I have a very old A/C and furnace, but the service tech did *not* try to sell me a new one. He told me I should replace it, simply because the repair work will become more frequent over time. But then he repaired the unit, and it has worked very well in the two years since the repair. I admire this very much--he gave me his professional opinion, without any sales pitch for a new unit. He did give me some prices on new units, but that was after he did the repair work. I needed a repairman, not a salesman, and I got what I needed. I will definitely use this company the next time I need work done.

Can't say enough about Colony. All professional, fair and competent. In this business someone who has honest, competent and professional staff---Is a tall order indeed. Other companies wouldn't fix my system after North Texas Heating and Air refused to honor their service policy , or return my money. ( Two weeks after NT. "inspected" the system-it failed, due to zero coolant.- inspection had been a farce) ONLY Colony came and repaired the mess. No gouging, no B.S.
Description of Work: I renewed my service policy; Previous work finished this time last year. Colony repaired the poor work completed by another local company that USED to employ competent employees.

They are extremely professional and family owned. My technician happens to be the son to the owner and he will be coming out today. He is probably 23 years old. I have used them twice for the last 2 years.

Called at 7 AM once I realized my A/C was not colling the house properly. The Colony's after hours answering service receive the call and told they would open by 9 AM. The answering service took down my information, but I called back at 9:05 AM. I was told they were booked for their regular Saturday hour appointments (9-12) and there was a higher service call fee after 12. I asked that for a technician to come in the afternoon even if the service call fee was higher. However, their technicians completed their other calls early and were able to come before noon and I was charged the regular service call fee. The technician (Carl, who is NATE certified) diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes and explained what caused the system to stop working. I was quoted a price for the repair and agreed to the price. The repair was done within 45 minutes. I also signed up for the annual service plan which includes a spring A/C check-up and a fall heating check-up ($115 per system - this is not included in the cost of the repair listed here. Overall, I was very satisfied with their and extremely satisfied with their ability to arrive quickly even though all their scheduled appointment times were previously booked. I will continue to use The Colony Air Conditioning and Heating... especially since they have quite a few NATE certified technicians.

The scheduler, Logan, was friendly and informative. He called me back to remind me to make sure my unit was off to make sure they would get an accurate picture of the problem. I went online and found the their website has several coupons to reduce the price of items. $20 off the first visit as well as a free second opinion. They called before they came and agreed to meet me at my house at 4:00. I was at work and was late by a few minutes and he was waiting on me. He got straight to work and figured out my compactor had gone bad and had it fixed within the hour. He educated me on why it had to be replaced and let me know about the health of my unit. He was clean and wore an identification badge and the vehicle was well marked with business name. He was well spoken and friendly as well as the scheduler. I have recommended them to a friend already.
Description of Work: My air was not working and they came in and told me what was wrong and fixed it in less than an hour. He also checked the outside unit and the Freon on the outside unit. The turn around time was less than 24 hours because of my schedule. I had to work until 3:30 and they worked me into the end of the day. It was refreshing to not feel like an inconvenience and a valued customer.

As usual, Colony is fast friendly and doesn't try to b.s. you with things you don't need. They always have the parts and equipment they need. On a different occasion, a filter get caught in my blower in the attic, and the technician hand-build (!) me a new one because the part was no longer available for my unit!! Can't say enough about how great these guys are...I won't use ANY other provider.
Description of Work: A/C was blowing hot air, called them to come out on Sunday (paid extra for that, but didn't want to wait until Monday). David arrived ahead of time and already had the new part installed (a new can) by the time I got around to the side of the house. I had hired some other bozos who did some shoddy work splicing wires together (I guess the didn't have connectors when they came out - really?) and fixed that for me really quickly. Also checked the coolant and it was perfect. He was in-and-out in thirty.

We went on vacation and came back to a hot house. A friend told us about Colony Air and we gave them a call. They came out and diagnosed the problem quickly. They ordered the part and came back the next day to install. Very good to work with and great follow through. Cost of the part and labor came out to about 150.00.

It went really well. The people were excellent. They had great customer service. They were very friendly. They were well knowledge. They trained us how to use the new system. They promised to take care of us in the future.
Description of Work: They came out to work on the heating system and AC checkup. When they were looking at it, they were telling us the efficiency was not up to par. So we bought a new system.

These guys are awesome! The house is around 40 years old and the inside central heating/AC unit is original to the house. When it went out, I was afraid that I would be told that I'd have to replace the entire unit which would cost thousand of dollars! After checking Angie's List, I called Colony Air Conditioning and Heating and scheduled an appointment. Robert was assigned to the job and actually showed up 30 minutes ahead of a scheduled 10:00am appointment! He was professional and very courteous. After checking the unit, he said it was the blower motor and he thought they had one in stock. He went back to the shop, returned with the new one, and and had my A/C unit up and running by 11:30am! Instead of thousands of dollars, it cost less than $600! I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

My upstairs AC unit was not cooling. I scheduled a service call using Colony AC's website. The professional technician arrived on time and thoroughly examined AC. They noticed my freon level was a little low on my last check-up and that it was now low to the point where it was causing cooling issues. The technician found and fixed the leak (thankfully it was nothing expensive). It has now been a few months since this repair and my AC is still running like new! I have been using Colony AC now for the past 8 years (both with my existing house and my previous home). If you want professional service from a great company I highly recommend Colony AC.

The first time the technician came out he thought I had a freon leak in my unit. When he came back the second time, ready to fill the freon, he found that the coils were just clogged and dirty. He was very polite and professional in his behaviour and I will definately call them the next time I need any work done.

I thought it was going to be a very costly fix, but they came out and was able to do some quick repairs. Other companies had told me I would need to spend around $5000 to have it fixed. They were very professional, too.

The service call was handled very professionally. I was invited to watch what he was checking and given an explanation of what he was doing. In searching for the "rattle" I had heard he was able to assure me it was nothing critical, and while he could not stop it completely, he was able to make it almost go away by putting in a couple of spacers to hold parts more tightly.
Description of Work: Fall check of heating and A/C system. Also had a "rattle" in the system which he looked for and corrected.

I've been using Colony A/C for probably 7+ years (they used to be the only Carrier recommended service company in the area). No matter which Technician was there, they've always been very professional, with "Yes Sir" and "No Sir" and always wearing their protective "booties" even often after I tell them they didn't have to. Scheduling is usually extremely quick, and they always have been punctual as well as calling to warn "they'll be there in the next hour" or whatever. Only two negatives I've had was [1] a brand new A/C was installed and a few days later no cool air was blowing. They came out and fixed it immediately (needed coolant, iirc). [2] The other negative I had was I thought something was causing my new A/C to have the fan run w/o the compressor kicking on. I asked about this at least twice, during my normal six month checkups, and they never really figured it out. This last visit, the Tech mentioned his Tech Manual for the thermostat didn't have all the codes in it that my thermostat has in it. Well .. they installed this thermostat when they installed the new A/C (I didn't know I was getting a new thermostat and have never really liked it vs my old one, but moreover if you sell/install it, you should know how to maintain it!). After I google'd a while, I found an updated manual and was able to fix the fan issue I had suspected for 18 months (was a simple setting buried in the thermostat installation options). Even with these minor issues, I've continued to be as happy with them as I probably could be (I find it's always hard to trust service people when the systems being serviced are so foreign to most of us, as well as being so costly when something needs fixing). But I appreciate the professionalism they always project, and I feel they are telling me the truth :: and that says a lot. I just hope when they do find something weird (like not having an updated service manual available) they inform their management and it gets fixed. last note:: I did have an experience once with their actual owner, who was actually the one doing my service, ask to take a piece of my broken A/C with him so he could use it as a training tool. That really impressed me!! It means he cares, and wants his people to be knowledgeable. Kudos to him.
Description of Work: Usually I just have them do a summer/winter checkup, but in the past they had replaced one of my A/C units. This last visit was partial winter checkup, but also to help determine why that new A/C they installed seemed to have the fan always running, but no compressor on .. and why it would be on when the room was 72 and the A/C was set for 77. Seemed strange....

Very professional team. We've used Colony for 10 years and this is the third system they have replace for us. They worked hard to keep our old systems working. Their quote process is straightforward - very little pressure to choose the top of the line system. When it became apparent that we would have to wait a few days for the installation their technician called and offered to top off our freon every day until the work was done. Installation went smoothly. The technicians explained the new system to me and left their work area as clean as it was when they started.

Had Colony to come for an "emergency" no heat issue two years ago. Doyle, the tech, though "young" was very professional, technically savvy, fixed issue in no time, price was extremely reasonable. Gave a synopsis of our 11 year old contractor grade system; prepeared us for the inevitable. This last fall Colony installed a new furnace and ac unit. Their quote, though up front, was more expensive than the other two quotes was actually less expensive over the purported life of the unit(s) including the service contract for tune-ups...not a lot mind you, but less! The staff is always courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. My 2 biggest issues, and this goes to pretty much all service companies, is the "service window" for the task is always a half day ...8 to 1pm or 1 to 5 pm. Certainly ya'll can do better than that. Second...seasonal service isn't done on the week-end...only on week-days. I'm in the service business...we service on week-ends and week-days. If our customer isn't working, he can't pay. If he's off, we accomodate his schedule not ours. Please think about this. There are plenty of techs not working today (not all are bad workers either) looking for an opportunity; could improve your bottomline and get you a better grade overall. Thanks for being there for us.

This started with the A/C until starting to drain outside the house. I had put off calling anyone to come out and check the system out. When that day finally arrived (i.e. I was home), I called Colony. I wanted them to have a look at the A/C and Heating and do a tuneup on both. They sent Doyle out that very afternoon! Doyle listened to what I needed done and explained in great detail why a tuneup for the A/C wouldn't be cost effective because our air temperature had dropped well below the pressure gradient. However, he went ahead and blew out our A/C drain line, did tune up on our Furnace (it passed!) and we'll see Colony again in the spring once we warm up to do our A/C tuneup. We were very pleased with the service and will definately be using them again!
Description of Work: We asked that a checkup be completed on our Furnace and A/C system. However, the temperature that particular day (and in fact that week) had been below the optimum temperature you need to check the A/C. Also, we were having a slight draining issue with our A/C unit.
