I went to Mr Tire and the sales rep was very professional and explained all the details to me and gave me quote to replace all the tires for $900 but the rotation cost and all the other fees were not explained to me. The total cost turned out to be $1300 which was communicated to me after the job was done which i didn't appreciate. Over all i am very happy with my tires.

I went in for a standard oil change, tire rotation and balance. First they tried to upsell me on replacing my break pads and the rotors to the tune of somewhere around $600 dollars. My breaks were checked and the pads replaced less than 5,000 miles ago, so I know this doesn't need to be done.
I go out to my car and the air pressure sensor is on. I go back inside and tell them about the sensor and they tell me it's broken. They never mentioned a broken sensor when they were giving me a whole laundry list of things that need to be fixed. They don't actually try to fix the sensor, they just tell me it would be expensive to fix it and it probably won't hurt to leave it as is. My car model is known for the sensors breaking so I shrug it off and go about my day.
The air pressure sensor alert has been on for a few months now. Yesterday I had a new light come on "TPMS." So I pulled over to a gas station and check all of the tire pressures. The back two tires are at 27 psi when they should be at 32. I fill the tires up and what do you know, the air pressure sensor isn't on anymore! I don't think these guys even checked my tire pressure but had time to come up with hundreds of dollars in unnecessary work.
I won't go back here ever. Not even for an oil change since they have proven that even the most basic services are beyond them.

When my car did not start on a Saturday morning, I received a jump start from a neighbor and then took the car to Mr. Tire to determine if I needed a new battery. I decided to get an oil change once I dropped off the car. Several hours later, the provider call to tell me I needed over $1,000 of work done.  In addition to the new battery, I was told I needed new brake pads and rotars, an alignment and new tires.  I was told at first the new battery (Autocraft Gold) would be $165. Once I started questioning the work to be done, I decided to get only the battery. I was then told it was a total of almost $240 because in addition to the $165 there would be a charge for labor of $75.  I felt I was being misled as to the price of various items and did not like the fact that when I questioned the price the provider's representative told me that for a deal (only for me) they would take off $100.  The oil filter change and the battery test for $20 had already been done. I told them not to do any further work. I picked up the car and have since brought it to a different shop (Japanese Auto Care in Arlington).  It turns out I do not need a new battery. I did need new brake pads and rotars. The Japanese Auto Care price was $40 less than was I was quoted by Mr. Tire, because Mr. Tire adds on a "shop fee" of $40.  Also, I do have an alignment issue and will need new tires, but not until the Fall of 2014. So instead of paying over $1000 if I had this work done by Mr. Tire, I ended up paying just under $400 by going to a different shop.  I agree with the previous comments that Mr. Tire appears to try to sell more than is needed to its customers.

In general, they dont do hard sell if you know what you want. This goes to most of auto shops. The reception is nice and friendly. They completed the jobs on time (mostly, except for my battery replacement, took them 2 hours ... )
The price is competitive compare to my dealership. Best of all, they can fix your tire for free (if it's fixable). I changed my break pad here as well. Instead of asking me to replace disks, they can polish them for me. I'd say this place is fair.

I brought car to this mechanic b/c it's close to work.  They also have online coupons for preventative maintenance (oil change and alignment).   Service manager called me when car was on the rack and told me I needed brake fluid change and transmission fluid flush.  I do not bring the car here regularly so he did not know I had transmission fluid changed at dealership (warranty issue on trans repair).  I don't "KNOW" if the dealership changed the fluid, but I trust them more than Mr. Tire.  I asked him why he recommended it.  There were no complaints from me about the transmission.  He said the mileage indicated it.  I believe the coupons are method to get you in the store and them to upsell on items you don't need.  BE CAREFUL.

I purchased tires here a few years ago and used their free rotation service two or three times. On this last occasion, I was promised that the vehicle would be ready in about 45 minutes, told that they needed another 30 minutes when I checked in at the 45 minute mark, and ended up waiting a total of about 2 hours (vs. the original 45 minutes).
Life happens, but I was annoyed at the multiple delays. When I picked up the car and asked about the delays, the manager told me that they had received, unexpectedly, a tire shipment that had to be dealt with during the service period. Again, with my mind focussed on the multiple delays, I suggested that handling tire shipments and notifying customers of delays ought to be a routine part of their business, and got yelled at, rather fiercely. Unpleasant.
The service itself was fine, but punctuality and professionalism were pretty low that day.

I recently took my car to Mr. Tire in Arlington for a quick oil change and alignment (my steering wheel was shaking).  The oil change went fine as usual, but was told the alignment could not be done because the strut mounts were worn out. It would cost $500 to fix them.  Despite being a woman, I know a fair amount about cars, and immediately knew there was something off about this.  I took my car to my regular and trusted mechanic and I did not need the alignment nor the strut mounts changed (I use Mr. Tire for oil changes due to convenience).  Would never step a foot there again.

They did a quick, good job. The price was reasonable. They are very trustworthy. I have brought in something for them to check and many times, they had said, you don't need to have that taken care of.

I made an appointment to bring my SUV in to have its winter tires switched to summer times. The service to make my appointment was slow. When I picked the car up it vibrated when I drove it and I took it to the dealer , who showed me that at least one tire and wheel was mismounted.  The car dealership repaired the problem and charged me to fix the work that Mr. tire had performed improperly.

I used them before and I've been using them about 10 years.  They seem to have fair pricing and they're close by.

I spent $1050 on those tires. They were pleasant and nice. They were responsive and took a look at my car and I was able to do everything on the same day. I thought that the price was a little high and thought that I could get a better price if I looked around.

These guys have done me great service now several times, the latest being another great example. Several months ago I took my car in because I thought that I had torn up something in my suspension. Come to find out that another shop had done some poor quality work and left out bolts and nuts causing my breaks cylinders to bounce around,Not only did they fix it so that it could be taken back to the other shop, they did it for free and then reviewed the repair work after it was done at the original shop, discovered still additional errors, and never charges me a dime. I was concerned after they told my wife this time that my rotors couldn't be turned and had to be replaced everytime, sounded suspect, but went ahead with the repair. They were right, I told the replaces parts to a very knowledgable parts guy and he confirmed that they did the right thing. Guess that I learned that I dont know as much as I thought I did about my car. I highly recommend these guys. The price was half the dealership in 1/5 the time. Leave them the car, go to work and it will be done at the end of the day.

I took my car there Aug 20, 2007 and had this all done. I just went to them again today, a year later, and they said I needed to have all this work again! They are expensive and now I am doubting that I am even getting the right service or paying for the right work. I felt very uneasy and I will not be going back to them for anything, not even gas.

I highly recommend Mr. Tire and especially Derrick. He helped me to pick out appropriate and more affordable tires for my Jeep. Other places had suggested I purchase ATV type tires but Derrick explained that they were going to be much more expensive, louder and not appropriate for my daily commute. He was always pleasant and polite (he never acted like I was a "dumb woman" for not knowing more about my car). Derrick was great in calling me each step of the way for an update. He called me just after I left to let me know that he noticed my car needed to be inspected and asked if I wanted them to add that in. Later, he called to let me know a bulb was out (that had to be fixed to pass inspection) and gave me a new estimate. He also recommended a few additional services but never pushed them on me. When I picked up my car he explained that the tires come with free lifetime rotations and reminded me when I needed to bring it back in for that to be done. I really appreciate Derrick's professional and pleasant demeanor and will go back to Mr. Tire for any of my tire needs. It is rare to find a service/sales professional in the car care business who is this easy to work with and this polite - especially to a woman who admits she knows very little about cars.

I was very happy with the work they did on my tire. I had bought the tires from them so the service they gave me this time was for free because they were still covered by warranty. I have learned that there are two ways to fix a tire and when to use which of the two. After they took a close look at the tire and saw what the problem was, they fixed it by combining both the plug and the patch on the tire, which was the right way to do this repair. The way they fixed my tire let me know that they were indeed very knowledgeable of the job that they were doing and that they knew exactly how they were supposed to fix it.

The quality of workmanship is good, but they are terrible at scheduling. I had a noon appointment and they did not even start my repair till 2:30PM. However, they are well priced. You are best served if you drop off in the morning and pick-up in the evening. They are very close to metro.

My overall experience was great! The attendant had advised me what time of day they are the least busy. I was able to walk to Clarendon, and by the time I finished my shopping at Whole Foods, the car was ready at exactly the time promised. They also send reminders in the mail, when it's time to do the service again. So that is very practical for people who are busy and don't have time to keep track of service schedules.
