The process started off smoothly, but quickly became a nightmare. Eddie Whelan is the owner and GC, and I can honestly say that I have never dealt with someone that had such a blatant disregard for detail or lack of care for his work. Frankly, I would be ashamed to put my name on the detail work in this home. I am personally going to have to come through and redo a large portion of the trim work, we have doorknobs that are falling off, light after light burning out, unfinished or shoddy work throughout, trash strewn all over our property (including beer bottles from his laborers), damaged cabinets, unfinished exterior work, damage to our neighbors property and the list just keeps going on and on. We were guaranteed to be in our home by 9/1/17 and we blew through 5 deadlines and finally moved in the week before Thanksgiving, costing us thousands of dollars for additional living expenses and extra moving costs. He simply did not care despite our constant pleading to actually live up to his word and complete our project in at least one of the repeated deadlines given. His lack of presence on the job site spoke volumes about his level of dedication to our job (we had to literally install a game camera on site to keeps tabs on how often he was actually on site). He has no site supervisors and his subs frequently complained about not having what they needed, or any direction on what they needed to do. On many many occasions, we were the ones that had to communicate with the subs to ensure what needed done got done. It was both saddening and infuriating to be told that things were done or would be done and then to come behind and find out after the fact that there was minimal truth to a majority of his promises or guarantees. I would not wish our experience on my worst enemy. The amount of stress, anxiety and frustration was unreal and completely unnecessary. We truly feel that we dramatically overpaid for the quality of work that we received and would not recommend this builder/company to anyone!
