About us

Energy Attic, a consulting company for energy efficiency upgrades for residential or commercial. Our client's homes and offices are more energy efficient and save money. We specialize in foil radiant barrier, blown-in fiberglass insulation, and ventilation as a proven 3 part Energy Reduction System which will save you up to 40% on your utility costs. These home improvement upgrades will pay for themselves in energy savings and then continue to save you money as long as you live there. Energy tax credits are available through 2011. We have extensive construction experience and have a proven track record of installed clients. We will be happy to give you customer references. The radiant barrier we use is made from 99% aluminum foil and is 97% reflective - the highest reflectivity available. It is non toxic, has no fumes or off gassing and will not have to be reapplied over time. It can reduce your attic temperatures up to 40-50 degrees in the summer months and keep the heat from escaping during the winter months. We engineer our installations for each home to maximize air flow and heat reduction. We offer fiberglass blown in and batt insulation. We use premium insulation - Johns Manville Climate Pro. It has a lifetime guarantee against settling and does not deteriorate like many products. It is made from 25% recycled glass products and contains no formaldehyde. We also offer insulation removal services for fires, floods or contaminated insulation. The third component is ventilation. Solar fans are excellent because they actively remove hot air and moisture from your attic without using any electricity. They are extremely quiet and can withstand brutal Texas weather. We use Sunrise Solar Attic fans which are made in the USA and have an excellent warranty. Our estimates are free so call us now to start saving!

Kent is the owner of the company and a genuinely great guy- the kind of guy I'd enjoy drinking a beer with on the weekend. His wife is equally as lovely on the phone. Their supervisor came over for the free quote who was courteous and professional. I worked with Amy on "massaging the quote" to be a bit more competitive to another vendor, and really have absolutely no regrets hiring these guys as you could tell in this process this was a professional group. They did a great job. The attic looks like a winter wonderland as they gave me a little more insulation than expected. Kent's Hispanic crew was tidy, hard working, and respectful. Overall five stars! Would recommend them to anyone without any hesitation. After the install I did a walk thru with Kent and I pointed to one hard to reach area behind a chimney that I thought needed some more insulation. They rolled the hose back out and filled the hard to reach area without complaint. I think it's worth noting - These guys only do foil and don't push the spray on stuff. They were willing to line the ENTIRE attic with foil and not simply table top the foil 3/4 of the way up as some of their competitors do. They weren't the cheapest quote but I could tell from their website and talking to their staff that it would be a top quality job. They did not disappoint. It's too soon to tell if all this energy efficient stuff has had a huge impact on my electric bill or not but it certainly looks like it should. Again- use these guys with confidence. They will do a great job for you.
Description of Work: added foil radiant barrier to three attic spaces for our 4350 sq ft home, additional blown in insulation to these 3 spaces, added 10 soffit vents, insulated 3 water heaters, and installed two attic tents.

Our home is 10 years old and we always struggle with keeping the upstairs comfortable. This year I could not take the incessant AC operation and still reaching 90 degrees in the game room (not very comfortable for any games). In addition, I am trying to use my garage for a woodworking shop...which is not very good if the temp is 115 in the garage. So I contacted a few insulation companies in the area to request quotes and input on improving the situation. Kent from Energy Attic was by far the most up front and I did not feel like I was being SOLD on something that we did not need. His quote, which arrived via email the day after the visit was flexible in allowing us to pick and chose the items that fit our budget and desire. They were able to schedule the work in a timely fashion and arrived on-time with enough manpower to knock the job out in a single day...which is amazing if you could see what it took to install the radiant barrier. The crew was awesome and they had supervision/direction for the entire job. Kent stopped by near the end of the job and was very involved in the inspection of the work. Time will tell if we have any return on the investment, but the for the past few days the AC is able to keep up with the 80 degree set point all day long (with outside temps reaching 105!)
Description of Work: Energy Attic installed radiant barrier film, additional loose insulation and new insulation over the garage.

Our house has 3,700 sq. ft. The upstairs room have always been hot. We had estimators coming (all off Angie's List) from three different companies. While we were impressed with all of them being responsive and professional, Energy Attic's bit was offered with the most quality material at the best price. They are very thorough and flexible at the same time. They went through our house and attic, suggested the best way to be energy sufficient. We followed some of the suggestions, but chose not to do everything on their suggested list. To save money, we have bought the attic vent ourselves. They are perfectly happy to charge only labor to put it in. They are also very organized with paper work, sending us the detailed estimate, the updated final estimate, AND the form to get tax credit. We are very happy with the whole process. Even with the list of their suggestions, we never felt pushed to buy any service from them. A pleasant experience. Adding the insulation and the solar attic vent have made SUCH an improvement. Now the rooms upstairs are actually cool. With the ceiling fans on, the AC only kicks on in the afternoon, and it does not work as hard at all! We are very glad to have had it done. Can't wait to see the electric bill. There has to be a huge drop...
Description of Work: Adding 6" insulation in the attic, installed Solar Powered Attic Vent (provided by us), removed a broken turbine and replaced with new one (provided by us).

We received more than the 4" blown in insulation and a certificate for tax purposes for the insulation. Energy Attic installed two additional soffit vents at no additional cost. We had matching house paint in the garage, (which my wife found) and Energy Attic painted the installed grills with our paint. Due to a new baby for one of the staff and having someone leave, the original schedule shifted. For us, additional insulation and vents was not time-critical. We were called ahead of time about the situation and approved the "delay". Very pleased with the job and the communication asking for an OK on schedule shift. We all know "Life Happens". We recommend this company.
Description of Work: Chose from the several written, priced, possible options emailed to us. We chose to have 4" of additional attic insulation and 7 additional soffit vents in order to try to lower the attic temperature in a two story house.

It went well. Kent initially came by to perform the estimate. They also install an aluminum foil radiant barrier and formaldehyde-free fiberglass insulation. The two workers arrived around 9:15am and were done by 10:45am. They installed the Attic Tent first, sealing it and stapling it in place. The attic fan is rated R-3.2 and is similar to having a Low E window installed. It is designed to be an air transfer barrier between your attic and living area. It has been proven to reduce air transfer by at least 71%. That's less energy used to heat or cool your living area being lost into the attic, so it should pay for itself in 1-3 years. Once they finished installing the attic tent, they then went up on the roof to install the Solar Attic Fan. They removed one of the existing passive vents, and enlarged the hole so the fan could fit. They then installed it, sealing it with silicone and then nailing it in place. They also needed to block a couple of the nearby passive vents, otherwise the fan might draw in air through those vents. The Solar fan powers itself so there are no energy costs and it has a thermostat so it will only come on when the temperature exceeds 80 degrees. The fan is warranted for 5-10 years and is wind and hail resistant. The two workers seemed to know what they were doing and were quick about setting things up. They also had a foreman who supervised their work. I've notice it is about 5-10 degrees cooler in the attic so it is getting rid of the hot air up there. The upstairs area isn't as hot thanks to the attic tent, since there is no longer any infiltration of the attic air. So it went well and we may use them again for insulation and adding an aluminum radiant barrier.

I started researching ways to lower my electric bill after another horribly hot summer. I have looked into all the products out there from paint (which is not nearly as reflective as the aluminum), just adding insulation, or the aluminum radiant barrier sheeting. Also in my research, I spoke with customers who have had each of the products installed in their home. The people who were the happiest with their decision all used Energy Attic. I found Energy Attic's website and was amazed at all the information and links to back up their statements. I then looked over the Energy Star website and found the aluminum product to be the best on the market. I then called the office and spoke with Suzanne who was pleasant and very knowledgeable about their product and other products on the market. I set up an appointment and Kent came to my home the next day to take measurements. Again, very nice and extremely knowledgeable. He also explained how their method of installation - stapling the aluminum to the rafters - was the most effective way to stop the heat before it came into my home. I received a quote the next day. Everything was explained in detail so there were no surprises when I scheduled for them to come out and install the radiant barrier and insulation. The crew arrived on time and were so polite. When they informed me that they were finished, I was expecting to have to start cleaning things up. I was pleasantly surprised with they asked to borrow the vacuum to pick the few sprinkles of insulation that were on the floor under the attic door. I installed the radiant barrier in October and cashed in on their cooler weather specials and was so excited to see that my kilowatt hours was a little over 1/3 less that last years electric bill. Needless to say, we are thrilled with our investment and can't wait to see how much we save during the summer months.
