Description of Work: Removed and installed 7 windows in an old part of DC row house. I was concerned initially because they came to the wrong address first (mine instead of tenants) then still confirmed the wrong address for the next appointment. BUT I still have then a high rating because once they did all the measuring everything was smooth. And the Windows looK GREAT and the install was also fast!

Description of Work: I think Window Universe was the 3rd or 4th vendor I met with for replacing my windows. They were by far the best priced and most straight forward vendor I met. The price per window and option was clear and there was no ambiguity in what I was getting. They sell Revere windows but they don't provide much in terms of options for the windows which is likely how they manage to keep the cost down. I met with the salesman, he was good and answered all of my questions. I went with them immediately since everyone I met before I knew I wasn't going to go with for one reason or another (mainly for bang for buck). They also offered a finance option which is nice and I took it since it's a lot of money to part with at once. They estimated about 4-6 weeks from the order date to when they would be installed and the estimate was correct. However, some of the windows came damaged and they had to be ordered again. A few weeks later, the replacement windows were installed but then one of the sashes wouldn't open, so another technician had to be scheduled. To be honest, some of the delays don't bother me because things happen but they were good enough to stay on top of it and get it resolved, so I was happy overall.

Description of Work: I purchased Windows from Window Universe back in June. The first time I had the Windows measured (after I already paid for them) was in June. Then when I realized they hadn't actually measured they just came to my house to try to "sell me" on Windows I already bought, I had to schedule another appointment to have the Windows measured again came at the beginning of October!!!!! They then charged me again for the Windows even though I paid for them on Angie's list, and took a week to refund the money. They promised me they would be installed 4-6 weeks later.Now, it's two months later (December), they've had the Windows in stock since mid-Novemeber and still no Windows?!!!! And just postponed installation another week. This company is unprofessional and since I still don't have Windows, possibly a scam. Do not ever hire these people. I'm hesitant to use Angie's list after this experience.

Description of Work: Replaced a total of 8 large horizontal sliders so far (2 light and 3 light) over two separate jobs in our 1960 split level mcm home. First time the installers were a little sloppy and marred the window sills prying out the old windows and left debris in the yard. I complained about it and the installers the second time around (different guys) were much better at performing a clean removal and installation of the other four windows.

Description of Work: Still not completed after over a month of initial installation of 20 windows, final payment not made. Missing one window that has now been on order for a while. I have had to initiate contact to find out status, not weekly like they say. One window that did arrive did not fit the window, so that window plus three others that were installed have not been completed leaving exposed wood on the outside of the three windows. The trim for capping is on site but I guess they are waiting for the one window.

Description of Work: Ordered a lot of windows, installed. They use subs to perform install. The sub didn't show the first of 2 scheduled install days, but they called me early in the morning, and he did all the install on day 2, so no big deal. The install work looks good, but the windows, which some installers had described as "flimsy" online, are, in fact, a bit flimsy feeling. So, B's on quality and punctuality. Also, they had to deal with odd bank requests and a settlement company handling refi proceeds, which they did without complaint. Overall, a satisfied customer.

Description of Work: The representative was almost an hour late. He was very thorough in answering my questions. His product was comparable in price to other window companies. I found him to be rather unprofessional, though. He was constantly checking his phone. He would be answering one of my questions and stop in mid-sentence because whatever he was reading on his phone had distracted him. This happened numerous times. After his presentation he was aggressive in trying to get me to sign a contract. It was if he turned into a snake oil salesman.
