Advance to Voigt Masonry

I called him from Angie's list, and several others, but he was the only one available that day. He looked at it, evaluated the cost, it seemed OK, so I let him do it, and by the afternoon, my mailbox was OK.

Our foundation had shifted, causing serious damage to the curved archway that was the entrance to our front porch and to the brick column that supported it. We asked Mr. Voigt to rebuild both the archway and the column. We also asked that he rebuild without the curve in the archway. He is clearly a craftsman. Our brick is multi-colored, and without careful attention, the rebuilt areas would not have matched perfectly. There were a couple other details in the rest of the brickwork in the front of our house that hadn't been carried through the archway and should have been. Mr. Voigt noticed when he began the job and did what the original builders should have. It looks great. He was straightforward when he came out to give us a bid, came when he said he would, finished when he said he would, and did a beautiful job. Great work at a fair price.

The stones used on our wall are porous so over time, three stones had eroded. Voigt Masonry removed and replaced the stones. The repair is not visible due to excellent craftsmanship.

The price was very reasonable, the mailbox has proven to be of excellent quality and durability. I really appreciated how Mr. Voight explained everything he would do when he gave me the bid (one of 3) and his attention to detail while working (including using a level after each row of bricks to insure the quality of the final result).

He arrived at 8AM and was finished by 9:30/10:00. Other companied on Angie's list wanted anywhere from $450-$900. Mr. Voigt did an excellent job and cleaned up after he was finished. I would definitely hire him again!!

Mr. Voigt is a consummate professional with a great deal of experience, and it shows. When we purchased our home, one of the finishes that caught our attention was an oversized brick fireplace that spanned an entire wall of the family room, unfortunately the built in media center was designed to accommodate a TV from 1986, not 2015. When we had Mr. Voigt out to prepare a quote he readily understood what we wanted done, made excellent suggestions on how the work should be done, and provided a fair quote. Due to a change in the weather he was able to fit our project in about a week later. The project took two days, Mr. Voigt and his associate were on time, explained exactly what they would be doing, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves (a definite plus, as indoor masonry work created a significant amount of dust). While we still need to have the new media cabinet built and installed, the surrounding brick work looks amazing, and we're sure the finished project will too. Thanks again Vance.

Overall we are happy with the work performed and the price. This was performed by the owner and he had an employee quit while on the job, and then the 2nd day his helper who he hired for the day did not return. The owner was reluctant to make changes we asked for and was a bit gruff at times but the finished product is nice.

Vance Voight arrived at my house on September 23, 2014 and provided a written quote to install a new brick mail box. On October 18, 2014, Vance came out to my house and I met with him to go into the details on the brick mailbox construction. I received a revised quotation the following day. I ordered my mailbox and sent Vance the drawing with the dimensions of the mailbox. When the mailbox arrived, I scheduled the construction date with Vance, which was November 3, 2014. The construction was completed within 2 days.Vance was on schedule, had the necessary material and did the work as quoted. No issues came up. My family and I are very pleased with the quality of work and final product.

The chimney on this 1936 house apparently never had a damper -- in the winter we were losing a lot of heat straight up the chimney. We needed one, but the standard dampers on the market were incompatible with the wide, non-standard geometry of the flu. Vance Voigt gave me an estimate after I found his name on Angie's List. Rather than recommending an expensive custom design, he devised an ingenious solution that uses two standard dampers side by side. He showed up on time, installed the hardware as expected, made sure we knew the simple steps to operating it, and cleaned up after himself. Because of his honest price, prompt action, competent work, and good nature, he'll get the call next time there's a need for any kind of masonry work.

Job was originally quoted in 2013, but we had to delay due to an out-of-town conflict. Vance was great about reviving the quote when we were finally ready to start with prompt phone or email replies and showing up when promised. Was clear to explain things that we would need to take care of, such as moving pool equipment, before they could begin. He called more than a day in advance to discuss rescheduling options when it was clear we were were going to be rained out on the first two start attempts. Showed up early each day on site and completed the job within three days as estimated. The brick veneer was installed on the front and one side of the 30' X 10' porch. The long wall had large windows that required many brick cuts for the columns between the window sections. Vance had agreed to use the 'Old Chicago' brick that had been pulled from the original porch since it was an exact match to the mix used on the rest of the house. Not trivial because these bricks were originally salvaged from numerous old ('Chicago') buildings and varied a lot in size, hardness, and condition. They did not split reliably, so almost all of the many cuts were done with the more time consuming saw. Also appreciated his flexibility in adding a gap around a sliding door found to be installed wrong by the framers so that it could be reset correctly after the brick was up. Job site was clean when complete. Vance matched the mortar, courses, and detailing used on the rest of the house so well that it is difficult to tell it is an add-on rather than original. Think he is a bit of a perfectionist.... which is not such a bad thing in these cases.

I emailed him on a Saturday and he responded that same morning. He does not provide the service I needed but nonetheless I appreciated the quick reply.

Vance was very professional and polite .I called him and he dropped off several brick examples but in the end I went with the brick that matched our home. He built the foundation one day and the mailbox the next. His attention to detail was exceptional, He removed the old mailbox and cleaned up the area. The price seemed a bit high but not unreasonable and his reviews and Angie's list ratings were important factors in my selection. Were very happy with his work and as the mail lady said " your new mailbox looks great".

Vance was prompt with the estimate, very fair with price and then worked with us for when to start the job. We waited 6 months and he honored his price quoted. His work was awesome, it looked like new, couldn't tell that he had done the work except I knew where the cracked bricks were and they weren't there any more. Looks fantastic! Would definitely use Vance again, if the need arises, he is very professional!

Vance and his worker were very professional and polite. He explained which areas should be addressed. After completion he walked around the house several times to make sure all areas had been repaired. I would definitely recommend this company.

Vance was able to find the bricks matching our home, build the slab and the mailbox the following day as per our specifications (design, address number embedded, mailbox size). His works was professional and the area cleaned afterwards. We are very happy, as our neighbor said "the new mailbox looks amazing!".

Vance is very knowledgeable in his field and his professional skill came through. I also found that he utilized candor and talked through any downsides that may result with the repair and replacement of stone. The results actually exceeded my expectations and I would certainly utilize Vance again on future projects. I found him to be reliable and a person of his word.

We selected another provider for this job, but Voigt would have been our 2nd choice.

I called Vance on Monday and he had me text him pictures of what remained of my brick mailbox after the top was destroyed by vandals over the weekend. He sent me a quote that night and asked me to set my spare bricks out so that he could take care of it. I contacted him the next day to let him know that he could start the work. He said he would be out Wednesday. He emailed me Wednesday morning that we would need to wait until Thursday due to an overnight freeze expected for Wednesday. He rebuilt the mailbox on Thursday, cleaned up the mess, and even removed the vandalized part of the mailbox that I was going to have the city pick up. I was not around while he was working so he left me an invoice and asked me to mail him the check. The mailbox looks good and the rebuilt round top is a fairly close match to the original bottom. Even the mailman was happy. Hopefully, the vandals notice his good work and leave it alone next time.

We are satisfied with the work, and my husband thought that the price was fair for the work done.

I have just moved into a totally remodeled home. With landscaping just completed it was time to replace my curbside mailbox. I found a mailbox in my neighborhood that I liked very much. It had a flagstone face and was what I was looking for. My home had flagstone trim in the front drive as well as a flagstone front porch, I wanted to carry this flagstone look to the mailbox. I took pictures of the mailbox I liked and forwarded them to Vance Voigt for a bid. He came out and met with me delivering a proposal that I eventually choose. I thought the price was a bit high at the time but his responsiveness and Angie's List ratings were important factors in my go ahead decision. I am retired and was at home on the day he was going to begin work. During the build phase he asked question and made suggestions concerning the cutting of the flagstone, that was different from the model, but his suggestions would better match what I already had. His attention to detail was outstanding. As I mentioned above initially I though his price a bit high, this was totally changed after I saw the time and especially the skill that it took to complete the job. Since it's completion I have had a number of neighbors make positive comments on the job, as a matter of fact my mail delivery person even mentioned how nice it was. You can not go wrong with Vance Voigt, but more importantly I don't believe you could doe any better.

We decided to go another direction on the repairs to be done so we did not use Vance. However, he was extremely responsive, got out quickly, explained thoroughly what he thought needed to be done, and then sent an estimate right away. We will certainly call him again if what we try does not work.

Two men did the actual work. Everything went smoothly and the job was well done. They even came out to do the work not very long after we requested it, which was very convenient, because we were going to be travelling soon after. I do think the price was a little steep, considering we supplied the bricks and new mailbox. Other than that, we had no problems and are still happy with the end-result, communication and professionalism.

He did excellent work but I thought he was rather expensive. Scheduling was easy, he was able to come and do the work immediately. He finished the work in one day.

My decorative mailbox that I had bolted to the sidewalk was knocked down. I decided it was a better idea to sink a traditional mailbox post into the sidewalk. I contacted Vance along with others from Angie's List. Vance's price and availability we acceptable. He put the post in and filled an adjacent hole with concrete. He also fastened the mailbox to the post. Went well.
