running behind. Instead of making me wait, they offered to put me in with Emily. I was caught a little off guard, as I was expecting to see the other stylist, but it could not have worked out better!
I showed Emily my ideas and explained what I didnt want and was able to figure it out exactly. Im in my lower 30s and still wanting to be trendy without trying to look too young. Emily took my vision and blew it out of the water! I am so unbelievably happy with my new style. I cannot wait to go back and maybe even try something else new next time!
I use to have my hair cut in top salons in NYC and I can honestly say that this cut is the most impressive Ive ever had!

I have been going to Shapes for 10 years for hair services, specifically to Jackie for the last 4 years.  She does a great job on both cut and color.  I use spa services occasionally and have been happy with my services there.

Honestly -  when I walked in it looked like a great place.  I was impressed by the decor.  The stylist was professional and for the most part my hair was styled OK.  I have thick/coarse hair and as a result I was charged extra because my hair was thick and took too long.  Absolutely outrageous.  Hair is hair and for a basic wash and blow out there should be NO such added charge, especially when the stylist is the one that took too long to handle the hair. It was New Years Eve and I did not want to complain however, it is highly disappointing when a salon feels the need to impose these petty fees just to earn a quick buck.  I also checked the website prior to and there was no warning or indication of these fees. I prefer my run-down hidden gem salons that do not penalize clients for thick or coarse hair just because their stylist are incapable of managing and handling the hair - if you can't style ALL sorts of hair, go find another industry.  I will NEVER be returning or recommending this place and the stylist was NOT tipped due to the fact that I was NOT notified PRIOR to my style of this alleged charge.  You should ALWAYS let a client know how much a style may cost and roughly any added fees they may accrue so they may either choose to accept or deny it.  Had I known prior to I would have left since those fees are completely insulting to myself the client.  The way I was styled I could have done a better job at home - that style was not worth $60 and that fee was definitely a slap in the face.  Never again. If you have coarse/thick hair be warned you may get penalized for that just like I did, just a heads up before you go.

Diane Le (Fairfax location) is absolutely wonderful!  She is a very talented hair stylist who stays up on the latest technology, listens to my needs, very user friendly, and is very attentive.  When I first met with her over 5 years ago, my long curly hair was "very angry", and is now polished, professional, and stylish.  In addition to monthly trim, enhancements (we do not call it color!), I do a custom "smooth control" twice year which makes a huge difference in my hair - very soft and smooth and easier to style.   She also offers a number of other specialties to include eye lashes, Great Lengths extensions.  I continue to recommend Diane Le at the Fairfax, VA location of Shapes Day Spa.

I have been going here for 12 years for haircuts and color.  Great salon, great cut and color, great service.  I go to Jackie, but most of the stylists have been there for several years- also a good sign of a stable shop.

They were great! Esther was my massage therapist and she was wonderful! I had been under a lot of stress and she worked it all out of me! She asked me what level of pressure I wanted, then checked to make sure whil she was doing the massage. She was firm and was able to work out my worst knots. The pedicure was good too, but the massage was excellent!

I made all my appointments a week before via phone.  I requested a traditional pedicure, spa manicure, eyebrow wax and haircut with a Sr. stylist.  They were very good at scheduling everything and I showed up and didn't have to wait long.  The spa was very nicely decorated and quiet.  The woman who did my eyebrows was very nice and did a great job.  Next was my pedicure and manicure.  The pedicure was nice, no issues there.  But when it came to the manicure, it started to go downhill.  I bite my nails, I know it's a bad habit, I fully admit it's an issue and I try my hardest not to bite them.  However, this doesn't mean I don't deserve a parafin treatment to soften my hands, and a coat of paint to make my fingers a little pretty.  As soon as the technician took my hand she said, "You bite your nails?", I apologetically said, "Yes, I know it's a really bad habit, I'm trying to get over it."  For the next 15 minutes, she'd make a comment every few minutes on how bad it is, how there's very little for her to do with me, and so forth.   I am a paying customer that deserves respect and not running commentary on my faults.  Then at the end, she had the nerve to say that basically the "cure" for my habit would be more manicures...yes, that's the way to win my recurring business, embarass me then tell me you can fix everything.
Where the real disappointment occured was with the haircut.  I requested a Sr. stylist, I haven't had a good haircut in three yearrs and have gone to over 10 salons in the area looking for the right fit.  I was willing to pay up for a good stylist because I was hoping I'd find someone special and also I had a very important reason to get my hair right - my husband was returning from Afghanistan and I wanted to look my best. The stylist was cold, unfriendly, hard to understand, and difficult to work with.  I brought her pictures of myself from a few years ago so she could see the length and style of bangs I wanted.  I told her I wanted lots of layers and explained that the last place I went to did this 5 level thing and it wasn't blended well so it looked like I had levels in my hair.  She immedietely displayed dissatisfaction with my wanting lots of layers.  I don't know if it was because maybe she didn't think it would look good on me, but if that's the case, which I would've welcomed recommendations, that's why I went to a Sr. stylist, then she should've communicated that to me.  Instead she rattled off a bunch of things, but she had such a thick accent, I couldn't understand what she was saying.  I didn't want to seem rude, so I tried to repeat what I thought she said to confirm, and she just looked at me and said, "What do you want?".  She didn't cut the bangs the way I wanted, when I asked her to go shorter, she barely made any change and then she said, "Ok you can separate the bangs like your picture using product."  The whole point of the picture was the mimic the length and cut.  I stopped asking her to make changes because she just seemed to be getting annoyed.
Then when I went to pay the price was lower than a Sr. stylist, so she was actually a Jr. stylist!  So I went under the pretense that I was going to a Sr. stylist and I got a Jr. instead.  They properly charged me for a Jr., but what a waste.  The haircut overall is fine, not great, but I could've gotten the same cut at a Hair Cuttery for half the price and actually been treated nicely.
I guess the search for a good stylist continues.
