I cannot say enough great things about this company. They have been out three times this year - not their fault - for various HVAC issues. Each time was a last-minute issue of no heat or AC, and they always worked me in same day. Each time I purchased an Angies List deal for a diagnostic service call, and my total bills were minimal. One time the technician discovered that the circuit breaker had overloaded and switched off during a storm the night before. I should have checked that before calling! The most recent repair was to replace a fuse that had blown. The technician also detected a short in the wiring and replaced a wire. There is no upselling. They find the problem and fix it. They are extremely honest and responsive and explain exactly what they are doing. When you think of calling an HVAC repair service, you immediately anticipate thousands of dollars in repair bills. That has not been the case with Richards. They find the problem, explain it and fix it. No drama. I couldn't be happier and have recommended them to several friends.

Great experience from start to finish. I had a 17+ year old HVAC unit and was looking to replace it before it made the decision for me. To start, I contacted four highly rated companies from Angies List, looking to get a sense of options, different points of view and ideas as we had a couple additional challenges we were hoping to also achieve with the new HVAC system. Richard's, like the others, was very responsive. Richard came out to our house and walked through our existing system, options, ideas for how to best resolve other challenges and additional items that were important to us. I did the same with the other companies and cross checked outstanding questions/items across the group of providers to confirm consistency of answers and who showed the best knowledge. This also helped me broadly get a sense of responsiveness. What I can say is Richard (and Richards) was the creme or what was a very good crop here. What differentiated them was Richard's responsiveness, care to detail about every question I asked (actually testing and legitimately confirming, good or bad some things that I had Googled) and his knowledge . He was awesome! We then dialed in the equipment based on my needs and talked through many options as there are tons of add on now for HVAC systems. Richard was honest and direct, which helped me make informed cost/benefit trade offs of each. We talked about the install team, which is pretty much the most important piece of the decision, and I was confident in the size and skill of the team. Their price versus competitors was good, so we moved forward. Install day. I of course stuck around to ask questions and see how things progressed. The day started with the team lead and two gentlemen came to disassemble to old system in the morning as scheduled. As the day progressed, we had 5-6 more gentlemen show each generally with an area of specialization (including a duct specialist and their metal works truck to do onsite work) . I poppped in from time to time asking questions but trying not to be annoying. The team was great! Answering any questions I had and having a good time, all well being 90+ degrees outside. Skipping to the end. The install looks great. They listened to every single comment I had and took ownership of the install as if it was their own home. Couldn't be happier and would gladly recommend Richards to anyone looking to do a HVAC replacement. Just a great experience from beginning to end.

Brian and another technician came and replaced my A/C, gas furnace and heat pump. The A/C was off once in a while, they came in another two times to get it fixed. I am very satisfied with their service, price and the post service they provided. I referred them to all my friends and neighbors interested.

I was primarily interested in getting the HVAC system replaced. The water heater was working, but they said it would fail soon, so I let them replace it. Everything seemed fine until about two years later, when I noticed that water was dripping down the side. I checked the top and found that water was pooling up there. I called Richards to see what they would do about it. I was told that they would send someone right out, but there would be a $135 service charge. I called someone else who came and did a temporary fix for about $35. They recommended replacing some of the fittings, which I had them do about a month later, at a cost of about $125. I have owned homes since 1980. I never before had to have work done on a water heater with ten years of its installation.

Very easy appointment. The gentleman was on time, did the work quickly and our AC was back working within an hour.

Tech arrived on time and performed inspection as expected.

On Sunday, June 28th, I purchased two $49.00 diagnostic specials from Richards Heating and Air Conditioning through Angies List. By 10 AM on Monday, June 29th I received an email from Richards asking me to call them to schedule my appointment. I called and was given a morning appointment for the next day. On Tuesday, the Richards technician arrived promptly for my appointment. He proceeded directly to the outside unit and within 15 minutes had found the problem and begun the repair. I had thought we might be low on freon, but the problem was actually a part that had failed causing the fan on the unit to spin backward which caused it to blow warm air instead of cold. As soon as he replaced the part, the cold air started blowing in the house. Before he closed up the unit he checked the freon level in the unit and in our upstairs unit and both tested in the correct range. Upon completing the freon testing, he proceeded downstairs to check out our indoor units. In all, he spent about an hour working on both units. When he was finished he cleaned up. I was very pleased with his service. He was professional and patiently answered my many questions throughout. I will definitely call Richards again.

It was fine. They were professional. The price of the coupon is fine; have I not got a coupon it would have been high like $140.

I needed the service performed before they could get here so I just ate the fee.

We could not be more pleased with their professionalism, promptness, attitude and "Let's get it done" effort.. The salesman showed up with 1 sheet of paper, wrote my email address down and never send me the quote or ever contacted me again. He seems like he didn't want to give me a quote, nor was he interested in talking to me about the different systems. I wanted to discuss the seer ratings and the differences in the systems, but he was clearly not interested in discussing anything. I have spent 1K to have them come out and fix my AC unit last year, and they seem to be not interested in my business at all.

The gentleman showed up on time and was very professional. He performed the diagnosis and fixed the unit. We haven't had any problem since then.

The tech that came out was Vic. Very knowledgeable, and a very nice person. I knew what the problem was, but was not sure how to fix it. Vic made quick work of it. I was his last call for the day. I had purchased a diagnostic 'deal' so the labor was only a little more. Richards is an excellent company that I cannot recommend highly enough.

It went well. I was originally scheduled for next day service. Was told later on the day I called that they could get someone to my house the same day (which made me very happy!) Technician quickly diagnosed problem, explained what was going on and offered a solution. Did the work quickly and to our satisfaction.

The representative from Richards was friendly and informative. He explained how to adjust my Infinity thermostat for the summer months, since the manual is a pain to read. It was a very good value- $79 per unit on Angie's list. The representative has been with Richards for 12 years, which says a lot about the company and its staff. They installed our new furnace 2 yrs ago and provided a very competitive price.

I purchased an Angie's list deal being offered by Richards for an AC inspection, cleaning and tune up. After 2 days I was sent a message and told to call the office. Upon calling I was told that the first available appointment was 8 weeks out. If Richards is either so busy or so understaffed that they cannot perform service for two months then they should not be soliciting additional business.

I sent this company a request through the Angie's List Business Center to replace my HVAC system. A gentleman name Jim reached out to me on Friday May 23rd 2015 to schedule an appointment. He said that he could be there on Tuesday May 26th 2015 between 8 AM and 12 noon and would call when he was on his way. I proceeded to put the appointment in my electronic calendar as I was scheduling the appointment. I waited for him between 8 AM and 12 noon without a call. He called at 12:51 PM and left a message saying just to call him, no details about our appointment or what was happening. I called him back 20 minutes later and I got a busy signal. I then reached out to him again at 5:00 PM and got the office. They took down my information and they said they would try to track him down. He called me back a few minutes later and really had no explanations for we when I mentioned that he missed our appointment. I then asked him "Did we have an appointment scheduled today between AM and Noon and was he supposed to call me when he was on his way?" He said "I cannot remember exactly what I told you on Friday, but I am trying to make it happen for you now." He offered me a date for Wednesday May 27th and I told him I was moving on to another provider. I was really shocked at this level of service from such a highly rated service provider.

He preformed a diagnostic very quickly and gave me some options. I choose the cheapest option which was refilling freon. After that my air-conditioner worked fine again.

The overall visit went very well. I was given a window of 8a-5p and the technician came around 10a so I was very pleased to be able to get on with my day earlier than expected. My only complaint is that the entire visit took 45min or less and the labor rate was $135, on top of the trip fee. $135 for 45min of work equals $180/hr and this just seems a bit high. This is my own fault however as I should have asked their labor rate upfront.

We finally settled on hiring Richard's to replace our AC unit after having a few other HVAC repair companies come and assess our AC unit. We received a variety of estimates and Richard's was the best price we found for a total AC unit replacement. We had some less than reputable companies sent by our home warranty company determine that only parts needed replacement. After having reputable HVAC companies come, all said that we needed to replace our almost 20 year old AC system. All of the HVAC companies that wanted to replace our AC unit needed to rent a crane to access the unit that was on top of our 3 story condo roof. Richard's co-owner, John, go creative and saved us close to $1,000 dollars by offering to take the unit apart and reassemble it on the roof so that we would not need to rent a crane. He also found an older model brand new unit to save us even more money, after we told him that we needed the cheapest unit possible for what we were converting into a possible rental unit. The AC unit was $3,600. Upon replacement of the AC unit, the technicians found that rust had left the furnace metal cracked and literally flaking apart. Not wanting to risk gas leaks, we asked them to replace the furnace. They were able to replace the furnace the same day as the AC unit and we were offered a discount on the furnace. We replace the total unit for $5,800. We are very happy to have our HVAC unit replaced and for a price cheaper than any other company offered.
