Wilson Landscape Design

We feel like we received a tremendous value by using them and would not hesitate to use them again.

Had to call a couple of times to get Mr Wilson to come out but he was very busy in a busy time of year for a landscaper. He's very professional and knows his stuff. He designed a detailed plan for a 2 acre lot all of which can be done in sections to spread the cost out over time.

As I've become accustomed with "big deals", getting hold of the company initially was difficult. It took several calls to secure both a time to conduct initial inspection and to agree on time to complete the work - all told over a month. The team's assessment of the work, estimate and work itself was exemplary, however. Suggestions on stone type for the path were based on look, longevity and price, and an agreement on supply purchases was professionally conducted. The work itself was completed in 2.5 days (I had agreed to 40 man hours of labor), and was professionally conducted. I was very satisfied with the result.

They were supposed to show up at 8:30. They didn't get to the home until 1:30 after I called the company that morning. However, once they were there, they worked diligently. They didn't accomplish all on my list but they did do the most strenuous activities. The one other complaint I have is that a portion of the edging they were laying towards the end of thier labor was not installed correctly.

Good arrival time Ardent work by the crew of three Antonio gave clear directions to the others based on my requests, which the crew followed throughout the time. He worked with them, and was available as a need arose in the work. All trimmings were placed where the city would pick them up. Seeing the progress and changes was very satisfying. They did take a minimal lunch break. The final product was more than I had hoped.

They worked very hard, even though I was using a Groupon deal. They fixed the plumbing/wiring that was damaged during the excavation. The heat slowed down the work and it took a lot longer than I had anticipated. They hauled off the excess dirt for me for free. I liked working along side them and they listened well and did as I instructed them.

They did a great job with the beds, helped me with planting, bed work, and the replacement of edging and some stone work. Everything I on my list was completed and the job was done beyond my expectations.

Once they arrived, it was amazing. However, I was rescheduled three times before anyone actually came out to do the work, and I ended up getting a ticket from the city because I had scheduled it to come the week before bulk trash pickup since I don't have a truck to take the leavings to the dump. Unfortunately, they kept rescheduling and came the day after bulk trash pickup, and we got a $300 fine from the city for putting out the brush outside of our pickup time.

Antonio and his crew showed up on time and immediately started working on my long list of random yard chores. His crew started trimming and cleaning the beds and pulling up plants that I wanted cleared. Antonio then followed me to the nursery and helped me choose plants to replace them. He seemed to have a good working knowledge of landscaping and bed preparation. He and his crew went above and beyond to accommodate my requests and get as much done as possible in their time at my home. I'm definitely planning to call them back in the future.

I contacted the company concerning the Angie's Deal that I had bought. One of the employees finally came to the house in Feb. to look at my beds and discuss several landscaping projects that I wanted done. He took measurements and told me that he would send me some estimates and proposals by email within a couple of weeks. Several weeks went by and I never heard from him, so I emailed again. I finally emailed and requested that the flower beds be done if they didn't have time to do the other projects. I was never able to get anything scheduled. In the summer I started contacting the company again and this time the owner called me back. We talked on the phone and I told him that I wanted the flower beds in front of the house tilled, the soil enriched, and bedding plants put in. He did schedule my work, and two workers arrived around 1:00 or so that day. The problem was that they did not speak English, and did not seem to know what I wanted. They did not have a tiller. It was difficult to explain what I wanted, but they did work hard. I had a friend call with an emergency, and needed to leave for a few minutes. It was impossible for me to explain this to them, and when I returned they were gone. I never talked to the owner again. Based on my experiences with this company, I would not use them again.

Went very well. They came right when they said they would, did all the chores I asked them to do within the allotted time and even a bit more than I asked. Very friendly and they worked hard.

They were initially hard to get a hold of but the work was fine.

I purchased an Angie's List deal for 8 hours of lawn & yard work. I scheduled the appointment online with John Wilson several weeks in advance. He confirmed the date/time in an email. When the crew didn't arrive over an hour after the scheduled time, I called to determine what was going on. Unfortunately, this company uses an answering service and after explaining the situation to a generic message person, i hung up and waited. 45 minutes later and no return phone call, I decided to email John. 20 minutes later I received a call from DJ. He explained that John had scheduled "emergency" work and he had not realized that I had an appt at the same time. He explained that the crew was on their way and should be there in 30-45 min. They arrived 75 min later. The crew was very good to work with, there were three guys and the "lead" member spoke English well. They went to work and completed more than I expected. I had lot of shrubs to trim and plant growth to remove for the fall. They also trimmed lower branches from a large tree. They did a great job trimming and cleaning up afterward. The quality of their work was high. The scheduling and communication from the main office was not very impressive.

Had difficulty getting the company to adhere to their appointment schedule, but when they finally showed up they did an outstanding job. They had a three man crew who did a great job following the instructions I had for the landscaping work I needed done. Knocked it out quickly and did an excellent job with cleanup.

4 guys came over and asked me what I wanted to do and said they would be there 4 hours making 2 hours = 8 hours for the 199.00. They offered no suggestions or ideas for what I could do to my yard. They just stood around until I told them what to do. I finally just asked them to clean up a flower bed and cut back some bushes. I called and told the owner I was not satisfied and he said he would come look at my yard and offer some suggestions. He did not do that.

DJ from Wilson Landscape Design visited my house on Saturday, 9/1/2012 to give a quote. I did not receive a quote from him for quite some time, so I followed up with him about 1.5 weeks later. DJ kept telling me he would provide it later that day or the next. After another week, I reached out the Wilson Landscape Design, and finally received my quote in about 24-48 hours on Thursday, 9/20/2012 (almost 3 weeks after the initial visit). This should have been a clue that DJ would not be responsive during the process, and I should have went with another company then. Hindsight is 20/20. So on 9/20 and 9/21, I exchange emails and text with DJ. I asked him for a different option for the stone on 9/21. He finally gave me a stone option on 10/15 (more than 3 weeks later). During that time, DJ kept saying that he would send it to me the next day, etc. During that time (approximately during the first week of October), although we had not selected a stone option, DJ and I scheduled for the work to begin on the morning of Saturday, 10/27/2012. DJ mentioned that they do not typically work Saturdays, but that in this case he would make an exception. We had confirmed this by phone and by text. On Friday, 10/26/2012, at 12:24pm, I received the following text from DJ: " Stone company just called me that they can not make deliver of stone. They are having problems with truck. We will have to reschedule. I sorry for this delay." Please keep in mind this is less than 24 hours before the scheduled work. I've already cleared out my Saturday for this, but I understand that perhaps this was out of Wilson Landscape's control. So we trade a few more texts. I ask him how soon we could reschedule. DJ sends me the following text: " I am trying to get another stone yard to make the delivery but no luck so far. It would be next Saturday." Please remember this text from DJ, as it will come up again later. In any event, I can't schedule for that Saturday (I got married that day), so I write him this text: " I am getting married next Saturday, so that doesn't work for me. Please keep trying on the stone yards. Worst case, could we schedule it for 11/10?" DJ responds via text: " Congratulations... No problem on 11/10.. I have a few calls in to suppliers of ours.. If there is one day during the week between then and now I will squeeze you in.." So on Wednesday 11/7, I call DJ to confirm again for Saturday, 11/10 (we had already confirmed by the texts you see above, where DJ says "No problem on 11/10"). On Thursday 11/8 at 12:54pm, DJ sends me the following text: " Can not do Saturday.. I will ck the schedule when I get to office to see if 12th is opeb." This is less than 48 hours from the scheduled start time. Another last minute cancellation from DJ and Wilson Landscape Design. I send him a few texts, including: "Please make the 12th work by any means necessary. You can imagine my disappointment after clearing two saturdays for this, with my wedding in between." I get this response from DJ, which is extremely unprofessional, especially given our appointments that he confirmed (this is where the earlier text I noted comes into play): "I told you from day one that we do not work on Saturday.. I had it scheduled for two weeks ago and the stone company could not deliver.. I have no control of them.. I will see when I get to office if Monday is available" So instead of an apology, I get that text. So my last text to DJ at Wilson Landscape Design was: " You did mention you don't typically do Saturdays, but in both cases you said you would make it work and scheduled those dates with me. Let me know ASAP pls." Needless to say, I won't be proceeding with Wilson Landscape Design. They gave me a reasonable quote (it took them almost 3 weeks for the quote), but after two months of getting the run-around, plus with the lack of professionalism exhibited by DJ, I will have to pass. It seems that many are happy with their work, but if you are reading this, I hope you will reconsider whether or not you should even call them. An apology from DJ and or Wilson Landscape Design would be nice, but it's still two months later and I need to restart the process of getting quotes.

They were out of town. However, when they got back - WOW. The job done was stunning. It was basically a clean-up operation. 1) Trim and cleanout (grass) Front Beds – West 2) Remove and clean south side bed – South 3) Clean North gate area - North 4) Trim and cleanout (grass) Back Beds – East But, they even raised the canopy on the main tree in the front yard. I never mentioned because I wasn't aware that they did that too. Would DEFINITELY use again. UPDATED 072814: See latest review. Unfortunately, it's not good.

The only problem with the entire transaction was that Angie's List promised a two day turnaround for the company to contact am and I waited a week before reaching out to them myself. They indicated that they were not aware of the two day promise. Once in touch with the company everything was terrific. They were very responsive once we made contact. We emailed a few times to schedule the service and answer my questions. They were available in about a week from the time we made the appointment. The guys wee supposed to arrive at 9 am and they knocked at the door shorty after 8 am. This worked fine for me and was a welcome surprise form the typical work crews running late. I wanted them to clean up the leaves that had collected along a fence in a backyard valley. They started work immediately and worked so quickly and effectively that they removed the leaves from the entire backyard, removed additional brush, and moved a few wood piles that needed attention. I was very surprised by their efficiency, work ethic, professionalism and desire to complete the job instead of doing the minimum I would be happy with, I would recommend them to anyone and will use them again for future projects.

Therebwere no dos and donts.. I was more than pleased and I'm sorry I dont remember exactly from start to finish.We communicated through e-mail, agreed at a ,date and time, and all went well .They were punctual. respectful and easy to work with.

It went very well . The 2 men arrived . I walked the yard with them and gave them directions on what I wanted done in th 4 hrs of service I purchased. The 2 men didn't speak English fluently but they understood what I wanted done. They did everything I wanted done in the 4 hours. I felt they did a great job.

They sent out 2 people for 3 hours. The reason it didn't work out well is because I thought I would receive 3 people for 2 hours, therefore it threw off my schedule. Was told I would receive a landscape specialist and only received 2 laborers.

It was difficult to set up because the response to their offer was overwhelming. However, it was well worth waiting for.

Workmen arrived on time, were professional, asked questions when needed,. all in all a great experience.

It went well. I felt like I didn't have enough work for them to do but they did a; good job.
