Had paid for 500 foot and required an addition 600 for the job, which therefore cost an additional $600. The job was not at my current residence, but another(that I could not physically be there) and they were very good about calling and discussing or getting approval for every step of the job.

I didn't realize that this was a supplemental product. I apparently was supposed to already have insulation in place. I also have an old house and was told that the machine uses a lot of electricity and that my houses power supply would be insufficient.

Of course I had to purchase more which was more than double of what I originally paid and I watched and only received approximately 4 or 5 bags of insulation of which I found out later from others that that may have covered the original $500 worth of insulation I purchased. I think I may have received $500 worth of insulation for $300, not the "big deal" but I guess an ok deal.

The provider has been really good with initiating the communication and appointments. Technician is very professional and honest. He came to give me an estimate but also gave me his honest opinion that the fact my attic is sitting on top of my garage, it does not need to be insulated. Overall, I'm happy with the provider and would definitely recommend to others.

They came out to install the insulation in my attic, but advised that I needed additional materials to fully insulate my attic. I purchased the additional insulation for $500 and they completed the job. As they were leaving, they advised that I had a lot of leftover material. My brother later went up in the attic to see how well they completed the job, he noticed that there were many spots left untouched in my attic.

We responded to the "special offer" of $500 of attic insulation for $99 which equates to 500 sq ft of insulation. We wanted to insulate an area of our attic over the garage. This area does not have any insulation on the attic floor. They were unwilling to use the allotted amount of insulation in our area. They just want to overlay existing blown-in insulation with a little more. We do not understand the difference of putting one foot of insulation over 500 sq ft versus 2 feet over 250 sq ft. Same amount of insulation. This is a come-on. DO NOT buy this deal. It sounds like they just want to "up-sell" you a lot of additional services.

I have cleaned and sealed tile grout, and it is a tedious process. Cleaning the grout usually takes a lot of scrubbing, sometimes with strong acidic chemicals. Sealing the grout requires applying sealer to the grout lines, and wiping it off if it gets on any tile. The contractor did not do any of this. He just used a machine to swish around some water. He said the water had cleaner and sealer in it. His work took about 30 minutes. At the end, my grout did not look any cleaner. Jack, the contractor, said it would look cleaner when it was dry in an hour, and ran out the door as fast as he could. Several hours later, the grout did not look any cleaner, and my expensive tile floor was covered in a sticky film. I called the office, They talked with Jack, and now his story was that everything would be all right when it dried overnight. The next morning, my expensive tile floor was still covered in sticky film. I talked with the office, and they said that Jack was the only contractor that handled tile cleaning, and they could not send anyone more experience. I was very stressed that my expensive tile floor had been ruined. Jack came out to fix things that afternoon. I asked to see the sealer product that he had used. The directions on the bottle clearly said that it was to be applied only to the grout, and wiped off the tile while it was still wet. Somehow, Jack did manage to get rid of the sticky film so we can walk on the floor again, and it appears that my tile did not suffer any damage. In summary, I paid $149, my grout is not cleaned or sealed, and I had 2 days of stress, believing that my expensive tile floor might be ruined. I called Angie's List Big Deal Desk, and asked them to stop offering this deal. It is a scam that is exploiting Angie's List's good reputation.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal for our grout to be cleaned and sealed. They came out and their cleaning skills involved putting down a bunch of water that they stated had the cleaner and sealant in it. They pushed the water around with some sort of a machine. The grout was not cleaned or sealed. My expensive tile floor was covered with a sticky scum.

They responded right away and worked with me on a date for the service. They came out today during the time frame given. Two men worked probably an hour and it was done. There are a few areasI wish they had gotten cleaner but in all fairness the tile is five years old and I didn't expect miracles. It looks far cleaner than it did. I am satisfied.

My wife and I purchased our first house and knew it was going to require some TLC to bring it into this decade. We had a short window of time to complete major updates to all three bathrooms before we moved in, so we needed to find a company who was going to get the job done with no excuses. We interviewed at least a dozen different contractors for the job and were just not convinced we found the right company. Then I happened to buy an Angie?s list coupon for attic insulation from High End Flooring and when setting the appointment told Sandy of our need for extensive bathroom remodels. I was advised they also handle major construction projects, so I asked they send someone over to provide an estimate. Ed showed up and we immediately built a strong rapport. He was honest, upfront, and guaranteed all of his work. We conducted a walk through and received an estimate based on the materials we had described. The next step was to go to his show room where we were able to pick from a great selection of high end materials. We even took some very unique tile we found at a different store and Ed was able to track it down and get us a better price then the original store. After we finalized our materials for the three bathrooms we had our price, which was right in line with his original estimate Ed provided at the house. We liked what we saw and decided to move forward with High End Flooring. From the very beginning Ed?s crew was very polite and respectful of our home. It was obvious they were not there to get in and get out, but rather focus on the quality of their work. This being our first home I had a lot of questions and fortunately Ed?s guys had a lot of patience because they would go out of their way to explain the work. I was pleased to have them come ask how I wanted something to look rather than just assuming and moving on. The crew was first class and with all unexpected complications that can occur with home renovation these guys came through. The master bathroom has been transformed into a palace. We chose a very distinct tile for the shower and knew it would need a true professional to have it done right. They nailed it!!! We have had plumbers, interior designers, and friends compliment the amazing job High End Floorings has done, saying they didn?t think anyone in Houston was able to do this type of work. From the travertine floors to the marble counter tops the end result is incredible! All bathrooms were completed on time and on budget. High end Flooring exceeded my expectations not only because Ed answers the phone anytime you need to speak with him, but because they turned our big dreams and modest budget into a reality. I truly want to thank High End Flooring for all of their help, and I know I will be using them again.

My first experience with Angie's was a bad one. I believe the details in the "Big Deal" were unclear and misleading. The insulation service provider explained that, if there was no existing insulation on top of which they could spray their foam, they would charge double or triple what I prepaid. Of course none of this information was made available to me before you charges my credit card! Bait and Switch if I ever saw one. I will be VERY wary going forward with any "Big Deals". Extremely disappointed.

The wording on the Big Deal led us to believe that the majority of the cost would be covered by the deal, unfortunately that did not prove to be the case, we still had to pay several hundred dollars and likely would not have purchased the Big Deal if we had understood the true cost of the project prior to purchasing. Ed worked with us and had some flexibility on the price and the staff in the showroom spent a long time helping us select the right tile. Our order came in quickly, however they called us at 6 p.m. Friday and wanted to begin installation Saturday morning. The installers arrived promptly at their scheduled time and were very professional. They did a good job with the installation. They did misjudge where to cut the carpet at one of the doors, so it does not look quite right, fortunately we are planning on replacing that carpet in the spring. Overall we are satisfied with the product and services received.

We were going to buy the Big Deal that was $100 for $500 worth of flooring in one room. Well if a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is. We would have ended up paying a lot more to get all of the flooring we needed. Because I did not actually use their services, I don't feel I can give an accurate review.

I purchased an Angies List deal for $99 for 500 sq ft of insulation. The company was quick to call back and schedule an appointment which I appreciate. According to the deal, I was also expecting a general assessment of my insulation needs and suggestions on how to improve the energy efficiency of the home. Upon arrival, the individual that came to the house was difficult to understand. He asked me where I wanted the insulation and I asked for his advice. We looked in the attic in the main home and the attic above the finished 4 car garage. I think he told me I needed it both places but I'm not sure. On the main house, he said I only had 6" of insulation and needed 12" (or more if I wanted). I had 1025 sq ft that needed to be reinsulated. Since I had already purchased 500 sq ft, I needed to purchase 525 more. I asked about the quality of the insulation and did not get a good answer. He basically said it is top quality (which I doubt). So him and his partner shoot in 6" more of insulation. I found this odd since if it is supposed to be 12" and I only had 6", why am I paying full price for 6" additional insulation when shouldn't it cost half as much? If that was the case, the original deal should have almost covered the cost since I did not read anywhere about only adding 6" of insulation. Anyways, they shot insulation everywhere. We had a few items stored in the attic and they were covered in insulation. They did not bother moving any of the items, including suit cases, bags of wrapping paper etc... They just covered them and left a bit of a mess. The whole project took about 40 mins. Before they left, I was expecting a quote to now finish the attic above the 4 car finished garage but I got nothing. No follow-ups, no energy assessment to say the least, and not the best experience overall. We're looking to get new wood floors soon but I am confident when I say that High Ends Flooring won't be on my list when shopping for that project.

This did not go well. They listed 500 sq. ft. of attic insulation for $99. Great price. I signed up for the service. The appointment was scheduled and they came out as expected. I explained that I had a back bedroom and bathroom that were cold in the winter and warm in the summer. I showed the lead man the space and said I had measured the area and it was roughly 400-420 sq. ft. The lead man went into my attic and looked around then came down and wanted me to purchase about 1000 sq. ft. with a significantly higher cost. I told him I signed up for 500 sq. ft. at $99. He said that was only for a stand alone building and did not apply to my home. He said I would have to call the office to get it approved. So I ordered him to leave. They offered exactly what I wanted but evidently did not want the business if it was too small of a job.

I purchased the $99 coupon for $500 worth of attic insulation. We had had squirrels in the attic that had burrowed in the existing insulation so I just wanted that area filled in. This information was included in the email I sent to them when arranging a time for them to come out to the house. I told my husband before they arrived that I had a feeling they were going to try to up sell to us and I knew I did not want anymore than the 500 sf. The service man arrived and indicated that the 500 sf had to be a discreet area. This was not mentioned in the ad. He also suggested we could have AC problems if we did not do the whole area. He said we needed 12 inches of insulation throughout otherwise it would not be even etc etc. He was willing to give us an estimate for the rest of the house which at 99 cents a square foot would likely have been in the $700 - $900 range. I thanked him and told him I thought it best not to do any of the work. I then called the company to get my refund and explained why. They offered me a discount which I declined. I had to call Angie's List to get a refund which I have done. All in all, I don't appreciate companies coming into my home trying to use scare tactics to sell more products. The people were polite enough but I do feel they should honor the coupons as written. When a customer says no thanks, they should do what they have been paid to do and move on. Lessons learned.
