We could not have found better movers to help us through this stressful time than A Better Tripp. Our bank ( a major bank) was having problems on their end processing the paperwork for our purchase of the new home and our new mortgage. Because of this, the closing date was pushed out at the last minute by a day and a half and was jeopardizing our ability to move when we planned, which we needed to to facilitate the new owners moving in to our old house. I called our account manager at A Better Tripp, Renee Long, and she was so understanding about our situation. She immediately began looking at options to accommodate us in their busy schedule if we couldn't close on the new house on 9/27 and gave me her cell phone number to call anytime to let her know if things changed. As it turned out, we were able to make our 9/27 move date work but it was tough. The actual moving crew at our house that day, led by Raphael, were fantastic. They were so friendly and so professional in packing our house into the trucks and taking care not to bump walls, etc. Carrying a washer/dryer down 2 flights of stairs cannot be easy, but they made it look easy. They finished loading the trucks when we left to close on the new house and were waiting for us at the new house when we finally had the keys in hand. During the delay while we were closing and they were done, they even took us off the clock for a little bit. To show how accommodating and helpful they were, we had a Comcast appointment scheduled for that afternoon and the tech came 20 minutes EARLY (before we had the keys to the house) and was threatening to leave because he had waited so long and we couldn't get another appt with them for 10 days. I called the movers who were waiting at the house and asked them to chat up the Comcast guy and keep him there while I rushed back to the house. They happily did this for me and kept the guy there until I could arrive. They started packing our old house at 8:30am thet morning and finished unloading at our new house at 7:45pm that night. They were professional, cheerful, and helpful the whole time. This is the 4th time (at least) I have used this company for a major household move and I will always use them!!
Description of Work: We hired A Better Tripp to pack our 3000 sq ft, 3 story home on 9/26 and then move us to a new 3500 sq ft, 2 story home on 9/27. It was a local move from one part of Houston to another. They packed 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, office, living room/game room, garage, storage shed, 3 bathrooms, and lots of toddler toys. Aside from all the furniture, they packed about 100 boxes in about 6 hours. The move on 9/27 required 2 trucks and 2 crews of 2 men each. Some of the same guys who did the packing did the moving the next day.

They gave me a good quote of expected cost and I paid what I expected once job was completed. A few days before I changed plan to move washer and dryer to another location and they were flexible and accomodated that change. Friendly hard working crew. I plan to use them again when I need to move.
Description of Work: Local move. Loaded furniture and crates onto truck from 3 bedroom 1 story house. This included washer and dryer. Drove loaded truck to new house 4 bedroom 1 story house. Unloaded everything but washer and dryer which needed to go to another location. Drove to 2nd location which was near the first and unloaded washer and dryer.

We had a very good experience with A Better Tripp. Allen came out shortly after we contacted the company and gave us an estimate for the work. He was very nice and very professional and he also gave me his contact info so I could get in touch with him if I had additional questions after he left. I did have several questions which I emailed him about and he responded very promptly each time. We had the packers come on a Sat. and the movers on Tues. We were closing on our new home on Mon. and weren't sure how long that would take. That also gave us the opportunity to move a few things we wanted to take ourselves and make sure everything was ready for move-in at our new home. Our packing team was led by Terri and they were great. They showed up on time and began by walking through the house quickly and asking for any particular instructions we might have. They all worked very diligently for the entire time they were there. They took only one short break that I was aware of and stopped very briefly to eat lunch when we brought something in for all of us. They were very friendly and asked questions when they needed to. I was really dreading that day, but everything went so smoothly and we were very pleased with everything. They did a great job packing. We are not totally unpacked yet, but we are almost there, and we have yet to find anything that was broken in the move! The movers also showed up within the time frame they had given us. They worked diligently as well. All the furniture was well wrapped and handled well. It took a good part of the day to load up and I was exhausted just watching the movers! We got to the new house and they asked where to put every item that came off the truck. They put together all the furniture that had been disassembled for the move, and set it up wherever we wanted it. It was a very long day, but the men kept going until everything was done to our satisfaction. We had moved only once in our married life, and we did all the packing ourselves for that move and moved most of the boxes we had packed ourselves. We had a moving co. move only the furniture items. 20 years later and with the accumulation of stuff from that 20 years and 5 kids, we decided we needed much more help this time! I don't think we could possibly have made a better choice than A Better Tripp to make this move. They really exceeded our expectations from start to finish. We hope that we won't be moving again, but if that should happen, we would definitely call them again!
Description of Work: A Better Tripp moved us from our home in The Woodlands (2 story, 4 bedroom home) to our new home in Magnolia (3 bedroom, 1 story home). A representative came out and looked at our home and gave us an estimate for how much packing and moving would cost. A couple of weeks later, the packers came and spent about 7-8 hours packing up our entire house. Several days after that, the movers came, loaded the truck and moved our belongings to our new house, about 40 minutes away.

I can't say enough good things about this company, so much so that this is my first Angie's List review.
Description of Work: I am a recent transplantee from Seattle, and required the services of a company to move into my new Cypress home. After doing my due diligence I chose this company because of it's outstanding rating with Angie's List and because they were the only moving company that sent an agent to my prior home to assess the approximate cost of moving. The attention and care shown by Allen Beaulieu, the sales consultant, from the assessment thru the post move exceeded my wildest expectations. I also want to thank Michelle and Kim for their attention in enlisting the services of a third party contractor to crate an expensive item, etc.

I began my search for movers about a month and a half before my desired move date. Allen from A Better Tripp was very personable yet professional and seemed confident that his crew could handled my biggest concern, which was moving my large and expensive dresser from my second-floor bedroom in my parents' house into my second-floor one bedroom apartment across town. Initially the price made me turn away from A Better Tripp, since I found another Angie's List company that would give me a 3-man crew for $89 and A Better Tripp charged $115 for 3 men. There were two other Angie's List companies that wanted to send me 2 men at $99. But after starting the sign-up process with the cheapest company, I changed my mind when the contract they emailed me did not match the verbal statements made over the phone (in particular, a 15% surcharge for moving up stairs, and having to pay before the truck is unloaded). At this point I called Allen back and asked him to send me a copy of their contract so I could read it over and see if there was anything in it that I did not like. He stayed with me on the phone while he sent me the estimate and contract, and the terms were much more agreeable than the other company's. The day of the move everything went great. The crew had the 8-9 AM window and they were there by 8:05. They introduced themselves to me, had me show them which items belonged on the truck and which stayed in the house, and then got to work. It took just over an hour to get the truck loaded, which amazed me. Most importantly, the crew was able to get my dresser unloaded in the new apartment without causing damage to it. They unloaded as quickly as they loaded but were very careful and were good about asking me where I wanted items. In the end I am very glad that I chose to go with A Better Tripp because the move went perfectly. I was even able to get a discount since I'm an Angie's List member, so the total was less than I anticipated. I recommend that anyone considering hiring a mover really do their homework, make sure that the company that you're using will let you read the contract that you're expected to sign the day of the move in advance. A Better Tripp had no problem letting me do that because they had nothing to hide, which I appreciated.

We were able to schedule our move with very short notice. Allen came out and presented a very reasonable quote for moving the contents of our two story home from Houston to central Texas (4.5 Hours one way).The crew (Three men) arrived on schedule, they were professional, friendly, and very accomodating.

Excellent service! We had 4 men and 2 trucks. They arrived as scheduled at 8 am. We moved from a 3600 square foot 2 story home from Houston to Montgomery TX. (about a 2 hours drive) My husband and son moved all boxes and left all furniture for A Better Tripp. The first thing they did was to cover and protect all my hardwoods and they never used a hand truck on any carpet (no worry about black tire marks on light color carpets!) They wrapped almost all furniture and except for one item (they slightly dropped my front loader washer coming down the stairs hitting the door on the carpet) we had no accidents or events. We did this move in the middle of July in Houston,Tx and it was HOT! The team worked through lunch and never even took a break!! I bought them pizza for lunch but they refused to stop and eat and said they would eat lunch during the drive to the new house. They move into the new house was TOTALLY uneventful, nothing was dropped, hit, knocked over or damaged moving into the home. The men moved quickly and smoothly placing items in each room as instructed. The final bill was for just over 10 hours. I thought that was a super time line and without a doubt use or recommend A Better Tripp to all family or friends. Thank you A Better Tripp for making a very unpleasant job bearable!

The packers/movers were on time, they worked hard (full out except for a 30 min. lunch break) until the job was done. Their packing was great and they treated the "special" items I pointed out to them, with the utmost care and attention. Best of all, the cost came in below estimate. We moved our household contents into storage and I will certainly contact A Better Tripp when we are ready to move these to their final destination. These guys are really good and I highly recommend them. They were great.

Description of Work: Melvin came and gave us an estimate, he was professional and on time. He emailed us a written estimate the next day. The day of the move the movers came they were on time and very careful with our furniture. They were attentive to our instructions and asked questions and listened to our response and wishes regarding the move. They had a great attitude all day and were a pleasure to work with thoughout the move! Not one thing was damaged in our rather large move of 3 bedroom home.

The three guys that came to move my belongings showed up on time on the scheduled day and got to work right away. They brought a big truck to move all my stuff in and parked it carefully to not block my neighbors while they were loading. They were very thorough in wrapping all the furniture with moving blankets and plastic wrap. Upon arrival at the new house, they unloaded everything in the same careful way. They checked with me where to put everything and assembled the entertainment center in its new location. The whole day they were very professional and pleasant.
Description of Work: I had them move all my belongings from a two level townhouse to a two level house across town. Approximately a three bedroom house worth of stuff.

David, I have to be honest, the thought of moving makes me nauseous, especially a long distance move with a bunch of ?stuff?. In fact we had an entire semi load plus an additional truck full of furniture, clothes, appliances, etc. Your crew did a phenomenal job through the entire process. We had one blip on the loading and packing side, a broken Green Egg, a dented and scratched refrigerator and a stained chair on the unload side. Pretty impressive for loading and packing, unloading and storing, reloading and 900 miles later unloading in 100+ degree heat, especially considering the broken ceramic egg was a complete accident. Mike, Raymond, Terry and Angel were awesome on the unload side. As for the damaged goods, you didn?t even bat an eye to make it right. I would certainly recommend A Better Tripp. Please convey my gratitude to the crew.

We have moved many times (over 10) with national movers and have had satisfactory experiences, but this being our first non-corporate move, we contracted directly with this local highly rated (Angie's List) company. The representative seemed very customer oriented and knowledgeable. Their quote came in slightly higher than national carriers, but we felt we would get better attention with a smaller, local carrier. We were profoundly disappointed and even astonished at the lack of professionalism and efficiency. It was clear the movers assigned to us were not up to the standard/experience as described in other reviews here. The experience was stressful from start to finish. We would absolutely not recommend. Something went very wrong here since the movers we had in no way reflect the company's reputation as represented online in these forums. On a positive note, the packing crew who arrived on the first day led by Terri, was top notch. All was looking hopeful until the men came the following day to complete the packing and load . . . . and it went downhill from there. Numerous examples that displayed lack of pride, experience or competence. So sorry to have to report this as we were truly looking forward to supporting a Houston based outfit with this move.

They were really, really good. We were very pleased with them. They got it all done in one day and they were excellent. The price was very fair. They worked very professionally and very efficiently. We didn't have any problems. We were not disappointed with them. They were very professional. They wore uniforms and they didn’t waste a lot of time. I would use them again.

Only down side to this move was the original over the phone quote was low at $800. We paid $1342, but WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! Great Job Otherwise. On another note A Better Tripp offers Full Replacement Value insurance at a minimum of $40,000 (at a cost over $400). I was only interested in $15,000...needless to say I went without.
Description of Work: Moved from a 1700+ Sq ft house to a 3340 Sq ft 2 story house. We packed/boxed most of our belongings to have it ready, we were on a very tight schedule. They arrived right on time, blanket/plastic wrapped furniture and scratch-able items, dismantled beds, entertainment enter and refrigerator. They loaded furniture, boxes etc. nice and tight in the moving truck, drove 37 miles to our new home. Unload and reassemble everything. Fantastic Job!

The move went very well. The only hiccup was that the moving van showed up a little late.

Working with A Better Tripp was very easy and pleasant. Bill O'Neill who came out to see what we were moving and then give us a bid was very professional and extremely helpful. He gave me lots of tips on packing and buying boxes and other moving materials. The communications wasn't exactly as promised (he said the driver would contact us the day before the move to tell us when he'd be there to load up -- he never called) but the driver did show up ( a little late but nothing too serious). There was a mis-estimation on their part about the size of the truck needed, so we had to wait a little while for a larger truck. Again, nothing serious or too troublesome. The men who loaded the truck were very professional and good at their jobs. Careful with our possessions, quick to complete the job, courteous, nice. They finished loading the truck around 3:00. The truck left Houston the next morning and arrived in Austin around lunchtime. Unpacking was smooth and uneventful. The men worked very hard without breaks except to eat lunch. Again, the movers were extremely courteous and professional. They stayed (unloading, putting stuff together, etc.) until they finished around 5:00. We were extremely pleased with the entire experience and would definitely use them again. Everything arrived intact and unbroken except for one small part of a teak outdoor chair which we easily glued back on.

I had a few issues with these movers. First, they were to call half an hour before arriving but didn't. They did arrive on time but I needed the call ahead to prepare with my pets. Then they informed me that they brought along an extra guy to help. Not what I asked for, but that was their business. I had only asked for 4 guys, not 5. I told them what my contracted rate was and they said it wouldn't change. They forgot some things and I had to go back to the house and put them in my SUV resulting in 2 more trips (25 miles each) . They didn't listen and moved donation stuff to my new house that I had asked to be left in the garage for a later pick up. They didn't cut all the plastic off of some furniture so I had to. They left a heavy TV on the floor of my bedroom instead of putting it in the armoire. I didn't see that until after they left. My fault for not checking these things before paying, I guess. Above all, the most upsetting thing, is that at the end of the move they wanted me to give the extra guy and extra $100 for helping. I told them I was going to tip the 4 guys $100 and if they wanted to give their tip to him that was their choice. I felt that was wrong. I also bought them all lunch. When I paid I mentioned the coupon and he asked if I had it printed out. Umm, no, he eventually honored it, but reluctantly. I was a little surprised they were rated so highly on Angie's list. I felt they were just ok. They did an adequate job but I wouldn't say it's the best I've had.
Description of Work: Moved from a 2 story 2,300 sq. ft. house in the Woodlands to one story similar size in Kingwood.

Set up a time for estimating and representative arrived promptly. Took about 45 minutes to walk through the house and point to items for move. Rep suggested we use a 'bobtail' truck and said the 60 boxes would fit with the furniture. Took a couple of days to get the estimate, but it was well within expectations. Movers were late due to traffic, but they made up for it. Once there, the 3 movers begin tagging and recording every piece of furniture. Furniture was staged in the house, wrapped, and taped then taken to the truck for stacking. Movers were professional, friendly, and knew their jobs. We asked various questions and were promptly answered by one or the other - all were equally knowledgeable. (This was different from previous experience with a national moving company where the movers seemed to be someone just hired and given a T-shirt to wear.) We did not stay and watch the packing, but were told they worked until 20:30 the day before. Movers arrived promptly the next morning at our destination in Spring Branch (near Canyon Lake). As planned, we stored most of the items in our garage and rooms in the house. Amazing that they were able to fit the furniture in the areas requested and we were left room in addition. They placed cardboard on the floor of garage to protect the furniture and wrapped furniture in cardboard as needed to protect it and allow stacking. As the truck was unloaded, we asked that certain marked boxes were placed in certain areas to enable us to unload/use some and store others. Once they knew, they placed boxes appropriately. (Again, very different from other experience where they tried to put items down at the front door or in the garage AND we had to carefully supervise each individual). We are extremely satisfied and have recommended these movers to others in 2 weeks since we used them.
Description of Work: Estimate of cost to move furniture and boxed personal items. Moving from Houston to Spring Branch. Most items were to be stored in garage as much smaller quarters. Movers itemized and wrapped furniture, loaded truck, transported to new location, unloaded and stacked items in a very limited space.

No surprise, Tripp worked with us, since we had some unexpected closing issues.
Description of Work: Mike and team packed our house and moved us from Houston to Colleyville Texas. Good team for packing and delivery. No issues, everything was wrapped well. Only breakage we found was what we packed, some old glass ware.
