So much to say in as few words as possible. Stay away! Please note that the good reviews were from years ago. We used Shadywood Homes 4 years ago to good success which is why we hired them as the GC to remodel a house completely. Boy did his work go from good to unacceptable over those few years. We have sued Shadywood Homes (Matt Norton-Owner) and have a Court date in May (I will update with the outcome when it happens). We have texts and emails that we’ll be sharing with the Courts so please understand, we have proof of all communication and we are not making this up. Why would we sue? Cutting corners such as 1) not installing decking on the roof but rather just shingles (can you say rot?) 2) Not paying subs so they come after you asking for money (Cash flow problems?) 3) Using sub-par subs in some cases who will just walk in your house without knocking 4) Hiring Victor Bishop, who is his electrician, who will go MIA weeks at a time leaving exposed outlets or no power at all to your house (code violations?). In fact, we had Baker Brothers come and inspect his work after we fired him and they found one of the outlets had been wired to 240 Volts (fire hazard and it’ll fry anything plugged into that outlet.) There were also other major code violations, such as crossed wires (house fire?) When Victor is there, he’ll work 2 hours and then call it a day. We even requested Victor be replaced with a different electrician, but Matt would not do that. 5) Drywall subs spilled the drywall dust all over the newly laid tiles and Matt has the audacity to ask you to clean it up long before you take possession of the house (it took chemicals, not water to get it off) 6) Promises house will be done in 3 months after he started (7 months later, it’s not finished.) 7) Takes a down deposit for the cabinet builder to buy materials but never pays him the actual money 8) won’t bring in a porta potty for the job so you will be cleaning up feces from the subs throughout the property since they have no place to go. The family that originally recommended him to us fired him after we fired him because he would not finish their project after 6 months. So much more. Using him is like paying the minimum on a credit card balance, it’ll never get paid off. Look elsewhere.

SLOWLY! Job that was to take 10 weeks or less dragged on to 19+ weeks. Matt Norton, owner, uses sub contractors that show up at random times - not the promised times AND their work is often unacceptable and needs to redone - often redone and redone. In the end, we have a nice room but this was a miserable job. Shadywood Custom Homes was our high bid, we picked Matt Norton's business because we wanted a quality job in the promised time frame. We had to constantly check the work and contact Matt as he does not follow up on his subs work ... very sad experience. We we NOT recommend Shadywood Custom Homes.
