Blackmon Mooring Houston

I used them in the past for big clean up jobs during my employment as Claims Examiner at a large moving establishment here in Houston. They always performed excellent service for a fair price and very professional and experienced employees. I would recommend them highly. The dates are prior 2011.

This is an honest review, so that hopefully someone else doesn't waster their money. I was quoted $190 over the phone for up to 20 ducts. The invoice after completing was $383. My mistake for not having asked for an email quote, but it felt like the classic bate and switch. I don't mind spending money, but as I inspected the ducts that all were suppose to be cleaned, they looked EXACTLY like the dusty condition they were before Blackmon arrived. Run your fingers through the rim of the duct and the same dust is there as before. If there ever was a snake oil sales company, this is it. The company isn't very informed either. The person tried to convince me that my electrostatic filter, a Goodman product, was and quot;heating my system and melting the plastic, creating a costly mistake in the futureand quot; to try and sell me a UV filtration system. I think Goodman might know just a little more than a traveling road show. Never again. I am disappointed that Angie's List hasn't help provide quality vendors. This will be the third contractor from Angies List that has been unacceptable.

The system they used to clean the inside of the ducts is basically an air hose connected to an air compressor with little rubber hoses (wands) on the end of the air hose that agitates and blows the dust and lint lose. They then use the truck vacuum to suck the dust from the duct. Honestly I'm not sure how well it worked, but the whole setup is something I could have done my self with a soft brush and an air compressor and Shop vac. They did not tape off any of the other air vents to increase suction in the one they were cleaning. They said this system is safe for soft flexible ducting, and will not tear the plastic like the brush type will. I have mostly ridged ducting and think that a brush and vacuum is better than the Blackmon Mooring device. They did clean all the air vents, and replace the air filters, but that is something I could have done. It was not worth the $300+ that I paid, maybe more like $100. I would shop around!

I've had the misfortune of three water leaks in copper pipes in my foundation. This results in water spilling out behind the sheetrock. Oh, did I mention that we have handscraped, distressed, hardwood floors-$$$$? These guys get to your house within in an hour. They know exactly what to do, they have a moisture meters to figure out where the walls and floors are wet. They pull out the baseboards, drill holes in the sheetrock, spray anti-mold chemicals and haul in the blowers and dehumidifiers. They schedule follow up visits to monitor the wetness, they always call first and arrive when they say they will. I credit them for saving my hardwood floors...TWICE!! Also, this tends to be a pretty stressful time for homeowners, and the guys are always super friendly, professional and make you feel comfortable with the process. They'll work with your insurance company, too.

Jorge was incredibly professional- he showed us photos of where they air handler was not properly sealed and how a 1970's style and quot;fresh airand quot; intake was adding a lot of dust, pollution and humidity to the air in the home. He and his crew were thorough and courteous and made sure to put down tarps and plastic to cover anything that might get dust on it from the cleaning and cleaned up any dust that made it to the floor. They repositioned the registers and explained how the various rooms shapes and presence of ceiling fans affected how you direct the air flow. I would not hesitate to call them again. They were completely upfront about the costs of every service so there was no question about what I was going to pay. UPDATE: After having our Attic coated with Radiance and noticing the incredible amount of paint odor that was being brought into the house when the A/C ran we had Air Tech come out and do an assessment. It appears that the work that was described to us about the fresh air duct was not done as related. The air duct is still pulling in air and that is the primary source of the intrusion. This was very disappointing as Jorge seemed very sincere and told us there would and quot;cut it offand quot; but instead they just tried to plug the end of it. Now I am having to spend more money to have the work done properly AND deal with the headache of the smell of the coating until the technician can make it out. As such I have reduced the rating to B- I would go lower but the duct cleaning (which is what they were called out to do) was done quite well and they did clean up afterward. For any and quot;add-onsand quot; though I say CAVEAT EMPTOR!

The technicians were punctual, professional, and very hard working. My house started off with dirty, mildewed air ducts and registers. But it ended up sparkling clean!!

Used them for years. Very happy with their service. Have used others before, but Blackmon Mooring is by far the best have used them for years. The technician Roberto Arguello was excellent, clean, professional and could not have provided better service.

Wilbert Orozco was the professional person who did an assessment and then a cleaning of the lint buildup in my dryer. He used hoses attached to the back of his truck for dustless cleaning . He tested the dryer afterwards too. He offered quotes on other services available also. I would recommend to anyone who wanted a fast professional job done.

The service went well. They cleaned out all of the vents removing cat hair, dander and wood particles from our flooring installation. They also gave us tips on how to use the air conditioner in our new home. They were very helpful and on time for the appointment. The price charged was very close to the estimate provided over the phone based on the number of vents our home has. It was less than competitors and we feel it was fair for the services rendered. They were easy to get in touch with and we had to reschedule our appointment and they were great to accomodate the request.

Two workers from Blackmon Mooring arrived within the provided time window. They are very professional. Many times, with deliveries or other workers, they walked into our house with shoes on (which I hated, but too hesitate to tell them to take their shoes off). Workers from Blackmon Mooring come into our house with shoes on BUT they have a plastic wrapped around their shoes as soon as they walked into our house. (I was very pleased and impressed with that). We did some clean up, picking stuff, clothes off the floor. Workers are great in removing some furniture in the room, clean the carpet then put the furniture back in place. AWESOME! Workers finished the carpet cleaning service within an hour. The area they need to clean is about 800 square feet. Overall, very satisfied. Oh and, they customer services open on weekends. satisfied satisfied and satisfied.

They got here a little later than expected. They seemed nice, professional. We just major floor damage on first floor and was getting new flooring and dust was issue everywhere. we needed to have AC unit cleaned from all the dust from construction. Thought they would just clean vents, but then they said in order to get complete clean that they would need to clean compressor and unit in attic (both units since we have 2 floors). so cost went up of course - and we had more than 20 vents. So if we didn't have the complete system cleaned, the vent cleaning would be temporary. I needed the master bedroom (on bottom floor) carpet cleaned and nothing was picked up and cleaned under. They cleaned all around furniture. The stairs and the hallway upstairs were cleaned and looked good. Carpets looked good, I was just disappointed that nothing was cleaned under. a $300 estimate over the phone ended up being over $1000 - so I was sure it was done right and completely. pictures of units in attic were provided after cleaning to view, however, a and quot;beforeand quot; picture wasn't provided to compare to.

Everything went as planned and I am very pleased with the service.

The technicians were on time and very polite. They brought enough manpower to do the job quickly and thoroughly. The air ducts in the school had not been cleaned for a very long time due to previous poor management. They made sure to not only clean them but to look for mold to make sure children were not breathing that in. We have not had any problems since and the air seems to be clean. Nothing is coming out of the vents anymore.

They were punctual and the one tech remembered cleaning our carpets two years ago. One of the carpets had quite a bit of hair spray on it and the tech managed to get it clean after trying three different cleaners. They moved the smaller furniture and left the larger items like the beds and dressers, as I had requested. The work took a little over an hour and I am very satisfied with the results and would definitely use them again.

Always research a company thoroughly before hiring even if its at a time when your most vulnerable, i.e. fire. Especially if they are at the scene making a lot of promises to go right by you.

Immediately upon their arrival they began trying to sell me additional services that I did not want (dryer vent cleaning) and then I realized that cleaning the AC unit was not included in the estimate either. I get my AC regularly serviced by another company and it was due for service, but evidently it costs extra to simply get the AC unit vacuumed along with the ducts. The equipment they used was not very thourough compared to some of the ads I have seen on TV where huge brushes are used. This was a few little air nozzles that blow around when the compressed air is on. I could not tell if they were getting anything out of the ducts. Since I had never had my ducts cleaned and my house is about 17 years old and we had done a construction project recently, I was expecting there to be a lot of dust in the ducts. The service men were knowledgeable, they noticed right away that there had been construction based on the dust in the attic, (which is why they wanted to charge me extra to clean the AC units) and they inspected the ducts for mold and reported that they were clear of mold. They were very careful about working around my belongings, removing the duct covers and cleaning any dust that fell. But overall, I do not think the equipment they used was really capable of thouroughly cleaning the ducts. I have not noticed any reduction in the amount of dust in the house. And I cannot say that anyone's allergies have improved after the cleaning. I was told that I would not need to clean my ducts again for 5 years. They also told me that I shouldn't use the high quality allergy air filters because they make the AC unit work too hard. My reply was that my AC units are actually very efficient, I have a very low electricity bill, and I am not going to sacrifice my allergies and health for my AC. Those cheap, see-through filters don't stop anything. So of course if I used them I would have more dust in my ducts.

The crew arrived on time, performed the work efficiently and cleanly, taking care to protect the furnishings and door jambs etc. They did not push unwanted services and we found the two young men were very polite and friendly.

The work was done professionally, and I feel that I paid a fair price. However, in my mind, cleaning the air ducts meant cleaning the system. But the coil, and another two or three items in the system were not included in the air duct price. I was surprised by the charges added to the air duct charge. In my mind I was expecting to pay closer to $300 than $800. I don't know if any of the companies give advanced warning that there may be more than just the ducts to consider, but a heads-up during the original call would have been nice. Also, I just wanted to get the job done, so I did not get multiple quotes. Finally, the cleaning has had a positive effect, reducing my allergy problems significantly.

Blackmon Mooring did come out in a timely manner; however, it took about 12 days for the drying process to be completed. I later found out that this was totally unreasonable. Every time they sent out people to check on progress, they sent different people so I never knew who was really in charge. They eventually got the work done but it took entirely too long and I felt the workers they sent to me were not very professional.

I had just purchased a 45 year old house and the A/C return is to close to the wood burning fireplace. The guys from Blackmon Mooring worked very hard and cleaned it thoroughly. The duct work was round, rigid ducting and other companies were unable to clean it at all. Theair quality in the house has improved considerably since cleaning.

I've used Blackmon Mooring in the past for carpet cleaning. That always do a very good job, and have always sent two people to do the job. Just be wary of the attempt to upsell more than you need, but they don't pressure you about it. Really great service and very courteous and professional technicians.

It had never been done before and we have 3 pets. The service guys called before they came, were 20 minutes earlly, evaluated what was needed, covered furniture/carpets, worked quickly, cleaned up completely. I can already tell the difference in air flow and how quickly our house cools. I would definitely use them again.

I had a 20 year old carpet which was tracked by four paramedics who had grease on their boots and I could never get it out. Mr. Mike Mooran from their company came and got it out and also in addition to that made my entire carpet look like new again. He was great. I rate them very highly. I have been using them for 40 years and I would continue to use them in the future.
