The vehicle is a 1959 Chevy Apache truck. Numerous areas of rust required welding replacement metal. This work was excellent. The body was stripped down to metal, primed and received multiple coats of paint and clear coat. The paint job was very good. Since the job was on a classic vehicle, it was understood from the beginning that it would take some time. And it did, six months. Most auto paint companies don't want to mess with a job like this because of the potential problems, like rust, delicate trim, etc. Choice Auto was also hesitant but produced a result that met, and for the body work, exceeded my expectations. The only problem with taking so long was the disorganization that comes with stopping and starting so many times. But this was unique to this type of job.

I carelessly drove my car against the side of my garage door creating a long and deep scratch/dent running much of the length of the passenger's side. Not only did they repair the car but repainted the ENTIRE AUTOMOBILE for almost half the price of the neighboring competitors, and they completed the job on time as promised. And did an excellent job.

I took my son's vehicle to Cordovas but they told us they dont do body work and told us to go across the street to Choice I had no idea they did body work. The gentleman Bill (very nice) took a look gave us an estimate and told us how long it would be. The lady there was also fantastic Tracey is her name. The vehicle was done when they said it would be. Even when we had a problem with my sons insurance check made out to lien holder and him ...they were able to work with us. Tracey took care of getting them to resolve the check issue. I will be going there from now on when needed. I only wish I had used the 5%coupon ....since I didn't know till after that they were on Angie's list. Oh well still a great shop!! The B was for me not using that coupon! :)

When I went to Pick Up the Truck I immediately notice that the debris that had accumulated during the sanding had not been thoroughly cleaned off before the paint was applied. Then I noticed runs in the paint, and emblems were misapplied or missing. In addition there was a stone chip in the windshield and a quarter of a tank of gas missing. When I complained they told me I had gotten what I paid for and if I wanted a quality job it would cost $1700.00 more. They then accused me of trying to get out of paying. I feel I received the $499.00 paint job not the $799.00 paint job. I will not recommend this company, and I don't trust them to touch my Truck again. I feel they overcharged me by at least $300.00. In fact the $499.00 paint job should be of higher quality than I received.

Let me start with a quote from the customer 'I cant wait to get out of TX because everybody here does shabby work'. Obviously this is an unsatisfied customer wherever he goes. As far as work goes, the going rate to do a complete factory style paint job on a mid size truck is between $3000 to $4000 at any collision shop, we specialize in complete paint jobs and offer significant discounts. We clearly state that some imperfections will show on a complete paint-job and this is an acceptable industry norm as the majority of complete paintjobs are on vehciles 10 years and older, it makes no sense to completely take them apart and use the most premium materials adding up to the $3000 + charges at most collision shop. When I have asked the customer if he wants us to repair or replace his windshield as I have no way of knowing if it had a minor chip (mind you he does landscaping for a living) or not, his response was he wants a full refund or he will post a review on Angie's list, he definitely was honest about that.

My '04 Acura needed a lot of work because of a major problem with the clear coat finish and because of a number of dents on several parts of the car. The clear coat was peeling badly from the trunk, the sides and the roof of the car. I went in to Choice on Monday and got an estimate for the work. The estimator and I reviewed the car's condition. I requested that the color of the paint remain the same and was assured that the car would be painted with the exact color. I also asked if they could do something about the headlights where the glass was cloudy. On Tuesday I dropped my car off and was told it would be ready by late Friday afternoon. Then Thursday I was called and told it was ready, which was a day earlier than expected. I picked up the car and am very pleased with the paint job. It is the exact color of the original paint job. The headlights are clear and clean. Surprisingly they had reattached a part on the passenger 's door latch, which I hadn't even mentioned. There are a few needle-sized places that have a bump of pain but it is not easy to see unless you are inspecting the car. My car looks like new.

I pulled into Choice Auto Painting and Body Works by mistake, while looking for anorther body shop from Angie's List. The appraiser (probbably owner-manager too)., named Bill, took about one minute to come from the shop and look at the dented rear quarter panel of my 2006 Honda Accord. I had the trunk open, thinking it was necessary to acess the dented area, which had been subjected to restaurant parking-lot vandalism after an SUV driver cursed at me for parking too close to him and tapping the side of his vehicle with my car door as I got out. I assume this guy was the vandal, since there was no damage before. I was thinking, if I get away with spending $100 to have this minor repair made, I will be lucky. Bill took one look and pushed on another portioin of the quarter panel, popping the dented part back into place. He shook my hand and wished me well -- making a Choice customer-for-life out of me if I ever need auto body work done again. Thanks again, Bill.

It was very easy, very painless. I took the vehicle in and their service writer looked it over. He was a very nice and professional. It did not take long at all for him to write up and present me with an estimate. I felt the estimate was extremely fair ($336) and gave them the go ahead. He told me it would be 3 days at the most and it was exactly that. Actually, I picked up first thing in the morning of the 3rd day. One thing I'd like to mention is, I asked him about repairing some door dings while they were fixing the scrape. He told me that if they were to repair those, it would be a bit pricy. He said my best bet was to contact a paintless dent removal guy to do the work. He then gave me the number of a local guy and even offered to allow me to set up an appointment to have the dings repaired while my car was at their facility if I wanted to. I thought that was really nice of them to do, and I appreciated his honesty.
Description of Work: Choice Paint had to repair and paint about a 1X2 foot section on my suv that was damaged from sideswiping a pole. The vehicle was scraped down to the raw metal in several areas and there was some side molding damage as well. I asked them to fix and paint that section of the truck.

See above. They also said they would keep the car for 2 days and they had it ready in 2 days as promised.
Description of Work: My left front fender was damaged and needed repair and painting. The previous estimates I received from other companies were very high because they told me that they needed to accurately match the color of the pinstriping. Choice Auto Painting and Body Works was the ONLY company that gave me the option to pinstripe the entire vehicle with a stick on product for $35. I changed the pinstripe color and liked it better! They did a fantastic job at half the price of any other body shop.

I went to the reception area. No one was there. No one came. I asked if anyone could hear. No answer. I finally left. Afterward, I saw a negative critique but noticed two locations of the same name so i called the other one, not visited to determine if they had the same owner. They did although there is a difference in the corporate name. I thought it best to look elsewhere and got the job done beautifully.

I contacted the owner after he left a response to my comments. After listening to my account, he very graciously agreed to reimburse me for the expenses incurred repairing my steering column and replacing some broken parts. If I were to use Choice again, I would deal directly with the owner, Mr. Ashlag. He and the new manager of the Nacogdoches location do appear to be responsive to customer customer concerns and complaints. Although the situation is not perfect, I believe we have reached an acceptable conclusion. I saw an ad in a circular and, after reading some online reviews (not all good but they did seem earnest about resolving customer disputes), I decided to give Choice a try. I'd waited a long time to have my 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco painted and did not want to trust it to an economy shop nor break the bank at one of the expensive body shops who mostly deal with insurance. I decided on a nice mid-level multi-layer paint job. I got a good feeling when talking with the manager. One of the workers even gave me a ride home in his personal vehicle. Great so far! The job was finished in good time; however, I did not receive a call when it was done. The paint job was mostly alright but not nearly as professional as I would have expected. The attention to detail was inconsistent (ranging from great to poor) and it was clear that, while someone must have been interested in giving me a good paint job, others apparently had no interest in that nor any respect for my vintage car. Some parts, which should have been removed or covered prior to painting, were shabbily and partially painted over while some hard to replace plastic fittings were completely destroyed. Interior and exterior moldings were carelessly removed for painting, were not replaced after painting and were thrown into the back seat along with some of the associated parts. I had to remove both front seats in a futile attempt to find all of the parts which had been removed as well as clean up after them (the interior was dusty as if it had been left open to the elements). A good number of the impossible to replace molding clips were never found and I had to return to the shop to have them find some larger missing molding pieces. Some of the molding can still not be reattached due to the lack of available clips. Paint was also carelessly smeared in two places on the interior of the drivers-side door. I was previously having trouble with the driver's-side door lock mechanism so I locked the car with the alarm and left written instructions attached to the vehicle for it to be unlocked with the remote only. These instructions were completely disregarded so the lock mechanism was broken and was in free spin mode when I arrived to pick it up and could not locked without repair. Yeah! After letting the paint set up in the garage for a month (and wanting to give the shop the benefit of the doubt ), I returned to have them buff out the small imperfections. Whoever did this must have been a big guy because when I returned to pick the car up my steering column had been yanked so hard that the old bearings were completely shattered, the column was barely intact and, if I hadn't have been so angry, I would have refused to drive it home in that unsafe condition. That was surely nothing I expected when I brought it in for a buff! The manager denied any knowledge of this and I believe that his worker probably made no mention of it to him. Luckily, I was able to find the bearing on eBay for around $30. I then had to pay $160 for a shop to install it and shore up the steering column. The shop was amazed that I was able to still find the part. There was also quite a bit of paint dust (produced from buffing) embedded in some of the porous trim which I still cannot remove. The manager was nice to comp the buff job but did not offer to fix the damage to the steering column. I left pretty unhappy about the state of the car and the lack of professionalism of the shop. I thought about calling the business owner but just didn't want to deal with the shop again. I would like the issues resolved and to actually receive the professional service I thought I paid for. I was told the business owner used to have a Scirocco. I hope he treated his better than his shop treated mine. I hope they have improved their professionalism and have lost some of their poorer workers; however, I have no idea whether that's the case. Color me "D" for Disappointed. I am grateful that Angie's List sought my opinion of this shop and hope it will be useful to others.

I invite the owner to personally contact me at 210-683-1600 to help with the complaints. However, I do remember this car it was red, the customer dropped off and picked up on Saturday so he dealt with the manager and not me personally but the manager did make me aware of some issues. I guess from time - to time every shop gets has to service a fragile classic that has non related problems blamed on the shop. We do need to move the car around the parking lot to work on it and it's quite frustrating when it needs to be jumped off to start, every piece is fragile but we have to do it because frequently cosmetic restoration may take place before mechanical. Nevertheless, my business card is in the shop with personal email and cell phone # and it's on the website. No attempt to contact me or request anything was ever made. We do a lot of out of pocket work and deal with many older cars frequently brought to us by dealers who have in various states of functionality or repair, so I am familiar with how sensitive these cars could be. Nevertheless, I welcome any request for resolution. Thanks Dan Ashlag Owner

CHOICE AUTO PAINTING & BODY WORKS painted the entire car, took care of the needed body work, painted the bumpers, and cleaned the oxidation from my front lights. The paint work and repair work was very good. I am pleased with the final product. The value for their services was very good. It is you basic paint and body repair shop. I dropped the car off on the same day I spoke to the shop.
