Fairfax Auto Repair

I had a great deal done to my 1994 Nissan 300ZX. I will not go into how I acquired the vehicle or the sentimental value of it (but I told them). What I will tell you is that after looking on Angie's List, Fairfax Auto Repair was at the top of the list. So I couldn't go wrong right? After towing the vehicle to them I asked for them to diagnose the vehicle for any problems. I told them it had been sitting for a while and I was in the process of restoring the vehicle. I first picked up my ZX on Friday July 3rd. I'm pretty excited! While driving home the AC started and then stopped working. At highway speeds breaking would shake the entire vehicle. And now it is stalling. I promptly brought it back to them the following Monday. Ok, they addressed some of those issues the second time and more. They gave me a discount for some of the work they did which was cool. So, here is where it get troubling. As I stated I returned the vehicle back to them on July 6, 2014. I was out of town for 2 weeks, and expected to pick up the vehicle then. First, I had to call them to see what was going on in which they told me the car would be ready in two more days, not good customer service there. I went to pick up the vehicle two days later, paid the bill and walked out the head home. The car had the same old out of round tires on it. WTH! Talk about game changing. Ok, I was speechless! So of course they made time to put the tires on and bought me McDonald's breakfast (I was hungry). Now am wondering what other details were missed. I'll tell you! They never properly test drove the car. That is why they didn't check the other things. I went to get inspected for emissions and state and failed. Come to find out, I had no motor oil in the car and my catalytic converters and senors were bad. For the kind of money that was paid you would think they would check the oil. It is not about the money, its about peace of mind, which I do not have right now. If they can ignore those simple details, there is no telling what they may have missed from the work they were "suppose to have done". Yeah, not really sure what they did now! I have no confidence in that repair shop. I'll NEVER go there again!

First, the customer service was great. Sonia was friendly and provided a reasonable time and cost estimate for the work. She called after an hour to ask if I wanted to do a 4-wheel alignment. I did not feel pressured to do the additional work (unlike the service department at the dealer). Second, the total bill ($215) was considerably less than what a dealer would have charged. Third, you can work or relax at Peet's Coffee & Tea (across Pickett Road) while you wait an hour or two. I will definitely come here again!

My brakes were making an awful noise, so I called up to see if Fairfax Auto Repair had availability on a summer Friday afternoon. While they were busy, they listened attentively, made time and told me I could come in that afternoon to see what was wrong, saying that if it was urgent, they'd do their best to take care if it, should I want to proceed. During the appointment later that day, Fairfax Auto Repair determined the car brake pads needed to be replaced, and they offered to rush to get the pads that afternoon. It was wonderful; I ran errands, and once the pads arrived, they completed the service very quickly, that afternoon. I was so impressed with that service, and the folks who work there are extremely friendly and made me feel at ease. They also took time to ask what the initial problem was over the phone; having me describe the noise/feeling, and then asking various follow-up questions.

I had forgotten all about the coupon the second time I came in for an oil change, but they remembered!

It was good. They did what they said they were going to do and they did it on time. It's now about a year later and the same problem has reoccurred and I don't know what's happening. I'm going to call them back again. I don't know if it's their fault or if it's not their fault. They charged me what they said they would charge.

I first went to Fairfax Auto Repair because I needed oil and lube service, and I found a good Angie's List Deal. That was several years ago and I have kept going back every time I've needed oil and lube service, and other regular maintenance like new filters, tire rotations, brake checks, and fluid flushes/replacement. The place is very clean, the service is remarkably prompt and efficient, the staff is always professional and pleasant, and the prices are fair. And if you need to wait for a while, you can walk a block up the road to Trader Joe's and pick up a few groceries, or go get something a cup of coffee or something to eat nearby (Einstein's, Peet's, McDonalds). The only drawback for me is that Fairfax Auto Repair is a bit of a drive (20 minutes), so it might be a problem getting to them if there were a major problem with my car. Hopefully by going to them for regular maintenance and check-ups, that won't be a problem!

Overall, it went great. The technician checked the water pump before changing it and confirmed that there was no leak. They pressure tested it and cross referenced with the Toyota bulletins. So I had to pay for an hour of labor but this saved me $800. Never trusting the dealer again. Thanks Fairfax Auto Repair. Also, they were very responsive to all my calls and in following up.

I love Fairfax Auto Repair. They have worked on my car three times. First time they did my brakes. Second time replaced a fuel injector and cleaned the others. This time - bad wheel bearing. The costs of repairs is competitive. I have been able to get an appointment quickly. The only issue would be that twice they have had to keep the car overnight while they waited on parts. The service was worth the wait.

Most of the time I called I could not get an answer. When I did (once), I was unable to schedule an appointment due to a full schedule.

They’re just very knowledgeable and are good at communicating. It is a good place to go.

We were very happy with the service there. They seemed very knowledgeable but their price seemed pretty high. So we got another estimate elsewhere that was lower and we ended up going with the second bid on that. So we were happy with the work but their price was pretty high. They seemed to be pretty responsive. They were on time and quick. They explained everything very well, but we didn't have them do the work. So I assume that they would have implemented it since they seemed to know what they were talking about. I would probably use their competitor right now, because I think their competitor has as good a service and better prices.

I was greeted by a smiling and friendly receptionist who explained everything they were going to do and gave me a approximate waiting time. Although the reception area was small, it was adequate as only three of us waited. They had plenty of Automotive and sports magazines to thumb through while I waited. When they were complete, the receptionist went though the details of the inspection with me pointing out what might need to be done at the next oil change. The whole experience made me feel right at home and as if these guys have been my mechanic for years. It is a family run business and it truly has that feel.

The service worked out just fine. I made an appointment for 3 in the afternoon, and I got there at 3, and they took me in right away. He said the next time I go in, they will have another look at things, but I was very pleased with them.The cost of the big deal was $25, and I had two oil changes with that. I just did my first one, and so when I put on another 4000 miles, I get another. You could also upgrade the oil with the deal. I usually get upgraded oil for my car, and they asked me if I wanted to. That cost me $12 extra.

Cracked up my Subaru and had these folks repair the bumper. It was as good as new when we were done. The people who took my initial call, recorded information on repairs I needed, gave me the estimate, and who did the work all rocked. I couldn't have asked for much more than that. I was on my way to trade the car when I got into an accident with a cab...talk about bad timing. When the repairs were done, I was able to trade it for the same amount. That's a win in my book.

They promptly scheduled me and during their check with the oil change identified several things I needed (some of which I already knew about). Since I was going on a road trip in a few days, they helped me prioritize what should be done before I drove out of town, and what could wait. They also mentioned how long I could wait on the additional items, saying lets check on them when I come back for the next oil change I already paid for (Big Deal was for 2 oil changes). I really appreciated knowing how much I was going to spend in the future, and felt safe on my trip knowing the key items were taken care of. They were also great about fitting all the work in one day, given that i was waiting and that I was leaving town.

We have used them in the past. We like them a great deal. The front desk people are wonderful, especially Rebecca. She helps a lot and they accommodate to my schedule well. They are much more clearer about what goes into the price and what is going on with my car. My experience with them has super!

I sent an email to Fairfax Auto Repair and received a prompt response. My issue was/is that I was told by another auto shop (who shall remain nameless), that I needed shocks for my vehicle (my vehicle is a 2012 with only 42K miles). This "other" auto shop provided me with a quote for $1800+. I felt the quote was a bit high, so I decided to check out other repair shops. When I spoke to Pete at Fairfax Auto, they were "concerned" that my new'ish vehicle needed shocks so soon. Pete said I could bring my vehicle to their shop for an inspection. My first thought was that they want my business, and would probably try and find other issues. I was wrong!!! I drove into the shop at 4:20PM, Peter was worried that the technician would not have enough time to do a proper/complete check (they close at 5PM), but I was out of there by 4:50PM. Not only was I NOT charged for the inspection but I was informed that my vehicle does NOT require new shocks. Although, I am thrilled - the other shop will be hearing from me. Thank you Fairfax Auto Repair, for your professionalism, prompt responses to my emails, your honestly and fair business practices. I will be definitely using you shop for ALL our vehicles, as needed. If I could give you over a 100%, I would. A huge thank you!!!

The service was great and I had no issues. They pointed out what I needed. They provided excellent service both times I have used them.

I was pleased with their services. The service I had was actually a part of the deal from Angie's List--two oil changes for half the price.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I go to them pretty regularly and I am pretty happy with them. They have always been very responsive. They are an honest group of people. They have good mechanics so I go to them whenever I have a problem.

The vendor did the work in a quick and efficient manner. They provided an itemized list of additional repairs uncovered from their inspection. I did these repairs with them the week after the oil change.

It was excellent. They did not put any pressure on me and I will be going back. It was all done right and very good. They got the job done in about an hour.

Although I provided 3 dates for the service, as requested, I decided to call and make an appointment. The service was provided in a timely, professional way. I chose to upgrade to the synthetic oil and also rotated the tires, which was the reason for the additional expenses. I am so happy with the way that the service was completed that I made an appointment with David to schedule a full service for my Audi A4.
