This did not go well. I initially contacted Richard's for an appointment in mid June; the earliest appointment I could get was 31 July. At the time that I made the appointment I explained that the house has a central air conditioning system as well as three heat pumps that service 9 registers through out the house. I explained that I wanted all units checked out. The technician arrived in the middle of the two hour window which had been arranged, but seemed irritated that he was assigned this job. His demeanor was very short, saying only that "I needed to clean the filters". I guess he was too busy to do that, even though I would have gladly paid for him to do it. While he was checking the central air conditioner, I received a call from the office to inform me that the technician would not be able to check the heat pumps because they were manufactured by Mitsubishi. I explained what I told the phone operator when I made the appointment, and asked if I was supposed to know that I needed to specify the manufacturer of the heat pumps. The answer was that I was not expected to know that this would be an issue. The end result; I was told that I would need to schedule an second appointment next week for the check of the heat pumps because it was "impossible" for them to be checked today. I believe keeping the schedule is far more important to Richard's than proper service. After checking the central air conditioner, the technician told me it needed to be serviced with Freon, but he didn't offer to do this; when I asked him now much it would cost, he even tried to talk me out of it! Again, I believe this is because the schedule drives behavior at this company. I told him that I wanted him to service the air conditioner. After about 20 minutes the technician told me the air conditioner also had a bad valve; I asked him if he know the valve was bad when he initially told me the air conditioner just needed to be serviced; he said he did not know. So much for the initial check that was supposedly completed! After another 15 minutes, I was told the part would need to be ordered. Because I don't want to start over with another company, I will have Richard's finish this job. However, after this is complete I will never use them again. Will update this if the job is ever finished; completion is estimated to cost in excess of $500.00 02 October 2014 update. I was never contacted by the company to replace the broken valve so after two weeks I called them. They were unable to give me an update on the phone that day (they could not find any record of the visit or broken part which they were supposedly ordering), so a few days later I called back and was eventually put on the phone with one of the owners of the company. He was trying to get the broken part, and promised to call me back the following Monday with an update. That was approximately two months ago and I have never received a call. In summary; in every measurable category Richard's Heating & Air Conditioning failed miserably. I would NOT recommend hiring them to do anything!

Scheduling was easy despite clearly being very busy, likely due to this deal. We had a morning window for the service (8am-12pm) and we received a call about 10 minutes prior to the technician arriving for advance notice, which was nice. Tom (the technician) arrived shortly thereafter and performed the work, followed by feedback. Everything went well and as expected.

He was very nice and got the compressor running and changed a very dirty filter. However, it turns out he did not clean the line and this subsequently blocked up.

All went very well. Serviceman was very informative. Based on experience, signed a service contrat.

They were courteous, knew the equipment, and showed up when they said they would. Initially, I expected them to contact me by a certain date, but I ended up calling them before that and was able o schedule something with them earlier.

I've seen the DATELINE NBC specials about crooked AC repair companies. So when my AC broke, I was stressed. At noon, I called Richards. They said they could come out the next day, and I saw an Angie's List coupon for $50 for diagnostic call. They said just buy that, and give it to the tech. I asked them to call me if something freed up today. Two hours later, they called and asked if I could be home in thirty minutes. In 27 minutes I arrived at home, and the tech had been there a minute already. He came in, and fixed the problem by TURNING THE SWITCH ON. Of course, I have no idea how the switch (mounted on the furnace) got turned off, but that's beside the point. Then he did a careful system check, told me I was using the wrong size filter, and went on his way. He could have totally told me that while he was there he noticed I was low on coolant, or had a busted framus or something, but he didn't. Maybe it's a small thing, but I think people who are honest in the little things are honest in the big things. I'll use them again, for sure.

This was the second company I got a quote from and they were literally thousands of dollars cheaper than the first company for the exact same make and model HVAC system. That would have made me nervous if they hadn't just installed a new furnace at my parent's house. Sure enough, they were professional, we got a great product, and we saved thousands of dollars. For something of this scale, it's definitely worth checking out prices.

We had to wait about three weeks for them to come out, but everything turned out very well in the end. They correctly diagnosed and repaired the air conditioner's issue, they arrived on time, and they clearly explained that there may be additional fees if they find any problems. Ultimately, the unit is running just fine thanks to them.

Sotina came out and did a tune-up, but much to my chagrin, my old AC (19 years), kicked the bucket. Sotina was honest with me and weighed the pros/cons of repairing the ancient AC vs purchasing an entire new AC system for my 1000 square foot condo. I then spoke with Matt Dicker who was able to estimate the cost of the new system. [I knew the general ballpark amount of replacing a unit like this (as I checked with a friend who lives out of state and owns an AC company)]. Ordering, delivery and installation was very easy. Richards was very professional, courteous, timely and thorough every step of the way. Bryan and Aerial were the two main technicians on the installation and while it took all day (8:30-4:30), I'm now very happy to have AC! I highly recommend this company. They seem to genuinely care about their employees and it shows! $80 for Big Deal Tune-Up $5800 for AC install ($1000 of that was for the crane, which was needed to place the AC unit on the roof of my condo)

I signed up for the early service window (8 am - noon) and when the tech didn't show up by 12:20, I called the main office. After checking with him, they apologized for him running late but said he would be there in 15-20 minutes. After he showed up, he performed the maintenance check-up in just over a half-hour. He was very professional, closed and locked all doors/gates when he was finished and didn't try to "up sell" me to a service plan. Overall, a very good experience with Richards Heating & AC - - I will use them again.

They provided the air conditioner at a better price than competitors, provided prompt and efficient installation and also have excellent customer service. I highly recommend them. Everyone I dealt with was polite and highly responsive.

Good: Great deal on coupon. Fixed problem. Negative: Charged $100 extra for cleaning the filter. He hosed the filter in our yard and said, "we'll charge you a little extra for labor." Really, $100 for hosing down the filter?

After they left our A/C unit started to make a strange sound. I called them back and they are going to come back out. I thought they were pretty good. They showed up on time and they were courteous. They sent one person out to do the job. They got the job done in about 40 minutes.

All I did was create an appointment and then cancel it. They were friendly the whole time. Will use them when I need them.

President, John Smith, himself came out to go through options and make sale. Very knowledgeable. No hard sell. Good price. $9400 included furnace, ac, and water heater, prior to a $500 rebate. Excellent installation team - worked well together. Professional and courteous. Good follow-up. One hiccup with a faulty valve two months in which they replaced immediately under warranty. Very happy with product and service. Have yearly maintenance with them. Would highly recommend.

Never got a call after paying for the service

Was able to repair the AC quickly. So far the freon has held and no further repairs have been necessary

I had verified with the company before I bought these deals that they service the type of A/C unit I have in my home. However, the day of the service (which was a reschedule by them since it rained on the originally scheduled day) they called me up and told me they do not service the type of unit I have. I then had to call them back to ask about a refund and that said I had to contact Angie's List myself for one.

The service went well. They did exactly what the deal stated. The technician did a nice and showed up to the appointment on time. Scheduling was not an issue.

They agreed to a contract over the phone, set up a date, showed up on time, with the proper equipment and the essential installers, finished in 6 hours, cleaned up all their installation mess, thanked us politely and left ahead of schedule. Our AC works wonderfully, is quiet, efficient, a cool environment instead of blown and uncomfortable air. We are thrilled with Richard's suggested equipment and service...

Hi. Our air conditioner had broken the day before the hottest day of the year. We called Richards on a Wednesday, but they did not have any appointments available until Friday. We have used them in the past and they have done a great job, but we needed the A/C fixed as soon as possible. We ended up using another company who came the day we called (Wednesday) and fixed the problem for us that day at for an incredibly reasonable price.

It took several weeks before I could get them out but otherwise they were on time, professional, and I'm hoping thorough. :) It's an old AC so we're just hoping to get as many years as possible out of it.

I've used Richards a couple times now, and each time setting up the appointment has been smooth. When I scheduled this latest appointment, they were very up front and let me know that the day I wanted was very booked, so they couldn't give me an exact time, but would call me the morning of the day of the appointment. They did a great job of keeping me informed about when the service technician was going to show up, and he showed up exactly when said. The technician went straight to work, quickly figured out the problem and let me know what the options were to fix it. He took care of it quickly and efficiently. I will continue to use Richards for my HVAC needs.
