Powell's Pro Building and Remodeling

A few years ago I was looking for a contractor to add a couple of windows to my dark family room. A friend in my book club recommended Powell’s Pro. They had done some remodeling for her and she was pleased with the outcome. I too found them to be an excellent choice. They did a great job cutting in two new windows and making my family room bright and inviting. Last fall when we decided to take on a bigger project, we had no hesitation in contacting Powell’s Pro. The project started out as a garage addition and HVAC upgrade. Before the project ever started Roger and Lisa patiently walked through all the ideas on our wish list, indicating what was possible. They provided a detailed bid for all the projects on our wish list and without pressure, let us know upfront what was possible. We ended up adding the garage addition, upgrading the HVAC system, upgrading all the windows and exterior doors, extending the driveway, re-stuccoing the entire exterior, replacing the roof, and adding a new walkway, porch steps, balcony and pergola. As with any home improvement project, there were a few unexpected issues along the way. Roger was great at explaining the issues and discussing options to resolve them. The whole Powell’s Pro crew was pleasant and professional to work with and their craftsmanship and attention to detail is outstanding. We are very happy with the result of our exterior remodel and will definitely hire them again when we do our kitchen update.

Powell's Pro was amazing. This is the second project they have completed for us. I was so impressed with their crew, their professionalism, and their superior workmanship. They got our basement done start to finish in 5 weeks. I would come home every day and be in awe of all the progress. I appreciated the design input by Roger, Lisa and their team. It's perfect and allows our kids to have more space - they even soundproofed the great room, so I don't have to hear kids yelling! We LOVE it.

My wife and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Powell's Pro Building. They met our every need and desire. Their employees were so easy to work with. Very, Very friendly crew that we soon called them our good friends. They came in UNDER BUDGET...what a great Christmas surprise for us. I could really go on and on. They came out and did a walk through and an estimate, but we didn't end up using them. They verbally gave us an estimate, but because we didn't have enough money they didn't give us a formal one. They were very nice and very helpful. I didn't think the price was over the top. I would use their service if we could afford them. I thought they were energetic, interactive and nice. We had a positive experience.

Our home is over thirty years old. We made the decision to do some substantial updating that included four bathrooms, a master closet, our deck and patio as well as an RV pad and driveway expansion and replacement. After examining multiple bids, meeting with multiple contractors the decision was made that Powell’s Pro was the best fit for us. Now that all of the projects are completed choosing Powell’s Pro was in fact the best decision we could have made! Some of the things of valuable to us were that the Powell’s and their employees wanted our jobs to be completed at the same standards as we wanted. All of the details were finished with a high degree of expertise and excellence. Some of the most important characteristics that we appreciated were that we could trust the Powell’s and their teams with our jobs and know that the work would be done correctly and in a timely fashion without our direct supervision, within budget and time-frame that we agreed upon. We highly recommend Powell’s Pro and will use Rodger and Lisa and their teams again, thank you Rodger and Lisa!

I simply didn't get a return phone call in response to a bid needed. Left message more than 1 week ago. Frustrating since I called 3 different contractors on this list and not one called me back.

The crew working at my house was professional, punctual, trustworthy and pleasant. They communicated well when a few surprises arose and adjusted to accommodate when a couple of additional things were added to work being performed. Roger was easy to work with and kept me updated every day on progress. I will be calling them again on my next project.

Stay away. Let's start with how this husband and wife team comes off very friendly in the beginning, once you can actually get them to answer the phone and meet in person. To start the communication is extremely poor, almost non-existent. Their business phone number is also their personal home phone and will ring through to voicemail almost 95% of the time. Next, I should have realized a red flag when I pressed for references and I only received a small handful of numbers. A few was work from years ago. When I talked to the references and started to dig about their experience they all had some negatives to say about working with Powells Pro. If this is their references then I'm scared to see what current or clients not on the reference list will say. Third, they are extremely unprofessional. At a slight disagreement the short temper begins to show, from both of them. The wife will explode into rants, and the husband will get irritated only to leave and NOT answer his phone again for weeks. Overall, One of the worst remodeling and construction firms and I advise everyone to look beyond this remodel company.

Rodger and Lisa, along with every member of their crew provided excellent service from start to finish! The bidding process was easy and thorough. After a single meeting with them, they provided a complete bid that included every detail we discussed. They helped make the cabinet, countertop, hardware and tile selections very easily. Once construction began, they were on the job at the same time every day and worked diligently until everything was completed to perfection. We threw some curve balls at them, and kept asking about additional "little" projects along the way. They always accommodated our requests efficiently and cheerfully. We look forward to having Powell's Pro do more work for us in the future!

I can't say enough good things about Powell's Pro. They are the only contractor we will hire. They turned our new home into a dream home. They always make sure they do things right the first time. They use the best materials and do the best job. Rodger makes sure things are exactly the way you want them. Their entire crew is amazing to work with and very creative. Lisa took the time to go shopping & helped me pick out carpeting, tile (floor,shower & backsplash), countertops, & the stone for the fireplace and went with me multiple times. This is the second time we have hired them for a large project and they are the only contractor that I'll hire in the future.

They started planning and ordering tile, cabinets, counter tops, fixtures, etc. well ahead, so that the job did not get hung up waiting for stuff to arrive. Their crew was timely, clean, polite and great to work with. They arrived on time every day and did not leave each day until they had cleaned up. They made every effort to keep the rest of the house clean. This was nice, as we living in the home during the remodel. Rodger and Lisa gave us some ideas that we’d not thought about. We also had some (several) unique (unusual) ideas, and they figured out a way to make them happen. There were a couple of big glitches that were beyond their control and they worked extra hard and lived up to their promise that they would make everything right. We did a lot of the painting ourselves to and save money, and their crew was very helpful with advice and tips on how to do it better/more efficiently. We could not have been happier with the experience or the end result. We can recommend Powell’s Pro without any reservations and would use them again without hesitation.

We have a 1979 home and it needed a complete update. The master bedroom did not have a functioning closet and the bathroom was too small with a shower that wasn't usable. We knew we needed someone with creativity and vision to make the space what we wanted. Out of 3 Angie's list contractors, Rodger and Lisa were in a completely different class. We were absolutely blown away. Rodger walked in and had immediate solutions and great ideas to make the space better than we could have dreamed. They were professional, but felt like friends. The crew was timely, organized, tidy, helpful, and outstanding in every way. The rest of our home has already been remodeled, but we now wish had found Powell's first. They changed our lives and our home is now perfect. Thanks to Rodger and Lisa, and all the guys at Powell's Pro.

Rodger, Lisa and employees were all very professional, honest and straightforward from start to finish. Rodger and Lisa were personally involved in helping to design and recommend tile, granite, cabinets, hardware, and plumbing fixtures. Always on time for meetings and reasonably able to meet all deadlines. We felt like the Powell's were always concerned with helping us save money in design and materials without compromising quality. Very down to earth, approachable, accessible and quick to respond to questions and concerns. Would highly recommend Powell's Pro for quality and reasonable cost. The Powell's are very good at explaining where money can be saved without compromising quality and recommending suppliers who offer quality remnants that can save substantial money.

Powells Pro did an amazing job. Not only was the work done well, but also the service and attention they provided to us was exceptional. I have watched my parents build two homes and argue with contractors to get jobs done etc. We had no issues with Powell's. They were honest and helpful and communicated with us consistently. We actually were living in Chicago during the time they were working on our house and they did an amazing job keeping us updated on important issues and making sure the work was done by the time we moved back to Utah. They kept to their timeline and we felt they were always looking out for our best interest. Rodger and LIsa met with us to help with design ideas and were always on site making sure everything that needed to be done was done correctly. They also were great at helping us stay on budget and were always willing to offer ideas that would be budget friendly. They were honest and reliable and were awesome to work with. Even now that the job is done and we have paid them in full, if we contact them with questions they get back to us right away. Rodger even came over last week, the same day I called him, to move a towel holder for me because I felt it was mounted too high. We really appreciate everything they did and would recommend them to anyone who is looking to remodel the home.

The quality of the work was wonderful. We never felt like any corners were cut. In fact, we were often surprised with added extras we weren't expecting (extra shelf above our oven with leftover butcher block, removal of weird old chimney in bathroom, new crawl space door, added extra insulation from the basement to our attic). The Powell's and their crew were fantastic to work with. Rodger and Lisa took the time to take us shopping for the counters, cabinets, flooring even down to the faucets. It was so helpful to have their expertise while making these decisions. They were great about letting us know the pros and cons of our choices. Rodger always provided 3 options for just about everything ranging in price and quality. They were accessible throughout the entire project and kept us informed and updated. They were extremely friendly and trustworthy. We would definitely use the Powell's for future projects and recommend them without reservation.

We are so grateful! They saved the day! We are looking forward to our upcoming remodel and know we are in good hands with people that truly care about us and our home.

As noted above...this project simply went more smoothly than ever imagined ("record time" to completion, as a matter of fact, in less than 5 weeks). From demolition to framing, plumbing, electrical, dry walling, tiling, painting, flooring and final finishing, it all flowed and came together like a well-oiled machine. A modest design revision to GREATLY enhance the area of the bathroom and the solution for a challenging ceiling design were handled in such a flawless manner that they were barely noticed as even "potential" problem areas. The selection of materials and supporting products was especially notable...high quality at every turn, but with cost consideration always in mind. We genuinely feel like the Powell Pros gave us the BIGGEST BANG FOR OUR BUCK! Do's...keep on doing such superlative work! And hang on to and take care of your great team...Preston, Dan, Josh and others. Don't's...never compromise on your high standards and quality of work and most of all...your fantastic, personable, customer service attitude and orientation. Bottom line...we are simply pleased beyond words with our experience with Powell Pros and would recommend them most highly! They are well worth whatever wait there may be to have them do the job! They are definitely an Angie's List Honor Roll member!!!

after meeting with the owner and his foreman, I felt comfortsble with everything we had schedualed, they did the job in a timely and professional manner , they finished ahead of scheadule, and cleaned up more than what they brought I have recommended them to my neighbors and believe they have jobs on the scheadule with them im looking forward to seeing the finished product Ihave used other contractors in the past no more theses guys are the real deal !!!!

We had gotten a number of bids bu8t didn't like any of the companies. Then we remembered we were a member of Angie's List. We called Powell's Pro and they (Rodger and Lisa Powell) came over and gave us some great ideas for the remodel. They seemed more excited about what they could do than we did . Their ideas were unigue and the made us feel like we were their only job. Although we knew we weren't. We went shopping with both of them and picked out tile, granite, fixtures, and cabinets. They were so into the project that their excitement rubbed off on us. It was a whirlwind of picking all the pieces to do the job and by the time we were done we couldn't remember what we picked. Fortnately the did. The day came to start the job and both Rodger and Lisa Powell came over along with their foreman and others that would be working on the job. We went over every detail and all were comfortable with what we were doing. Rodger's brother, Preston was the foreman on our job, and he and his crew were polite, courteous, professional, and very detail minded. They protected the house from the debris, and dirt that would be caused that would be caused by demo and construction. The remodel of the master bathroom when completed was something you would see in Better Homes and Garden. We had only wanted a new countertop in the powder room off the kitchen but what we ended up with was another Powell masterpiece. We have no complaints with this company and would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Powell's Pro is by far the best contractor I have had the pleasure to deal with. To start, Roger and Lisa show up on time and are very professional and thorough during the bid and estimating process. Communication during the planning phase was excellent. The materials selection process was easy...Lisa will help, or based on our request, just directed us to her preferred suppliers. They truly wanted us to have the design we wanted, not what they wanted us to have. Powell's held to their start schedule to the day. The work provided by their team (Preston and Dan) was second to none. They showed up on time, worked very hard and completed the job per their commitment. There were a couple unplanned small issues that arose along the way (as with every project). Powell's resolved the issues the same day and made things right...so refreshing. The quality of the work they performed was excellent. Superior attention to detail, asked questions if there was ambiguity in the instructions we provided Ensured they provided periodic checks to make sure we were happy...with placement of hardware, height of mirrors, clearances, etc. There is no question I would recommend Powell's Pro and will certainly use them in the future.

Powell's Pro is highly recommended for any home renovations or similar work. Powell's Pro has very high standards in execution of their work, show complete ownership of the entire process ensuring all loose ends are wrapped up, demonstrate excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail, are creative in their design work, are very accommodating to custom designs, are very easy to work with especially as things evolve during renovations, are proactive in managing any subcontract work required, communicate frequently on the status of the project, and have very competitive (if not the best) prices for their work. They were the lowest of three bids for a complete basement renovation (with extensive structural work) yet rival the craftmanship of multi-million dollar homes. We chose Powell's Pro due to a record of excellent reviews on Angie's List. We are very glad we did. We plan on using Powell's Pro for future home projects later this year. Use Powell's Pro. You won't be disappointed.
