RMC Construction

Reginald Anderson (Reggie) of RMC Construction picked up a garage entry door for me from Lowe’s on Friday, November 11, 2022. He agreed that his company would install the door within a few days. He was recommended by another business that handled a damage claim for me. After he brought out the door that afternoon, he said that he would install the door himself. Reggie removed the old door, stood up the new door, and the new door fell and was scratched. It was clear that this was not a one-man job. When he attempted to put back some of the framing boards, he damaged them because the nail gun that he used was not powerful enough to penetrate the boards. It was evident that installing doors was not Reggie’s expertise. He had to call one of his workers to go purchase a new nail gun and some more hardy plank boards. After more than three hours and the sun had gone down, Reggie finished the door. My mistake was that I paid him before I could properly inspect the door. The next morning, I inspected the door and saw what a shoddy job that Reggie did. His workmanship was extremely poor and there were several things that needed to be corrected (see photos). The framing boards were not aligned and even, including one that was not flush against the wall. Reggie stuck pieces of wood on the inside of the frame of the door and garage structure to hold it in place. It did not appear that these pieces of wood would be strong enough to secure the frame and door. I texted Reggie the next day (11/12/22) regarding the items on the door that needed to be corrected (i.e., align boards, caulk/paint new boards, secure frame/door with stronger materials, etc.). I did not hear from Reggie and called him about a week later and he told me that his schedule was tight. I asked him to put me on the schedule the week after Thanksgiving and he said that would not be a problem. I did not hear from Reggie and called him on Tuesday, 11/29/22. Again, he said that he was not available and that the cost of the paint was on me. I told Reggie that we discussed painting the new door, but that he damaged the boards that were painted and replaced them with ones that were not. I told him that I expected him to put the boards back in the condition that they were in. I reached out to the contact of the company that recommended Reggie on Monday, 12/5/22 and was told that Reggie was on a job out of state. He said that he would have Reggie call me the following week (12/12/22). It has been more than five weeks since Reggie came out to install the door and he has not contacted me or returned to address the repairs. It is clear that he is not reputable and stands behind his work. Reginald Anderson of RMC Construction is definitely someone that I would not recommend.
