Never during the estimation process or scheduling process did they mention that rain would cause the job to be delayed or cancelled. The part needing replacement is inside the house. Being that I had to take a day off from work to be home, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Since rain was predicted all week and especially at 100% the day before a simple phone call letting us know that it will likely need to be rescheduled would have been the courteous and professional thing to do. This is what my husband communicated to them about his frustration: Hi, please let me know the earliest you can reschedule. I don't appreciate having to take a vacation day to meet your crew, then be told an hour before scheduled arrival that you are not coming. I don't work on AC's, so all I knew was that there was something inside that needed to be replaced. If you can't do the work in the rain, then that should have been communicated up front when you were bidding the job, or at the very least when it was scheduled. I understand that you can't work in the rain. You said "We can't predict the weather", but the weather man can and yesterday afternoon called for 100% chance of rain today. Its not the job that was postponed that I am upset about, it is the total disregard for your customer's time, and lack of courtesy in timely communications. This was his response: I understand your frustration but I have seen this year where rain was not called far and we got it, and I have also seen where we have had 100% chance of rain on multiple occasions this year and have received nothing. We contact customers as soon as possible when we determine we are unable to meet the appointment. The earliest we call is 7 am give or take a few minutes. We do not have a disregard for our customers time. If you feel we treated you poorly I apologize. If I felt someone disrespected me and my family I would look elsewhere for service. Apparently they don't need or want our business, so we terminate our verbal agreement with them and are seeking other companies to do the work. I was hoping that picking a company from Angie's list we would have been assured a service minded company. Not with diamond. So someone else gets our $2600.
Description of Work: We were scheduled to have our evaporator coils replaced and had to wait 2 1/2 weeks because they were so busy and also had to wait on a part. I had to take off work because it was going to be a 6 hour job. My husband got a phone call at 7:00 a.m. stating they were putting the work on hold due to rain. Never during the estimation call did the guy mention that they would be working outside and that rain would be an issue. The part we needed replaced was inside the house.

Dear member, Our proposals do absolutely make reference to the fact that some job delays are outside or beyond the control of the contractor. Example: major rain storm activity such as the enormous amounts of rain storm and flooding activity we've seen in the area over the last couple of months. Not to mention what we experienced all day yesterday on 6/17/15. We're not sure that anyone has been able to predict the weather with 100 percent accuracy since the beginning of recorded history. Hence its one of the reasons why we make reference on each proposal submitted to the possibility of "delays" which would be considered as outside our control. It should go without saying that we, Diamond Quality Services, could not have done anything more than to call the customer once we knew for certain that this storm was going to create a delay other than to possibly call the member between midnight and maybe 4 in the morning to give any other or further advance notice of such a delay. From our experience, most folks-but certainly not all, in the Dallas Ft. Worth area tend to rise between the hours of 6 and 7am. Considering the information provided above it seems of the member considerably insensitive to the notion that there are at times a delay outside of our control. Furthermore in reference to the Member copying texting correspondence between the member and co-owner Scott into their review. The "member" did in fact embolden a portion of the text correspondence which was posted in the review. Scott did not place bold print on a text message to the member. The reason for the text correspondence was due to the fact that after Scott called the member, the member did not call Scott back. The member instead chose to text Scott a response to the delay and in return Scott messaged the member back through text however, as previously mentioned Scott did not embolden any texting but was rather simply replying to the member with an understanding of members positioning. Below are essential notes from the initial service call proposal discussed with the member approximately 2 weeks prior to job appointment, recorded by Co-Owner Scott Peterson to our CRM database: Paraphrased. Scott's notes: I did explain to Mr. [Member name removed] that we would need to pump down the system so we could save his refrigerant. I explained we lock down the liquid line on the outside unit and when all of the refrigerant is removed from the inside unit we lock down the suction side. I explained this will minimize the amount of refrigerant needed as it would all be trapped in the outside unit. The only additional refrigerant would be what has leaked out of the system. I then explained we cut the copper line set and the condensate line to remove the old coil. I explained when we install the new coil we perform a nitrogen purge while brazing to prevent internal oxidation of the copper tubing. Internal oxidation causes premature compressor failure. We then run a vacuum pump and pull the system down to 500 microns to make sure no moisture is contaminating the refrigerant. This explanation was detailed and specifically referenced the outdoor unit. On the inside we would need to remove the furnace to remove the coil since there was not enough room to remove the coil from the closet without removing the furnace first. It was explained all of the refrigerant work would occur outside other than the brazing of the new coil. We are scheduling work out 2 weeks since the equipment was working and we were fully scheduled. If the equipment was inoperable we would have worked overtime to get the home conditioned. End. As stated previously we cannot predict the weather and because the weather man got it right once does not make the weatherman a reliable source for scheduling. At no time were we intentionally insensitive to the members time. When something like this occurs we attempt to make adjustments to help the customer. This can include doing the work on Saturday if that is the best solution. When Our dispatcher spoke with the customer he was not happy and wanted a call from Scott. Scott called and did not get an answer so he left a message explaining why we could not make it and left his direct callback number. The customer then texted Scott with a response that can be read above in the members synopsis. Scott's copied response was accurate, but again was not italicized or put in bold. He was simply stating to the customer that if he (Scott putting himself in a customers position) felt that he was disrespected he would not work with the contractor. It should also be mentioned here: when our Dispatcher called with an appointment reminder on 6/16 to leave a reminder about the appointment for the morning of 6/17, the member texted our dispatcher back with the following, "Got your message. My wife will be there to meet them. Thanks". In reference to the preceding text it's unclear why the member stated that he specifically was taking a vacation day. We understand the frustrations people face at times of having to take away from their busy schedules to handle issues or things of priority. It's the nature of any service business to always try and create the best possible accommodations for services rendered. It would have been great to have had the work and earned the payment for quality services rendered, but sometimes that is out of our control, without the understanding of the customer and the flexibility for a rescheduled job once a slight delay presents an eminently unavoidable situation. By far, Scott from Diamond is the most honest of any provider I've used on Angie's List. Why am I so happy with a company which was unable to solve my problem? Here's the story: Another AC company had said the one ac condenser needed to be replaced (super-expensive because it involves a crane) since it was working at about half capacity. I called Diamond as a second opinion. Scott tested the condensers and said their numbers were both perfect. The noise issue had nothing to do with the units' performance, and the units could last for one more year....or ten, he said. He suggested trying a composite condenser pad beneath the units to absorb some of the noise that could be heard in the room directly below. Also, 2 new 4 x 4s to rest the condensers on since mine are bowed and rotted. So we scheduled another appointment for this morning to put in the 4 x 4s and condenser pad. He did the work but it didn't really help the noise, then he tried some rubber absorption pads which still didn't work. So he suggested to remove the condenser pad and not charge anything for his one hour of labor with 2 helpers (in the broiling sun and working on a small 4th floor area with no safety rail). I told him I'd at least pay him for the 4 x 4s which he left under the units and he said absolutely not-- he wasn't going to charge me a dime since the 2 solutions didn't work and he wouldn't be able to sleep at night if he charged me anything. So the upshot is that he tried his best to solve the problem and spare me the cost of a new condenser. He didn't automatically try to up sell me on a new condenser like the first company did. Scott's solution didn't work, but it didn't cost me anything. Plenty of other companies would have charged a trip charge for this work, or a minimum or some other fee for their time, but Scott was very fair. I've decided to just put up with the noise (more of a vibration really) and wait on getting a new condenser until the old one doesn't perform well. Scott't and his team of two guys were all very pleasant; I'd definitely use them in the future!

My parents' AC was not blowing cool air so I purchased the coupon on Angie's list for tune up and freon. When I purchased the coupon on 3/31 it gave me an option to select 3 dates. Even though it allowed me to select dates for that week, when I called them the next day they did not have an opening until 4/10. I stated the concern of the heat and needing the AC to blow cool air since my parents were elderly. They were then able to schedule an appt for 4/6 @ 1:30 PM. By 2:00 pm on 4/6 when no one showed up I called them and it went to voicemail. When they called me back, they were not sure why the technician did not show up yet and had to call me back. About 30 minutes later I received a callback stating they did not have a technician and I would have to reschedule. We already waited a week so I stated we needed something as soon as possible. Another 30 more minutes the office called back and stated they are sending another technician out at 4 pm. About 4:10 pm we received a call from the technician stating he was running late and would not be able to get to the house until after 5 pm. When he got here, he checked the system and said there was a leak and we would need to pay an additional 185 for the leak check. With all the running around we had to do, we just wanted him to do what was part of the coupon that we purchased and to send us an estimate for any additional work. With the leak in the system, the freon that was pumped didn't last long. But because of all the waiting and back and forth calling to just get them here we didn't even want to entertain going to them for any additional work to the AC unit. We ended up going with another service provider when we replaced the whole system. .

Dear member, We can see how things definitely look frustrating from your viewpoint and the construction of the events. The construction of your review would indicate to everyone that we Diamond Quality Services somehow inferred availability around the first three dates you initially sent as preselected-at the very same time that you purchased the ac tune up off Angie's List. This is certainly not the case. When a purchase is made off Angie's list a message is sent to the company handling the service you purchased along with some preselected dates chosen by the member. The preselected dates for scheduling requests we initially receive are not confirmed dates, instead they are (preselected) by the member. Our communication notes and the message center documentation retained prove this. The member also might remember a note the member made on the initial request as well, asking for us to call and confirm the date. The service date was confirmed within 24 hours for the member. Member, we did our absolute best to accommodate the scheduling confirmation on the day of 4/6 rather than 4/10 with an already overbooked schedule - pulling two different technicians in opposite directions, reworking some things to have a technician there as close to appointment time as was humanly possible. At the end of the day yes we were running 4 hours late although our dispatch office and technicians were in communication with you throughout the afternoon of the appointment date 4/6 and we arrived that same afternoon which was originally confirmed with you a few days prior on April 1st. The day of the appointment was kept. The time, due to other issues was a little off. Note, the technician sent had just completed a 4 system tune up in Dallas which ran a touch longer and then a drive from Dallas to Arlington, in heavy rush hour traffic, where the members parents were located. Still managing to arrive shortly after 5pm. The AL message center documentation also proves the original appointment confirmation and that it took place within only 1 day of your original purchase request through the AL message center. Preselected dates are great in some aspects because they do allow a client to make an initial scheduling request and also allow a company somewhat of an idea as to what the client is looking at initially, from a scheduling perspective. I cannot speak for all other companies but we, Diamond Quality Services certainly and always do our absolute best to accommodate scheduling requests as closely as possible to what we have available for all of the various services we provide. Angie's list members are and have always been a Top Priority. Facts about the service call, based on actual, on the job documentation: The tune up purchased through Angie's list included and or came with one pound of freon free. Per the detail notes within our CRM our technician noted the members system checked out fine other than the diagnostics which confirmed the system had a leak in it somewhere. Our technician recommended a leak test be scheduled and performed so as to accurately and properly diagnose that issue. Note: The leak test recommendation by our technician was accurate as you will see in the members review where the member states, "with the leak in the system the freon that was pumped didn't last long." Note it was the members request to pump the free pound of freon but at the same time chose not to schedule and have performed the leak test we recommended. Note: At the price of R-22 freon these days it would have been unethical for us to not recommend the leak test and rather just pump the members system with freon only for it to leak out over the course of hours or days. The member chose to not schedule and or have done the recommended leak test. Nevertheless, our technicians assessment for leak test was accurate. The member in their review also made a reference to all this waiting around and back forth. We hope the member understands that the facts are 4 hours and not a week as they described and that the back and forth were phone calls keeping them informed as to their needs as we were working, reworking and shifting technicians to accommodate their needs the day of the confirmed appointment. Sidebar: Leak tests require a fair amount of time to perform and they are performed in order to accurately detect wherever a freon and or refrigerant leak is originating from. Many times when a leak and or leaks in systems are accurately assessed money can be saved rather than someone ending up paying for a whole new system. When there is a system leak, determining the origination of the leak first, is typically the most practical way to recommend the most cost efficient and proper solution to meet each individual client need or want. He was here on time and checked everything out. It is an old system, so I knew there might be issues. He found two places where I needed new capacitors and replace them. He told me up front the cost and also showed me the readings on his tester. He also re-positioned the cover on my outside unit because it was rattling badly. I am very pleased with the service and will definitely call them again.

Diamond Quality Services didn't shine... We choose a Diamond Quality Services diagnostic special of $49 for our AC system. We have a two story house and the upstairs system just didn't seem to be blowing any air. After we bought the special, Diamond contacted us to get some more info for scheduling and we explained our issue. Their dispatcher told us that we probably just needed a "tune up" and that service would be $69. She advised she would schedule us for one and that we could ask for a refund on the special we purchased. This was on Wednesday 5/20/2015 and they were scheduled to come out on Friday 5/22/2015. My wife and I were both home on Friday, and the technician did call around the time expected to let us know he was on his way. We saw their van pull up and park in front of our house for almost 10 minutes, then he just drove off. I actually went outside to look down the street to see if he was just turning around or something, but no, he got to the end of our street turned and was gone. Just as my wife was calling to find out why, their dispatcher called to tell us that due to rain, their technician would have to move on to his next call. We were perplexed by a few things: 1. It had just started to sprinkle. 2 Wouldn't it be raining at his next call too? 3. It was almost as if expected rain so he sat outside waiting until it started to sprinkle before taking off. 4. If the technician called us to say he was on the way, why couldn't he call us, or come to the door to say he could work in the rain, instead he called it in to dispatch and her deal with us. The dispatcher asked us if we would like to reschedule.....well of course we would, we still need our system checked out! The earliest availability they had to come back out was 13 days later on 6/4/2015. We told them to forget it, we'd call someone else. We called Comfort Masters and specifically asked them if any rain would deter them, they said no and had a technician out to our house within the hour, and fixed our issue in less than an hour. Dear member, As everyone is most likely aware we are having tremendous amounts of rain here in DFW and all surrounding areas. Some of our lakes are 10 feet above average if not more just to give anyone who might not be in the know an idea. Unfortunately we are unable to predict how much longer the seemingly daily rainy weather may last but we have all certainly had a fair share in one place or another. On this particular day the member was being scheduled for either a diagnostic service call and or tune up which was based on some back and forth prior communication between the member and our dispatch office. Our technician was also in touch with the member the day of the service call and had called the member 15 minutes ahead of the appointment time to alert the member that once he arrived and because it was showering rain would pull to the curb in front of the members home and would wait for up to 10 minutes to try and determine whether it was a quickly passing shower or whether the rain would set in. On that same call the technician also let the member know that if due to the rain he would promptly let dispatch know to get in touch with member for a rescheduling since our dispatch office handles scheduling or rescheduling when there are cancellations for one reason or another be it client based, weather based, us or any other reason. So, waiting 10 minutes at the curb and checking weather radar it seemed obvious to our technician the rain was setting in for a while. Our technician pulled away from the curb and actually had to make another quick stop at the end of the members street because the rain was coming down so hard on the windshield at that point that the wiper blades were not clearing water efficiently enough in order to safely drive on to the next appointment. The next appointment was a filter change-out having nothing to do with anything electrical such as a diagnostic service call and or AC tune up. We are sorry that this member is so upset. It is unfortunate but at the same time we are happy that all Angie's list members can review us however they wish regardless of circumstances out of our control. The only thing we have control over in these type situations is how we choose to respond. Doing our absolute best to serve and service Angie's list members not only is, but always has been one of our utmost TOP priorities. When that changes is when we must put the safety of everyone involved including our employee(s) before the business. Ok advised had a clogged drain, but since I din't pay for that just left contact info with my wife. I would have liked for them to take care if while they were at the house. I will get someone else to do it.

Dear Member, The tune up service call took place on April 15, between the hours of 8am and 9am. Communication difficulties are hard to untangle at times. When our technician arrived this was the first we were given knowledge of a drain issue per our detailed notes. When the members appointment was booked for a tune up there was no mention of a water issue the member was having. Conversely, the member knew about the drain issue prior to booking the call but for whatever reason this was not shared at the time of scheduling with our dispatcher for the tune up service call. The communication issue gets more interesting. When our technician arrived at the appointed time for the scheduled ac tune up, the members wife brought up the matter of a dripping pipe located outside by or on the porch and, she let our technician know that it dripped anytime the ac was running. Then the members wife gave our technician direct orders to pass along any information to her daughter once he had completed the tune up and diagnostic regarding the dripping water from the pipe outside because she told our technician that she had to go upstairs and get dressed for work. Once our technician finished the ac tune up and had also diagnosed the dripping water issue with the outside pipe he stepped back in and gave the information to the daughter who was then supposed to give the information back to the member after our technician left, just as our technician had been directed to do so by the members wife upon arriving to this call. Our technician, in giving the information to the members daughter requested the member schedule a time with us for specifically working on the drain line and clearing the significant clogging. Bear in mind, the member had previously dismissed herself from the service call and our technician was handling the service call as he had been instructed to do so by the members wife. Our technician handled the call exactly right at the time with relaying any information to the daughter with scheduling for this drain line cleaning before he left the call. We had hoped to schedule a time to use a specific device to clear the members clogged drain line which was properly diagnosed as an issue while on the tune up call. But, we never got a call back from the member for scheduling. Last but certainly not least. Cale is one of our certified technicians which handled the call and is also one of the finest young men you will ever have a chance to meet. Courteous, polite, respectful of others. When a member specifically asks him to handle a communication a certain way for them he is going to do his best and follows through. Cale documents all his work with pictures and detailed notes just as all our certified technicians do. Diamond Quality Services Customer care

Peggy was pleasant to work with when scheduling the service - we had to change the date several times because the weather was too cool to test the AC. When we did finally get a warm enough day, the technician, Kale arrived on time and diligently went about checking out the system. He found a part that was worn and need of replacement. I purchased their yearly maintenance plan as well as it seemed like a nice preventative plan that was not too expensive. They were responsible and professional and I will use them in the future.

It went great. It took them about an hour to provide the service. There were no warranties or guarantees. They were really good. I would tell friends and family that they are timely and honest.

Called on Friday to schedule annual AC checkup. AC was working but wasn't keeping up with the hot late afternoon temps. Was scheduled in for Monday morning. Scott arrived on time. Spent a couple of hours doing maintenance and figuring out where the refrigeration leak was. Once he determined the cause of the leak he provided a quote for a new evaporator coil. He came back late in the day with the coil, replaced it, and stayed around to make sure everything was working. Used this company last year and they recharged the system, replaced a contractor, cleaned the blower wheel and coil for about $800. My A/C system is 10 years old and prior to last year had never had anything but annual check ups done. Very satisfied with the service I received and appreciate Scott working into the evening to complete the work in 1 day. I will use Diamond Service again for my AC and heating maintenance and repair.

It was not that good. It did not end up to be that good. He came out to look at the system and I think the guy that came out was pretty new and he did not know what he was doing. But his attitude was very good, he was a really nice kid but he was new to what he was doing. He ended up trouble shooting the wrong system. I think I kind of gave him the wrong guidance, I told him that this was what he needs to fix. I think I was wrong but I said that he checked it first because I was not sure. However, they were very nice. They did not try not to helpful. They came within a week after I purchased the deal, probably a day after. I paid more than the $99 big deal, I think they charged me an additional hundred bucks for Freon.
Description of Work: I used the big deal of Diamond Quality Services. They basically put Freon in the system and tried to get it working. They checked the temperatures and tried to trouble shoot the system. They tried to check the levels of coolant. I think they put more Freon on the system that was okay and the system that was not okay, I had to call someone else. They found out that it was just a bad and old unit.

Dear member, Thank you for your support. When placing the order for the cooling tune up the member had specified with our dispatcher the tune up was for the downstairs system only. Later, on the same phone call with our dispatcher the member mentioned possibly wanting an additional tune up for the upstairs once our technician was on site. When our technician arrived the member guided our technician to the system the member wanted to have serviced. At the same time the member chose not to add the additional tune up for the upstairs system. Our technician (State and EPA certified) arrived on site for the tune up appointment and part of the job performed while on site was running a set of system diagnostics and getting accurate readings of refrigerant levels; which at that time revealed a requirement for adding a small amount of refrigerant to bring the system in line with manufacturers specifications. Our technician added 1 pound of freon. The charge for the one pound of freon was $79.00 The grand total for all services combined on the service call/tune up was $178.00, including a pound of freon. About a week later our technician returned to perform a complete condenser coil cleaning on the outside unit for the downstairs system for this member. We realize the member is trying to make the best attempt to recollect everything presented/prescribed/performed during the two service calls from approximately 8 months ago. Is it possible there was some confusion between the member and our technician, yes anything is possible. Either way, we appreciate the member for acknowledging any mis-guidance the member may have caused while at the same time recognizing our technicians very good attitude and overall professional behavior. They came and inspected my system the same day I called. They immediately took cameras up in the vents and showed me pictures and footage of all the dust in the vents. No other company did this. They showed up the next day and worked an entire day cleaning the vents with a special brush. They cleaned all the fan blades in the unit and clean the condenser. They put plastic on all the vents so while he was cleaning it didn't cause the dust to get all over the house. After they left we have not gotten sick again. They cleaned to such a great degree that it stopped my family from getting sick. He was very professional in explaining everything and showing me how to make my a/c unit more efficient. He cleaned vents that other companies couldn't clean. He was extremely professional and prompt and courteous.

They completed the tune up. Everything went ok. The techs were on time and professional. They estimated some insulation but I chose not to go with this provider because it was outside of my budget.
