 + -1 moreI am an old retired military officer and I am very picky about work being done for me. I'm pleased to say that Luke's Asphalt exceeded my expectations. They are a fourth generation company and it shows. These people know what they are doing and have learned from generations of experience that doing quality work and keeping the customer happy are the keys to success and longevity. Dallas Luke is a man of his word--he did all he promised and more. He is an outstanding young man who worked right alongside his men--ensuring every detail was correct. Every man on his crew was professional and skilled. I had a driveway in shambles when he started and two days later I had a driveway suitable for a mansion. The work he did was worth every penny I paid.
Description of Work: Put in very long asphalt driveway on a 6 acre rural residential property. The driveway was 34 years old and in shambles. Luke's removed the majority of he driveway and put down quality base material and quality asphalt. A smaller section was paved over and reshaped with top grade asphalt.

 + -1 moreI hired Luke's to re-top my mom's driveway in Shavano Park which had not been worked on in probably 30yrs. I was afraid my mother would trip walking on the uneven drive to the mailbox. Tree roots had made it very uneven. Dallas showed up with his crew and did a fantastic job. The edges of the new drive looked perfect and they made it smooth and level again. I was worried about them getting asphalt on the base of the house but they were very careful and applied the asphalt right up to the base of the house perfectly. After using Luke's for my mother's drive, I noticed one of my neighbors was using them on my street too. I would absolutely use these guys again.

 + -1 moreI checked many asphalt repair businesses to get an idea of prices and then contacted Luke's because they were local and we'd seen them in the area doing work. When I told them what I wanted they quoted $800 for a minimum job. Since we had about 70 square feet that was in that category. I told them I'd call back. Not long after hanging up they called back and said they had another job in the area and that if they had enough daylight and leftover asphalt they'd do the work for $500. We agreed to that but told them we wouldn't be home the remainder of the day and they said that was no problem and they would just bill us later if they did the work. We got home around 5 p.m. and they had not only repaired the area but placed extra asphalt in an another area at no charge. My wife went to their office to pay them the day after and no one was there so I called and told them we tried and they said not to worry about it and that they'd bill us.
Description of Work: We had a deteriorating blacktop area between our driveway and road and we had it repaired.

 + -1 moreThis job was a disaster from the get-go when we first received bids in January 2014 to when we finished on September 18. The end result turned out to be ok thanks to Luke's Asphalt for completing the asphalt repairs and to Texas Parking Lots for completing the seal coating. Our HOA members are happy with the over all job. I would not hesitate to call Luke's Asphalt or Texas Parking lots in the future.
Description of Work: Luke's Asphalt was recommended by one of our home owners who hired Luke to seal coat his driveway a year earlier and after I had contracted with another asphalt contractor who totally tried to perform work his way and not the way he bid the job. After my demands for proper performance he walked off the job. I called Dallas Luke who gave me a price to finish the asphalt repair and seal coating the entire driveway (16,000 sq feet). Dallas' crew was on the job as promised and completed the asphalting job except one high corner that the grade was high allowing water to stand. I discussed this with Dallas but he said we did not talk about this area with me when this corner was the reason we were making repairs in the first place. Billy Luke Senior fixed the mistake by digging a swell (ditch) at the high spot to allow water to drain. We accepted this fix even though it was not the correct way to fix the problem.. What I find fault with is their failure to communicate. We had planned to seal coat on the last Saturday of the following month but had to cancel due to no fault of Lukes. One of our member was leaving for a cruise and needed to have access to his condo by way of the driveway with an auto. Because Luke only seal coated on Saturdays it rained several Fridays and Saturdays. I called Dallas 5 times with no response and I called Billy Luke one time with no response. I assumed Luke was not able or did not want to do the seal coating because they would not call me back. Our HOA members were getting upset due to the lack of progress. So, after not getting a response back from Dallas or Billy Luke I contacted one of the other contractors to see if I could get the seal coating completed. On the day the other contractor was seal coating the driveways Dallas Luke finally called me back. I did not call him back. continued below:

 + -1 moreDallas was great. My wife handled most of the communication with him and he was always very professional and very respectful. We were looking for colored asphalt so we wouldn?t have to deal with the heat from blacktop. Dallas recommended laying the asphalt and then coming back over it while it was still tacky with concrete powder mix. The end result looks like concrete and doesn?t have to be resealed every few years like you have to with regular asphalt. We got the look of concrete at the price of asphalt. We were very pleased with the service and plan to have him and his team back for a couple other things we?re planning.

I am impressed, with Luke's Asphalt customer service and the quality of work they have done. They did have a little problem with the asphalt supplier, but stayed in contact with me and at the end, did an outstanding job.

 + -1 moreTwo workmen arrived at 8:00am on the scheduled morning and went right to work. They cleared the driveway of plants, flower pots and other things, cleaned the driveway and sprayed the areas to be sealed. They were finished and gone before I knew it. Later, the owner, Dallas Luke came by to inspect. He was concerned about the possibility of rain, so took his leaf blower and dried the part that was nearest the garage door,. He was afraid the rain would splash the sealer on the door and leave marks. He said he would come back and redo the whole driveway if the rain came before the driveway was totally dry. Everything was fine and the rain did not come. My driveway looks like new. The workers and Mr. Luke were very professional and were interested only in doing a first class job. I totally understood that I might have had to wait for them to do my job, as residential areas are smaller that commercial jobs, and need to be scheduled in between the larger ones and when they were in my area. This was not a problem. I am a bit surprised at the previous F rating, as I experienced nothing but A+ work from this company.
Description of Work: Inspected large circular driveway for defects/repairs, then put an asphalt seal coating over entire driveway and garage entrance. I had purchased an Angie's List coupon, which covered only a small part of my driveway. The remaining price was very reasonable.

 + -1 moreDallas Luke showed up when promised. The weather was "iffy" for rain, but after checking the forecast, Dallas went forward with the work as scheduled. Rain held up, the seal dried as planned, and it was great. Dallas and his team worked quickly and efficiently to finish the job as scheduled.

He said he would call me to schedule, but after several weeks we never heard back from him. At this point we will just go with someone else who wants to do the work.

 + -1 moreI contracted with Dallas Luke to pave my driveway in rural Blanco County. The estimate described the project as follows: "Blade, shape, and compact existing base material; prep street and concrete edges for asphalt installation; lay 2.5'' Hotmix asphalt and compact; and hand tamp all asphalt edges." The road and driveway length was approximately 700 ft. curving up the side of a hill with one switchback. The pavement was generally 10 ft. wide, with a flare at the entrance to meet the county road and a turn-around at the top before attaching to a two-car garage. The project required a day of prep, including one load of base fill, and 1 1/2 days of paving. The work was very professional, and was conducted by seven men: one operating the paving machine, two on graders and rollers, two tamping edges, one driving the hotmix truck, and one supervising. Dallas Luke, a third generation paving contractor with roots in Burnet County, now works out of Spring Branch. An affable man, he was very careful to avoid inclement weather which would have adversely affected the laying and curing of the asphalt. His preferred mode of communication is the cell phone--both voice and text, but he also responds to emails. I am very satisfied with the outcome.
