tA/C went out in the house. I received a quote from one company and decided to get a second quote since we were talking over $6,000. Called at 0730 and was told they would get someone out there by 1100 and they would call before arrival. I left my work number and cell number. At 1030 I called and asked for a status and was told that the technician was finishing up and would be leaving for my address soon. I told the representative on the phone to ensure they call my cell number since I was leaving my office. She said she would annotate that. At 1130 I called and asked for a status since I have not heard anything from the technician. I was told he was held up at the job and finishing up soon. I again told the representative to ensure they call my cell number. 1230 comes and I again called to ask for a status. I was told that the technician was running late and that the next available technician will be sent to my address. 1300 comes and I called AGAIN for a status since it is now 2 hours past my scheduled time. The representative on the phone told me that she called my office and left a message and the cell phone number she called said "service unavailable". I asked if she tried the number again and she stated "they are too busy for call numbers back and move on". I was very upset by this comment since I have made every effort to ensure I could be reached. I asked to speak with the manager and she stated "there are a few managers". I then asked her "could I speak to at least one of them?" I spoke with a manager and told the above situation and stated I was not impressed with the way everything has played out and the comments made by the representative. He apologized and said he would call me back in just a few minutes to see if he could get the next technician out. When he called back he said that a technician would be finishing up in 10-15 minutes and be heading to my address. I asked if he was in the local area and he stated he was on the other side of town (45 minute drive). At this point I was just fed up with the wasted time and the complete lack if interest in a potential customer. I figured I would be treated better for the amount of money I was going to be spending. I have decided to go with the first company since they have bent over backwards to ensure I was happy...even spoke directly to the owner on a few occasions!

We had a leak in a pipe in our front yard, my husband dug up the pipe and located the source of the leak. We had to turn off the water to our house. After calling several plumbers that couldn't come out for at least a day we called John Wayne. They have a price ladder for the service call based on how fast you want them to come out. We paid for the highest priority which was about two hours before the plumber got here. Since my husband had already located the problem the plumber basically said he could fix it and gave us a quote for the repair. Not only did we paid for the repair the cost of the service call was separate. I feel as though John Wayne takes advantage of emergency situations by price gouging on the service call. Since we were in a desperate situation we had the repair done. We will not use them in the future.

School bus ran over our water line in the morning and busted the pipe. We didn't find out until around 2p.m. Thankfully a neighbor turned the water off at the main. The tech was supposed to come around 5 but the office called and postponed 2 times. I was thankful that they kept me in the loop on the time frames. The tech arrived around 8-8:30pm but got the job taken care of before 9:30 and was very professional. It was a little pricy but they were the only company who even tried to accommodate me. All others said they were booked up or could see what they could do the next day. Being able to shower before bed and flush toilets are a high priority. Thank you John Wayne!

I purchased a maintenance plan in May 2014 that pre-paid and summer and winter inspection. The tech showed up on time and completed the work in a professional manner. On my 17yr old system they found a weak blower motor running capacitor and a worn flame senor. They provided me options to replace these items and I chose the "basic" options. The other where just not realistic. I thinking the parts for a 5 MFD capacitor maybe $40 and $20 for a flame sensor. I elected to pay the price because i didn't want to mess with it, i would not do it again. i would think more reasonable price would have been $200 (It literally only took the tech 10 minutes to replace the parts).

This was for a vibration in our intake for the a/c and heating unit. Jacob McKinnis came out and was very thorough, professional and extremely well mannered. I appreciated when he adjusted whatever it was and then went up in the attic to double check nothing else was looming. I have used this company 3 times for a/c repairs and cant say enough good things about them. I would highly recommend this company and especially Jacob!

Called Jon Wayne Air Friday afternoon to arrange for them to fix our downstairs heating system. We agreed that they would come out Saturday morning between 8am & 12 noon. They were to call 30 minutes before arrival so that we could get our animals secured, etc. We never heard from them. No calls, nothing. At 1210pm I went on their web site and left the a messages essentially telling them that they were fired. They then called around 12:31 Pm telling my wife that they tried calling but the call went straight to voice mail. Of course they did not leave a message. There was & is nothing wrong with our phone. No one was using it all morning. It also has two levels of voice mail just incase we are on the phone if someone calls. We show no "missed Calls" for the time in question. This was just a attempt to put the blame on us instead of them. If this is a sample of their customer service I don't want anything to do with them. I will stay cold until I find a company that will treat me as a true customer and value my time as much as their own.

They are not very knowledgeable. They are crooks. They told us something was wrong with the AC and they wanted to replace it. We found another company that did another thorough inspection and said nothing was wrong with it. It was horrible service and they even messed up our AC more than it was already. Their punctuality was good.

Jon Wayne Heating and Air is expensive, but since I had used them two years ago for replacing the HVAC in the other part of the house, I knew this already. I used to be a homebuilder and I know good work when I see it. I have never seen better workmanship and professionalism in an HVAC contractor. The crew(s) are well trained and they do a great job in installation and cleanup. We agreed on a price for the work to be performed at 6pm on Thursday, and they showed up at 8am the next morning. Yes, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. They are worth it.

We had a leak on a Saturday night and Jon Wayne came out on Sunday to assess the leak. They were not able to fix it on Sunday due to lack of availability of parts but fixed it on Monday. Hank O did a professional and expert fix. He was very knowledgable and took a lot of time to explain things to us and options. He is very personable and a true professional.

I will never use John Wayne for anything. I feel that the manager was just trying to appease me when I called and never really addressed my issues. I have not received a phone call back after leaving two messages and I don't expect to. I do believe that I had to replace my unit sooner since proper service and diagnosis was not done by John Wayne.
Description of Work: I had opted into the "rescue club" for bi-annual check-ups for my HVAC a little over one year ago. The first visit included a service in the spring and it lasted all of ten minutes. I was told that everything is working as it should, but I had some "mild growth" on the coils. Since I wasn't offered anything else, I assumed that the mild growth was common and that all was OK. The next visit was in the winter and I was told that my thermostat had been installed wrong and that I was using my "emergency heat" and not my heat pump. This was surprising to me as the last technician told me that everything was working properly, but how could any one determine that in just ten minutes? The tech then installed my thermostat properly and told me about the growth. He stated that with my type of coils (copper) they could not be removed to be clean, but had to be replaced. I was then shown options on the tech's iPad of the cost associated with replacing the coils all the way to replacing the whole system, with varying options in between. I asked him why all of a sudden I need to replace the coils and he told me that sometimes they are just not quality materials used. I believed them as there were issues with my builder in terms of quality. I asked him for the options in writing and he stated that he would email them to me, which never happened. I did call to speak with a manager about my feelings with the service that I had been provided. He didn't offer much of a solution, but did give me one more tune up. He assured me that his best guy would come out and show me real service. We set an appointment and on the day I was called in the middle of my time window and was told that I had to be rescheduled due to an emergency. I rescheduled. The day came for my next appointment and they didn't come during the window that I was provided so I called. I was told that a tech called me earlier and did not come out because they could not reach me on the phone. This was not true as my call phone did not show any missed calls and it had not rang all day. We once again rescheduled. I should add that I only have two days off in a week and I have now lost two full days due to waiting. The third time I was scheduled, they did come out, but the tech told me how he had to drive all of the way from San Antonio f and got pulled from another job to be at my house. He acted as though it was my fault and was kind of short with me. This tech told me that my whole system needed to be replaced. I was told that the freon in my system was illegal and that he could not add any freon (when I signed up for the rescue club, I was told that adding freon as needed was part of the service). I was also told that my coil had a "fracture fault" and was leaking. He said that my coils are ruined and told me that I had poor filtration and that my until was a "cheap builders grade HVAC. He then told me that the only option was to replace the entire system and showed me options on his iPad. Again nothing that I could keep so that felt shady to me. I did not opt to have them repair or replace my system. By this time I lost any faith in them due to three different techs telling me three different things. Less than three weeks later my a/c went out. I called another company who came right out. The first thing they noticed was that the cap and seals from the freon had been removed and was lying on the ground. Because of this my freon leaked and shorted the fuse. This company found no leak and added freon to my system. I was told that the type of freon my system used was not illegal at all, but was being phased out with a more healthy freon. They got me up and running. I told them that I was told about the growth in my coils and asked if they would take a look. They found that the coils had much more growth than I had been led to believe and that every time my a/c was on, that it was sending unhealthy air into my home. They did not tell me I had to replace everything, but I did need to replace the indoor portion of my HVAC. I was told that the growth occurred because of three primary reasons: improper installation of my original HVAC (John Wayne never told me this), inadequate air intake (again not told so by John Wayne) and poor filtration combined with a negative pressure system (John Wayne did state the poor filtration, but not the pressure issue.

My appointment was scheduled for 10:00 am - 2:00pm, technician arrived at 12:15pm. Very professional and courteous, I explained my problem with the unit and he went straight to work. It took him approximately about 45 min to make a diagnoses of the problem and he gave me three estimates that range from $3669.00 / with 5yr warranty - $2951.00 / with 1yr warranty. My first thought was WOW , a bit high. I asked him, what it cost to replace the whole a/c unit. He replied he would have to get a sales person out the next day, so I agreed. After he left my house,my wife noticed the temperature warming up inside the house. The technician had adjusted the thermostat to 69 degrees, so my unit had been running all night long. I was furious that someone would do something like that and not say anything. I contacted the company, Jon Wayne to let them know about the problem that their technician had left behind, all they could say was, " I'm sorry " . That will not pay my electric bill for my a/c unit running all night long. Not only did he do that , but now my fan won't turn " OFF ". My unit is now constantly running ,but not cooling. Now I'm waiting for a call from management or the owner mr. Don Rackler ! This type of service defeats the purpose of there, mission statement. That indicates, " We will work to make things right by you ".

So, I purchased a plumbing check on Angie's list. Yes they contacted me within 48 hours, however when I called to schedule an appointment, when the person on the phone found out it was already paid for it was 2 weeks before an appointment. The workers arrived were courteous and I guess did the right thing, however my issues was not solved and I was out almost $300.00. That next Saturday I had a significant water leak, so I called....I was told it would be Monday before anyone could even come out and evaluate the issue. Not using this company again!!!!!!

I have used them before for other things. Jon Wayne does do an excellent job and employees are very professional. HOWEVER, they use "pressure" sales even when they come out to tune up your a/c. I mean - PRESSURE SALES !! And, their pricing is so much higher than anyone else's it is amazing that they are still in business! They gave me pricing for installation of new air ducts, when all I wanted was repairs. They wanted $5,000 JUST FOR THE REPAIRS. But, they wanted to put a whole new air duct system in for around $11,500 !!!! I found someone else who could just repair the duct work for less than $500 - who had excellent references. Did it for $350.00. I have been with Jon Wayne for a long time because of their "Gold Card" plan - which sounds great until you realize that you can get any of the tuneups or repairs from another reliable company and it is still so much less expensive. The gold-card plan is $600 per year. With the plan, my unit was under warranty for the first 5 years, so I kept it up. It is no longer under the warranty, so I am dropping it. But it is still less expensive just to go with a different company.

(Note: The tech did not provide me with a copy of repairs and services performed so the following details are from memory. He emailed a receipt of payment but it contained no details of services performed.) After inspecting our system, the tech informed me of a number of problems, recommended parts, suggested adjustments, and service upgrade opportunites. To the best of my memory. they were: - clear clogged drain line - "balance" incorrectly pressurized system - place caps on all system ports (said it should have been done by the installer) - install a "compressor protector" - various guarantees and future services options He offered 5 or 6 different options of the above repairs, including various levels of guarantees and annual maintenance service calls with discounts for future services. The prices for these options varied from a high of almost $1,900 to a low of just under $400 for the "bare minimum" services. I felt the number of options and various levels of guarantees were overly complex, confusing and the prices were shocking. I ended up selecting a mid-level option which - to the best of my recollection as I have no paperwork to refer to - included the first four items listed above and a 90 day guarantee of the parts and repairs made. The services were performed (time spent after diagnosis and writing up all the repair options was approximately 1.5 hours) and the secondary drain stopped dripping within 36 hours. John Wayne is now advertising on TV they will do a service call, clean the drain line and install the "compressor protector" for $179. This indicates I spent an additional $743 ($942 - $179) to have the pressure balanced, caps placed on the compressor ports, and a 90 day guarantee. That doesn't make me a happy customer and I'll look elsewhere next time I need AC work.
Description of Work: Service call for our four year old central air conditioner. Water was dripping from the secondary drain and my attempts to clear the clog in the main drain were unsuccessful. The tech cleared the line and performed a number of other services.
