About us
We are a kitchens and bathrooms company. We specialize in custom showers, custom cabinets and counter tops. We staff high end professionals and use sub contractors only when necessary. We also give a very detailed estimate, action oriented so you only pay for the work preformed and gives control to the homeowner.
We found Remodel Specialists on Angie's List, contacted Jim Godre, the owner, who came to our house to walk through the areas where refurbishing was needed.Jim sent us a detailed estimate including the items discussed. We approved the contract and work began a few days later. They remained on schedule, much to my surprise considering all that had to be done. Everyone in that company worked hard all the time they were in our house and were pleasant and courteous trhoughout. We have only praise for Jim and his crew. When the time comes for us to have anything else done, wherever we might be, we will ask Jim again to do the work. Furthermore, we will recommend him to all our friends and relatives. An excellent job well done i a timely fashion. THanks Jim!! Mark and Sonia Stuart

I had done a lot of research on Angie's List on this company, and fortunately they are located within a few miles of our house. We went through three visits with the owners before deciding on the final plan. I decided on RS because of how they guarantee their shower installations to be leak proof. I was impressed on my first visit to their showroom, but once the construction began, I was even more impressed by how they execute the day to day work. Every day they provide an email summarizing the day's activities, and specifically who is to show up and what they will be accomplishing. All of the work is done by people on their company payroll, with one exception: the shower glass work is sub contracted out. (Even their granite and marble fabrication is done "in house.") This company's work was nothing short of outstanding. With any remodel project, there are going to be issues that arise. What makes Remodel Specialists "special" is how they communicate with you when the plan has to be altered because of things beyond their control. They originally estimated the job would take 14 working days, and they were able to finish it in that time. This was remarkable because we had to deal with a shipping problem by the tub supplier, as well as a marble slab that cracked during fabrication. (The slab had to be replaced at no cost to us.) Work summary: They removed all of the floor tile, old tub and cultured marble surrounding the tub and shower, removed the shower pan, re-piped plumbing fixtures to a different wall, rebuilt the shower floor with proper slope, framed the new tub area, installed waterproof cement-backed walls and then added a waterproof membrane to them. (More details on how they waterproof is on their website.) Once that was all done, the tile installers came in (they really aren't installers...they are artists!) They did the wall tiles and floor tile installation, and then the plumbers came back to install the fixtures. (We used our own faux painter for paint work only because I am loyal to this guy and wanted to get him some work. Painting costs and shower glass were not included in the $20k figure above.) Our project wasn't inexpensive, but it was done right and it looks incredible. I firmly believe that Remodel Specialists is a company that can absolutely be trusted to do what they are paid to do. ( I have no financial interest in Remodel Specialists.) Thank you.....
Description of Work: Remodel Specialists worked with us to tear out and replace the existing shower and tub area of our master bath, and tear out and replace the tile floor in the bathroom and water closet. We had previously remodeled the vanities with granite and updated the mirrors, so we needed to finish the other side of the room. We took our design ideas and worked with Jim, Lori and Sarah to completely re-design the tub, shower area and floor. We were looking for a designer look with a modern feel.

I love the detailed estimates! It is very detailed and explains what is to be done, by line item and the cost. They tore out a fir down, vent hood and cabinet to open up our kitchen; installed 2 pendant lights, 6 recessed lights, sanded the cabinets and painted, replaced the kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts and installed new ones with soft close feature. They retexurized the ceiling where the fir down was removed, painted it all and it is absolutely beautiful! They also installed the hardware on all as well (hidden hinges, pulls, and knobs). Installed a large pullout under the kitchen sink, and 2 pullout drawers under one cabinet. They also replace my laundry room cabinet doors and the cabinet doors in my half bath and painted those as well. In the breakfast nook, we had a built-in desk that has some drawers, bookshelves, and a place for a chair. We had them reconstruct the opening where the chair was and had them make it a pullout with a door front, sanded and painted all as well. Last, but definitely not least is our fireplace! They did an absolutely phenomenal job and made our ugly, old, discolored brick fireplace into the focal point of our living room!!! They covered it in Quartzite, which blended beautifully with the colors in our tile! They also created us a floating granite mantle! For the hearth, they made it a granite top! The only issue I have is that the project manager is almost never around so you need to know if something needs to be fixed, or is not done properly. You are paying for this service. UPDATE: I had them come back out and remove a bi-fold louvered door that led from the kitchen to the dining room. They had to remove and replace the door jamb, sand and paint. Once again, a great job on that! UPDATE 9/30/2013: The paint is cracking on several of the kitchen cabinet doors that were replaced! This should not be happening 9 months later!
Description of Work: They replaced our kitchen cabinet doors, drawers, removed a cabinet and fir down. installed 6 recessed lights and 2 pendants. They covered our brick fireplace with a quartz stone, added a floating granite mantle, installed a granite hearth.

We found Jim on Angie's List and set an appointment. He arrived precisely on time and spent well over 2 hours going through the house with us, taking photos, and making notes. We really valued his insight and design suggestions since we were not using an interior designer. His bid was well within our budget and provided leeway for upgrades, subtractions, and additions as we went. Since we had to move out of the house to redo the hardwood floors, Jim gave a discount for "non-occupied." This saved several hundred dollars. A total remodel is not pretty to watch, but the finished product was beautiful. We are very happy with our house and proud to have guest over. Positives: Quality work and Jim is very patient/professional. He stayed with the project from start to finish and was good at his word on everything. We budgeted and extra 10% for those unexpected surprises, and Jim worked with us to stay within the budget. Negatives: There were a couple of times when very little work was done over a 2-3 day period, and this was aggravating since we were out of the house for several weeks and expecting dust to be flying every day. Suggestions: As in any construction project, plan on extra expenses above the bid price for upgrades and those unexpected problems. (We had to re-frame the kitchen ceiling before putting up new sheetrock as the old framing had been spliced together at some point in the past and was not structurally sound.)
Description of Work: We did a complete interior remodel and actually moved ourselves and everything we owned out of the house for 5 weeks. 1. Jim set us up with a man to redo the hardwood floors, and he sanded and stained the floors to start the project. Finish was done at the very end of the project and just before we moved back in. 2. Kitchen: Demo'd the kitchen ceiling and put up new sheetrock with can lighting. Repaired brick facia on one wall and custom matched the original pine paneling on another wall. Saved most of our existing cabinets and added additional custom cabinets where needed. Granite counter tops and installed new appliances (we paid for the appliances separately from the remodel bid.) Under mounted our existing sink and re plumbed with new fixtures and hardware. Installed travertine flooring as an upgrade. New, 3-stage crown molding added. Painted top to bottom. 3. Living Room: Sheetrock repair, 3-stage crown molding, and painted top to bottom. Also opened up the foyer and retrimmed without having to add structural support. 4. Hallway/Bedrooms: Replaced attic stair unit, other repairs, and painted top to bottom. 5. Bathroom #1: Repaired stuff the previous bathroom contractor would not correct and repainted top to bottom.
Just as Jim was ready to begin work, our family had a major medical crisis. Jim offered us an "out," even though the contract had been signed and money had been put down. I really appreciated this, but we all decided that if Jim and his crews could work around certain circumstances, then I wanted to continue. Every single person who came to our house was considerate, hard-working (They didn't even take breaks except for lunch!), polite, quiet, and easy to work with. Jim's son Nic is the project manager, and he and 1 or 2 other men came by to check on things periodically. The workers did not need much micro-managing, though! Every morning, Sarah from the showroom/office would send an email with the day's activities--who was coming and what they would be working on. Although this was not 100% reliable, I understand when there are conflicts, or "choreography" issues in the process, and that there were other projects going on at other locations at the same time. My shower was torn out to the studs, reinforcements were put in for the future frameless shower door, and slowly a gorgeous new shower was born! I wanted the bathroom to be bright and cheerful, but at the same time relaxing. We chose white subway tile because it is classic, and added a trim of tiny glass tiles in blues and grays. This same tile and trim were put around the backsplash of the tub. Granite was installed on the counter, windowsill by the tub, and a shelf at the end of the tub. Removing the massive amounts of wallpaper and prepping the walls was a major project, too! But now the blue/gray walls and white cabinets and trim are beautiful! Sliding, gold-trimmed, mirrored closet doors were replaced with 6-panel sliding doors. We chose brushed nickel fixtures and knobs throughout. When the work was all finished, the "glass man" came and installed the frameless shower door. It was a splurge, from our standpoint, but makes the bathroom look expensive and elegant. The glass guy also installed 2 custom mirrors, which were not expensive at all, and much higher quality than the "Made in China" ones that I had been looking at at the big box stores. The entire master bathroom project took about 3 weeks. When completed, we had the floor tile acid washed, and a grout stain/sealer was applied--It looks like a brand new floor, for just $200. Every day of this part of the project, the men were courteous, worked around our issues, including our occasionally needing to let our dogs out for a break, and cleaned up every day before leaving. Paper and drop cloths were put down from the front and back doors to the work area, and these were picked up every day. Furniture in the bedroom was covered in plastic, and our closets were sealed. This is necessary when the tear out is being done, so be sure you get out several days worth of clothes, and have an alternate place to sleep and shower! During the MB redo, the granite was installed in the kitchen. Jim had taken me to the granite yard to select my two, and this is quite an adventure! Jim suggested that a gentle curve be added to the granite on the cooktop peninsula; this expanded the work area from the breakfast room side, and looks beautiful. His crew was especially careful to preserve the existing tile backsplash, which I did not want to replace. Their work was perfect! We had a new stainless sink installed, and new pull-out faucet. Jim encouraged us to purchase all fixtures through him, and I'm glad that we did. After the Kohler faucet was installed, we discovered a nick in the finish. If we had purchased it ourselves through Lowe's, we would have had to deal with exchanging it, but more importantly, we would have had to pay for the second installation. Fixtures bought from RS are guaranteed--product and workmanship--for life, and the price is almost comparable. There are cheaper fixtures available at big box stores, but they are cheaper! A couple of days were spent on the powder room--removing wallpaper, prepping walls, painting, and installing new fixtures. As we were beginning the upstairs bath, we had a surprise in an upstairs bedroom--the ceiling collapsed as the result of a slow leak in an air conditioner connection in the attic. Nic just happened to be here and helped us move computers and desks. He called their plumber, who was here within the hour, Nic measured, consulted with his dad, we had a bid that day, and the ceiling was repaired within a few days. We were so thankful they were available and responded so quickly! Of course, this delayed the completion of the upstairs bathroom, but, oh well! Wallpaper down, walls prepped and painted a light warm gray, cabinets painted a darker color (gorgeous!), ceiling and door and trim painted the lightest color on the paint strip, new cultured marble counter and new fixtures, and new brown/gray tile flooring. The tub enclosure did not need replacing, and we were trying to keep costs down. We now have a Wow! guest bathroom. An additional thing that I appreciated about Remodel Specialists, was that whenever I had a question, or there was a hiccup (wrong fixtures ordered for the upstairs bath) I sent an email and had a response back within an hour. The problem was taken care of quickly, (and there were very few problems!), with no excuses, usually that day! We hit a sort of plateau and slow down about 3/4 of the way through the entire project, but when we brought this to Jim's attention, it was quickly remedied. And at the end of the entire project, the punch list was cheerfully completed. Our daughter works for a fine arts/design firm and helped me with color selections. (I have no eye for that.) If not for her, though, I think I would have gotten lots of guidance from Jim, wife Lori, and Sarah. Remodel Specialists is a wonderful firm to work with. Every person I dealt with was considerate, professional, and listened to my requests and concerns; the workmen take pride in their work and it shows. No major remodeling project is completed without a few bumps, but ours were minor and easily and cheerfully taken care of. I am especially grateful to this family for their thoughtfulness and concern for our family.
Description of Work: Our Master Bath needed major updating; wallpaper was dark, overbearing, and every wall surface was covered with it, shower stall floor was cracked; all fixtures were gold and very corroded; cultured marble counter top was discolored. We wanted the wallpaper removed and the walls painted, the shower stall completely redone, fixtures replaced, and counter top replaced. The cabinets were in good condition and didn't need replacing, just painting. The garden tub was also in good condition, although the cultured marble surround was discolored and ugly. Upstairs bathroom was beyond "cute!" Just hideous! We wanted to update it, make it attractive for our guests, but not spend a big bundle of money on it. The downstairs little powder room simply needed the outdated wallpaper removed, walls painted, and new fixtures. Our oak kitchen cabinets had been painted white a few years back, we had had a good-looking tile backsplash put in, our appliances were fairly new, but we still had the laminate counter tops. After much research (I originally wanted stainless steel counters until I discovered the cost of custom ones was way out of our reach!), we decided on granite. I asked neighbors for recommendations, joined Angies List, and double-checked with the BBB. I got three bids. The first was from a highly recommended local contractor, the second was from Remodel Specialists, and the third from another local contractor who has been in business in our area for a long time. My first two bids were right in line with each other; the third was $10,000 more! So that one was eliminated! Perhaps I would have been happy with the first contractor, but I really liked that Jim Godre with Remodel Specialists gave me such a highly detailed bid; and I liked that his is a family run business. Additionally, all of their workers are Remodel Specialists employees, so there's no dependency on sub-contractors. We agreed to a lockbox on the house, and I never felt uncomfortable leaving workers in my house, even when I was gone late in the day and asked one of them to lock up the house when they left for the day. We needed to get the initial bid down within our budget, so when my husband and I met with Jim, he was easy to work with and very agreeable. (This was the nature of our work with him for the next 5 weeks.) He offered hints and suggestions that were very helpful.
I learned of Remodel Specialists from Angies' List and started working with Jim in March. Jim was very patient with us as we postponed the work until September due to family issues. Lori and Sarah helped significantly in selecting tile. Jim and Lori were very flexible and helped us add scope of work just before the project started and also during the project. Nic did a good job as project manager. Sergio did an exceptionally good job with the painting. Overall, the work done was very high quality and, therefore, good value for the money.

From the first visit to measure and write up an estimate, they were great to work with. The tile crew went through different design options with my wife and made suggestions on what would look the best. They worked with us and allowed us to make some changes as we went an even tackled a couple of projects for us that weren't originally included in the scope of work (repairing drywall, texturing and painting). We had an issue with what appeared to be a film or haze on the tile in the living room. Jim was very responsive and came out to look at it with me. He had the crew come back out and clean the tile and it looked great. We will be changing out the flooring in our main residence soon and will be calling Jim and Remodel Specialists again.
Description of Work: Prepped concrete slab for tile. Installed tile in two bathrooms, hallway, living room, kitchen and laundry area. Installed carpet in three bedrooms. Installed two toilets. Installed tile backsplash behind stove in kitchen.

The work was done in two separate projects. The master bathroom was done first beginning in October 2011 and the guest bath was done about 6 months later. For the master bath I obtained three bids. For the subsequent guest bath I was pleased with the work of Remodel Specialists on the master bath and did not obtain another bid. The bid pricing was consistent with the first job. MASTER BATHROOM Work started with a complete tear out of the tub and the 3 walls plus ceiling surrounding the tub. Also existing the existing flooring was removed. This consisted mostly of carpet except for some tile in the toilet area. We had a somewhat unique design concept which Jim Godre (Remodel Specialists owner) didn?t totally like but he gave us several ideas to help make it better. We wanted a full wall on the shower end and walk-in opening on the opposite end with no door. We were able to put all the water controls on the wall which enabled us to let the water warm without having to walk into the shower. Jim recommended more than one outlet for the shower using a special valve system which I was not familiar with. We ended up with one shower outlet from the ceiling and another one from a handheld shower head which was fixed to a vertical bar on the wall. This arrangement has worked out very well. After the wall was roughed in, Jim did an inspection visit during which we decided to lower the height of the wall slightly which greatly improved the design and lighting in the shower. He also made some good suggestions for location of various towel and hook hardware in the shower area. This visit was very beneficial; unfortunately it was Jim?s only visit during the work process. (More on this later.) The tile was selected from the showroom of Remodel Specialists and we couldn?t be happier with the selection and how it turned out. We used the small time squares for the shower floor, 6 x 6 on the shower ceiling, and 12 x 12 on the shower walls and bathroom floor. The drain was moved to the center of the shower which I think was essential. One of the bids I received had suggested leaving the drain where it was which would have been a disaster. This was a big red flag for that contractor. The original plan was to sand down the face of the cabinets and restain them. After starting this process, Jim suggested we resurface the cabinet face and build new cabinet doors and drawers as the quality and age of the existing wood was a problem. I was at first skeptical of the resurfacing with a thin plywood but Jim assured me he did this all the time with good results. So we did this and it turned out very well. This was done with no additional cost other than for the materials. The walls and ceiling were repainted as well as all the woodwork. This included three full size doors which were previously stained. We had an old mirror which covered most of the wall above the countertop which had to be removed and the wall textured for painting. We later sourced two large hanging mirrors from a supplier that Jim recommended. The lighting was moved from the ceiling to the wall which required relocation of two electrical outlets. I was unhappy with a few of the ceiling tile and they removed and replaced them. There was one snafu on what might have been the simplest job of all. The knobs on the cabinet doors were installed inconsistently. When I complained about it, Jim had new doors made, stained, and installed at no additional cost. It truly demonstrated his commitment to customer service. It will be one year in November since this work was completed and we have experienced no problem with anything. GUEST BATHROOM The guest bath was a much simpler project since there was no shower conversion. Once again we selected the tile from the Remodel Specialist showroom with Jim?s help. We were able to get 12 x 24 tiles for installing a horizontal pattern in the shower and matching 12 x 12 tiles for the bathroom floor. There was an interruption during the tile installation when it was discovered the initial order was not sufficient to do the job and additional tiling had to be put on rush order. This was a bit frustrating but not a significant delay. This bathroom also had a large wall mirror which had to be removed and the wall textured. There was a problem getting the wall texturing to match the desired texture and the first attempt was a total disaster. They completely redid this work and then it took several follow-up attempts to fix various spots on the wall. I don?t know why this was such a big problem on the bathroom when it wasn?t on the first one. Once again they continue to work it until I was happy with the results. This time we knew to plan for resurfacing the cabinets and making new doors and drawers. Everything was stained as with the master bath. The walls, ceiling, and woodwork were repainted. The lighting outlet was also moved to accommodate a taller mirror. THE GOOD The best testimonial I can give is that we went back to Remodel Specialist for the second bathroom work without even getting a bid from someone else. And if we were starting similar project today I would do the same thing. (Maybe I wouldn?t tell them they were the only bid.) In doing work in a shower area the most critical element is the water proofing and tile work; and this is their strength. They also demonstrated a commitment to customer satisfaction throughout the job by fixing anything that I was unhappy with. NOT SO GOOD I expect jobs of this nature rarely go without hiccups. I observed two primary issues and it think both can be attributed to the company going through some growing pains. Jim was turning over much of the day-to-day job responsibility to his supervisors. He only visited the job site once while the work was ongoing. As I mentioned previously, this visit was invaluable and I wish he could have been there more but understand why he wasn?t. But the supervisors were not present on daily basis either and I felt this led to some of the issues which required rework. I am fully convinced that Jim wants to provide a quality product and will do whatever possible to make the customer happy; however, I felt there should have been more quality checks from the supervisors rather than me having to do it. The second issue was the length of time required for the work. I often felt I was competing with other jobs for their crews. Most days there was some work done but the work typically encompassed only partial days which led to some inefficiency and longer overall job time. These issues should not overshadow the dedicated customer service which was demonstrated and confidence I have that the critical work was done to high standards. I offer this more for improvement opportunity and customer knowledge.
Description of Work: Complete remodel on master and guest bathrooms, excluding countertops. The master bath included conversion of a tub and shower to a standalone shower. The shower area was tiled on floor, walls, and ceiling. The old bathroom flooring was removed and new tile was put down to match the shower area. The existing cabinets were refinished and stained. The bathroom was repainted, including two small walk-in closets in master bath. The guest bath maintained the existing tub and shower configuration. The shower area was tiled to ceiling and the flooring was replaced throughout the bathroom with matching tile. Piping was replaced to raise the height of the shower. Like the master bath, cabinets were refinished and everything painted.

The project went very well, we even added one simple thing to make our life easier in the long run. We took their suggestion to re-key our front door so that our total # of keys needed is reduced. The workmen were, as always, neat and professional.
Description of Work: After we had Remodel Specialists do our bathrooms, we had a little time until our company arrived for the wedding. We hated our patio/kitchen window wall. It was ugly and awkward. The original builder had installed the patio sliding door backwards, but we had put up with it for years. We had speculated, what did we want instead? How could it be better? Finally we had a consult with Jim, and worked out a solution. (see pics) They demo-ed the entire area above the kitchen sink, and the patio entrance. Now we have a standard back door, which can be locked securely (unlike that patio monstrosity). The wall and new window have a better R value, and the finished project looks like it was always this way. We couldn't be happier. Our dogs can't see the squirrels in the trees as well, but they will have to cope.

We had water damage due to a leak in our water heater in the attic. Unfortunately we were both at work, so there was a lot of damage done. The side of the house that our bedrooms and two full bathrooms are on was a complete disaster. I interviewed several contractors, but Jim was the only one that was completely supportive of us doing some of the work ourselves (i.e. simple drywall repairs and painting.) He was on time, curteous, and my phone calls were always answered or returned by someone in the office in a timely manner. That was true of everone we dealt with at Remodel Specialists throughout the entire process. The estimate was as detailed as it could possibly be so there were absolutely no suprise costs for anything. The guys were always on time and cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. Every morning I would get a heads up email of who was coming and what they would be working on. For a situation that could have been ridiculously stressful, they made it as wasy and smooth as it could go.

Happy Customer! This was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. The process was so smooth and hassle free. Estimate was on a Thursday and the work was done the following Monday. I had my lighting in my kitchen and bathroom re-configured and new lights and electrical outlets added. The employees and were on time, with everything needed to complete the work to be done. (First time I have ever seen that happen) They were also very pleasant and curtious. Everything was cleaned and as if they had never been there. And the work done is flawless! I am planning to have new granite counter tops put in my kitchen this fall and I do plan to use Remodel Specialists for this also. Thank you for making my life a little easier!Christina Humble, TX
Description of Work: I had my lighting in my kitchen and bathroom re-configured and new lights and electrical outlets added.
Got an estimate from Jim to repair our ceilings after a water leak and further repairs grew from that. We decided to repair all horizontal plumbing lines fearing new leaks. Jim's crew worked together to open new areas of the ceiling and repair the lines. Flako did an excellent job of replacing the sheetrock, floating and texturing. There is no evidence of where the repair was, it matches that well. We also replaced a shower fixture and water heater, including the vertical lines to those. A ceiling beam that had to come down because of a water leak above it was expertly replaced, A back door was also replaced. We are very happy with the service and work done by Remodel Specialists. We were given daily emails to tell us what work would be done that day or to tell us that if no one would be coming that day. Any questions or issues were responded to quickly. We would definitely use Remodel Specialists again..
Description of Work: Replaced all horizontal galvanized pipe and some vertical lines with PEX flexible pipe.Replaced sheet rock from water leaks and replacement of pipeExcellently matched existing texture on ceilings and replaced ceiling beam, painted ceiling and walls where repairedReplaced back door Replaced water heaterReplaced shower fixture
Just a great pleasure working with Jim and his people. From start to finish, Jim was always accessible, professional, and gave great advice. Prices were fair and the final product A+. I would not hesitate recommending him to anyone. In fact, it was a recommendation from a co-worker that I contacted him to complete the remodeling project of this 30 year old home.

Perfectly. Everything was done as anticipated -- very professionally. Once we agreed to the estimate, for the master bathroom work, we were directed to a granite provider, selected the slab, decided (with the fabricator) where to cut the slab for the counter top and approved the installation. We selected (with Remodel Specialists staff member) the faucets and their plumber installed them. For the tile work, we were provide numerous samples and once selected the work was scheduled and the installation completed. Were are very pleased with all of the work performed. Every technician was dressed with a Remodel Specialists shirt and identified themselves upon arrival.
Description of Work: Everyone at Remodel Specialists was exceptional. Jim Godre provided an estimate for a new granite counter top and faucets in our master bathroom and ceramic tile in the laundry room and a bathroom. To a person, the work was done professionally, as scheduled and competed without an issue. I would recommend Remodel Specialists (and have) to anyone. They ensured that the work was done to our specifications and completeness before deeming the job complete.

When we changed our course of action, I assumed that we'd be put in the schedule a couple of weeks down the calendar but Jim had a crew available and was ready to go-- we picked out our flooring, selected our paint-- asked them not to do the baseboards until later since we were having built in shelves and office furniture-- it all took 2 days. Monday they put a lockbox on for us; Tuesday I got a phone call first thing from Jim reporting that they were on the job and reviewing what we wanted done-- they stripped the carpet, prepped the floor and painted. Wednesday my husband was at home with the flooring team came in and they discussed the layout and direction of the planks offering expert advice. Evidently they finished around noon -- with the note that we needed to not walk on it for 6 hours to allow the adhesives to set (not the most pleasant smell-- but it dissipates quickly)-- the entire project took a day and half and it is of the utmost professional level in terms of crew and product. Although I did not solicit additional bids-- I'm pretty sure that Jim's bid would have been among the highest but one must pay for quality-- and I like that his team works for him and are not sub-contracting with other jobs. And I believe most have been with him over 5 years-- so he knows and trusts his people. That's huge when they pretty much have free reign in our house while we are at work. I will admit it was hard to hire out the painting of the room-- it's something that we could have done ourselves and saved $600-- but we would not have managed the professional look. I'm attaching photos-- but the room looks unfinished because we are waiting for the office furniture to be installed before we put in the baseboards-- and we plan to buy new outlet covers-- so those are not installed. I also wish that the photos better represented the paint shade... it is washed out in these photos. Pros-- excellent communication (phone and email updates); nice showroom; wonderful staff (all are employed by Remodel Specialist - no sub-contractors; great product; excellent craftsmanship.I started to give them a B for price-- based on the fact that it is probably higher than the rest-- but I think the price reflects the quality. And I can't wait to get started on the remainder of our projectsDos--- Do hire Remodel Specialist Don'ts--- Do not hesitate-- hire them.
Description of Work: We selected Remodel Specialist based only on Angie's list-- when Jim came to give us our initial estimate we knew he was the one for the job. When we went to his office to review the bid-- he said that he knew we had gotten other bids--but we had not, because we wanted to work with his team-- even though we could probably have gotten a lower bid. We began working with the Godre's (this is a family owned business) on our plans to re-design the bathroom/master bedroom and in the process we decided to put hardwood floors throughout the house beginning with our office/guest bedroom. We are still planning on the bathroom re-model but it's been pushed back while I decide on the tile choices. So I will only review the current project-- flooring & painting of our small office/guest bedroom.

I don't think anyone would say remodeling is a joy. It can't be, you have strangers in the house, noise, dust, upheaval whatnot. But I will say that this remodeling went as smooth as it could go. The men were prompt and polite, Jim and Nic were attentive to the project, with daily e-mail updates on the project. If I had any questions, I could always get answers from someone. There were very few minor glitches; I didn't expect a perfect project--when you're working with people, things happen, but there was nothing that was not resolved quickly when brought to Remodel Specialists attention. I would absolutely recommend Remodel Specialists.
Description of Work: Our home is circa '78. We've done bits and pieces of DIY remodeling, and it looked it. My hubby is a willing spirit, but he lacks in expertise. We put off the inevitable as long as we could, but we're facing a wedding in June, with out of town guests. Our master bath was literally crumbling around us. The tile was falling off the walls. We had a plan, to rectify what the builder had not done, to incorporate some wasted space into the master bath, and it involved moving both the entry to the master bath and master closet. We started with that idea, but not much else. So long story short, Jim Godre helped us bring our fuzzy idea into reality. We had not the first idea about costs, materials, time involved or much else. He was respectful of our budget, although we later decided our budget could stretch some to accommodate some indulgent fixtures. We gutted our master bath to the studs, re-using only the sink/vanity and commode. Our new shower is everything we could have ever wanted, we enjoy it every day. The hall bath didn't need quite so much, we replaced the lighting, the sink/vanity; re-textured and painted the walls and replaced the entry door. It is fresh, updated and ready for company. In addition, because the house is so old, we replaced a lot of the old galvanized plumbing with PEC piping. It has improved the water pressure and decreased the amount of sediment in the water. The old pipes were quite nasty inside. The job took from 2/22 to 3/22 with some workmen doing Sat. work (the tile guys).

It was a very smooth job! They came when they said they'd be here and did the job right! Nice to have contractors you can depend on.
Description of Work: We had Remodel Specialists come give us a quote to completely remodel our Master Bathroom and they came back with a very detailed proposal. We were given several options for several different budget scenarios. We haven't started the remodel yet but we were so impressed with them we had them replace and install 2 brand new hot water heaters. Their employees were punctual, respectful and very good! Highly recommend Remodel Specialists for any home improvement need.

We have used Remodel Specialists before and are, again, pleased with the work. The tile work is exceptional and they were able to do what others were not able or willing to do. (put tile in-lays in an alreading existing floor). They stayed on schedule and always were professional. They were one of the higher bids but we are not sorry for that. We especially felt blessed to have Brad as our foreman for the job. He was responsive to our questions and concerns and he was so easy to work with, making the project go much smoother. Jim and Lori are wonderful people and they care about their customers. They were great at offering suggestions yet were respectful if our desires were different. We can't say enough good about them. The bathroom looks beautiful and we do not hesitate to recommend them!
Description of Work: Our master bath was made over. We had the shower completely redone, countertops replaced with marble, tiles inlaid in floor, new fixtures, a wood tub surround to match cabinetry installed and had all cabinets and doors, painted, and installed a new exhaust fan.

Nice job overall. We love our new master bath. Had a few special requests that were handled well by the plumber and tile layers. Only a few minor glitches. RAM
This company did my Kitchen a few years ago after a bad experience with another remodel contractor. We spent over 50K back then and Jim and his team created an unbelievable kitchen. With that being said, we did not hesitate to call on the Remodel Specialist crew to help us out again. They did an excellent job! I can not even tell that additions were made. Paint blended in with old, Crown, walls and ceiling look as if it were built with the rest of the house and the wood floors were a perfect match! Keep in mind all of these transformations were made by all in-house personnel not sub contractors!. Jim, Lori and Nic have again delivered a quality product at a fair price! I would highly recommend this company!!!!
Description of Work: Enclosed an open game room by adding a wall and door. This included framing, sheetrock, plastering and floating. Added Crown moulding.(including painting the trim with oil base paint and door). Added a built -in ironing board center. Interior painting in 4 rooms plus halls and custom matched paint for ceiling touch ups where I had some old Hurricane water spots. Installed hardwood hand scraped wood floors in 2 rooms matching previously installed hard wood flooring.

The owner of the company is Jim Godre. It is a family-owned business and his wife, son and a nephew work along with him there. The work was expensive but I don't think that they charged any more than other remodelers. My house is 26 years old and the wood siding was almost falling off. The siding was kind of peeling away and it was in really bad shape. The remodeling work looks beautiful. They do very good work and I was really happy with it. They don't use sub-contractors except for the gutters. All the other people on his crew are his own employees. He has an electrician, a plumber, a tile man and several carpenters. It is easy for him to coordinate the schedule because everybody works for him. They were here almost every day for a month. I had expected the work to take about two weeks but he had told me that it would probably take longer than I had expected. The clean up could have been a little better. There was a lot of debris while they were removing the siding and they did remove the large chunks but left a lot of small pieces of plastic and old siding and nails and tacks. I am still picking up little pieces from around the yard to this day. They did not leave any nails in my driveway. They had a metal detector and they told me that they went around the whole perimeter of the house but I am still finding nails and tacks. I had a flower bed with an herb garden and they did some partial damage to that. They were not very careful where they took the ladders and where the stuff was falling and my little herd garden got slightly damaged. One of their employees must have been a smoker because I found cigarette butts and I didn't like that. I told them that he needs to carry a can or something to put the cigarette butts in. I thought that the clean up could have been a little better and I did tell that I would be including it my report. They had cut a ground wire while they were removing the electrical boxes while doing the siding work and my cable, internet and phone service that are bundled went out and I had to call AT & T to come out and reconnect it. They came out and did that but charged me $55 in service fees which Remodel Specialists deducted from their total price. The workmanship was perfect and they do really quality work. I didn't have to go back and ask them to do anything.
Description of Work: Remodel Specialists removed and replaced all my siding. They put in Hardiplank siding. They also did bathroom remodeling. They had to gut the area around the tub, take out the shared wall between the shower head and my husband's closet that was covered with mold due to a water leak. They also had to replace a lot of wood that had rotted away. They had to take out the old tile and the tub and put in a new shower. It is all-tile with glass block. They also replaced a window and took out a garden window. They also replaced the gutters for which he used a sub-contractor.
I called remodel specialists during our process of purchasing a home in the woodlands. I looked at several companies on angie's list. We were relocating from illinois and a few items needed to be done before we moved the family in. Jim was great about coming to the house (even after a reschedule due to previous owner reschedule). He explained everything to my husband who was here and then me over the phone. The day we closed on the house we went to the store to pick out tile, carpet, granite, etc. Jim and Lori explained all our options and helped us out with color choices(we are "color challenged"). Remodel specialists does not use subcontractors. Jim placed a lock box so we did not need to worry about being home to let workmen in. I was in Illinois during the entire remodel (my husband was staying at the house). The house stayed clean during the remodel. Nic (jim's son) was in charge of the remodel also. He also talked with me several times. When we arrived with the family, the house was wonderful! The granite and backslash were spectacular. Nic came back to check on all the items with me and made sure everything was perfect. Oscar (the painter) did an outstanding job with the touch up paint and minor repairs due to the replacement of the backsplash. We will use remodel specialists for all of our remodeling needs (I am already thinking of a few projects.....)
Description of Work: We needed to have tile replaced, upstairs carpet replaced, granite counter tops installed, backsplash installed, banister fixed. The desk was raised to meet the counter top.

Asked for an estimate. They sent someone as scheduled. He was on time and professional. I received a timely and complete estimate. I chose another firm, but will certainly consider them in the future.
