A I Sprinklers

Arrived about 2 hours after the call. Found the leak. Fixed it. Tested it. Cleaned up. Down the road in about an hour.

My husband and I bought our house about a year ago and not much has been done in the last few years beside basic upkeep. I purchased the $59 sprinkler tune-up offer on Monday and was able to get an appointment for Tuesday afternoon. The owner’s son and another employee arrived on time and listened while I explained that I wanted the heads adjusted so there would be less runoff and more coverage as we had quite a few dry spots. I also knew we had a few broken heads that needed to be replaced. We have 6 zones – 1 and 2 in front, 3 on the side, 4 and 5 in the back and 6 on the other side – with new grass growing in zones 1, 2, and 6. I showed them the location of the main box and was told I could go inside while they tested the system. They did a run through of all the zones but, while I had locked the dogs in the house, I did not see them give the backyard more than a cursory glance. They said they adjusted a few heads but could not completely stop all the runoff. Another head has water bubbling up and running down the sidewalk after the head has gone back down. I was told the water is already in the pipe and that nothing can be done to stop the pressure from forcing it downhill. That makes sense to a certain degree but it is not the last head at the bottom of the small hill so I’m not sure why this one is affected and not the bottom one. They found 5 heads needing to be replaced. I gave permission for the broken heads to be replaced for $128.69 with parts $75, labor $47.50 and tax $6.19. My husband later asked which heads had been replaced and I could not tell him. My fault as I should have watched them work but they should also have walked me around to show me what needed to be done and what had been accomplished. I tested the system after they left and there is still quite a bit of runoff and a few dry spots I will have to continue watering by hand. The system had also been programmed to water all 6 zones for 7 minutes every day. I know this is not the best watering program for one of the zones as it doesn’t get any sunlight and stays moist with very little watering. As a first time sprinkler system owner, I cannot comment on whether $187.69 was a good price for 45 minutes spent checking out the system, adjusting a few heads, replacing 5 heads and writing up the invoice. A tune-up of my sprinkler system was definitely needed but I’m not sure this specific tune-up addressed all the issues. UPDATE (09/27/13): Over the past few months I have watched a handful of videos on YouTube on how to locate broken heads and how to repair or replace them. I located 6 heads in the backyard needing replacing and 4 needing to be adjusted. If I was able to locate them, why wasn't the team sent out to do just that able to locate them? I spent approximately $4.50 per replacement head but a lot of time digging. I was willing to pay a company to come in and do this for me, and still am, but I will not have this company do the work.

Very well. They were professional and responded to all the things I asked them to do, i.e., redirect some sprinkler heads so that they didn't hit my windows. etc.

The sprinkler system on our new old house was in pretty rough shape to begin with, and we knew there would be repairs involved when we purchased the sprinkler inspection big deal to get us going. I don't have a lot of experience with such rickety old systems, so I'm not sure how to compare AI's services to other irrigation companies. The good -- they were courteous, on time to the appointment, and quick to diagnose the issues. They applied the Angie's List coupon against the cost of the repairs. They went ahead and took care of a damaged head that I was going to have my husband fix in order to save money. They were patient with me while I was getting approval for the repairs via a phone call to my husband. The not so good -- They informed me on the way out that they had programmed my sprinkler for me. Seems like a good thing, but this was 8 days before stage 3 watering restrictions took effect. I wish they would have asked me what I wanted/needed first. What they did there was a waste of time and effort. They buried the repaired sprinkler valves, which were in a valve box, in dirt. To clarify -- they put dirt back inside the box. I'm not an expert, but it seems like the valve box is there so your equipment doesn't have to be buried in dirt. They left things in a bit of a mess and my husband was not pleased when he had to clean it up afterwards. We still have a bit of work that needs to be done on this old system. We are probably going to try a different company next time.

Did awesome job - very quick and fairly priced.

It was easy to contact and schedule with this company. They showed up on time, in uniform, and got right to work. They ran my sprinkler system and checked all heads, redirecting some and repairing/replacing others as required. They set my sprinkler schedule to comply with city codes. They did a very good job. This service included a complete spring sprinkler check up, which was important for me because I just moved into a new house and wanted to make sure everything was up to par. The only reason I gave them a "B" for quality is because I found what I believe to be the rain sensor hanging from my roof outside of the gutter. While it may have been hanging outside of the gutter before this company performed the check, I feel this is something that should have been looked at (since this was a complete sprinkler check) and put in it's proper place to prevent the sprinklers from coming on while it is raining. Again, this was a minor thing, and these guys did a fine job.

One of the best overall experiences I've had with a service vendor. We scheduled the appointment about a week in advance with about a 1 hour window. When the day came they called to let me know they were on their way and showed up right on time. Within an hour after arriving, the broken zone was fixed (all it needed was some new wire to fix a bad splice left behind by another installation company) and all of the heads were cleaned and working (none of them needed replacement). I took advantage of the sprinkler tune-up deal, but even so, the price was considerably less than I thought it would be.

These guys showed up and went right to work. They adjusted the sprinklers for maximum coverage and reduced coverage where I indicated less water was needed. Many sprinklers were buried and they put in the necessary extensions. I went to them with additional request 3 times while they were working and they were extremely patient. They are top quality people.

We have had a very mixed experience with A.I. Sprinklers. The negative experience centered on moving from an "overloaded" sprinkler head based system in our flower beds to a (highly recommended and encouraged by A.I.) drip water system. We agreed to try the drip water system on a single raised bed. When we returned from being away from the house, A.I had installed drip water system across 3 zones, and not the 1 raised flower bed we wanted to try. We expressed the fact we were skeptical of the drip water system but felt safe moving forward because A.I. guarantees their work, and they stated they would make it right. The drip system did not work for our beds. Because of the clay based earth, water ran off rather than soaking in the ground and water only got to plants within 2" of the drip line. We had to hand water to supplement. We asked that the system be returned to its original configuration within 1 day. The next week A.I did some additional landscaping work; laying sod. We thought they would exchange the systems. Not until 3 weeks later did they exchange the systems but were unwilling to refund our investment in the failed drip system. The owner has refused to call me to negotiate any kind of fair settlement. He has used his crew and son as a buffer. The "overloaded" sprinkler stations problem was fixed with the change of the main valve when the first job was completed. this would have negated going to drip irrigation at the beginning. The balance of the sprinkler repair and landscape work was of excellent quality. There was a leak a couple of weeks later in the sprinkler system and A. I. promptly came back and fixed it for no charge. We would recommend A.I. for sprinkler repair, but not drip irrigation. We would not recommend their business practice of stating they have a guarantee and then only performing some guarantee work and not responding to customer complaints or concerns. We ask that the dispute resolution group for Angie's List intervene on our behalf for a refund of $900.

they added sprinklers i asked for, but while doing so ripped up artificial turf without asking (more later). The added sprinklers in pots still dont work. They set my timer to go off mid day??? My water coverage in the yard was minimal after the job. The leaks I pointed out 3 times still exist. I called and complained they returned 10 days later and I pointed out several areas of concern. They left and the same issues existed. I even called some of the issues before they left the second time and asked them again to correct the issue and in the end they did not fix it. Overall very sloppy work. Back to the turf. A very expensive turf at $10/ft. Said they would call someone in to repair familiar with the product. I had an engagement party at my home for 50 people the following day. they did not return to fix issues with turf. I called 3 times and left 3 messages with zero response. Very unprofessional, sloppy and destroyed my property. So not only do I have to get a new sprinkler company out to actually fix the issues they did not fix, but I have to hire someone to come repair the artificial turf. Nothing but a headache. Do not use this company.

It did not turn out so well. When they first came out they messed up on the fees and they were going to charge us the additional $59. My wife called and complained and they came and gave the $59 back. When I got home I noticed a few sprinkler heads needed work and they came back out and looked at that. Overall it went well but there was a lot of mis-communication and they did not know what to charge. It was kind of a headache but the work was done well.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I wasn't there but my son was and he said they checked everything out and fixed a couple of things. Everything has been great so far. They did a good job as far as we know.

I cannot give them a C because I don't feel like I had a fair experience. PLEASE get any bid from them in WRITING to avoid any confusion. I understand that my sprinkler system is extremely old in this home we just purchased but the reason I joined Angie's list was so that I could trust that what I was told was what I would be charged. When I was given another bill for over $400 after being charged over $1,200 three days earlier I complained to the owner, after he talked to his son who performed the work, I was told that "his son told my husband about all the prices". My husband wasn't there for the first half of the day - the only person he told prices to was me at that time - I'm the one who heard him say that the valve replacement was one price and then later told that the hourly rate also applied to the price he had quoted and that was only the hardware cost. - when he told me about the hourly rate it was only for the cut wires for a different Zone and I still don't understand what $300 of the "expense" was for. I honestly also feel that if the two who showed up to do the work had been more experienced it wouldn't have taken as long as it did. It took them no time to find the valves but hours upon hours to replace them. Again I know it was copper and brass which is old school but hours? They were very nice and if you have a new sprinkler system with minor problems and get the bid in writing before they do any work I'm sure they're fine - the just weren't fine for me and I can't in good conscience give them a good review. I will never hire another person without a bid in writing

The person that came out was very nice but did a minimal job. He didn't really do the work I requested.

For a reasonable fee, he replaced a spinkler with a different type. This was necessary since we changed the garden configuration

Everything worked well. Had a valve go bad, but he's coming back to check this week.

It did not seem like they were really interested in replacing or giving me advice on other heads. It was ok. I would probably not use them again. They were on time and efficient. They did not give my any suggestions for what I was asking for.

Overall very satisfied. They showed up a few minutes late but wasn't a big deal and called when they were they were about to the house. Seemed very professional. Explained the issue and they got to work right away. Called when they were finished as I wasn't home.

Bought the Spring sprinkler inspection for $59. They found a leak and let me know. I had a metal building put up last year and the contractors were supposed to cap the sprinklers but did not. We ended up turning off that zone so it would not continue to leak. I was told I had some broken sprinklers and it would cost $150 to replace them. After they finished the cost was $250. I was surprised by the amount going up by $100. It was not what I expected. Cody did a great job though and I will happily use AI Sprinklers again but I will ask for the quote in writing first. Update: A few days after the inspected and replaced some sprinklers my sprinklers started getting stuck on. Almost every morning I wake up to a different zone being stuck on. I had this problem before they came out and told them about this problem. I was told it was because some of the sprinkler heads were broken. I paid more than was quoted to me and then the problem was still not fixed. I guess there are more problems than just some broken heads?? I am just disappointed that my problem was not fixed and I feel like I paid money for nothing. I wonder if the sprinkler heads were really even broken?

AI did a good job adjusting my sprinkler system. I just added a new patio, and needed some sprinklers capped and others re-directed. They did find a leak under my patio which they had to dig under to get at. That cost me an additional fee beyond the $59.00 special. I was satisfied with the quality of their work, and I would call them again.

Cody and his assistant showed up on time and promptly went to work diagnosing my irrigation system and noting the parts that were not working or broken. He quickly had the problems diagnosed and gave me an estimate to fix the inoperative parts of my system. He also recommended that I replace my original 30 year old controller which I agreed to do so. They were quick and efficient in completing the repairs and I highly recommend the company to anyone for their irrigation needs/repairs.

Ok, not badly at all, nice professional experience. Expected a little more in terms of adjustments and checking of system/rain sensor for price.

I called A.I. from Angie's List and asked about availability. They routed a crew with an open appointment (Cody) to my home within the hour. From the minute Cody and his crew arrived he was professional, quick and efficient. He went beyond the scope of the issue at hand and left me in far better shape than I was last year before I even had broken sprinkler heads. Thanks to A.I. I am now fully ready to battle the heat of summer for my lawn.
