I asked that all this work be completed before my Army son from Washington and my daughter from Germany, came home for Christmas. Brad told me it was do-able. I asked many times for a written contract for the work to be done but instead was told of his many satisfied local hospital doctors and a local hospital attorney. He also told me how he was a very dedicated Christian attending a large local church. I made the mistake of giving him a key to our house and he installed the cabinets when I was not home: 1) The kitchen pantry had many paint drip marks and had not been correctly sanded before being painted. The finish was so rough you could snag clothing on it. There was also a large, obvious bulge on the side of the cabinet that looked like a nail/screw had been improperly placed from inside the cabinet during construction. 2) The cabinet over the refrigerator had not been correctly sanded before being painted and the underside of the cabinet was not painted, which could be seenly easily since the underside of the cabinet was 6 inches above the refrigerator. 3) The TV/bookshelf cabinet did not recess into the wall space it was designed for because it was 2 inches too wide and the TV cabinet base covered half of the electrical outlet needed for the TV. It looked ridiculous. I called Brad when I came home and discovered the cabinet problems and he said he would correct them because he wanted me to be satisfied with his work. WRONG. He came the next morning and removed the cabinets, leaving a huge scratch on our living room wood floor as he removed the TV cabinet. He has refused to return any corrected cabinets and will not answer my phone calls or return my messages. I have left messages on his cell phone and his home phone and it has been 5 months since he took the cabinets to correct them. Everything he was paid to do with these cabinets, I have had to hire someone else to start over and do the work. Brad told me he was a Master Plumber and Master Electrician and he did all the work himself. HE DID NOT DO ALL THE WORK HIMSELF. For the laundry room installation, he subcontracted a plumber and I will have to hire a real electrician to correct his electrical work. Brad agreed to have the plumbing and electrical ready before the new washer and dryer were delivered in early December 2011. He did not complete the necessary work before the washer and dryer were delivered but said he could install the washer and dryer for me. He did not attach the washer or dryer to the pedestals before connecting the plumbing and electrical and I had to pay someone to remove the washer and dryer and attach them to the pedestals with the hardware included from the manufacturer. He also did not vent the dryer through the attic and roof and I had to hire a roofer to complete this. Brad made me a real good deal on the leftover tile from another job for the laundry room/den. Brad miscalculated the amount of tile he needed and ran out of tile. I now have a two-colored tile floor because of his mistake, part cream tile and part brown tile. I now have to hire a real tile installer to correct the tile. On November 22, 2011, Brad told me via phone I would pay half of the job up front and the remaining half upon the completion of the job. I paid Brad half of the job when he began the work. He also insisted that the 2 checks be made out to him personally, not to his business Hubbard Construction, because he did not have his DBA papers with him. However, a few days before he was to deliver the cabinets, he said he works on draws and needed another $1,500. I was conned and lied to by this smooth-talking "Christian" builder. Shame on me I trusted him and shame on Brad. In 2 checks, I paid him $4,950 and I do not have the kitchen pantry, over the refrigerator cabinet, a TV/bookshelf cabinet, a finished broom closet, nor the bi-fold doors for the washer/dryer closet. I would never use Brad Hubbard again for any type of work and would not recommend him for anything to anyone.
