Master Services

I had just put in gas logs in the fireplace and he kind of educated me about them and showed me a much better way to wipe it and he guided actually and installed them. He was very knowledgeable and gave me a lot of information above and beyond the work that he did. They were pretty quick. It only took about a week for them to come out.

I need to have the outside of my chimney repaired (about 6 layers of brick replaced). I had to schedule a chimney a chimney inspection which I dont feel was necessary. That was $99.99. Of the three companies I had quote the work two were near one another and Master Services was $1,400 more. The gebtleman than came out was nice and inspected the chimney and not to my surprise gave me the same information I already knew that 6 layers of brick needed to be replaced. Good service but expensive and a bit unnecessary service required to tell me what needs to be replaced when I already know.

Needed the top several rows of brick on my fireplace replaced and a vent cap added. Master Services was recommended to me by a roofing contractor and I contacted them through Angie's List. Got a response indicating that my town was not too far from them and they would be happy to help. They supplied a phone number for me to call the office to make an appointment. I called the office and but after being put on hold the office person came back on the line and told me I am out of their service area. I told her that I received an Angie's list response indicating they could help and she responded that they would have to correct that. I wanted to rate them a C but Angie's Lst wouldn't let me.

andrew and his helper showed up on time. they were knowledgeable, and andrew explained each step, and was willing to answer any questions I had. they placed a drop sheet and cleaned their work area. definitely would recommend.

When I first called and told them I was in Terrell, I was told they didn't service Terrell as it is too far away. I asked if they did work in Rockwall and when I was told yes I told them I was only 20 minutes away from Rockwall. The booking rep then asked her boss and they agreed to come to my home in Terrell, so they were very accommodating . Initially, they came out to assess the problems with the chimney/fireplace and I paid a $99 inspection fee. They told me some of the same things I had heard from a chimney sweep several years previous, so I knew they were honest. I had them come back to repair damage caused when a tree fell on the house and to raise up the chimney pipe and install a new cap which should have been done back when the chimney was installed by the previous owners. Then they replaced the floor and back wall of the fireplace because these had cracked over the years and constituted a fire hazard. Quoted cost was $1375 and that is what I paid. Omar was the repair technician and he did an excellent job. He was punctual, polite, explained everything and I was very impressed. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to have them back if needed. P.S. I had some trouble with woodsmoke smell in the house after having a fire in the fireplace and after the repairs.I didn't know what was causing it, so I called Master Services. They were very helpful and told me that it was mostly likely the wood I was using. They suggested a test whereby I would be able to tell if it was the wood or the chimney and it was the wood. I was very grateful to them for helping me out after the fact.

We selected another provider.

They did a good job. I had no issues with the service.

They completed the job and now we had a beautiful glow of heat coming out our fireplace tonight.

There was no mess and it was completed in less than an hour.

They came shortly after we purchased it. They did a very good job. I was amazed with all the lint that had come out of my vent. We were very happy with them. I think that that was probably a fair price.

The Creosote log never came and my husband called to follow-up with Master Services a week or two after Thanksgiving. A Master Services receptionist informed my husband that the log was on back order. She apologized for the company failing to contact us with this detail. We expressed concern and frustration with having a chimney that we couldn't use given the season and that we had pre-paid for the service. We were ensured that Master Services would be in contact with us and that the log should soon be on the way. The Christmas holiday came and we were out of town for 2-weeks. We returned in early January and still hadn't heard from Master Services--and the log never showed up. Fast forward to late January and still no word from Master Services. I called to follow-up and request a full refund. The receptionist was very matter of fact and not sympathetic in the least other than a standard apology. She seemed dismissive of my concern and said that she would put me in touch with their "finance person" regarding a refund. Our call disconnected and the receptionist called me back stating (again very matter of fact like) that a full refund would be mailed out, "How would you like the name to appear on the check?" I asked for an explanation and she simply stated that Master Services had left a message with us at some point stating that the Creosote log was in and they had asked us how we wanted to move forward. First, we never received a message or phone call from Masters Services. Second, the log should have been delivered to our house so that we could burn it and then schedule the chimney sweep since this is how Master Services directed us in their process. If Master Services received the log the next logical step would have been for Master Services to contact us to deliver the log and schedule the chimney sweep since we had pre-paid for the chimney sweep service. What an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience! I'm still not sure why Master Services was so negligent with us but I do know that the temps have been rather cold and we still don't have a safely functioning fireplace even though we began our communication and paid for a service with Master Services back in November. I will definitely be talking to neighbors and friends for a different chimney service provider and this time we will look for a more professional and attentive company and hopefully friendly staff.

Now I have piece of mind. Will have fireplace inspected yearly.

Owned this house for 8 years and had never used the fire place. I contacted Master Services because of their Angie's List ratings and on google. The technician was on time and called when he was leaving his last appointment to give his eta. Prompt and courteous service. I will use them again and recommend them to anyone. Corinth, Texas

I scheduled the appointment for a dryer duct cleaning and to service the roof vent flap that fell off. Because of weather conditions coming this week and my available schedule to be home, I was limited on my time for service. Plus I was concerned about the flap being off the roof vent. I called a couple other companies to make an appointment but they could not come for a couple of days. Master Services was able to come in a few hours. They were priced higher than the other companies but I did not want to risk weather damage if the flap was an issue. The company rep on the phone was very polite and professional. The service rep called about 30 minutes prior (12:30) to our scheduled window of 1:00 to 3:00 which was great. He also was very professional, polite, and friendly. He immediately went to work to clean out the duct from both the roof and inside the laundry area. He determined that the way the vent was installed, the flap was not operating properly anyway. The original builder did not leave enough room for the flap to move freely. He suggested to leave the flap off. With the angle of the vent and the way the cover was made, he said I should not have any issues with water/snow blowing into the duct line. I agreed and felt comfortable with that. The way the flap was originally, it caused more lint issues at the roof vent anyway. I did get a 10% discount because of finding them on Angie's List which helped in the cost of the original price of $149.99. As far as service, I was very satisfied but I will probably not use them again because of the price. Because of the cost of service, I rated this company a B overall. Other than that they would have been an A.

Very professional, knew exactly what we wanted. Our fireplace is now a luxurious glass and fire centerpiece of our beautiful home. The gas logs left from the previous homeowners were blackened, and the wrong size for the fire box. Master Service's fireplace pro recommended and installed it right on time.

They appeared to do the job of cleaning chimney. They were suggesting other jobs to be done. I noticed at a later time they broke the handle that opens and closes the chimney.

He checked to make sure the chimney did not need cleaning. He went up on the roof and secured the rain collar around the chimney, caulked it and caulked around the base of the chimney. He was extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot about chimneys, fireplaces, gas logs and glass doors. I like it when a contractor explains what they are doing, as well as hearing their suggestions on how I can improve my house. He also showed me the best way to light my gas logs, which the person who installed them (different company) did not do.

Arrived on time after a call to inform. Cared for home, Persian rug, FTC with covers and clean equipment. Checked chimney in attic, checked cap for fit. Did not try to sell us extra stuff! Cleaned box and logs. Showed me how to add sand to bios for added safety since we chose for him not to replace. Highly professional and I am picky.

Want to give warning to all those in the Oklahoma City area. When I inquired as to weekend hours, as they are posted on Angie's List, they stated that they send cleaners from Denton Texas to Oklahoma City, but only during the week. Just wanted to give that word of caution to people that are looking to have services completed on the weekend.

He came in and inspected the chimney and did a sweep. He was running a little late but called. He was professional and knowledgable. They seemed a little high for the work after the sweep.

These folks did a fantastic job! They were easy to contact, came when they said they would and were as professional as you could ever hope for. Since the work was on my mother's home they were nice enough to email me an estimate as well just so I could check it out before they started the work. We will be calling them in the future for projects as well. Terrific company.
