BRICKMAN GROUP

It seems that the experience we had with Brickman was entirely dependent on WHO the assigned Project Manager was. During the time when Joe Pistininzi was our PM, services went well: contract maintenance was performed, issues were raised and resolved, communication by phone and email with our Grounds Chairperson went well and written site reports, required by our contract, were delivered. At some point, while complaining about service issues, we were told that we had a new PM, named John Lyon. Ultimately, then Brickman soon assigned Brandon Lanier to our contract. At first, we were not told of the change ... we had to discover that the PM had changed ... which became apparent when: issues were raised and we received no reply to phone calls or emails, site reports ceased being sent, Brickman staff were disposing of green refuse on the property (against contact requirements). We finally asked that he attend a board meeting, which he did on September 11th. The meeting went well ... he agreed to resolve all the issues, which we had documented in writing prior to the meeting and reviewed in writing during the meeting. In any case, we expended significant hours (all volunteer hours) working to get Brickman to resolve the remaining issues. Finally, we decided to take a difficult decision in February and work to find a replacement contractor prior to beginning the growing season in April 2015. We terminated the Brickman contract early, using the termination clause. While we attempted to get Brickman management involved to resolve the issues and keep the contract, they never did engage us ... only allowing us to communicate with our PM, who was, from our view, the source of the problems. For what it is worth, all this feedback is backed by published meeting minutes, which can be found at btmhoa.org. We gave up on Brickman and found a contractor that we hope will handle services and communication much better than Brickman.
