Mr Miguel Nogales came to my house, made the suggestion of how the deck and the screen room should be built. Also, he was willing to take us to our neighbor to show their built deck and screen room, and our neighbor was happy about their work. Later Miguel sent me a 3-D drawings as the agreement between me and Angie. I told him the estimate was high and I will need to redo the roof for the whole house that has been only 12 years so I asked him to bring the cost down. He said that he would scale down the sizes to bring down the cost. The last email on May 5 to ask him to resize the deck but I have not heard from him or the company. This is a big investment of my part but it does not seem they have time for me so I may or may not continue with them. Andy

I was very pleased with the workmanship and overall quality of the deck. They worked very efficiently and completed the work within a week. They paid attention to detail and reattached my hose to the bib that ran under the deck so I can start using it right away. They made excellent suggestions such as an access door to the deck's crawl space, LED lighting, and double hand rails. I definitely would hire them again!

The designer was very helpful and professional...also had some good suggestions. Our project was given to Matt who was an outstanding carpenter. He was truly a perfectionist and was flexible with us on a couple of minor tweaks we asked for. The project turned out better than we had hoped for...really beautiful. The holidays that occurred in November and December slowed it down a bit, but we were not in a hurry. Only suggestion for improvement is for the company to have a bit more interaction in terms of what amounts are due and when. When the job was finished I didn't know the precise amount due, because we had to wait for the floor to be stained. This caused some confusion that was avoidable, had the management simply called or emailed as they were finishing. All in all, we're thrilled with the job. Can't say enough good things about Matt. Oh, the price was in the middle of other quotes we received from others.

Our relationship with Steadfast started with Miguel doing the estimate. He worked with us off and on for a few months while we finalized our design and decided exactly what we wanted in a porch. We started the project in February. Steadfast took care of all of the permitting, designs, and so on. As we got closer to the start date, we worked closely with Kenny to coordinate the actual construction of our project. Our construction team was led by Manuel. They worked tirelessly through an awful winter to keep our project on track. Jack (the GM) was very hands on helping us finalize finish elements of the project and also advising us on what to expect from the finished work. After the electrician (Mike) completed our porch electrical work (outlets, fan, new breaker), Santos did the finishing work to apply stain to our new porch. The porch and all of the work passed final inspection with no problems. We were very happy with the work and our experience with Steadfast. Our porch was done in time for us to enjoy some beautiful Spring weather and it is a great addition to our house.

This was my first major home project and I was really nervous- you hear so many horror stories! I got estimates from three A rated Angies List companies and two of them came in around the same price- one of them being Steadfast. In the end, I chose them because I had a high comfort level that Miguel understood the specifics of my job and that everything was included in the detailed estimate provided. The design process went smoothly and Miguel responded to all of my questions promptly. Franklin and his crew started the project as scheduled (even though 6" of snow was on the ground!) and had a majority of the project completed within a week. Throughout the project, communication was excellent and Franklin and his crew were great to deal with. The owner called to check on the status and responded to my punchlist concerns right away. The project really couldn't have gone any smoother and now I have a beautiful screened porch to enjoy just in time for spring! I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

Josh was very professional and thorough. He answered all of my questions and took his time. The drawings were about what I expected, but I was hoping to receive an illustration of a new idea, rather than just fixing up the current design. It's possible I wasn't clear enough with Josh, but I think I asked to see both. It's also possible that there really isn't much else we could do with the layout. Overall, I'm very pleased with what I got out of the visit, as I think it was a step up from what one would normally get with a free estimate.

Steadfast Construction spoke with me on the phone. I described how a previous homeowner had built a deck above a dryer vent so it was difficult to clean from the outside. They suggest that this could be fixed in a small project and did not need to bring in an entire team to overhaul our deck. They immediately connected me with a very professional contractor who was able to come out quickly and make the necessary modifications for a very reasonable fee. I was very impressed that Steadfast recommended an economical and expedient fix to my problem.

The entire staff from Kenny the owner, Miguel the salesperson, Able the builder and Manuel the paver repair person (and all those that assisted them) were just great to work with and very professional. The deck looks great and is constructed much better than the original. The weather was miserable during the construction...snow, cold and very muddy...and Able's crew often worked through trying conditions. That the job was completed as quickly as it was is remarkable. The cleanup (and with the mud and all it was a mess) was as remarkable as the construction. I highly recommend Steadfast to anyone wanting a new deck.

Two gentlemen came to my house. They took their time taking measurements etc. They left the house promising to deliver a detailed estimate. After calling twice, they wrote what they called a "ball park" estimate. I respomded to that emai next day asking for more details, and two weeks later I haven't received a response. I called yesterday, and left my number with the receptionist for the manager to call me back. Still no resposne. I think Steadfast is just too busy and does not need more business!

The patio and the deck were phenomenal. I like both of them a lot. They did a fantastic job and did it really quickly. I was really impressed with that. I ended up ordering a door through Home Depot and it took them 6 tries before they got it right. The gentleman who installed the door the first couple of times was pretty flexible. They completed the patio and deck in 2-3 days in March and the door weren’t done until early July. They were competitive in the price a little bit and it was comparable to other companies that had similar type ratings. Sometimes it was difficult to schedule their subcontractor to come back out and install the next round of doors. I would recommend them to somebody who is having their deck or patio built.

I requested an estimate for a back addition to our house. Steadfast promptly scheduled a visit for the first available Saturday morning. Miguel Nogales, their design Consultant, arrived on time and spent nearly two hours with us, listening intently to my ideas and surveying the area. He demonstrated expert knowledge of the Arlington County permitting process, providing advice on parameters and what options would tend to work best and be most cost-effective. He patiently answered our numerous questions, such as what heating system would work best in the new construction, and noted architectural details, such as the fact that our brick construction is the type that can be bolted into. All these insights gave me confidence that Miguel would consider all relevant factors to provide a realistic bid. The motive for our addition is a lap pool and Miguel drew on his own expertise with pools and spas to raise several important aspects we had not considered. Within a week, he provided us with computerized mock-ups of the addition, from all angles, that exactly captured my vision for the project. We ultimately went with an architect who suggested a more comprehensive plan for our entire property, but we will definitely include Steadfast in the bidding process and will call on them for future projects.

Steadfast was phenomenal. Very professional in all phases from initial visit, to prep, to construction, and finalization. Their work is top notch, prices are reasonable, and administrative staff extremely helpful and always available!

This was a long process due to the extensive requirements of the country zoning board. Salesman Josh was instrumental in getting us started on the right path for the process by making direct contacts at the zoning office and getting the appropriate paperwork. Steadfast then waited patiently 7 months as the special permit process evolved through the county's extensive and nit-picky requirements. (This was the hardest part, and a whole different story.) One of the zoning officials complimented the many technical drawings that Steadfast had to generate for the application process. These same drawings made it a breeze to receive HOA permissions. We were very appreciative of the time spent by the many employees of Steadfast as we asked many questions. They were readily available by email, office phone, cell phone, and face-to-face meetings. On-site work time was a breeze for us as the owners. Matt took care of all construction needs, keeping materials, tools, and debris to a bare minimum each day. He was always ready to explain what he was doing and offered knowledgeable feedback when we needed to make decisions. The additional workers were polite and considerate, and did their work on a high professional level. Co-owner Kenny came out several times to check on progress and keep us in the loop regarding payments. The finished screened-in porch and decks are works of art. Matt added several touches that went beyond "just building a porch." We have received compliments from our neighbors about the looks and quality. The porch does not look like an add-on; it looks like it is, and has always been, a part of the house. It was fun to hear Kenny, upon seeing the finished porch for the first time, honestly blurt out, "Wow!" We agree. We thank Steadfast for hanging in there with us as we maneuvered through the special permit process. That process was so devastating, and took up so much time, that we almost said, "Forget it." We are truly glad that we did not. Now, on to new furniture!

We began our deck and patio project by doing some preliminary research before contacting Steadfast. We carefully read the reviews and sent an email with our desires for approximate size, materials and timeline for completion along with a couple of photos of the back of our home. We were promptly contacted by Jack who scheduled a convenient date for us to have an estimate done. We met with Josh just a few days from the initial call. He gave us a courtesy call to let us know he was running about a half an hour late which we appreciated. When he arrived he was cordial and professional. He listened attentively and took the measurements and offered options for improving the design and appeal. The next day we received a 3D drawing that accurately depicted the rear of our home and the deck with the look we were going for. We were able to make a few modifications in real-time on the phone and looking at the drawings. Changes were updated and the drawings emailed. We were able to see what the deck would look like. We wanted a composite deck and Josh educated us on the different types. We choose to go with Fiberon in Ipe with a Rosewood boarder for an excellent contrast--another good suggestion by Josh. We added some LED post lights, aluminum balusters and put stone underneath the deck. We also added a flagstone patio because we didn't want to block our four large windows with the deck. We received several pictures showing the colors and styles along with the work order which contained a complete list of materials and costs for the basic and options we wanted. I was impressed and decided to choose Steadfast. The planned start and completion date were set. A plot survey was needed and was done quickly. We also received the survey in hardcopy and softcopy. We did have to call because a few days had passed from the day the work was to begin. Kenny assured me a crew would be out the next week and the completion date would likely still be met. When the crew began it was steady and fast--pun intended. They worked carefully and cleaned-up the area after each day. The deck install was lead by Grover. He consulted me on a few occasions where there was some flexibility and answered my questions. Each day significant progress was made. The timing was synchronized so that the patio was being done as the deck neared completion. The electricians did the necessary connection to the indoor switch for the post cap lights and the riser step lights. A small crack was accidentally made in the siding by the electricians but was satisfactorily fixed. After speaking to Kenny he wanted me to be fully satisfied and offered to seal the posts in the Spring when the wood dried. The lighting was delayed but Steadfast told us that might be the case in advance and it was noted on the work order. We still have one riser LED light on back order but are confident when it arrives Steadfast will put it in. Payments were made in logical stages per the work order and there were no surprises. We really liked the hidden fasteners and the quality was evident throughout. The work was completed on schedule as promised and the deck and patio were are aesthetically very appealing--bravo Steadfast! We can highly recommend Steadfast to anyone wanting a superbly constructed deck that's attractive, low maintenance and at a value that enhances their home.

No pressure sales with Josh. Although their estimate was not the lowest, they provided the most detailed proposal. Great craftsmanship by Marco and Marcelino. Good explanations from Jack and Kenny. Omar provided great office support with a can do attitude. Delivery only 4 days over initial estimate. Excellent response time to address two tiny issues. Looking forward to the staining in the spring to finish up the project. Will update comments at that time. Thanks Steadfast! One of the best contractor experiences during our 30 years of home ownership.

The end product turned out pretty good. However, getting there was extremely frustrating to say the least. We signed the contract in March 2013, but the bulk of the work wasn't completed until August 2013, I read all the positive reviews on here and thought a portico would be easy for them to complete on schedule. Maybe, we were just an anomaly, but this was a disaster from day 1. If I had to sum up everything that happened, it would boil down to communication -- very poor communication starting with the sales guy on through the workers and managers. The contract we signed did not have detailed dimensional drawings showing the overall design, materials, etc. All we received was a sketch which turned out to be problematic. To make a long story short, we had several issues with the placement of the columns (middle of stoop versus near the edge which the sketch showed), straight overhead railings vs curved railings (contract very clearly said curved railings), placement of one column up against a side railing, flat roof versus sloped roof (their fix was to cut 1/4" off the bottom of the columns), brown spots forming on the "low maintenance" trex railings, etc. They eventually fixed everything except the brown spots/smudges on the railings. After much back and forth between myself and the managers and also delivery of replacement railings, Jack P. called me on Veteran's day and said they would be out to try one more time to clean the railings. They did not show up and then stopped responding to my e-mails and phone calls. As it turns out, the brown spots have faded with time, but are still noticeable. So, bottom line, maybe my experience is out of the norm and maybe they have more experience doing decks, but my project consumed an inordinate amount of my time in 2013.

Steadfast did an excellent job for us. They worked with me to create a perfect design and a great price that met our needs within my our budget. Their sales rep was knowledgeable and provided me a design and estimated price in a very timely fashion. They communicated regularly and once they started the project, they finished it within the timeframe they had estimated, which was one week. They handled all the permit requirements. The carpenter that built the deck was very polite, pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful in answering any questions we had. They kept the work area very clean and organized. The owner of Steadfast Construction called me and visited the project several times and was very professional and courteous. They were very accommodating to us in every aspect of the project and went out of their way to be responsive to our questions and requirements. I have had bad experiences with contractors in the past, but my experience with Steadfast was extremely good. If you are thinking about building a deck, patio or doing general exterior improvements, I highly recommend that you consider Steadfast Construction located in Vienna, VA.

These guys are awesome! Jeff (the "Big Kahuna") came out with a binder full of pictures from several different completed projects so I could see different features and choose what I wanted in the porch. Omar did the design and Skip is just one incredible builder! The quality of the construction was the 1st thing that I noticed. The underlying joists for the deck are high-quality 2x12's with deep footers to allow for a larger 6x6 supporting posts. The double headers and posts are bolted together. This deck will probably be standing when the house falls down. Skip repaired a couple of holes in the house foundation before he put the framework in place. The decking is 2x6 tongue and groove with end caps; a really nice surface. 6x6 posts hold up the roof which is shingled. Little things that make this job nice are the rounded edges on the posts, collars around the post top and bottom, and the cross beams that are set a little bit higher so that the porch has an high-ceiling openness to it. The porch is really beautiful. This was a great job, start to finish, and Kenny was tremendous about keeping me informed regarding schedule, payments, and checking to see if I was pleased with the progress. I got a lot more quality than I expected. Thank you Steadfast!

This is the 3rd time we've used steadfast in 7 years - and once again we were ecstatic with the results. My wife and I (and our toddlers) are really looking forward to using the 3-season porch during the fall and possibly into the winter months. The workmanship is great, and the construction crew was just awesome. They have listened to every little bit of feedback we provided (no matter how nit-picky) and addressed all of the feedback that we provided along the way. There are some additional things we'd like to do with our porch (such as installing EZ-Breeze windows) and will call Steadfast again as soon as our budget opens up.

Steadfast did first-class work on the project from beginning to end. Miguel did the estimate and was punctual, professional and straightforward about the work that had to be done. He provided a written estimate within 24 hours, unlike some of the other contractors that were contracted. The start of work was delayed a week due to heavy rain, but the work crew came as soon as the weather cleared, starting with teardown on a Saturday. The guys on the crew were very polite, and kept things in good order as they worked. The finished deck and fence were solid and looked great. I was out of town on the day they finished and there was a small issue that had to be resolved because I had been gone, but I called Kenny at the office and he promised to take care of it the next day -- which he did. No hassles, no discussions, just a polite commitment to make me 100% pleased with the job. All the way through, everyone at Steadfast was first-rate and I would certainly go to them first for any future jobs.

We are very pleased with our new screened porch and deck. There was a small lack of communication about our start date, which is why I gave them a B for punctuality, but it really was not bad at all. Once we got started, everything went quickly and smoothly! Able, who was the lead on the project, was professional, courteous, and great to work with. He was quick to answer questions and worked through weekends to get the project done. The only work not done directly by Steadfast was the electrical work. For that, they brought in a subcontractor, who also was excellent. The project took about 3 weeks from start to finish, which was within the time predicted. We definitely would use Steadfast again and we have already recommended them to several people.

Poor management, poor communication, unprofessional, incomplete job - still waiting after 4 months for a job that was suppose to take 4 weeks. I initially contacted Steadfast in April 2013 about a limited time offer. One of their salesmen came to discuss what I wanted to have done and followed up with a drawing a few days later. I responded to their email but never got a response. A follow up call never got a response either. I finally called again and talked to someone else. Although I was leery of proceeding with them because of the lack of responsiveness I was pleased that the second salesperson had talked with me for over an hour to work out the details of exactly what I wanted for my deck. We finally signed an agreement a few weeks later. It had a clause to start no later than mid June. They actually started about 3 weeks later than that in early July. They said it would take 3-5 weeks. As of this date, it has been about 4.5 months and they aren't finished. The workers who came out were not informed as to what was to be done. This happened over and over again. There was a clear disconnect between the workers and the management team that I spoke with. For example, the painter came today to stain the deck. He was suppose to stain the pressure treated wood used for the structure of the deck, not the Ipe wood flooring. He didn't know that. Not only were the workers not aware of what they were suppose to do and the details, they showed up without any warning after repeated requests by me to at least give me an hour heads up when they were coming for security reasons.. My biggest concern now is the ipe wood flooring. I paid a premium for ipe wood. It is beautiful. However, many of the boards they used are marred. I reported this and they promised to replace 5 of the boards, a compromise that I could live with. The management and I agreed to this and they promised to be out within the week. It has now been 6-8 weeks and the boards have not been replaced. There are too many numerous issues to note. I now have a hole in my exterior brick wall into my living room for emergency lighting they needed to pass inspection. They wired it correctly a few days later but I am left with a hole in my house that wasn't needed. Also, they damaged my interior wood floors when installing the new French door to the deck. In general, some of their workers were good. Marco who built the deck was good. Management is the biggest problem - they don't communicate with their workers and they make lots of promises and some of the time they deliver, but every step is a fight. There are too many other builders on the market. I highly recommend you find someone else to work with.

Working with Steadfast was great from start to finish. Miguel came out to our home, made a number of valuable recommendations on how we should go about best constructing the new porch and deck, and what would look best and how we'd be able to get the most benefit. Once we signed the contract with Steadfast, they worked with us on providing the drawings and documentation for us to get formal approval on the project with our homeowners association. They took care of all of the permitting, etc... And made life about as easy as possible when going through the initial phases of any project. They started pretty much as scheduled and the main office stayed in touch with us throughout the process updating us on the activities and schedule of their crew. They finished the entire deck, screened porch, electricity, etc... in about 2 weeks. The crews they had out to do the build were great. Very professional and did a first rate job. I would use this company again for any project we had. Very happy with the cost, and extremely happy with the quality of the product they delivered. They easily exceeded my high expectations.
