I have used Premium for over 10 years for my regular lawn maintenance and they do a great job. While I have a small yard it looks dramatically better than my neighbors. I contacted them to come out and clean up my landscape beds, trim the shrubs, mulch and install annuals. It looks great and the flowers have survived the summer heat and look beautiful! I would definitely recommend Premium. I went to work and when I came home the yard looked fantastic. I like that all I needed to do was meet with the account manager and once I approved the work they took care of the rest!

I thought they came up with a very good landscape plan and executed it very well. They showed up and did the job well. They just kept everything going together.

Very mixed. The hardscape paver walkway was fine but the landscaping and particularly the two hemlock trees which I paid a lot of money for was abysmal for the service his company performed. The plants and hemlock trees were guaranteed. For example the hemlocks began dying after a few months and we had Mark (the owner) come out to the house for an assessment. He said they had an insect disease which we treated for and still they died within about 9 months. We had other arborists (2) come to the house to look at the hemlocks and provide their assessment. Both said the trees were not infected with insects but it appeared the main problem were planting issues Premium had done, I won't go into details. Long story short is I relayed all this to Mark and bottom line he stonewalled us and never honored his guarantee or acted in a professional manner. Again we were pleased with the handicapping overall but EXTREMELY disappointed with his plants and particularly the 2 hemlock tree issue. I rarely write reviews but really feel people should be forewarned about this company. Ultimately we had to remove the dead trees he planted which again died well within the guarantee period. We watered, treated and did everything we could including calling him many times to prevent this. He was virtually unresponsive to emails and calls. We finally transplanted other trees there with another company who did an outstanding job, knew what they were doing and most of all responded promptly and treated the customer respectfully and professionally. I would never use this company again.

We apologize for any confusion you may have had in regards to the scheduling date. Upon reviewing our records, we found that on 7/13/16 the [Member Information Removed] called to make the deposit. We explained that we would still need the signed estimate. On 7/19/16, after receiving the signed estimate, the account manager emailed confirmation he received the approval and had submitted the work to be scheduled. On 7/26/16 the [Member Information Removed] called inquiring about when the work would be scheduled. The account manager emailed the [Member Information Removed] back the same day letting them know it was scheduled for 8/3/16. When the account manager was notified on 7/26/16 that the [Member Information Removed] was not satisfied with the 8/3/16 schedule date he was able to get the [Member Information Removed] moved up and the work completed on 8/1/16. We strive to accommodate all of our clients needs. Sincerely, Premium Lawn and Landscape

I had contacted Mark, has he had planted the original landscape around our outdoor fireplace and sitting wall, plus planted several trees in back and front of house as early as 2008. This year we needed Premium to do the annual mulch cleanup, trim beds and put down new mulch. However, we needed quick service due to our realtor's photographer taking pictures of our home for the sales brochure. Mark stepped up when I called, letting him know we needed quick service. Within days, even though he was very busy with all the spring time phone calls for landscape work, he had a crew come out and perform all work needed. We cannot thank Mark enough for his prompt service, as the photos came out perfectly. This curb appeal will help sell our home quickly. Thanks Mark.
Description of Work: Mark's crew came out and performed his yearly clear out of the old mulch, trim the edges of the mulch beds and put down new black mulch, plus clean up. Usually we have landscape trimmed, but not this year due to time and moving.

Premium would provide mowing services when they serviced the common areas. They used the larger mowers to mow my town house front and back yards. Where the mower could not fit they used weed whackers. While using the weed whackers they would not pay attention and would cut areas too short causing them to die during the hot summer months. There were on occasion times when they would not clean the trimmings before they left. I contacted the office manager, account manager, and owner on multiple occasions to get the issues addressed. I have never dealt with a company that cares less. I was told that I was getting a "discount" since they did the common areas and I should take what I got or cancel. Since I live in a town house and don't own a mower I was stuck with them for the rest of the year. I have not renewed with them this year and found another large landscaping company to do the work for the same amount with the appropriate equipment and to repair the dead spots due to the lack of proper care.
Description of Work: Premium mowed and provided their lawn care service for my townhouse. As they also did the common areas they provided the option for residents to pay and have them do our front and back yards.

We were told Premium Lawn and Landscape is our contracted snow removal service provider to plow our townhome community. NOT ONCE did they come through and plow during the storm. They communicated ONLY ONCE to say they "should be there today." That was YESTERDAY, Sunday (Jan. 24) morning. It is now almost 4:30PM MONDAY (Jan. /25) afternoon and still no sight of them. Everyone finally conceded we will have to do this ourselves. Premium Lawn and Landscape Service was a no-show. The neighbors are outside with shovels trying to clear the street themselves so we can get our cars out of our development to go to work tomorrow!!! PREMIUM used to mean something. What an astounding failure. Thank you to the one buy who showed up with the Bobcat. At least he tried to do something for us.

When my husband and I moved into our new home last year, the front and back yard were a huge mess of leaves and branches. It was a complete eye sore. Ryan and his team came and cleaned everything up in about 4 hours. I was blown away! Our neighbors commented that this was the first time they'd seen the yard look so good. Ryan comes every month now and I could not be happier. His crew is always friendly, do a good job, and if I ask them to do something specific (leaves on the roof) they jump right on it. I highly recommend this lawn service provider.

Premium provided a competitive quote in a timely manner. Generally we are happy with the results though we did have a few minor issues. One of the bushes that Premium transplanted died soon after being moved. Premium did replace it, though somewhat reluctantly. The azaleas were cut back so much that approximately 1/3 of them do not appear that they will survive. Also, the cement work is starting to crack in places. The cement edge between the new walkway and the driveway started cracking immediately and though Premium said they would come back to repair it, they never did. Eventually I just removed that portion completely as it looked worse when all the pieces had fallen apart. On a positive side, the new plantings Premium provided still look good and require little maintenance. The portion of the back yard that was replaced is holding up well and despite the cement problems with the walkway, we are still happy with the looks of the sidewalk and adjoining retaining wall.

This was a horrible experience. Although the project manager was advertised as experienced it ended up that he had little to know experience building retaining walls. The first time the walls were built they were leaning and not straight. They had to tear down and rebuild half the project. They purchased the wrong type of block to make the retaining walls and modified them to work however on areas were you could see both sides of the block walls the back sides look bad. All though everything seemed clear during 2 different walk around of the property and discussions of the project once it started it was clear the project manager was either forgetful or not paying attention. The first time the job was said to be completed they didn't actually build the walls tall enough and had to come back out to finish yet again. They attempted to nickel and dime a few items which they had previously agreed to. They eventually dropped those charges partly due to the hassle of the entire project. I would never use them again or recommend them. 1 year later some of the blocks at the bottom of the wall were apparently not well situated and are falling out of place even though they were supposedly all glued/cemented together.
Description of Work: They were contracted to build retaining walls around the front of my house to build back up eroded soil as the front of the house slopes away. Additional walls were to be build leading down to the driveway which would also provide areas to plan shrubs in the future. Areas were to be filled with dirt and mulch.

The project went terribly and is still not done. The contractor did not tell me many critical details, so I did not get what I asked for in many ways. This ordeal has been going on now for almost a year trying to get the project finished, and the project falls more apart every month. The project was supposed to be completed in November 2014, but there were problems that I wanted resolved, so I had a punch list for them to finish. While we were haggling over that, within a few months of supposed completion, many parts of the new wall and steps started coming loose, to the point that that dozens of blocks that had been attached with adhesive came right off. Both sets of steps (stoop and wall) became hazardous to walk on. 33 pieces now not attached. As each month goes by now, more parts of the wall fall apart. I have asked the contractor repeatedly to rebuild the entire wall properly, because it obviously wasn't done correctly (the adhesive failed and the blocks weren't laid properly). The contractor has refused, agreeing only to re-adhere whatever blocks have already come off. That would mean the rest of the blocks, with the same adhesive, are doomed to come loose, and I will be spending the next few years calling the company back again and again. Most recently, the actual wall started shifting and some large blocks are not attached at all--only 10 months after it was installed. However, now the contractor has refused to fix the wall, saying that I keep adding things to the list of things to be done. He is correct that I keep adding things, but that's because more parts keep failing that must be fixed! However, the contractor is required to fix it, because my contract clearly states that the craftsmanship is covered for 5 years. But he is refusing, leaving me with a falling apart wall and steps. That is what is currently happening but does not include a major problem that I had to have the contractors fix earlier this year. As part of the original plan, I had the contractor cover the steps on the backdoor concrete stoop with pavers and bullnose last year. By April, more than a dozen of the bullnose on the steps came off (again, the adhesive didn't hold). This was so hazardous that I told the contractor that the company would be liable if anyone got hurt. They removed the pavers and bullnose, and I now have a bare concrete stoop again (a little uglier than before because the workers chipped it), but at least I don't worry about stepping on the stoop now. Then there's the third problem, which is the patio. I already had to get the contractor to re-do part of it in May, because the substrate was not prepared properly, and a section near the house subsided within a few months, allowing water to pool by the foundation. There is more I could explain, but I think that's enough to show that the contractor did an unprofessional job. I will attach some photos. Keep in mind that all caps, bullnose, and blocks that are not attached in the photos had been attached by the contractor with adhesive last year, at which time the wall appeared complete. I moved the pieces aside to show which ones came loose.
Description of Work: In November-December 2014, the company tore down old brick patio and retaining wall at my residence and rebuilt them with EP Henry materials, along with covering my concrete stoop with the same materials to match. I paid a lot of money to have a professional job that would look nice and last for decades.

Premium did an outstanding job and we would definitely recommend them. Peter (designer and main contact) was professional, prompt and courteous. He did a great job with the estimates and communication. The workers were courteous, showed up on time, completed the work on time and cleaned up after. There was one adjustment that needed to be made to the wall cap but they did that quickly and without any issues or complaint. Their price allowed us to do additional work which we thought we would have to put off until next year. Highly recommend them.

I We had a general design diagram but kept asking for a visual of what the finished project would look like. I provided pictures from the EP Henry catalog I was provided to show them what we were expecting. There were multiple delays and months later we still did not have a finished patio. The steps that were built kept sinking and had to be redone numerous times. For some unknown reason the pavers used for the steps themselves would not stay glued down. Premium came out on a couple of occassions and attempted to glue them back down. The project was finally finished in the spring of 2014 After all the delays we agreed to pay half of the final payment due. At the end of the project we paid over $23K for a patio that looked nothing like we asked for. Over the last year the steps have started to sink again. Many of the pavers on the steps continue to be loose and are a safety hazard. The sealant used for the base of the patio has carroded. The patio looks like it is falling apart. I contacted Premium again in the Spring of 2015 to report continued issues with the steps and the sealant issues. Finally heard back from Mick Barham and he was scheduled to come out on 6/19/15. I waited for him for over hours and finally sent him a note that we would need to reschedule. I offered to provide photos of the issues. He sent me a note and said he was running late but would go by and take photos and speak to the owner. Never heard from him again so I asked what was happening. I received the following email from Mick on 7/14/15 "Spoke with Mark about this. I can schedule a crew to stop by but until the last payment is made in full the warranty does not apply. Any future work would not fall under service but would need a separate estimate. I would be happy to provide you with one if you would like." At this point I told Mick I thought it was time for me to speak to Mark directly and asked him to call me. I never received a call so I called Mark 8/4/15. He returned my call on 8/5/15 and said there was nothing he could do unless we paid the additional money. I was completely unhappy with this company from the beginning but hesitated to submit a negative review because of our friendship with a Premium employee. Mark and the crew at Premium were very much aware of how poorly this project was handled and have seen in person and by photos how bad the patio looks. At the time the project was completed they accepted the final amount we paid for services. Here is my response - I do not agree with company response. We initially began discussions with Mick Barham in the summer of 2013. We did sign an agreement for them to construct a new fireplace and patio on 9/30/13. We received a hand drawn sketch not a plan or design. I asked over and over again about a actual design so I could visualize what the final product would look like. I have many emails documenting this and also provided photos of what we wanted. I brought this up many times to Mick and other mutual friends because I was worried about what we would do if I did not like it. We were told that fall was their slow period and that it would take about 2 weeks. Many emails back and forth about a start date and me being frustrated by the delays. They finally started tearing out our old deck at the end of October. I don't dispute that there was some weather issues but my insistence to get the project finished was because there was a big mess in my backyard and a 6ft drop out my back porch door which was certainly a hazzard for my elderly father in law and children. I also have 2 dogs and it was a big inconvenience not to be able to let them out in the yard. There were days when a crew simply would not show up at all. Other days, we were told they had to leave to go to other jobs. A job that we were told was supposed to take 2 weeks took many months. I will search my documentation to see when they finally finished. it was not before the end of 2013. Payments were tied to milestones - one being "start of paver installation" which we paid on 12/12/13. As far as eight services - I can only assume he is referencing the structural defects we reported. We noticed issues with construction right away. The landing of the steps kept sinking. Premium is aware because they rebuilt the steps atleast 2 or 3 times. The pavers on the actual steps kept coming loose and are still a hazzard because they were not properly installed. When the railing was put in, I questioned because it did not seem to be connected to the steps properly. Some sort of white substance was used and it did not look professionally installed. As I feared, it looks awful and is cracked at the base and rusting. I also expressed my frustration with the look of the fireplace. It looked nothing like the pictures I had provided from the EP Henry catalog. They also rebuilt the fireplace more than once. Mick Barham agreed in emails that it did not look right and asked the owner to come look. At one point he offered a top cap and a couple of extra lights as an apology for all the trouble and mistakes. We appreciated the gesture but it was very clear to all that those small items did not make it right. Premium did ask to be paid many times. We did not feel we should pay another dime but finally agreed to pay half the amount they were asking for. payment was sent on 8/1/14 with note that said payment in full for services performed. We do not agree to pay final $2380 based on poor performance, damage to our lawn and all of the delays. Said if they did not agree we could work it out on Angie's list . We never heard another word about it. There have been no attempts to collect additional money since they cashed the 8/1 check. My husband and I have seen Mick Barham socially and not a word was said. Over the last year we brought up issues to Mick Barham regarding the steps, landing and the substance they used to seal the bottom pavers with no action taken. We finally got Mick to come out and he agreed with our concerns. It took almost a month for him to finally reply and say Mark would not honor the warranty. I asked to have Mark contact me. No response so I called him earlier this week. He did call me back and said they would not honor the warranty. I think it is obvious from other reviews on BBB, yelp and Angie's list that this is not the first time the company has failed to deliver a quality product. At this point I would like to have a quality contractor make repairs and changes to give us the patio we asked for and have the company pay for the repairs. I fear that my negative reviews will be held against us and do not feel comfortable having anyone from Premium near my home.

Response from Premium Lawn & Landscape
The Customer contracted us to install a new fireplace and patio in the fall of 2013. Mick, the designer, provided the customer with a design. The customers approved the design, selected the colors & style from the manufacturer catalog, and signed the contract for the new patio. The patio construction started about 2 weeks later. The weather did delay the project, as we did receive an early snow at the end of November and again in December. This halted to project. The customer was insistent that we continued work, and we explained that the weather was not suited for this type of construction. At the customer’s insistence, we continued the project and finished towards the end of December. Upon trying to collect the final payment, and the remaining balance from a short payment made earlier, the customer said things needed to be changed. From January through August 2014 we met with and completed at least eight (8) services for the customer to ensure that all of their concerns were handled. Unfortunately we were never paid the final balance for the project. We asked the customer to pay in installments, or at the least, something. Finally in August of 2014 the customer paid for a portion of the balance. The customer’s husband was socially friendly with our designer (Mick) outside of this project, so we did not pursue any collection efforts. We take great pride in our services, and even more in our community. We will immediately honor the warranty upon satisfaction of the open balance on the account. We have repeatedly tried to collect the past due balance with no success. The patio materials have a “Lifetime” warranty from the product manufacturer, and a five year warranty on all craftsmanship from our company.

Peter, from Premium Lawn & Landscape came out and walked our yard, taking notes on what we wanted done, and sent us an estimate a couple days later. After multiple rounds of me changing my mind, and him re-writing estimates, work began around the 6th of July. Work took about four-days in total and we have already received numerous compliments from our neighbors on the new retaining wall, and we love the way the front gardens look now that the older hedges have been removed. There was a lot more work we initially planned, but just couldn't complete due to cost. That being said, Premium was the most cost-effective quote we received and the results seem worth the investment. I marked them down for punctuality and responsiveness as there was no indication given when the work was to begin, other than to say they were several weeks out in scheduling. In fact we received no notice from the office until, one morning, the landscapers simply showed up and advised us that they would be there most of the week completing the project. While their estimation was accurate (they worked Monday - Thursday) we never fielded a single phone call from Premium that week and, to be honest, have not heard from them other than receiving the final invoice in the mail. No follow-up phone calls on our satisfaction, a survey of results, nothing... I will - at a minimum - have Premium come back and quote additional jobs that we didn't get to this summer. However, their customer service could use a shot in the arm to really live up to their 'premium' name.

We asked PLL to address poor lawn along both sides of sidewalk. PLL recommended sod but would not guarantee it. We decided to include 4"-6" of top soil to the installation to assure good soil quality for the sod and proceeded. PLL-installed sod looks bad and continues to worsen. Had several email and telephone exchanges with PLL with deteriorating effects: * PLL says it is not their problem, they provided good sod and good installation. PLL says it will look better eventually. But I have a crappy lawn to show for my $1300, so we are at odds. * PLL says issue is fungus effecting the entire lawn. But the problem is evident only with the new sod strip, not the rest of the lawn, so we are at odds. * PLL says our location on cul de sac is especially susceptible to fungus blowing down the street. Wish they had raised that point earlier and included sod fungal treatment in their original pricing. * PLL says this time of year, with afternoon thunderstorms, is a bad time to put in sod because conditions foster fungus. Wish they had raised that point when they recommended sod. I could have gone with ground cover, bushes, or simply waited until Fall. * PLL says they will treat the entire lawn for $100 extra. I asked PLL to treat just the sod strip for $10 and they said no, because it costs $75 to send a tech out. Further, PLL said they are insulted by my request. So we are odds. * In a final conversation with my wife, PLL was rude and unprofessional while continuing to be unsympathetic with our unhappiness at their results. PLL says that after refusing my $10 offer, they were about to offer to do the work for free, only I "hung up on them." Convenient they didn't offer that during our several previous interchanges, because that is what we wanted. PLL also told my wife that I misrepresented their statements (as captured above), essentially calling me a liar. Perhaps I have misunderstood the technical issues. But I know for certain that they truly do not guarantee their work, are not interested in customer satisfaction, and would rather generate excuses in hindsight than take responsibility for poor results.

We are very sorry that this customer felt they were miss lead. The work was performed and completed as described to the customer. The sod took root and was thriving right from the start. This spring was very wet. The constant afternoon storm set-up an environment ripe for Fungus, and most grass & lawn were stricken with a form of Fungus. Factors such as fungus (clearly exhibited in the pictures) need treatments that are outside of what can be predicted at installation. We explained to the customer the scenarios, but they were repeatedly not receptive to our explanations. The Customer wanted the Sod replaced, and we explained that that would not solve the fungus issue. The turf simply needed to be treated for the Fungus, and it would recover. We always strive to provide customers with the best solution, but there is not always an immediate remedy. Unfortunately, we were not able to provide an instant gratification solution.

The service performed regularly, it is certainly adequate, they don't always do 100%, and they are not always careful with the plants. I would tell people to go ahead and use them, they won't find a better service for the price. I have a dog, and they don't always do things like close the gate so that the dog doesn't get out, so I would tell them to pay more attention to detail.
Description of Work: I use Premium Lawn & Landscape for lawn care. They come weekly. They do mowing and clean up.

This is our third year as a customer and we've still continued having problems with them mowing all areas of our property. Part of the reason that we've hired the service is because we are limited on our free time, which means we also don't have the time to call weekly about areas missed. After the first several times of correcting, we just hope for the best. Additionally, we've asked the last two years in a row to switch our mowing from Monday to mid or late week so that the grass is shorter and our young children can play more easily in the yard. Both times, we've been told they'll get back to us and we hear nothing. Recently reached out to get an estimate on additional work, I left a msg with no return call, followed up and talked to Ritchie, sent a follow up email with the specifics from the call, followed up after two weeks with no response/estimate and yet another email to follow up one month post original discussion because I've still not received anything. Most frustrating part for me now is that we're in a contract for the remainder of the year and I'm stuck with poor service. This is probably a great service if you don't have anything unique like a detached space for maintenance or if you don't need anything that you can't check a box on their mail in forms like "aeration". Otherwise, you might be disappointed.
Description of Work: I have an annual contract for mowing and edging at $40/service. We've often added seeding, aeration, lime treatments, fall and spring clean ups, as well as, landscaping services at additional expenses.

Premium Lawn and Landscape was the only company of multiple contacted that was willing to do the job as I live in a townhouse and have less than 200 sq ft of grass in the front yard. They called when they had an earlier option for the estimate and called prior to Arrival. Matt showed up promptly at scheduled time and explained he would write up estimates for both new sod and working with the existing grass. I'm putting my place on the market soon so sod was the only option. Work was done approximately 2 weeks later and I was not required to be present. Crew left the place cleaned up and grass looks great.
Description of Work: Installed sod in front yard.

Landlord scheduled them to mow the lawn for the season and the scheduled date was Tuesday. They missed that, they missed today, and they cannot guarantee that they will even be out this week. Just a bunch of excuses.

Premium Lawn and Landscape did speak with (removed member name) on Wednesday evening in regards to the mowing at his rental property. When he called I informed him that there had been a scheduling error and he was not mowed on Tuesday as he should have been and I apologized. I let him know we were aware of the issue and we are doing everything we can to have the property cut this week. The property was mowed the following day at 8am.

It took 2 weeks. I was on vacation for one of those weeks. We arranged it that way. It turned out very nice. The area was good. They did a terrific job and I asked for some business cards to give to other people. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Landscaping I did last year. I used Premium. They did complete landscaping of the yard and some hardscaping. They put up a wall.
