The main thing that irked me was that they knocked out a wall in the room behind my bathtub in order to get to the pipe only to find out that the pipe wasn't there and then they had to knock out the tile in the bathroom itself over the faucet in order to reach the pipe so I ended up with few holes in my wall which they did not fix so I had to call the tile guy. They did fix the problem but they tore out more than they fixed. I would not recommend them. They did respond and showed up on time.

Description of Work: Jerry searched and found the source of my leak which appeared to me to be a slab leak. I was relieved to know it was a pinhole leak in my in-line water filter hose to the refridgerator. Sounds like a simple enough leak to spot, but I assure you it was not. The label was still wrapped around this section of hose with the pinhole. All the water slowly drained into/under the wall. It came up in the entry to my master bedroom. At first I thought one of my animals had peed there. Nope. I was charged for a hose replacement and service charge and I had an outdoor faucet replaced. Thank you Jerry.

+ -1 moreI bought the BAM! service plan, so Berekey's comes out every season to check the Heating or A/C. I had used other services, and was never as satisfied as I am with the service Berkey's providdes. I know I pay a little more, but I do not feel they have ever mislead me on any repairs.
Description of Work: Berkeys came out and preformed a check up on both my upper and lower units. I apppreciate their thoroughness, how they explain what they are looking for and their cleanliness. They hanged out my air filters on this visit as well.

+ 0 moreThe technician was prompt and performed services on 3 different issues. He gave me the estimate and offered the BAM plan. It actually saved me money to buy the plan since we were having so many repairs. He was very courteous and professional. The only negative is that I had to call them to come back out because we no longer had hot water in our shower after they fixed it. But they were quick in getting the technician to come out the next day and fix the issue.
Description of Work: Shower nozzle fixed, drain unclogged, and toilet rebuild.

+ 0 moreI reviewed Angie's List for plumbers and found Berkey's had a good rating and also included a $99 off coupon, so I called about 10 am, and there was an appointment that day for service between noon and 5 pm. About 2:30 a rep called and said the plumber was on his way, and he arrived by 3 pm. Jorge promptly replaced the leaking flex pipe within about 45 minutes. Acceptable price, especially with the $99 off coupon (thanks Angie!), very professional, responsive and quick. Jorge also replaced the shut off valve for the same price as quoted for the flex pipe replacement because mine had broken and the water would not shut off properly. Overall GREAT WORK!

+ -1 moreThey offered a yearly plan to come and inspect the toilet. However, the person who came out immediatley said there was a bigger issue and that we needed to do a job that was $3,000. We wanted to get a second opinion and found out that a vac ring was causing the leak and the first plumber could have truly fixed it. They started to scare us into feeling like we needed more work and said we would need to call another company to do the job that required large equipment and drilling. I just didn't feel like I could trust them. Overall, it was not a good experience.

+ 1 moreI've been a member of Berkey's member group BAM for years. That allows me free air conditioner and furnace tune-ups and a small discount on other services. They were prompt and courteous and knowledgeable. Berkey's can be on the higher end of pricing, but I know I'm going to get good quality service.
Description of Work: This situation was for clearing my guest bathroom sink and tub drains.The service guy actually changed out the trap pipe because my 1950's home has metal pipes and it was wearing out. I was not charge for it and it he didn't have the right size in the truck so he went out got it and came back.

+ 0 moreThe tech ( hope this is the right term as I am sure he is a licensed plumber) arrived within 90 minutes and was gone within another 90 minutes. He determined the gas valve was defective and had it replace, the hot water heater flushed within 3 hours from initial call to departing with the job complete.
Description of Work: The service tech came in and looked at the hot water heater and determined that the gas valve was defective and needed to be replaced.

+ 0 moreVery professional from start to finish. I know I'm paying a premium with Berkey's and could get things done for less. But Raul was the only one of three people who have looked at my AC over the last two years to point out that the wiring on the blower was reversed for Heat and AC. He corrected the problem to run our heat at a lower speed and AC at high speed. The heat does seem to be more efficient now. We'll see about the AC in the coming year. Job was done well, communication was excellent and I would definitely use Berkey's again.
Description of Work: Replaced blower motor on Furnance/AC system. Installed hard pipe for gas line to replace flex pipe where gas line enters furnace on 2 units.

+ -1 moreThis company was very professional and what a surprise that they could see me on Christmas Eve. I appreciate their help. We will not know for weeks if he has resolved our issue. We discovered the yard on the entire left side of our house about 1/2 back all the way to the alley had water sitting on the group surface. Unable to determine the exact source of the leak due to the type plumbing material used (not metallic or PVC) he said they could not determine the exact cause. He suggested shutting off the valve at the meter for my sprinkler system and replacing the handle on the hose coming out of the side of the house as you could see it had a slow drip. He said this may not resolve my issue and to wait a couple of weeks and if it hadn't dried up to contact them again. He also said if it appeared to still be leaking to contact them.
Description of Work: (Their terms) Replaced Standard Hose Bibb w/Vacuum Breaker. (My terms) Replaced the handle on an exterior hose and shut off the valve to my sprinkler system.

+ -1 moreour heater went out the day before Christmas. The house dropped to 64 degrees and was miserable. We called Berkey's first thing in the morning, and Chris came out as soon as he could. He investigated the problem and found out that a motor had burned out. Unfortunately with the holiday the warehouse was closed, but he promised to investigate as soon as the warehouse was open again. The day after Christmas he called first thing in the morning to let us know the motor had been located. He made sure we were the first call of the day and repaired it and warmed our house up wonderfully. He explained all of our options throughout the whole process and kept posted on the progress. We will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Our heater stopped working without warning. Chris from Berkey's came out and investigated. He determined that the motor that pulls exhaust out of the furnace died. He found the right replacement motor and got our house warm again.

+ 1 moreI purchased thier 1 year service/maintenance package and have had this company to my home on multiple occurances over the last year. Each time, the serviceman who comes to my home is helpful, informative (as I ask my many questions learning about what he is doing as well as overall home maintanace), extremely professional and knowledgeable. Ive endured a number of plumbing issues duirng my first year in my home and each time it was fairly quick turnaround to have them out to my home, diagnose the problem and timely repair. After dealing with 3 different plumbing services to figure out the problem, Berkey's was able to help find a resolution. While they are a little higher than most, it is well worth it for the peace of mind that it is done right the first time.

+ 0 moreWas given a 5 hour window for installation time, 12 to 5. Not crazy about the large time window as apposed to a fixed time, but, they were here about 2 PM. Three workers were done about 3:30. Lead installer explained what was done, and a brief explanation of the units functions and how the household water pressure would react as a result of installation. Job done in efficient workmanlike manner, with minimal interruption to the household. Again I think they are high priced, but, they have always been professional, and work has been very good. They have provided me with service for over 15 years, and I do not remember ever having any complaints.
Description of Work: When getting normal semi-annual inspection of my heating system I noted in the file my water heater was on it's 17th. year, the last one I had failed on the 18th. year, so figured I better replace it soon. I contacted about four companies for estimates and reviewed equipment that was quoted on line. Berkeys was the high estimate, but, carried the longest warrantied equipment, 12 year Rheem, which was a big factor for me. Only one other of the contactors I contacted offered the Rheem and I had no experience with them, he was about $200 cheaper, but, I knew the quality of work Berkeys had provided me in the past, so stayed with them. The gas unit was in a garage location in a closet about a foot above the floor. The plywood base needed reinforcement or replacement also. The city now required inspection and installation of carbon monoxide detectors by bedrooms, (for any gas appliance I believe), These were included in the quote for at $144. I picked one up for $25. at Lowe's and installed it myself, which passed inspection. Also, the old tank was installed by Berkeys, and it had sticker on the side stating a $20 refund would be paid on the return of the old tank, when I mentioned it several times, the estimator and the installers just chuckled, but, I never did get the $20 refund or credit. May have been funny to them, but, if the sticker said something I felt it should have been credited or refunded the amount. They also gave me estimates for an 8 yr. unit and a tankless system. I did not feel I would be around for the 15 to 20 year pay back on the tankless, (according to Consumer Reports) and wanted the longer warranted equipment. The tankless system would have been about $2,700 more than my traditional unit.

+ -1 moreThey came out within an hour of my calling in the problem with our old unit, and in about 45 minutes it was obvious the unit was not worth fixing. We discussed our options, and they quoted 3 different options. They arrived with an installation team about 11:30am, and they worked until 7:45pm that same day to get the unit installed, charged, and tested. They had there install inspector follow up a week later to inspect the work of the installation team, and all looked good. City code inspector came out a week later to close out installation permit pulled by Berkey's. Green tag was given, and we are very happy with the work they did, and how comfortable the house is too. The co unit runs very quietly compared to the old Lennox, but it is quite large.
Description of Work: Berkeys removed our 2001 Lennox heating & A/C system, and replaced it with 16 SEER American Standard unit + matched furnace, intake plenum, exhaust plenum, evaporator coil, & Honeywell whole house air filter. Replaced old concrete pad with composite pad for new condenser unit, and changed out cut off switch for condenser. The old unit had it's condenser unit fan motor fail, and the evaporator coil had some pin-hole leaks so we were losing freon. Old unit was 12 SEER and inefficient.

+ -1 moreEXCELLENT, FAIR PRICES. NOT ONLY DID THEY FIND THE LEAK BUT THEY HAVE THE LATEST TOOL. WE WERE INCHES WAY FROM THE PIPE BURSTING COMPLETELY AND HAVING GUSHER IN OUR YARD AND AT THE HOUSE. WE ARE LUCK AND IT IS ALL DUE TO THE QUICK DETECTION BY BERKLEY. 99 SERVICE PLAN IS WELL WORTH MONEY. WE WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOW HOW BACK THE LEAK WAS.
Description of Work: NOTICED I HAD A LEAK BY MY MAIN SHUT OFF VALUE. SEND THE REQUEST AT 5:30 AM THEY CALLED WHEN THEY OPENED. MELISSA THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO GET APPOINTMENT SET UP. THE PLUMBER CALLED WITHIN SECONDS AFTER THE DISPATCH. THIS IS AMAZING SERVICE. THE PLUMBER WAS OUT IN 20 MINUTES, WHICH IS RECORD TIME FROM WHERE WE LIVING. TOOK HIM 20 MINUTES TO FIND THE LEAK IN THE FRONT YARD. KEEP ME IN THE LOOP ON EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS.

I had signed up for Berkey's BAM maintenance plan and had my plumbing inspection which uncovered quite a few things that my home inspector did not mention before I purchased my home. The plumber also replaced an outdoor faucet that would not turn off. The work involved removing masonry and replacing the faucet and part of the line behind the exterior brick (it was a no-freeze faucet that did not have the nicer quick-release joint, so some light welding was involved after cutting the pipe to replace the faucet.) The brickwork looks perfect after installation of the new faucet; you would never know any work had been done. Their prices aren't the cheapest but they do excellent work in a timely manner. I'm a very satisfied customer.
