It was good and they were great. They installed a new ignition switch. They got the job done in about 30 minutes. The scheduling was very prompt.

Greasrt experience, no fuss, no muss. There was little work required as it turned out. We had been having issues withh the air not being cooled and it was fixed in 30 minutes.

The technician was very professional and fixed our unit which had only a tripped breaker. We paid $59 for an inspection but then had to pay another $90 for the technician to "fix" the problem. The only thing he did to fix the unit was to turn the power off and back on which cost the $90 which was a bit excessive but otherwise we were happy with the service.

If there was an option for A+ here, that's what I'd give them. My ancient A/C unit died in early August (I knew it was coming, but was hoping to be able to hold off until Fall), and I talked to 5 total HVAC companies to get estimates. I wasn't sure how old the furnace was, so told each of them that I was open to replacing the furnace as well as the A/C if they thought it was needed. Most of the companies told me it wasn't necessary, but were also trying to sell me various things like ductwork sealing, a higher-end unit, and who knows what else. As a single woman trying to sort this stuff out - in the summer in D.C. where you sure as heck need a working A/C system - it was kind of stressful. The gentleman from Richards (sorry, I forgot his name) actually talked to me like a human being, answered all of my questions, asked sensible ones of his own, and got the estimate back to me quickly. I had been talking to my dad long-distance about the situation (he's my go-to advisor on all things home-related), and told him that night "I really liked this one guy the best - I hope his estimate is within range of the others." Well, it was the lowest price of all of them - they installed a replacement Carrier system at a great price. The guys who did the installation were very nice, used all the coverings you'd hope for to protect my floors/carpet, and one of the managers stopped by during the installation to see how it was going and to give me an estimate on when it would be finished. About 4.5 hours after they arrived, it was all done. I just had the county inspector come by for the final inspection and to close out the permit (which Richards had arranged for), and it all checked out great. I've already been singing the praises of this company to other people, and they will be my first call when I do need my furnace replaced down the road.

My A/C unit stopped working Sunday, so I decided to check Angie's List for a service provider and came across Richard's deal for a diagnostic. When purchasing they gave you the option for days you would like service, so I picked Tuesday-Thursday since it has been hot out. Richard's responded right away and scheduled me for Tuesday, with a 30 minute call ahead. The appointment was like clock work, I was able to leave work in the afternoon and meet the tech at my house. The tech immediately identified the problem, replaced a part and in less than 15 minutes I had cold air again. Richard's really exceeded my expectations! I will be using them in the future, since my heat pump and furnace are getting old. Thanks for great service.

Richard's installed a new/replacement system in our home, replacing the 19 year old original - a big job and investment. The job was promptly scheduled for two days after my call. They arrived right on schedule in the early morning and the job took the entire day. (8:30am to 5:00pm). The crew of 4 left the place clean and the price was the lowest I could find for the same equipment from two other highly rated vendors on Angie's List. What's not to like with that! I was 100% pleased with all aspects of this experience so it made the expense a bit easier to "swallow". Additionally, Luis, the Managing Technician was terrific. His demeanor, his explanations and attention to detail were outstanding and the rest of the team was attentive and appeared to be quite competent as well. Luis was great and after discussion with me, he actually added access space in the storage room by re-routing some pipes - without additional charge! I highly recommend that you get a quote from Richards before you pick your service company.

After calling another company and being told I would have a fee of $75 just to come out, I took a look at Angie's List and found Richard's. I called them and asked for a same day appointment because I had dripping water from the AC. The agreed to come out and they did. I received a call 30 minutes before arrival. Upon arrival, the AC was assessed. In about 30 minutes the dripping was fixed AND my AC was serviced and inspected. I used one of their buy it now deals, and it was a good package for us. The tune-up, cleaning, and diagnostic was $75. The dripping repair was $35. Yes, I'm quite a happy customer.

The provider came to my house within the alot time. He diagnosed of the problem and explain all the details to me. I asked him replaced the broken part and it was done within an hour. He was very professional and patient in explain everything that was going on with the AC. The AC is now working very good.

Our air conditioning unit stopped working--it would only blow lukewarm air. We looked up A/C repair companies on Angie's List, and chose this company based on their reviews. We were able to schedule a time fairly easily, though the receptionist explained they were slammed with calls due to the heat wave at the time. When the tech arrived, he inspected the unit, cleaned the filter and determined that a part needed to be replaced, which he had in the truck. Our air conditioning was back in good order in under an hour, and has been working flawlessly ever since.

The technician was very punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. He took the time to listen to what prompted my call for this service and to ensure that the unit was operating properly. I will definitely be calling Richards for seasonal service checks of my HVAC unit in the future.

Same day service with the Angie's List discount diagnosis coupon. This was probably the easiest job for the technician. After I explained the problem, he immediately went to the drain pipe and cleared the clog. Great customer service - helped me get home in time to meet the technician. Overall, great job, will use again for my heating or AC needs.

All I have are positive things to say about this experience. The sales quote was given to us by the owner, and him and his staff treated us like valued customers. Richard?s has prices that are 20-30 percent lower than competitors but the quality of work is much better.

A valve on our air conditioner was no longer working. Apparently this is a common problem due to our particular valve that Carrier uses on some models. The technician from Richards tried to get the replacement valve covered under warranty, but unfortunately the part was no longer covered. The expensive replacement part is why the repair cost as much as it did. After the valve was replaced, the new valve also broke after a day of use (another faulty valve from Carrier), so Richards ordered a better after-market valve and did not charge us to replace the part a second time, and there were no additional costs of any kind. It's been almost a month and the air conditioner is running better than ever. We are really happy with the service we received from Richards.

Called 5 providers, Richards had the best combination of prize and number of reviews on Angies. Luis was the lead installer. They were very professional, clean, and personable. I highly recommend this company.

We had used Richard's for repairs previously and they have always been responsive and punctual in addition to doing great repairwork on our HVAC. When our lower level A/C died, we solicited bids from three other vendors, all with great reputations as well, asking for bids to replace both the lower level A/C and the upper level heat pump and air handler. At the last minute, we decided to call Richard's since they had done good work for us in the past. Jim came out on a Saturday to give us an estimate, and not only was it lower than anyone else's, they had it installed within 1 week! The technician and installers arrived on time, took care inside and outside our house, and even made adjustments to the older a/c air handler to better accommodate our filter. I would recommend them without reservation: consistent, quality service at a fair price.

They were fine. I had no problems with them. They had to come back out to replace the motor so it took 2 days to complete the work.

Richard?s heating and Air conditioning showed up as promised and completed the work. The reason I will not use them again is that their pricing is way off market. The cost of the refrigerant was 3 times higher and it cost me the same on a discounted basis for them to check one system versus two systems compared to the Angie's competitor. The technician acknowledged the Company knows they are more expensive on technician work; but assured me they were very competitive on new installs. I will be replacing the system this fall; however, Richards Heating and Air-conditioning will not be bidding. Sometimes what appears to be a potential good value; really isn?t. First big disappointment for me using Angie's list.

They didn’t add Freon. They tried, but there was a problem. They sent out two different individuals for the job who seemed to have two different levels of knowledge. The first guy who came out couldn't figure it out, but the second guy was able to make it work better. The unit is 15 years old so I’m just glad they were able to improve the functioning of the unit. Replacing the unit will run $5,000 so $50 to get a summers worth of use is worth it. Overall, it went fine.

the service technician was very knowledgeable and made us feel much better about our ac system. After just moving into the home we wanted to make sure that proper ac maintenance was done on the unit.

They did the work. Scheduling the appointment was fine and they arrived on time for the appointment. They called me and followed up well on what was going on and what proper steps I need take.

It went great. Prompt and reliable. Also they sent someone who was actually an experienced HVAC guy and not an inexperienced guy who is faking it.

I had to schedule this service call one month in advance and the day before my service appointment I received a phone call notifying me that I would have to reschedule. I was very upset with this due to the fact that I had scheduled it so far in advance and that I had to miss a day of work. The company apologized and said that I wouldn't be bumped again. When the service technician came to my house he didn't do anything that I couldn't have accomplished on my own by reading a book. He opened my HVAC and checked the lines, made sure the electrical wires were intact, looked a the filter, and basically called it a good day. In my opinion this was a waste of money. Make sure you know what to expect before scheduling an appointment with this company.

Richard's put in the low bid on the work. I accepted their bid on Friday, and the work was started and finished on Monday. Price was exactly their estimate, in spite of some added effort, like moving the outdoor units. Richard's personnel were polite and efficient. There is nothing I could ask for that they didn't do. These guys are great.
