+ -1 moreHeater would come on for a few seconds then trip breaker. This was a recurring problem. Eventually it quit coming on altogether. Berkey replaced a burned-out disconnect. I found them to be a little pricey so when the same problem happened yet again I called a different provider, turned out the diconnect burned out because there were too many heating elements installed by the original installing contractor. I was dismayed that none of the previous contractors, including Berkey, had ever noticed it. Once some of the heating elements were cut off the problem never recurred. Since many other providers missed it, and since I liked everything else about Berkey, especially the professionalism, I would call them again.

+ 0 moreI would highly recommend them. He was the best among others here and as always he was excellent. Everything is great now. I have had excellent communication and cooperation with them and so far all their products have been top notch. It was a certified plumber who came out and I have met Mr. Berkey only once but the people who have come for the heating or for the plumbing have been certified people. They seemed very professional, very friendly, prompt and very respectful. If I had any questions they answer all those and no sales pitch which in turn gives me information so I can make an informed decision on things I may or may not need.
Description of Work: I use Berkeys for plumbing. I have been using them for five years now. The most recent time I used them was about a month ago in mid January. I had to fix an outdoor faucet that was not running and also had to reroute a copper line that was on the exterior of the house from the running condensation out of the house. I had a new patio put down and the condensation was causing calcium deposits when it eventually rained. So he took it and rerouted it, welded it. He also did an overall plumbing check because I have a contract with them that twice a year they come and check the plumbing as well as heating and air. It was time for my plumbing check as well my food deposer needed to be replaced.

+ 0 moreHmm where do I start, they arrived at my home around 9:45am when they were suppose to be there between 8am to 9am. I ended up having to burn a floating holiday at work because it took them over 6 hours to diagnose the problem, wait for the camera equiptment to be delivered and remove the blockage area. The total price of removing the blockage and installing a new outside facet was $512.00 dollars. To be totally honest I would have to have my head examined if I ever thought about using this company in future. They left me a quote to repair the breaks in the sewer line a total of $2500, the second quote was for replaing a toilet in my Master Bedroom total of $777.00 per toilet, that's crazy prices when a new water efficient toilet and brand name like Kohler or American Standard only costs about $200.00 so let me get this straight it costs the home owner $500 dollars for installation? No thank you, I will DIY that project.
Description of Work: Recently I had a problem with my toilets over running and sewage backing up in my bath tubs-shower. I recently moved back to the Grapevine area and didn't have time to research local companies nor join Angie's list prior to getting work done to repair the problem. I thought by selecting a large well known company like Berkey's the problem would be completed and the price would be fair. I was so wrong on the price and even though the problem was corrected I lost a day of work waiting for the contractors to arrive within the schedule and finish the work. It took longer then I expected to correct because they didn't have a camera device and had to wait on another service tech to deliver it before they could determine the cause of blockage. When the device arrived the service tech showed me the 2 breaks in my sewer line which were causing the problems. Berkey's Tech cleared the blockage issue with my sewer line and installed a new outside facet for another leakage issue and the total price was over 500 dollars which seemed about 200 dollars over what I expected including a 25 dollar discount they gave me when they noticed I wasn't pleased by the total bill. I learned selecting a large company like Berkey's will cost more then a small established local company. The breaks in the sewer line quote was estimated at over 2500 dollars, I will use Angie's list to find Contractors for secondary quotes before I even think of paying this price to repair 2 PVC pipe issue. Additionally they gave me a quote for replacing a toilet in my home the quote on that was $777 per toilet, unbelievable that is some crazy pricing it's I think between DIY and my friends I can save by doing the job myself.

+ 1 moreBerkey's Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning We had just signed up with Berkey's Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning, to do annual service checks for Fall and Spring, they also replaced a couple capacitors. Seemed to do very well, they come out twice a year for $99. They also came out before and gave me a quote on some plumbing work, and a quote on a water heater.
Description of Work: Berkey's Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning We used Berkey's Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning, to do an annual service call. It was in end of November and cost $99 for the Spring and Fall check up.

+ -1 moreI was quoted a $900+ repair and told that my unit had a major leak and there was very little freon left. I opted not to have it fixed and called a friend who sent someone he knew over to take a look. The other company said it was working properly and there was no leak and that I had plenty of freon. The unit worked beautifully all summer. I had someone come out 6 months later and they also told me there was a leak. I'm not sure whether I have a leak or not. Time will tell.
Description of Work: Berkeys came out for a prepaid service call on my A/C unit as part of a prepaid plan. It was working properly and did not need repair to my knowledge.

+ -1 moreWe purchased the service contract earlier in the year. A GREAT deal. Check into the specifics online. We had an AC that wasn't cooling. I called at 7:30 PM and actually had someone answer the phone and schedule an appointment for the next morning. They were early and called before coming out. The tech, Luis, was excellent. He was professional, knowledgeable, courteous and very customer focused. I would highly recommend!

+ -1 moreTech arrived and before he even looked at the unit, started telling me what was wrong and that it would cost $2,400.00 to fix. After he looked at the system, he charged it with freon and charged me almost $400.00. Within an hour the unit froze up and quit working. They came back out 2 times over the next week and a half and each time left telling me that they must have gotten bad parts. The last time they left, I was told that they would call with a solution. I have yet to hear back from them. Had another company come out and look at the unit and fixed the unit for a little over $1,000.
Description of Work: A/C unit was not cooling and would freeze up.

There is a certain consistency with who you have at your house becase of the low turnover rate. He came out for a check-up and spent three hours fixing the problem. He did not have to come back, someone brought him the parts. It was fixed same day. It was effiiceint and convenient for us.
Description of Work: We have a contract with them for regular check ups throughout the year. The service call was free.

He took the time to sit and explain things to my husband. He went up in the attic and checked the heating system. It has a problem as well but they have put it for the fall check. The person seemed to be very truthful and straightforward. He was very nice and not rude. He kept my house clean when he came and went out.
Description of Work: We had Berkey's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning come yesterday for a spring checkup. They have a special contract where they come twice a year during the spring and fall to check heating and air-conditioning and also if there is any plumbing problem. They did find some problems and showed my husband exactly what was wrong.

+ -1 moretook about 8 days to install complete system but we were offered a hotel room to stay while they worked out the problems. had some concerns about the system working correctly which they came out to check on promptly but didn't seem to resolve. finally this year they sent TONY out who was told to do whatever it took to fix the system. he took charge and also had a factory rep come out to help find out the problem and it was then fixed with a couple of new parts. TONY was very thorough and seemed to be very concerned and called back a week or so later just to check to make sure that all was working ok.

So they installed temporary window units in several rooms of our house to help with the heat. They were very friendly and helpful. I had no idea the window units were even an option so it surprised me when they offered at no extra charge.

He then returned to finish the shower. He also finished the remainder of the job as described above. Excellent quality, explained each step, any trade offs, and cleaned up after he was finished.
Description of Work: Install two new valves, hand shower, and stationary shower. Remove and replace Roman tub faucet. Remove and replace two lavatory faucets in bathroom and one in the kitchen. Install overhaul kits in five toilets. Purchased 10 year universal protection plan.

+ -1 moreAfter identifying the problem and location of the valve, Berkey's submitted an estimate of $500.00 to repair. The technician would NOT provide a line item estimate for the part and labor. I told my son, I would do it myself. I located the part in town at a retail cost of $31.00. I was able to replace the leaking in regulator in less than 5 minutes. Overall, time spent including travel time to get the part was approximately 45 minutes. I fully expected the company to charge between 150-200.00 for this job since Plumber do charge a premium. However quoting 500.00 to perform a 5 minute job, plus 30-45 minutes if they have to travel to get the part is highway robbery. It is my opinion that they were trying to take advantage of the situation. I also video taped the repair to demonstrate just how simple the job was to perform.
Description of Work: Berkey's was asked to repair a natural gas pressure regulator valve in my son's recently purchased home.

+ 0 moreIf I have done it, it would have been cheaper including the buying the blazing torch and other materials, and no waiting time of 50 hours or so resulting to be faster. I called for the AC tune-up, but after looking at the AC unit outside and attic, only to clear the paper derbies at the drain, the so-called "Technician" went back to the van and trying to come up list of items to squeeze me. But after I asked some technical questions, he backed down. I only make $30/hour, it is very expensive for me. As long as legal, I would rather do it by myself. Those guys have no idea, the average area houshold income is $43,000 a year. Only wealthy and not so tech savvy people rely on such a service. It is like running into the greedy car repair shop in the boom town - more likely to make as long as population keeps growing.
Description of Work: Line replacement for Faucet for refrigerator connection, including the 2 points of soldering. The technician fail to use the protection for the wood frame inside the wall leaving the black carbon markings. Before starting the work, the guy tried so hard to sell the "AC Tune-up" which lead you to more and more of their service legit or otherwise. I am a Aircraft Mechanic happened to posses the both knowledges but newly purchased and moved in house did not permit work on this on my own at the given time frame.

When they started coming out to do the semi-annual servicing, about two years ago they were very aggressive about selling me things. For example, I had a gentleman tell me that I needed to have my heating and air conditioning systems replaced immediately. I waited nine years to have them replaced and the systems had still not broken down, however they were on their last leg. I complained about them being aggressive enough that I think they decided to stop trying to be so aggressive, and now they come out peaceably to do the work. They provide excellent quality service, although their prices are a little high.
Description of Work: I have a service contract with Berkeys Plumbing. Someone from Brekeys comes out twice a year to service my furnace and air conditioner. About eighteen months go they installed a new heating and air conditioning system. I also use them for plumbing on an as needed basis.
