We bought a cabin and thought we had a rotted log but quickly found out the entire foundation needed to be repaired. Bill & his team laid an all new concrete foundation, built a beautiful back wall & spot for an outdoor fireplace, installed a drainage system & even used the salvageable parts of the logs to recreate the wood siding look. We also hired them to lay gravel down our driveway, repair the mortar on our chimney and install a storm cap on it. We weren't home for a lot of the work and Bill kept me updated on his progress remotely, and worked as quickly and efficiently as any contractor would if the homeowner was present. A real testament to Bill's reliability is that the storm cap we ordered for the chimney was delayed because of supply chain issues and he had to come back to install it. He had already been paid for the job, and I know some less reliable contractors wouldn't have ever shown up but Bill did it happily and even gave me some tips on how best to use our new fireplace. Really nice person, I would use him for any masonry work you want done.

This review did not have to be negative as I am usually contractor friendly but Bills lack of caring and followup over poor workmanship left me no choice. This started off as a renovation of my front steps, quoted at $1800. While in the process of preparing the steps, the foundation collapsed and Bill quoted me $6200 to fully replace the steps, which was about $1500 higher than other quotes I received. But I had a dialogue with Bill and agreed. HIs team worked hard to get the project done and I had no complaints about the finished product. However, almost immediately the concrete on the main landing began flaking away and I notified Bill. He acknowledged that the concrete didnot set properly and would have to be redone when the weather warmed up. Six months later, I will still try to get him out to the house to repair the job, and he made insinuations that I had damaged the concrete with salt or chemicals. When he finally did visit in July 21, they put down a slim coat of cement on the landing which was done sloppily. I was not home when they were there and he told my wife that it would smooth out over time. In Nov 21, I sent him photos of the steps advising him that that the steps still looked poor, and he didnt bother to respond. So here is the point, he will be responsive in trying to get your job and while its in progress, but do not count on follow-up if there s a problem after the job is finished and paid for. That 25-year warranty that is promised is as good as useless if he will not bother to see that a project is completed to a clients satisfaction. It is too bad, as I had trusted Bill and selected him for that reason

Bill is easy to communicate with, responsive, and is very interested in working with you so you will be pleased with the finished project. Heâ s completed multiple projects for us (new sidewalk, patio, steps) and the work has been uniformly excellent.

Was brought in to fix stucco of stairs. Said he needs to rebuild them so charged extra and did a good job rebuilding them. But, when finished he said the stucco was not part of the deal and tried to contact him few times to fix some leftovers (that he agreed he should fix) promised he would come but never did.

Very fair priced and hard working

Great communication very prompt and fait with pricing. They were able to complete the work sooner than the projected start date. I am very pleased with the quality and pricing. Highly recommend A-1 American.

They replaced My front steps put in a new foundation underneath which I didnâ  t have pretty prompt and professional pretty decent price for the work that had to be done which was complete demolition of old steps.

Billy and the A1 team did an amazing job rebuilding our side brick steps (originally from the 1940s) off the kitchen and repaired the cracks in our garage bed. Billy was super knowledgeable and gave us a fair price. His crew was respectful and cleanly. All around a great experience. Highly recommended!

My chimney failed inspection. The chimney was lower than the pitch of the house, anyone in the business would know that. It took over 4 months to come back and repair. Owner excuse was that they ran out of stone but there was plenty left over, they stacked it over my spring planting. They came back last week,, and finished.....now it looks like a chimney that was built and added to, it's also crooked. I needed to hire a gutter cleaner because they cemented my gutter shut with the debris.
