Wilson Landscape Design

iI really liked Mr. Wilson when I talked to him on the phone and when he came to the house. However, my complaint is the contact after he came to the house. I do not know if it is just me but I could not log on to his webpage because the spam code said to imput at 90 seconds. It always denied me access based on the fact that I was going over 90 seconds. I even had someone time me and I was under 90 seconds every time. I then went to the e-mail that was on his website and it bounced back every time. I actually had to contact Angie's List office to inform them that I was having problems. They gave me another e-mail and I sent two e-mails to Mr. Wilson and heard back from him on the third. The plans and the estimate were e-mailed to me. I have a 23 inch monitor and I still had problems reading the plans. Print them out was not much better. The cost was more then other estimates by more then a 3rd but that could be because of fuel costs having gone up so much. Not sure. I had asked for a outdoor kitchen type area and estimate based on doing things in stages. I really didn't see that was done. I would still like to use Mr. Wilson, I like his pictures of his work.

I signed up for a "Day of Landscaping" through an Angie's List special. What a great deal! They showed up on time, asked what was needed and the job was quickly done. We paid a little extra for them to bring 20 bags of mulch, which was well worth it. I'm very impressed with the quality of work and the people involved! I would highly recommend them!!

Wilson Landscaping sent a crew of three to honor their "big deal." The guys were punctual, listened to our requests, did a great job, and hauled off the debris. We needed a pond installed and a rose bed cleaned up. They were skillful and careful, and matched the style of our existing landscaping. I will definitely use them again.

I purchased the $699 for 20 hours of labor and landscaped design. The initial visit with DJ was delayed a bit, but I expected that since they had several big deals going on. When everything was scheduled, I was really pleased with the work done. Antonio and Mundo were absolutely great. They never stopped working and I feel that I got my moneys worth of work from them. They fixed two breaks in my sprinkler system and then replaced the pave stone that sat on top of one of the breaks. They also did some repair work to my fence and driveway gate. The yard clean up was thorough. They also laid down mulch and did some planting. All of it looks great. They were polite and cleaned up after they finished. Instead of having to hire a landscaper, fence repair, sprinkler repair and then pave stone repair company, I got it all done at once. I will use them again in the future.

Completed the work as requested in a timely & professional manner. Everything looked good. Would definitely use this company again if needed.

It went very well. 3 guys showed up and worked as hard as they could for 3 hours. They got everything done that we requested and left the job site clean when complete.

Went great. They were on time, did what I asked and did it well. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Wilson Landscape Design never called me back.

After I paid the coupon premium of $699, John Wilson called and I described what was needed including the brush and branches, and two yards of garden soil to level my garden (a filled in swimming pool). When the crew arrived, I toured the lot with the foreman and described the job to him. The four man crew spent about five hours cutting and hauling the brush to my curbside and stacking it to what I described as the spec called for by the city. The foreman said they don't haul brush. The crew brought about one yard of garden soil in wheelbarrow loads and leveled it on my garden. They later invoiced my $75 for the soil. I thought Waste Management would take about three yards of brush and branches. I estimated the pile to be about three cubic yards, expected WM to handle it. It turned out that I had been wrong about how much WM would take; the city's contract apparently is only one yard, so they refused to take the load until the regional manager called back after three calls, and agreed to take the load. It had been my mistake to not make sure of the load parameters, even though I had called and warned WM that the load would be too much for their regular waste pickup. Overall, I was impressed by the crew; they went right to work and worked through till they finished the job. The one yard of soil covered less than I had expected, but it did level the garden, so I couldn't gripe too much about that. DO: Ensure you have the haulage covered.

I am unhappy [Update on 1/31/13, one week after services were performed] : We have been exchanging emails and John had planned to come by the property a couple of times but has not been able to make it. I told him i am intrigued by his response "There is not much that they do not know or how to do correctly" . I definitely dont think that was the case on the work on my house. I disagree that i did not call or email him before writing the review. I left him a voicemail and wrote a review after. Update on 5/28/2013 John visited. we looked for solutions after briefly understanding the miscommunication on both sides. He arranged a rather quick stump for the trees needing to be removed. I paid for stumping out the trees. his crew came in and installed the new trees. John replaced the same trees, albeit much younger trees at no cost to me.He was extremely caring about the service his business provided. I realize stuff happens and am happy with everything he has done to resolve this. He also gave me a free trim of the front yard and is now simply pending sods. knowing that this business owner cares about his customer makes me want to take up a future deal with him.

They were not able to do the job and were very honest with us about that.

Sent a crew of 3 for about 2.5 hours. They worked hard and did everything I asked, which was primarily removing 2 large dying yaupon trees. They were unable to get the full taproot of the larger one out, but they tried everything they could. I'll have to get a stump grinder to finish it off. Also trimmed all the bushes and cleaned up. Good work. I recommend the company.

We purchased the deal to have a tree cut down. The tree was too close to the house so they were unable to remove it. They were very nice and very apologetic though. I would use them in the future.

The service was good. The contractor was very nice. He came out to survey the job first then came out to do the work. None of the workers spoke English very well and they got the project done about an hour sooner than what I had paid for: I could’ve given them more work to do but it was hard to communicate with them. They did a good job overall.

Guys ripped stuff out well, but had to recall to get all the roots and such removed. Good deal for tearing out shrubs.

The project went well and I was pleased. The work was completed as planned.

Not satisfied. Just did the weeding. Really, $249 for weeding. The owner did call me back and said he would look at the west side of my house. I didnt hear from hear for one month. I called him back and left message. Never heard from him again.

Not knowing how long it would take to do all I wanted, I presented the 3 man crew a list of the big have to have projects. Everything was finished quickly (less than 2 hours). They then proceeded to take care of everything my yard needed!! They did a wonderful job-I am more than pleased!

Not well. The owner had too many excuses...Not showing-up at our first appointment and having to reschedule, not showing up on time to our second appointment, the estimate for his services took over a month and a half to get me, once the estimate was received...the week long labor that was purchased through the Angies List Big Deal was NOT included...etc. I've got to be honest, I'm sure that John is a nice guy and I'm sure he's done some nice work for some people...But I am very busy person Corporate Executive and my time is extremely valuable. I do not appreciate it when contractors waste my time, make excuses and/or blame others.

Called to confirm appointment, arrived on-time and did an excellent job.

The owner missed his first appointment with us. Once we got together to review the drainage issues, he was friendly, easy to talk to, and full of ideas on how to address the issue. A plan was made that seemed sound, thorough, and economical. Unfortunately, the work did not happen on the days he said it would happen. I never saw him actually at the work site with his crew. When I tried to discuss part of the plan which had not been executed with his team, I was told they knew nothing about it. On numerous occasions, I could not reach the owner by phone to discuss the work. I left messages on his cell phone and at his work answering service and did not hear back from him. He called a few weeks later and said there had been a misunderstanding with his work crew and a pipe had to be extended as previously discussed. This was done at my home without pre-arrangement of time. No notice was given that they would even be at my property on that day. I have yet to be able to fully review the work done with the owner because I cannot reach him by phone. Overall, the experience has been frustrating. I really liked the owner when I met him and felt I was in good hands. The subsequent lack of communication anf followup made me feel that he was not invested in the job since he was already paid (via my coupon deal bought through Angie's list online prior to the work).

Not as expected. It was difficult to get return calls and though I did get a estimate for other work we were considering, I did not get a clear picture of what work I could get done under the Angie's List deal. The deal was for 6 hours of labor. I decided to have them clean out and mulch the beds and prepare them for color, but was not able to get a commitment from them on when they could come out to do the work. I bought the Angie's List for $249.00 in April. I called Wilson's Landscaping two or three times in May but did not receive a return call. June 22 I received an email from them stating that I had an Angie's List deal and June 23 I received an email requesting that I advise when I would be available for them to come out. We arranged for DJ to come out on June 26. DJ came out and we discussed the various things I would like done in the yard, most of which he said could not be covered under the Angie's list deal which was for 6 hours of labor. I received an estimate on July 3 for $2600.00+ with a line item for Angie's list deal to clean beds and trim. I called twice in July and once in August advising that we could not do the other work, but would like to use the deal to clean beds, add mulch and trim. We knew we would likely have to pay for materials and asked how much it would be for them to bring it or how much we would need t get if they wanted us to already have it. I did not receive a response. I subsequently sent an email but received no response to that either . According to the coupon, the deal expired in October and no work was done under this deal. This the 2nd time I purchased a deal and did not get the expected service. I won't be purchasing any more deals.

We spent several weeks shopping around with several companies, and kept coming back to Wilson Landscape with questions about the job, what type of grass to install, how much was really necessary, etc. They were very patient with us throughout the process, and didn't take offense that we were asking questions about how they were doing some things differently than other companies. They also worked with us on how to modify the job to fit our budget. The work was done in the time quoted, and very professionally. We are very pleased with their services, and would definitely use their services again, and recommend them to other people.

Very well. I had sent them my list of things to do, and that helped a lot. They separated the tasks and got finished in exactly the time allotted.
