Interior Design Studio & Showroom offering a wide variety of furniture, antiques, art, accessories, linens and bedding, lighting, fabrics, custom pieces & unique carefully selected pieces from various markets around the world with helpful service from the sales staff of 4 interior designers. The showroom is open to the public as well as to the trade. The interior award winning design studio has 5 full time professional designers, offering full-service design work with over 30 years of experience and knowledge.

As a result of this experience, I would never refer Connie to anyone, my husband and I made a terrible investment in her and her team- luckily the rug turned out as I designed it but it was over 3 months late and my family was not able to enjoy it during the holidays. It was a learning experience for us and reaffirmed that one should always go with their gut instinct- I should've terminated our relationship after the first meeting when they presented terrible design choices. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and paid greatly for doing so. Only hire Connie and her team for the following reasons: 1) You have an unlimited budget 2) You have unlimited patience and do not have ANY sort of timeline expectations 3) You dont mind having to reach out to her continually for updates- and being charged for her responding to you via email or phone 4) Dont expect any level of customer service
Description of Work: I hired Connie and her team to perform interior design services in my home. We provided them with a budget, an expected timeline and expectations on how we would work together, communication frequency, etc. Specifically, we wanted help with a rug for our formal living room, large art work and some additional accent furniture for the room. Our initial meeting went well, they provided us with some rug sample books to review with them so that they could get a sense of our "style." After this meeting they would then develop a room design and provide us with some rug, art and furniture options within our budget and within our timeline (we hired them in early August and wanted this room completed in time for Christmas.) We reached an agreement and provided a $1500 deposit- which was required for them to "work with us." Unfortunatley, this was the only good interaction- every future interaction after the initial meeting was very difficult and negative. My husband & I had to continually touch base with them for progress updates because they were terrible about keeping us in the loop with expected timeframes. When they were finally ready to provide us with their room design and recommendations for the rug, art and furniture- it was as if they designed this room for another family! The rug was not at all close to the ones I had showed that I liked in our initial meeting and the furniture they suggested was very industrial (not suited for a formal living room of our style). Worst yet was that we were being charged for every email that we sent them and for any conversation- so when they showed up to our follow up meeting with their terrible options- we had already racked up over $500 in "research fees and for their time responding to our emails and phone calls." I was very disappointed and expressed that to them, they reassured me that they had a "better understanding of my style" after the 2nd meeting and would have more "appropriate options" in line with my overall design in the next meeting. I should have just cut my losses and terminated our relationship then but since I already felt invested and had already provided the $1500 deposit plus had an invoice for $500 I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and moved forward. BIG MISTAKE! The proceeding meetings were filled with frustration and disappointments, I finally ended up having to design a CUSTOM RUG which was way over budget and despite their PROMISE to arrive in time for Christmas it was over 3 months late! After we PAID for the rug and paid all their invoices in order to have our rug delivered, Connie (the owner) decided that she would FIRE US as clients because she felt as if nothing that she or her team did would ever "satisfy us." I was so disappointed in her and her lack of professionalism AND in the fact that we had already invested close to $10,000 and we still did not have our rug or our art. Along the entire process, I was very clear in our expectations, sent detailed emails with questions, seeking updates and by the time they got around to finally responding- continually received incomplete responses, and received more bad news with missed deadlines!

Unfortunately, a great site such as this, which helps businesses, can be abused, for whatever reasons, and on occasions such as this, incorrect information is given. We are particularly disappointed due to the fact this is our first negative review and we pride ourselves with excellent customers service (not to mention going above and beyond for all our clients, and this particular clients levels of needs). We must clarify this negative & inaccurate review and to do so we pulled all our records and facts which we can list for you. After numerous interviews with us, we gave the Walkups a letter of agreement on June 20, 2011 and it was not signed and dated until Sept 9th, so the Aug. date is incorrect. Also, the "$1500 deposit" is not accurate; it was a $1000 retainer to be applied on the final invoice. The first meeting with them was on Sept23 and they provided us with a spread sheet with a $5000 budget for the living room. Wanting a rug, possible side table, art, accessories… We responded a week later with layout options & pricing on different rugs & furniture. The 2nd meeting was on Oct 10 and we went over the options. We had to find a 10ft x 14’ rug to fit their budget and after showing them all the moderate priced options, they did not like them so, on Oct 13th we sent a rendering and price on a custom rug we had shown them. Oct 18, we presented new options on rugs, furniture, chandelier & pricing options. Nov 3rd, we ordered a sample of the custom rug and gave them the lead time on the “strike off”. They had not made a decision and we explained yarn stocks, lead times & that pricing can change at first of the year. As for the art selection, we had a large piece arrive to the showroom damaged but they liked it so we ordered a new one and being that it was hand painted they didn’t like the new one as much so we offered to repair the original piece at our expense. We responded calmly & patiently to their demands, indecision & endless emails but it became clear that we needed to terminate them as a client. We did so only upon completion of what we agreed to do and after fixing the canvas they liked, and installation of the rug. I should point out the charges were $1550 for a 3 month design fee with the $1000 retainer applied to that price. They also received a $800 piece of art for $375 and a $6000 rug for $4100, so their savings alone paid for the design fee. We are disappointed in this whole experience and regret that it comes down to responding to negative and false claims.
