Description of Work: i have been a BAM member with Berkeys for approx 10 years. They come out twice a year to check plumbing, heating and air. On this occasion Jason found a gas leak in the attic. During this check he also replaced stoppers in three sinks. The total was $1,001.00. I saved $275.00 because I am a BAM member.

Description of Work: Was told needed to replace an A/C unit last May. Replaced it and had it serviced in May of this year. (20212) Less than a month later had water draining out of the weep holes outside that are designed to drain any drainage pan overfill on unit. Tech. guy said drainage pan wasn't hooked up correctly to the a/c unit (even though it was just serviced for a spring tune-up less than a month previously) and in his attempt to connect it correclty, there for allowing it to drain properly he lost comtrol of drain pan and gallons of water came pouring through our bedroom ceiling. Onto new carpeting that had been installed just 3 weeks ago. Had to cut out dry wall, put up new dry wall, paint, lift up carpeting, remove water from carpeting and reinstall carpeting. Whild all this was happening with the HVAC tech I had a Berkey's plumber in an upstair's bedroom fixing a bath tub/shower leak that he did't fix at all the first time he was out a few days earlier. (He came, he left, he billed me and it was still leaking water into our garage ceiling below the bedroom) So I had 2 Berkey's techs working in my house or a better description would be destroying my house! Finally got all that resolved and a couple of weeks later our tankless hot water heater went out or so we thought. Didn't have any hot water anyway. Called Berkey's and was told itr would be 3 days before they could come out. It was the beginning of June (2012) and was told any non emergency non A/C related isssues were taking longer to get to. And I have a BAM service contract with them. Which doesn't really help in getting serviced sooner. I ended up using another plumber who came right away and it ended up being an electrical problem with the tankless hot water heater and he called an electrical who also came right away and fixed it quickly and for less than what I expected, having been used to Berkey's cost. Soo... we have found ourselved a new plumber and electrican and will not being using Berkey's again. By the way, our new plumber and electrican we found from Angie's list.

Description of Work: Added gas line branch from attic to natural gas grill on patio. Pulled line through attic and created valve access to gas line for grill.

Description of Work: We use Southwest A/C & Plumbing for air conditioning. The last time we used them was for maintenance of our air conditioning unit. We have been using them since they installed the unit in our house probably 13 years ago.

Description of Work: We continue to use Berkey's even though they are not the least expensive. This is because they are prompt, reliable, and wililng to work with us to find something that does fit within our budget constraints. We like Berkey's so much that this particular "service date" was actually for them to come examine the HVAC units at a home that we were considering purchasing and to give us their honest opinion. They did so and we were able to make our ultimate decision with confidence. They gave us a general estimate on the cost to replace the physical units as well as the cost to repair some of the bad duct work that had been previously performed by the HVAC installer (not Berkeys). We are very happy with their service plan and will use them in our new house going forward as well.

Description of Work: UPDATED REVIEW: 7/5/12 - Berkeys came to our house and installed soffit vents and attic insulation at no cost due to a miscommunication with a manager on a prior visit (see details below). Berkeys went far above and beyond any expectations to bring resolution to this miscommunication. Both of the installation teams ensured the work was done at the highest standard. They were on-time, extremely professional, well spoken, and very personable. Not only has this experience restored our belief in Berkeys and the credibility of their company, but we will absolutely be contacting them in the future as additional needs arise. People make mistakes, but Berkeys has proven to us that they truly are a company with integrity. Although we originally gave Berkeys an "F" on Angie's List, we now wholeheartedly give them an "A". 7/2/12 - Berkeys has contacted us regarding a resolution of our attic ventilation needs. Thus far, we are very happy with their attempts to make it right. I will post an amended review after completion of their proposed work. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 6/29/12 - We contacted Berkeys to give us an estimate for soffit venting and attic insulation. They arrived within the window and the gentleman was very thorough and professional. Of the hour he spent at our house, 90% of that was spent assessing the soffit situation and 10% on insulation. He went to his car to calculate a quote and was gone a very long time. He returned and told us that they do not do soffit vents, and he was on the phone with his manager to confirm that they won't do them. In the past, he has done these vents for Berkeys, but even though their website states "Berkeys recommends non-restricted soffit vents and solar-powered attic fans", they clearly don't actually do soffit vents.

Description of Work: Replaced complete AC system. For $8K I would have thought that they could have put in a new thermostat, so I guess I'll have to do that myself.

Description of Work: They did a plumbing estimate for me. They came out to check on my bathroom/ shower clog. They gave me several options.

Description of Work: Problem with 2 AC units, one always seemed underpowered (Master bedroom) the other was totally dead and I suspected a freon leak. (2 or 3 service call in 5 years)

Description of Work: Had a gas leak out by the pool heater/equipment. Had Berkey's test for line leaks and fix problem.

Description of Work: I have used Berkey's on numerous jobs in the past 10 years. Heating, A/C, plumbing. They have always been very responsive and they do excellent work. My only complaint is that they are more expensive than others. I am willing to pay a little more for the excellent service and reliability.
