Description of Work: I called Wrightway Moving to move us, because they had moved us exactly one year before, and this move was identical except reverse direction (to the house we had moved from). Wrightway agreed in writing to honor a quote I received from AB Moving, which was a flat rate long distance move for $1498. The move was scheduled for June 30. But just before the move, Wrightway's sales rep Tanya Morrow emailed me on June 28 at 7:51pm, stating they would charge for extra items not on the list, changing the terms of the agreement. AB Moving stated to me that the itemize list applied to LOCAL moves only and not long-distance moves, that long-distance moves were considered flat rate: everything that could get in the truck in one move would be put in the truck. I emailed Tanya back that evening with this information. I had not heard from her on the 29th, so I called her at approximately 1:30 PM. I still had not heard back from her by 6 PM, so I left a voicemail to cancel that move. She called back and wanted to see the statement from AB Moving in writing. I forwarded to her the email from Alexis, the A.B. customer service rep which clearly stated the itemize list was only for local moves and did not apply to my move. Tanya then said that she would honor the AB quote, and emailed me to that effect. I then agreed to go forward with Wrightway moving. |The day of the move, the crew leader Pedro presented a contract which listed the $1498 flat rate, but with a handwritten note on it stating additional items not on the list would incur extra charge, not to exceed $2000. I then showed him the written statement from Tanya and from AB moving, and he said that the contract "must have been written prior to the written agreement the evening before" I trusted him, but I truly didn't have much choice as we had to move out that day. | After they finished loading the truck full, we got on the road to move. During that drive I received a heated phone call from Tanya. She began with stating we had a "serious problem ", that the owner of Wrightway spoke with the owner of AB, and that no one at AB agreed to move everything in the house that could fit into one truck. She said the empty gun safe in the house was not on the inventory list. I told her the inventory list was not comprehensive; I had stated that to both AB and Wrightway, which is why I asked if items NOT on the list would be moved if they could be placed in the truck. I also told her that Wrightway moved the safe without question or incident last year during the move to Waco. Pedro was on that move, and he with the others moved the safe. I hung up with Tanya and called Pedro to ask him about it and he said he "simply didn't remember ", as it had been a year ago. She spoke with Pedro as well, and he told her the same thing. She then called me back, and informed me she did not believe me; she accused me of lying and of using trickery and deception to get a better deal. She then stated they would hold ALL of our belongings hostage until we paid $2000 in cash before they unloaded one item! Needless to say, I was completely unprepared for such a verbal attack from them, particularly one of that was so vicious and ugly. She also accused me of never even completing an inventory list for her company, which I said I absolutely did, and I had even sent her an email letting her know I had completed it! I told her I had no intention to take advantage of anyone, I simply wanted the company that offered the best rate. | I have written documentation for all of my claims in this review. We were completely victimized by this company, blackmailed into giving them an additional $500 or we would never get our belongings back.
