Absolutely horrible company. The doors are pretty to look at but are not functional. We have been waiting for months for them to fix a folding glass door that will not shut or lock securely. They continue to hound us for final payment even though their lead installer has told them the door is faulty and needs to be replaced. They are a little cheaper than the next guy but you get what you pay for. Horrible company to do business with. Trust me when I say, find someone else to do your iron doors!

Ordered the door in August last year. Still trying to get it right. Door was not installed until December. Poorly installed, missing insulation, not caulked. Worst part, the transom was not measured correctly and had to be remade. The left the whole covered with a piece of black plywood, no insulation, thru the winter. Been waiting since December and they finally showed up today to install it, BUT THE FORGOT THE GLASS???? So still not finished, no clue when it will be.

Terrible. The broke the brick outside and the tile inside. The door is crooked. My lights by the door do not work because of how they installed the door. They don’t return calls and Tony makes misrepresentations. Told me my door was crooked because my foundation shifted. I just bought my house and no foundation issues. He made this up without coming to look at the work to justify the door being installed crooked. Liars and thieves.

Both times I have called for service, I received the same run-around. A couple years ago, they passed me from person to person but would never call me back. I had to call at least 6 times to get the "field service person" to "get on his schedule" only to hear from him that I have to prepay for this service with someone else??!! Then I have to speak with one of the original persons I spoke with. Who I can't get ahold of anymore. This latest time (yesterday 10/8/2015) it was the worst. They said to me: "Oh, we can only hear every-other word you're saying, we're having problems with our phone, let us go to another phone and we'll call you right back, what is your number"? They never called back. I called back 3 times and they said the same thing when they found out who I was and why I was calling. They didn't want to service my door. They don't want to service the doors! Why don't they just say: If you're not buying a door, WE DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO YOU, that would save me so much time and aggrevation. I am going to another Company and ask them to service this door I purchased from this San Marcos Doors because anyone who treats their customers like this should not have my business. How many times do I have to be lied to and abused to learn that these people do not want to service this door they sold me!!
Description of Work: We had a front door installed a few years ago. overall, the salesman was good and we really like the door (otherwise we wouldn't have paid as much as we did), however, once it was installed and they left, you can forget about EVER having them come back to readily help with any service on the door. Since it is iron and glass, things happen. It gets chips and there are squeeks, now the weather stripping under the door is coming off, however, their customer service may be the poorest in San Antonio I've found so far.

The worst company i have ever dealt with in regards to customer service. The overall quality of materiial is excellent. We had our door replaced with no problem except they were suppose to provide a srceen for the window. It has been three months and still no screen despite numerous calls. When putting in the railing the workers would not show at the scheduled time. Once they said they were leaving for lunch and would be right back. We actually gave them lunch money and they did not return. We have called the office several times and they, Bryant, has been very rude. It seems like no one is in charge of the schedule and if you do not call them they will not show. For the amount of money paid ypumwould think they would treat the customer better. We still owe money on the project and will not pay until finished, which at this rate could be a few years.

Noe came out and walked through some ideas with me on my vision for the door. Ultimately created a CAD drawing for me of the gate prior to construction. Gate was ready early and they waited several weeks for me to give them the all clear to install (was waiting on cabinetry before they could install the gate). The quality was incredible. I did not realize the gate would be so heavy and sturdy and it was a PERFECT fit in the unique space. Installation went great and all around it was fantastic.

Description of Work: we have used San Marcos Iron Doors on our previous 2 homes and are currently working with them for our new ranch. Our first home in 2005 we purchased a front entry door with our custom family initials and design, a huge transom above front door, a huge magnificent 5'x3' chandelier,a huge open stairway with railings and 3 additional exterior doors. This home was and still is the most beautiful home in the neighborhood, we also referred 8 other families in that neighborhood to SMID and they also purchased doors. In 2009 we purchased our second home. Once again we called San Marcos Iron Doors and we purchased another huge custom design front entry door, 3 Custom chandeliers, 4 exterior doors, as well as travertine flooring and custom cantera columns and fireplaces inside and in the outdoor living area around the pool. Now we have have purchased our 3rd home, a ranch, and who else would i call? my friends over at San Marcos Iron Doors. I am currently working with the design team on some new ideas for modern industrial doors and railings and a big double entry gate.

I have had such amazing help and service with the design team at San Marcos Iron Doors. They know me so well now and when i come in with new ideas they always help me create something unique and beautiful. Every time we have had an installation they did a wonderful job and were very considerate of my time and home. And always left me with a beautiful finished product. Their order and design confirmation and delivery times are always in a timely manner, schedualing and even when i occasionally add something at the last min they work hard to get all the products installed and delivered in a timely manner. thank you so much to all the great employees at the San Marcos team. Your the Best in the Buisiness. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my ideas, visions or dreams but you guys! :D
Description of Work: we have been doing business with San Marcos Iron doors since 2005. In our first home we had 3 exterior doors, a huge transome, an open staircase and railings, and a huge 5'x3' chandelier installed. Our home, which we still own and use as a rental now, was and is the most stunning home in the neighborhood. we were the first in our neighborhood to install a wrought iron door, and the stunning chandelier you could see through the huge transome above the front entrance. After that we refered San Marcos Iron Doors and they installed 13+ doors to other families in our neighborhood. In 2008 we purchased our second home, and I knew immediately who i needed to call. San Marcos Iron Doors came out and we did a huge remodel. They installed another huge entry way door, 5 additional exterior doors, Travertine floors throughout, Cantera Columns and fireplaces inside and also around the pool area, and two gates outside. We are now on our 3rd, home which is a huge ranch. I am currently working with the design team to create new custom modern industrial style doors, railings, light fixtures and a huge double entry gate to the ranch. And im sure more stuff in the near future.

On April 10, 2013, we contracted with San Marcos Iron Door to build and install 3 doors; front door, back door and music room doors. The promise was delivery and install in 6 weeks. On June 18, I started contacting our sales person asking about an installation date. He said the doors were in and were being painted. They just needed one more week. On June 25, I called my sales person, left message, no return call On June 26, I called my sales person, left message, no return call On June 27, I called my sales person, left message, no return call, but Valerie from San Marcos Iron Door did call me to schedule installation. Seems they are so busy, they can't start the installation until July 24, 2013. On July 23, 2013, we were informed the wrong glass was ordered for our interior doors. We wanted clear, but Flemish was ordered and scheduled to be installed. Our verbal agreement with Noe, our salesperson, was that he would install the Flemish glass, order the clear for us and when the clear came in, he would swap out the pieces of glass. Install scheduled from July 24-26. On Friday, July 26, 2013, installation still wasn't completed. We gave the sales man a list of things that still needed to be completed. The doors were in and bolted into place, but no security system wiring done, no painting, no caulking, no baseboards, no backdoor lock, among other things on the list. We had a business trip and told San Marcos Iron Door that they could schedule the crew to come back on Thursday August 1, 2013. The salesman is the only one that shows up on August 1, 2013. All he does is have us go over the list again. Not only do we have a big punch list of unfinished work, but we show him the damage to the wood floor in the music room and torn wallpaper in the kitchen. I call the salesperson every day after to get an installation date and time. If he answers the phone, I just get excuses. Takes them until August 15th to come back out to restart the installation on the doors. Two new guys that I have never seen before come out to work on the doors. They get here at 10:00am, leave at 5:00pm. The next morning, August 16th, I realize my engagement ring that I've been wearing for 20 years and a Rolex watch that I've been wearing for 15 years are missing. We call the police and file a report. We contact San Marcos Iron Door. The company said that they talked to the guys and the guys said that they didn't take it. Liz from San Marcos Iron Door accused me of filing a false police report to get out of paying my balance with them. She stated that they would send another crew out to complete the work. We refused to let them send out more workers in fear of losing more valuables. That same morning, Friday, August 16th, we also noticed that they had opened a box that had been delivered from Amazon. But, they obviously weren't smart enough to know what was in the box, because they left it, but turned the box upside down so we wouldn't see that the box had been opened. My husband and I both were in the house all day. We moved around upstairs and downstairs. We felt like we had covered them pretty well. But, these two guys has so much skill at the cover up and made so much noise with their hammering, sawing, drilling and cutting that it only took them a second to go into my bedroom and steal my engagement and Rolex watch. It is very obvious to us that the two installers are accomplished at keeping the customer distracted while they take a visual inventory of valuables and then figure out how to take it. When they did not come back the next day, and did not call, we were convinced that we were not going to have an opportunity to recover our lost property.

Response from San Marcos Iron Doors
[removed member name] first approach to San Marcos Iron Doors was on April 8th 2013 via the internet requesting a quote for replacing her front door. She was contacted that same day and an appointment was setup for our sales representative to visit her at her home the following day, which was Wednesday April 9th at 2:00 pm. During the visit, details like the fabrication lead time of 6 to 8 weeks from the time she signed the CAD drawings and payment terms where discussed for her entry door. After learning how the process worked the customer decided to get two additional doors made for her home. The following morning Thursday April 10th, the formal invoice with a full breakdown of what was included for her project was e-mailed to her with a request to sign and return to our office to continue the process; this went un-answered by the [removed member name]. On April 16th, the customer was contacted once again via phone to let her know that we had e-mailed her the CAD drawings for her review and approval and that we still needed to get the invoice signed; this remained unanswered. We finally received the signed CAD Drawings back on April 18th but the signed invoice still have not been sent to us to be able to start the manufacturing process. Our company procedure requires first and foremost receiving all documents with drawing and dollar amount signed and approved by the customer, these documents are of high importance to us, in order to avoid any possible misunderstandings or manufacturing errors. After not receiving any response from the [removed member name], and in good faith, our CEO approved and decided to proceed with the fabrication of the doors on April 30th even when no signed invoice had been submitted to San Marcos Iron Doors. After 7 weeks of handcrafted fabrication, all the 3 units were ready for inspection at our facility, we contacted the customer on June 27th to setup an installation date and collect on the 40% needed to confirm her installation as previously stated on our formal invoice and several communication venues with the [removed member name]. The customer at this point refused to make any additional payments stating that she will wait until they inspected the doors. We normally welcome any inspections before installation to make sure all the agreed colors and design are completed correctly, and these inspections are done in our San Marcos Iron doors warehouse. The [removed member name] once again refused to visit our installations to inspect the doors and wanted us to bring the doors for inspections the date of the installation stating she will pay the amount due at their site upon arrival of our installation crew which also was not done by the [removed member name] as promised, and her comments were that she needed to wait for her husband to arrive but that for sure we will receive payment later on that same day. On a second leap of faith and with an effort to expedite the process having our crews on site we started the demolition and removal of all of her doors installing 2 of the doors and preparing the third one for the following day. After that first day we asked once again for payment and the [removed member name] didn’t do what they promised us. We decided to continue the installation the following day for the third door hoping that payment was going to be made by the [removed member name]; we delivered as promised and completed the entire project in 2 days with minor details that are normal for a remodel project of such magnitude and complexity. We want to reiterate that the customer’s home was never left unsecured and all doors were fully operational. After all three doors were installed; our installation crew was going to return on the following day to do all the minor items only to be re-scheduled by the [removed member name] since they were going to be out of town. On July 31st our sales representative received a call from the customer requesting the crew to be on site the following morning to do the pending touchups needed. In an effort to minimize the time spent on site by our crews and to ensure that all minor items where addressed to the customers’ full satisfaction it was proposed that the sales representative would walk the site with the customer to create a punch list. This is a common practice in the construction business and it is a list of items pending to be done to ensure that the crews know exactly what points must be addressed to achieve our client’s satisfaction. The customer agreed to walk the site and have the crews return on August 15th with a punch list on hand. Only after all the items on the final punch list agreed by the customer where addressed and resolved by our experienced installation crews is that we received a call from the customer stating that items had been stolen from her residence. To this date and with a 25 year track record of experience, and with over 3,000 remodels previously done in prestigious homes we have never had a theft complaint on any of our installation crews. San Marcos Iron Doors at the time conducted a thorough internal investigation on the crew members assigned to this project and did not find any indications that leads us to believe that they were involved in any wrongdoings. At this point we continue to try to get payment for the remaining 50% for which the [removed member name] has not been responding to our requests. At San Marcos Iron Doors we are a family owned business that have been successful by doing customers right and we are direct suppliers to most of the acclaimed custom home builders in our area, we have thousands of referral’s and we are a solid company that stand behind our products and services. At this point we feel that we have been wrongfully threated by the [removed member name] and taking advantage of our goodwill. The [removed member name] continue to have our 3 beautiful handcrafted doors for only 50% of the agreed price, nevertheless the impact this has in our family business is immense, affecting our artisans and several families involved in the process of fabricating this Handmade Doors. We, as faith based organization, believe that GOD is always in control of our lives, HE will continue to guide us will take care of our business, associates and family members and customers, we pray for the [removed member name] realization of their actions and for them to pay us for the services we provided them with. “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2) Rest assured that we have a clear conscience and be confident that we were not involved in the [removed member name] accusations of stealing. We wish and hope the best for the [removed member name], for them to find peace and for GOD to continue to pour blessing upon them; as we will continue to make beautiful doors for our clients, while providing excellent customer service and remaining # 1 in craftsmanship and quality as well. At this point we continue to try to get payment for the remaining 50% for which the Schreves has not been responding to our requests. At San Marcos Iron Doors we are a family owned business that have been successful by doing customers right and we are direct suppliers to most of the acclaimed custom home builders in our area, we have thousands of referral’s and we are a solid company that stand behind our products and services. At this point we feel that we have been wrongfully threated by the [member name removed] and taking advantage of our goodwill. The [member name removed] continue to have our 3 beautiful handcrafted doors for only 50% of the agreed price, nevertheless the impact this has in our family business is immense, affecting our artisans and several families involved in the process of fabricating this Handmade Doors. We, as faith based organization, believe that GOD is always in control of our lives, HE will continue to guide us will take care of our business, associates and family members and customers, we pray for the Schreves realization of their actions and for them to pay us for the services we provided them with. “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2) Rest assured that we have a clear conscience and be confident that we were not involved in the [member name removed] accusations of stealing. We wish and hope the best for the [member name removed], for them to find peace and for GOD to continue to pour blessing upon them; as we will continue to make beautiful doors for our clients, while providing excellent customer service and remaining # 1 in craftsmanship and quality as well. Their pricing was good, not low and not high, they were right in the middle range. The guy was very friendly. The quality of work was good. The only thing I didn't like was that the whole crew all spoke Spanish, only the main guy spoke English.
