Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Heating & Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Electrical, & Home Automation.
The Provider once he arrived on the advertised service call. After a few cursory minutes came down from my attic, and began the laundry list of items that did not pinpoint the problem...only what the provider would desire you to spend to supposedly fix the problem. When the provider arrived I had a pretty good idea of what the problem was as I had experienced this in another home we owned, and let the provider know exactly what we wanted; but under the (wink, wink) so called service call entered my attic which only lasted a few seconds, then went out to his truck (that lasted about 10 minutes, came back into the back yard took a look at my outside unit, went back up into the attic, came down and began the sales-and options to fix our particular problem He explained that that the original builder failed to included certain items on my outside unit, that we had an "Electrical fault in the dual voltage absorption system (the fancy word for the "can capacitor"!), a mechanical fault in the air reaction system, no super boost compressor switch (the item he stated the original builder failed to include in our system), microbial growth in fan coil (this is cured by just putting a half cup of Clorox in the air handler system (wanted to charge us an arm and a leg for a filter to correct this!) We realized this was not the service call to just fix our system to make it just work, it was an aggressive opportunity for them to load up and charge for items that truly were not needed at that moment, but made to fell that it WAS necessary to remedy the situation. The provider did admit to me when watching him replace the capacitor (that SYSTEM mentioned above) that the majority of calls, his words - 98 percent of the time. are just replacing that capacitor! After he installed this item he went back to his truck for a few minutes. He left his a/c apparatus connected to check the amount of refrigerant in our system. It was then that I told my wife he was going to come back into the house and tell us we need refrigerant!. Behold! he came back in and said that we were two pounds of refrigerant low, and it would cost us $99 a pound to refill (mind you we use 410a!). We refused as thought that the day before our unit was working and cooling very well before it went out. We found it strange that we would have lost that much refrigerant. We already were suspect that it was just a measure to attempt to have at minimum a $500 dollar repair (which we now understand is the goal many HVAC companies strive for...(don't leave until you have at min. that total, or recommend a whole new unit). What we did was subscribe to "Next door" an app that involves our community on selling or recommends service folks. Well we found an independent gentlemen (licensed HVAC), and after explaining what we just went through with Jon Wayne agreed to come by the house and check it out. We were Blessed by finding this gentlemen (and he works for commercial HVAC folks, and agreed that-that is exactly what HVAC companies do....try to up sell homes on A/C items. He determined that I did not need the refrigerant and that it was normal!...mind you Jon Wayne provider said I needed two pounds of refrigerant! Matter of fact when the provider priced the item replaced ( at $297 including the service fee of $29, and supposedly included a military discount and senior discount which we qualified for) the independent service person told us that the item replace really only cost approx at most $40 dollars! Folks you have to beware of what HVAC companies attempt to do...they feel that because your A/C is out; that they have you by the g*****, and gouge you by marking up by 300 percent items that cost much less! I did speak to a supervisor at Jon Wayne; and just followed the company line. Listen folks you pay for the nice van they show up in and their 200 plus employees; then tell you that you qualify for a military discount...Listen! if they charged you only $150 dollars, they are still making profit hand over foot.....on the back of their receipt it claims that "Pop" Rackler the President is all about integrity....they lost that when the provider said I needed refrigerant. It's all about fleecing the public to line their pockets...I understand a business is in it to make a profit..I have no problem with that; but to then provide you a list of items that cost an arm and a leg and not be truthful is another. So BEWARE with Jon Wayne, and any other company.....do some homework, use your neighborhood apps to try and find an individual who IS honest....the person I found even refused to take money until we insisted. He our man from now on for HVAC service...Jon Wayne, and Airtron who installed our system in our Ryland home are both rip-offs....again do some homework and BEWARE! If Jon Wayne wanted to make this right they could at least taken off the service fee (which many HVAC do, and really give the military and senior citizen a truer discount), or lower the price of items that are replaced 98 percent of the time......Again BEWARE and compare and ask what it cost even if you are hot and uncomfortable. We are just Blessed to have found an honest individual who truly cared about us....sorry we did not find em BEFORE the fleece. This critique is also going on Home Advisor...spreading the word so someone else does not go thru this.

I purchased the Angie's List deal for a circuit breaker panel labeling and home electrical inspection from Jon Wayne Electrical on Friday. That afternoon, I was contacted and was able to set up an appointment for the following Monday. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly Jon Wayne was able to schedule an appointment. Jason arrived on Monday morning and proceeded to inspect all the outdoor breaker boxes. He also diagnosed at no additional charge a problem with my pool spa air blower pump that was causing a loud humming noise and he was able to correct the problem. Jason also made some recommendations for extending the life of the breakers since my house is over 20 years old. Jason arranged to come back at 10:00 the next day for the circuit panel labeling since that requires two people and he was alone. The next morning, Jason and James arrived promptly at 10:00 and proceeded to label all the circuit breakers. Both of them were extremely knowledgeable and very professional and a pleasure to deal with. I am exceedingly happy with the service provided and would recommend Jon Wayne Electrical for any electrical need.
Description of Work: Inspected all electrical panels inside and out and labeled the circuit breakers in the indoor panels.

Technician arrived on time. Took approx 1 1/2 hours to check both systems. Informed me that a capacitor on the compressor unit in the back yard was deteriorating and recommended to be replaced. I asked the cost and was quoted a price of approx $280. I have always been irritated/aggravated that on each service call (I've had 3), the technician always attempts to "up-sell" additional services. I have investigated the cost of these capacitors on the web and discovered replacements were in a range of $20 - $60, retail. Needless to say, I concur with all reviewers who marvel at the high cost of Jon Wayne services.
Description of Work: Semi-annual check of two heat pump systems. This check got scheduled by me after I had to remind to company that I had signed up and paid for a "twice a year system check." When I called to the company they attempted to convince me I was only eligible for one check per year. WOW! $180 per unit (I have 2 units) to ensure my system is operating correctly.Oh yes, my service program also gave me a discount for any replacement parts, if the part was in stock on the technician's truck. I never asked what it would cost if the part needed to be ordered.

A/C was not operating well during August hot season. We contacted 3 companies to get estimates for repairs. During review of our equipment, the Jon Wayne tech checked warranty on our two A/C system and said that one of the systems was still under parts/labor warranty. This was unknown to us, since the builder did not provide us copies of the A/C warranty. Informing us of this fact in itself shows the integrity and professionalism of the company. Upon further checking with the the A/C system manufacturer, we further discovered that not one but both systems were still covered by the warranty and contacted the original installer and had repairs done by them. Although Jon Wayne didn't do the repairs, their warranty check saved us a lot of money.

It went well. The system is old and the professional stated that there was probably a leak in the system, but that it was not really worth it to test and then go thru the system to fix it properly due to the system being so old. He gave us an estimate just to service it and one for testing for a leak and then fixing it and servicing the system after it was fixed. As he showed by the estimates t was better to consider replacing the system. Their Sales rep came out and gave us a complete estimate for replacement. It was too high for us to replace the system at this time.

I do feel more informed and I have had 3 experiences with the Jon Wayne company in the past month. Outdoor faucets replaced/upgraded,(plumbing); electrical dimmer switches/ceiling light installed (electrical); and the Energy Audit. All the personnel have been exceptional - and I am especially pleased with their communication, So often, I am left to wonder what's happening, but this company kept me up to date and informed, These guys were on time, professional and completed everything to my complete satisfaction. I did not compare prices before I contacted Jon Wayne - I think the total for all the jobs was about $600; - they might be a bit pricey, but so are tomatoes. My dad always said the price is forgotten long after the aggravation continues - so true.
Description of Work: Home Energy Audit - Checked all the vents, electrical outlets, attic, pot lights, etc. to see if my 3 year old home was too "tight". I had heard of "sick" buildings, but did not know exactly what that meant. August was very patient as I followed him around asking questions. If the house is too tight it pulls dust and contaminants into the house rather than vent them out. Interesting hour and a half.

We've had lots of service with John Wayne, and while we like and trust them, they're extraordinarily expensive. That is, perhaps, and understatement. John Wayne does give you plenty of options: a low, medium, and high bid in order of complete to most complete. The lowest bid option on the water heater, their "budget option" was $3000. We went with [name removed] instead, and they did a fine job, using a quality, brand-name water heater (Rheem) for $1200 installed. I like you, John Wayne, it's just not prudent to pay what you're asking.
Description of Work: Quote for water heater replacement. Approximate cost of service of $3,000.00.
It went very well. As soon as he arrived, Tom Hutchinson, got to work. He did not waste any time and he was done with the job in about 30 -45 minutes. Tom was very courteous and professional. I will recommend Jon Wayne Service Company and Tom Hutchinson to all of my friends and family.

Jason communicated arrival time before hand and was very courteous. He covered up surfaces, wore booties over his work boots and carefully vacuumed up after the work was completed. We had some issues with the lighting fixtures that he worked through and discussed prior to making changes to the original plan. He provided pricing prior to beginning work and explained the Angie's list discount as it applied to the work. Before leaving he went back over the charges. Would use Jon Wayne Electrical again and would try to request Jason. Thanks guys!

The technician checked our unit because of a leak, he said the coil was leaking and needed to be replace and that our system was installed improperly . A few days later after looking into it, he said that the coil was not covered by warranty and gave us 4 packages ranging from $6,500 to $15,000!!!. We called a different company who did the same inspection and determined that the coil was covered by warranty, so we had them replace the coil and paid for the labor, freon and the inspection for $600. I have to say, I was extremely disappointed with the way this was handled by John Wayne, I had always considered them to be a reputable company. Maybe I just got a bad apple...

Mr. Brader inspected everything and explained clearly the issues that did and did not appear. He explained all the steps and what the information meant. He also pointed out that the builder had done an excellent job of sealing and insulating the house so that there wasn't much to be gained in that area. (Nice to know what work does NOT need to be done!) He also identified some problems with my HVAC ductwork and what might be needed to improved temperature control in my house. Mr. Brader was careful, conscientious, and thorough, spending more time talking and explaining than I expected. I do feel that, as a result, I know exactly what my HVAC system will need going forward. As a result, I will certainly consider using Jon Wayne for the work.
Description of Work: Jon Wayne Heating and Air Conditioning offered a home energy audit as an Angie's List special. Their Energy Auditor, August Brader, performed a blower door and smoke test to determine if and where my house was "leaking". He followed up by using infrared thermal imaging to locate specific "hot spots" where the insulation might not be performing properly.

He told me that the rubber ring was 99 dollars and I had already paid my price for the visit thru you guys. I asked a plumber today and there service is 99 dollars and rubber ring is around 3 or 4 dollars. Kind of feel lied to from the service guy that he misrepresented himself about prices, I a a female not knowing how much plumbing stuff cost so believed him but just seemed like a lot of money not sure whether I would use them again, Feel like by the time I paid you around 30 dollars and paid him 99 dollars that is 130 dollars The plumber I was talking to would have cost me 103 approximately so do not know how cheap it is to use services, except you screen them Thank you for listening.

The repairs made were possibly necessary, but the part that upsets me is the ad says $189 to service the units. No mention that there might be "other costs." I was not shown the replacement parts so I had to take their word that they were bad, (both air units were working prior to the call) He did show me a picture of a rat that had gotten in the outside unit. The fact that I was charged $1,036.00 when I expected $369, (cost of a "deluxe service") was indeed a shock. I wish now I had referred to Angies list instead of an ad. I will not use them in the future

I'm still in shock and must admit, I laughed 'til I cried after this service call. I just don't understand what happened. The young tech lifted the top off the tank of my 5-6 year old Kohler comfort-height toilet to view the worn flap lying on the bottom of said tank. He looked inside and confirmed what I reported to the scheduling clerk: the flap needs to be replaced. The technician (who was a very nice and courteous young man), commented on how new the toilet appeared and then began working up the estimate for replacing and installing the flap. After taking a good deal of time searching his iPAD or other device, the tech presented "three options" for the repair all of which cost more than what I paid for the toilet itself. After stuffing my eyes back into their sockets, I asked him to explain the cheapest option to me. I'm a retired college professor and I don't think I could explain this situation for a million dollars. Since I am already a customer from the purchase of a heating and air conditioning system a few years ago, I already pay them a monthly fee for service contract. This toilet was not purchased with them and it really makes no sense to pay an additional monthly fee in case this toilet requires another $10 flap in the future. I suppose my age is the problem. It used to be that you could call a "plumber" to make all types of "plumbing" repairs. Being a senior, I thought I would receive my 10% senior discount, wait about 20-30 minutes, and my toilet would once again function perfectly as it had before. I don't understand these new methods of pricing which may not be, but appear unscrupulous to some of us. My recommendation is to only use Jon Wayne for major AC/Heating system purchases, but hire a handyman for minor repairs.

Jon Wayne's master plummer Troy took one look and knew what the problem was. He proceeded to fix the faucet quickly and efficiently. Troy was extremely professional and personable during the whole appointment. Another representative, Christina, made the appointment and then followed up with a reminder of the appointment. Because of an unforeseen complication with the appointment before me, Christina called to inform the plummer was running late, but would advise me as soon as he was coming. She was very pleasant and helpful with the whole situation. Great job by good people
