I called Krafft because the company I have had a service contract with for years has been unresponsive. I have had the same problem for the last 3 years. If temp is about 38 or less, heat wouldn't come on if thermostat temp was less than 70 and wouldn't come on if temp in house was more than 2 degrees less than what thermostat was set on. I've had 4 space heaters on to keep temp up so heat would come on. Krafft made an appointment for me for the day after I called, and since the problem was only happening during certain times of the day, made it within my requested time frame. I couldn't possibly have asked for more. Brandon came out on time, and reported back that my model of gas furnace has a problem with an error message getting sent out that requires that the furnace switch be turned on and off. I've been freezing for years and the company I had been using had not bothered to tell me this, and also could not be bothered to come out when the furnace was having the problem. Every year they have come out, told me everything was fine, and said have us come out when the furnace is having the problem. So every year they can't seem to come out when the furnace is having the problem even though I have a service contract with them. My AC/Heating company told me maybe they could come in 5 days, but probably not during the time of day that the furnace had the problem. As a result, I will be using Krafft from now on based on the positive experience I had with them. Needless to say I was very happy with the service I received from Krafft. Brandon was very nice, informative, and helpful. He even replaced the filters for the IQ Air air filtration system I have attached to the ductwork. All was done for the regular service fee. I had been trying to get my old AC/Heating company to change those filters for the last year and they wouldn't. Brandon even discussed my plans for adding on to my house, and gave me some helpful information on how to heat and cool the addition. I can't say how much I appreciate Krafft's responsiveness, professionalism, helpfulness, and kindness.

The central A/C and gas furnace (in the attic) needed to be replaced. The A/C was more than 20 years old and the gas furnace was estimated to be 45 years old. Krafft Service has been performing the annual maintenance on these units for the past 9 years. They have always been prompt about servicing and repairs when needed. I have been completely satisfied with Krafft over the years. When I called about replacing the units Krafft provided an estimate in less than a week. I contacted 3 other A-rated companies on Angie's list for comparison but the estimate from Krafft was by far the most acceptable. I called Krafft on a Thursday to request an installation date and to my surprise was scheduled for the following Tuesday. The installers arrived at exactly 7:30 am and completed the job in about 12 hours. This was not an easy task. The old furnace in the attic needed to be disassembled to get it down the pull down ladder. When the two installers realized that they would not be able to complete the job in one day they called the Krafft office and three additional staff were immediately sent so the job could be completed as promised. All 5 installers were very professional, careful, polite, and competent. The cleanup and haul away were excellent. I will recommend Krafft to anyone who may seek my opinion for replacement and/or servicing of heating and cooling equipment. The final charge was exactly as provided in the estimate. This company definitely deserves the highest rating.

Krafft has been servicing my home since 2004 on an annual contract. This has involved Spring and Fall checkups and same day or next day service for any problems with my two central units (upstairs and downstairs). Scheduled service has always been at the scheduled time (usually a two hour window) and competently completed. Service persons are professional, polite and respond well to my questions. There has never been an extra charge for parts or labor to restore the systems to working order. That is, until this year when recharging of my units with an outdated refrigerant requires an additional payment. I recognize that this is a common practice due to environmental damage done by the refrigerant. The units are old and need replacement so that is the action I am planning rather than recharging and harming the environment. Krafft has been very good about explaining this issue and has been forewarning me that it would occur. I am very pleased with the service I have received and will continue to use Krafft for my annual services.

The company scheduled my HVAC service call for five days later. The tech showed up within the scheduled time frame and I received a call to let me know he was on his way. He inspected the system inside and out. He let me know that there was a leak so the coolant was low. He suggested that I could recharge the coolant as a temporary fix, but the system would need to be replaced sooner or later. He was very clear that the recharge was only a temporary solution and he couldn't guarantee how long it would last. He explained what replacement would entail and provided a quote. I decided to go the temporary recharge route. It is working so far. I will definitely consider Krafft when I finally replace the system.

The owner, Jay Krafft, is incredibly knowledgable. He always came out when I called and did a great job.

My sister have been using them for years as well. What I like about them is their workmen are very knowledgeable. They deal with different kinds of heating and air conditioning systems. They give you advice as to whether or not the one you have is the best one. They are very good about regular maintenance. They come out twice a year to clean up filters, and clean up the system. They are punctual, and their service is very personalized. Their pricing is not too much because I have a contract with them.

Their service is great. However, when I compared their estimate for replacing my HVAC and hot water tank, their price was about $800 higher than another vendor. I subsequently went with the other vendor.

We wanted to move some ducts for a kitchen remodel. A prior contractor was unable to suggest a workable plan. We asked our general contractor for another HVAC contact and he recommended Krafft Services. Jay Krafft quickly came up with a solid engineering solution to the problem. Without any prompting from Jay we decided to replace the heat pump too since we figured it was about time. Jay gave us a reasonable quote for both jobs. I'd like to single out Jay for excellence in service and performance. I've worked with at least 10 different HVAC companies over the years. I've never met anyone like Mr. Krafft. He takes the time to explain things to you. He communicates effectively. His expertise quickly becomes apparent. I peppered him with questions several times via long email threads and he always took the time to respond thoroughly and clearly to each and every question. Jay is what we all wish for in a service and engineering professional. He and his company have defined an excellent service experience for me.

They rehabbed it in the off season. Everything worked out well. They did a good job.

Jay Krafft designed my high-efficiency HVAC system completely when my system died 6 years ago. He has great engineering design and home service expertise in the Washington DC area. As a family-owned business, Jay took over his Dad's business that he started in the 1940s. My HVAC and water heater were replaced together for about $8,000 in 2006. Jay worked with me to replace the compressor 2 years later so that I could save money. When it did fail in the summer, he sent his staff out immediately and replaced it so that we had AC. Later, Jay installed gas logs in my chimney for minimal labor cost compared to the cost of the logs, which I purchased separately. Now, I wish that I had purchased them from Jay, because for the investment, his product was much better! Jay and his team of skilled professionals service my 2 HVAC systems each year in the fall and spring for about $220 each. Every Krafft HVAC professional is really smart, courteous, and tells me exactly what they are doing when servicing is performed, so I can understand and care for my 2 HVAC systems. I am an engineer and really appreciate the time they spend to educate me about my system investments. I am beginning a remodel project on my old house now in 2013, and Jay is already on board as part of the design team to help augment air flow to the new footprint of the house. What a great family company with engineering design expertise, offering excellent system maintenance, and courteous service staff that are well trained and skilled. What a pleasure it is to see them year after year, and know that dependable service is just a call away! I cannot say enough good about Krafft Service and their dedication to excellent design and service!

Was warned of problems that did not exist to try to sell me a new heat pump.

Awesome. Usually service contracts have fine print that make them less than useful, but this contract was definitely worth it. The servicemen were always helpful, on time, and knowledgeable.

Our A/C unit stopped cooling the house properly. We had cleaned all the filters and still the air coming out of the vents was warm. I called several service companies in the area but only Krafft responded to my inquiries in a reasonable amount of time. I scheduled an appointment, they checked the system, including the freon levels. The technician was courteous and helpful.

They work no our heating and A/C and they are great. They are on time and efficient with their work. We have been using them for a long time and will continue to do so.

When my air conditioning broke in early July I called Krafft Service (as soon as phone service was restored) to repair it. They sent a service person out the day I called but unfortunately because of poor phone service I missed their first visit. They came out again the very next day and replaced the capacitor on my heat pump. At that time I signed a service contract. On August 9 they came to perform a maintenance service and the representative very carefully checked both the indoor and outdoor unit. I felt he was very thorough. Throughout all of the times that they came to my house, the representatives were professional and friendly. Many thanks to all of them.

They were on time, professional, and trustworthy. We have used them multiple times and they have been very forthcoming.

This company gave me estimated installation date of 6/22 and its 7/6 and it is still not done. This company has no regard for its customer and will blow you off like its nothing!!!! After blowing me off about 4-5 times after explaining the health concern having no ac in 100 degree weather, they have the nerve to tell me to take my business elsewhere! This is the worst company I have ever delt with and will never give them a penny/reference again. Krafft services you just lost a lot of business and future references. RULE NUMBER ONE OF BUSINESS THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT

Superb service - one could not ask for more.In response to my email inquiry, Mr. Jay Krafft sent me a very detailed explanation of the 3 basic types of furnaces I could install and the pros/cons of each + quotes for each. He then came over, looked at my basement and adjusted the options given the limitations presented by the layout of my old townhouse + gave me an updated estimate for the three options.The crew showed up on time, was very professional, and did a very good job too, as far as the furnace's performance to date is concerned. If I had to describe perfect customer service, I'd be describing Krafft based on this very positive experience. Wish every contractor was half as good as Krafft.

I think that it would be fair to say that the technician was knowledgeable. He was articulate. He kept me informed with what he was doing. I appreciated that. He did have some difficulty is the restricted area because of where it was located. He inspected the interior and outside unit of the pump. He provided additional freon. It was expensive. I wish they would have told me ahead of time that their could be additional costs on top of the inspections cost. The price was three times what I expected it would be. I don't think I would use them again.

We have a maintenance contract on our heating system. They come twice a year to do the fall start up for the heating and the spring start up for the air conditioning system. We used to use someone else. We have had the same technician come out the past 3 years, that's what me and my wife like, they do really, really good work, he knows our systems, and we don't have to spend time with someone else telling them about the system. I give them high ratings and will continue to use them in the future.

We have an HVAC maintenance contract with them. They are very good about maintaining that and checking to see if we have any other problems. They had fixed one problem under the contract. I think they have someone in the office who schedules and takes information. They seem to be very reliable and ethical.

Everything went well and I have not had any problems with the system since he came. After he completed the service for which he contracted, he remarked that my unit was off the base. Initially he said I needed a new base to get it straightened out. He, however, worked with the system until it was upright (even going to his truck to get supplies). The company sent me a thank you card a few days after the service was completed. This was such a nice touch.

Outstanding customer service! Professional, friendly and knowledgable. Although it took a few days to get an appointment (first cold weather of the season), it was well worth the wait. He arrived on time and was very familiar with this particular system of heat pump. He was very thorough in evaluating both the inside and outside unit. He explained everything to me and was extremely patient with all (there were lots) of my questions. He provided estimates for potential future maintenance, service and parts.

We cannot recommend Krafft heating and a/c highly enough! We had recently moved into a 101 year old home with no central air conditioning. Because my wife was pregnant and due in August, we wanted to explore having a/c installed in the home in large part in order to help her get through the sweltering Washington summer. Ours is quite a complicated home with multiple additions, attics and roof lines, and although we invited six or seven highly-rated HVAC companies to give us estimates, none of them was able to offer us the sort of coverage we wanted and needed in the home. One vendor claimed they could do it, but when they arrived to start the job, they told us they could only cover 2/3 of the house and doubled the estimate they'd originally given us. Needless to say, we were quite discouraged. Then a neighbor recommended Krafft, and we called them right away. Jay Krafft came by the next day, and we found him to be highly knowledgeable, professional, flexible and able to think quite creatively about this project. He engendered our trust and confidence from the beginning. Prior to starting work, Mr. Krafft spent time measuring and drawing detailed layouts of the home, and then proposed installing a high velocity system which would reach most of the house. The remaining two areas of the house that this system wouldn't reach, he suggested installing LG mini-split ductless heat and a/c units. In the intervening few days before Krafft was able to start work, Mr. Krafft even personally loaned us a portable AC unit so my wife could keep cool in the heat of June in Washington. The installation crew led by Jerome was experienced, courteous, and very efficient. . . and although it was a big and complicated job, they completed all the work in 10 days. We were extremely pleased with the work Krafft did, and we will use them for a long time to come. They are simply the best.

Set up an appointment for Kraft to come out at 8:30 am and give me an estimate on a new heat pump. I waited until 8:50 am, with no show and no call. Finally got a call at 9:10 am to tell me a service technician would be there in thirty minutes. Told them not to bother I was half way to work and that it was too late. No apologies, just a question on whether I wanted to reschedule.
