We were strongly considering having several interior rooms, ceilings, doors and trim, and windows painted. I had recently contracted with a company to pull down wallpaper, which went up at least (20) feet, and was possibly going to do the painting myself. We decided to get a few estimates. I had several companies come in and give me estimates on this project...companies that were highly recommended by Angie's List. In regards to Henry, he was recommended by a friend, whose opinion I consider very highly. Once we received all the quotes, Henry came in with a very competitive cost, but also offered to and quot;fixand quot; many other things we needed done in the house. For example, I had recessed lighting scheduled to be put in (removing present lights), and moved a chandelier to another location...which left holes in my ceiling. Henry offered to fix those, since he also used to be in the drywall business. With all that we had seen, and the pricing we received, we gave Henry the project. Henry started in early October, and began by fixing the holes in the kitchen ceiling, and the vaulted ceiling. In addition, there were a few water marks and cracks that were on my den ceiling, and he fixed those as well...drywall and mud. He also noticed a spot in the bathroom that needed this done as well. When the painting started on the kitchen walls, he discovered that their was a lot of and quot;glueand quot; remnants left on the wall - left by the (18) year old wallpaper - so he needed to sand quite a few areas prior to painting...which he did not charge me for. Henry painted the kitchen walls, ceiling, chair rail, baseboard, window trim, and brackets under my silestone counter. He then painted the den ceiling, baseboard, chair rails, and ceiling trim...and small bathroom. He then continued the wall color up the stair walls, and the entire upstairs hallway. In addition, he painted the stairs trim as well. Once in the bedrooms, he painted the master bedroom ceiling, fixed a crack in the wall (from the earthquake), touched up all the walls, and painted all the windows upstairs. He also fixed the sheet rock in the upstairs family room, painted the ceiling, and repainted the (2) closet doors. He then sanded and painted my front deck railings, and fixed and painted the areas between my front steps. He also worked on a Saturday, and offered to take our dog out for a few walks during the day, since we were going to be out of town (we normally pay a neighbor). With all that he did, we were extremely happy with his work, but it didn't stop there. He also noticed that one of our outside doors was and quot;stickingand quot; when closing, which we have always had an issue with. He took the door down, repositioned the brackets, screwed in the door jam on the opposite side, and put it back up. NO MORE STICKING! He also gave me some thicker weather stripping for the front door, and showed me a trick of how to install. This will help with minimizing the air loss I have each winter. In addition, he caulked several locations in the kitchen near my backsplash, and painted it to blend in. After he completed this project...which took a full (8) days to complete...he came back with some touch ups. He said he'd be happy to come back again if we found any other areas that needed and quot;touch upsand quot; as well. He also gave me some suggestions on how to complete and quot;smaller projectsand quot; , whuich are on my own and quot;to doand quot; list. As he was leaving, I gave him some extra money, since he really went well beyond what we had expected...and really didn't charge us any additional cost. For a home painting project, I would highly recommend Henry. His knowledge, helpfulness, and work ethic, are beyond reproach.
